@@HelloIamLauraa I think so, They discuss a lot in the program about update your resume and there are forums of other people that are taking it as well. I'm hopeful!

It looks easy but not at the initial stage, also gained by experience. If possible, the microphone can be fix because it only comes out on my left side of headset. Thanks! and more power.
Thanks for the video! Would love to hear your anecdotal insights/thoughts on the current job market for entry level data analysts. Seems like a very popular destination for people transitioning from other careers (myself included), and I've heard a lot of mixed things. Thanks again!
The job market is tough right now for pretty much any industry but if you're considering a career change into data I say it's definitely worth it. There are many ways to make yourself stand out even in a tough market for entry level data analyst roles. For example, if you are transitioning from a different career, you may have soft skills such as communication and problem solving that you can highlight on your resume. Data analysis is more than just the technical skills and a skill worth learning that is very transferable to other career paths as well. My recommendation is if you're interested, start learning and invest in skills that will make you marketable. Hope this helps!
I'm about to go for my first interview ever for a Tech job, and it's for a entry level data analyst job, on the 7th. I completed a technical assessment already, it was just a set of tasks to do, mainly SQL and just 3 Visualizations. Now what should I do to prepare for the interview and since I did the assessment at home, what could they probably come at me with especially since I have no experience and they want a Junior data analyst with 0-1 year experience. Great video! And your advice would be highly appreciated, all the way from South Africa ❤🎉
Congrats on the interview and completing the tech assessment! Next, they will be looking to ask questions about your analytical and soft skills. Have some data projects on hand that you can use as examples to show your ability to clean data, work with different datasets, communicate technical concepts to a nontechnical audience are all good skills to highlight. As a junior data analyst, you may have no work experience but even some projects you've done on your own while studying would help here. They may even give you a case study like "how would you measure the performance of the company" and this is where you can talk about your ability to align with different stakeholders to define metrics and bring insights through data. The fact that you got the interview and completed the tech assessment means you are already qualified! So just make sure you dedicate time the time to preparing and be confident! Hope the interview goes well!
We are about to become friends. When you said reality TV is my weakness, I almost wanted to stand up and do a spin dance because what are the odds of finding a tech-sis who loves Reality TV, too? We should have a Reality TV podcast (our version of a new-age book club). Haha.
Can you please making a video that talk about a diversity of personnels career background in a working team? As I'd like to change my career path when I am turning 40. Now actually I am 40. My background job was an architect and project manager that working outside of US. So my job experience is totally different from an architect who has worked in US. I am kinda worried of: 1. Thank you for this , i apreciate the time taken to make this it was so easy to follow . I am considering taking a course do you need much coding knowledge?
The 2 coding languages you will need to know are SQL and Python. If you are applying for entry level jobs, you can start with just Excel and SQL while focusing on learning the fundamentals of data analysis with these 2 tools.
Hi Agatha, I just subscribed to your channel. Your approach is very laid back, something I appreciate. I'm currently taking Google's Data Analytics course through Coursera. I am roughly about half way through, and really enjoying it. A little bit about myself, I have been in Healthcare for the last 25 years on the caregiver's side of things, but would like to transition to the business side as an Analyst. What are some tools I can use to adjunct my learning to give me a bettor opportunity to land a job after this course? Thank you for giving back to your community.
Hi, it's nice to meet a fellow data enthusiast with a healthcare background. I too came from healthcare before tech. The below comment is correct about the types of tools you'll need to know. I updated my description with resources to these tools above, so take a look!
I’ve used both Windows and Mac for data analysis. Windows is more user friendly and common in the workplace but I’m using a Mac today and I find that it is really powerful and compatible with the programs I need. But I work with big data and most of the processing I do is in cloud computing so the OS is not as important.
Good question! Naturally a data analyst has many career paths you can take. You can choose to be more technical and go the data science/data engineer path or go into more leadership/manager roles like director of data analytics. I'll probably do a video on this as this is something I'm still thinking through as to what is the next transition for me.
Data science sounds great but needs one to be great at math and stats. And many data science jobs in reality are a hybrid of data engineer and analyst.
hey I m currently enrolled in first year of AI&DS(artificial intelligience and data science ) course!! but not getting what I expected from my clg!!! i just want to get placed at a good LPA !!! can u just make how one can become a data analyst of its own? is it even possible?
Yes flexibility depends on the company. As for the career field, data analyst roles require having overlap hours with your stakeholders for meetings but there is also a lot of independent time building that this career would allow for flexibility.
My favorite part is working on a data team. I've been at companies where I was the only data analyst but now being on a team, we bounce ideas off each other and learn from each other's different career backgrounds. Data Analysis is also good for people who are extroverted introverts. I enjoy talking to people but also LOVE the days I don't have any meetings and can sit with headphones on building lol
You don't need a powerful laptop for data analysis tasks since you are not working with machine learning. Thinkpads (even the low budget versions) are very good. I think you can get a used or refurbished one.
Any laptop will do that you can download excel and sql. Agreed with the comment above that you don’t need anything powerful especially when just starting out
Yes Power BI is another very popular data visualization tool. There's so many out there so no reason I did not include it. I mention it in my next video
How do you like running a mac OS vs windows? Most software is pretty similar, I know excel is different regarding the functions and quick keys does that ever get in the way?
Mac OS and Windows both work well for Data Analysis but personally Mac and Excel sucks lol the quick keys bothered me too but I don't use much of Excel anymore on the job. I mostly use SQL and cloud based tools so having a Mac OS has been easier for me to use as that's what I use on my personal computer as well
You’re welcome! I’m a self taught data analyst. My background is in litigation consulting 😂 and I made the switch! I go into my background here How I Changed Careers To Become A Data Analyst ruclips.net/video/i5ekIVYUzS0/видео.html
Hi Agatha, Thank you for this vlog☺️. I think you can help me with my question like there are so many misconceptions about Data analyst in the upcoming years...Can you please let me know what is the scope of DA in the upcoming years and what is the average pay for this role? Thamkyou in advance!😊
Hi, you're welcome! There are a lot of misconceptions about what the data analyst role will look like. The data analyst role will not go away but will be redefined as it's a career field that keeps up with the ever-changing technology. We'll be working more closely with AI and integrating that into reporting and data analysis. Average salary in the US is about $66K for entry level in the US but it is a career field that has a high earning potential depending on industry, experience, and location. I plan to make a video about these 2 topics in the coming weeks so stay tuned!
I am an aspiring media analyst. Do you have any recommendations on how to make myself more attractive to companies hiring analysts? I am currently getting my master's in mass communications but I am sure there is a lot more that companies look for aside from formal education.
A portfolio showcasing your media analyst skills will make you can stand out. This is something you can add to your resume and also leverage in interviews. I’m working on a video how to become a data analyst with no experience which I think will help you. Stay tuned!

I want to listen to it as well. thank you! and btw I am also interested in data analytics, and I study hard for it. it's like one of my dream jobs. do you have any data analytics books recommendation to read?
Hey thanks so much for watching! I enjoy listening to: www.erikataughtme.com/ as there's a lot of self development and skills you can learn from guests on the show. As for books, storytelling with data is a good book to learn about data visualization. Sounds like you're already on the right track and learning :)
I am currently doing Masters in Data Analytics shifted from a developments background to Data Analytics i have a Bachelors Degree in computer science. Though i know most of the things due to my background, already completed the Google Data Analytics plus Business intelligence Courses from Coursera. just looking to get a job somehow lol . Your Design Document is very similar to Google Business Intelligence Template i have completed that course and lastly what reporting tool do you mostly used ?
Hey Agatha, nice vid. Could you give some insights especially for SDE's with over 12+ years of experience planning for career transition to Data science/ Data analytics field? Thanks much!
Hey! You have the advantage that SDE’s are very technical but the skillsets you’ll want to sharpen are SQL, Python for data analysis, and a BI tool like Tableau. You’ll want to also understand the fundamentals of data analysis and how to use data to communicate insights. If you have any opportunities to work closely with the data team on the job, that would be a great way to get hands on experience. I have a video coming out this week 11/12 that I think you’ll find useful. Stay tuned!
Hey! w3schools is a good place to start learning sql for free and practice. You can also go to kaggle for datasets and leetcode for practice sql questions. I learned sql by practicing so my recommendation is to not just watch tutorials but to practice writing to learn.
Hello from Canada, I was trying to get into the BIE at Amazon, but I don't even receive an interview. Can you share a bit your experience/insight on how can someone can prepare well for the BIE at Amazon?
Hi there! For the BIE role at Amazon, you'll want to know advanced SQL (leetcode.com/studyplan/top-sql-50/) and a visualization tool (ex: Tableau, Power BI, or QuickSight). Depending on the team, some may require more Python and statistics as well. You'll also want to have strong examples of your work in your resume. This could be from job experience or your portfolio that you will leverage to showcase your data analysis skills like the ability to explain trends. When practicing for the interview, use the STAR technique (situation, task, action, result) focusing on the actions and results of your work. I plan to do another video with more tips but I hope these help you get started!
Python is used with a series of Python libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib and Jupyter Notebook were you can analyze the data and create data visualizations to graph out your findings.

Hello I’m new to your channel, I wanted to know if there are any courses that you would recommend for learning how to use data to tell a story and also using data to show an impact of a change or recommendation
I have not taken any courses for storytelling but I can share but my BI coworker recommends the book Storytelling with Data by Knaflic as a really good resource
How I can make a portfolio? Example: if I do a project about homeless, cause, solution, why so many failed to fix. I know the answer and the solution for the crisis, but I want the data. So how I can get the data where I can find. Other projects I want to develop in tableau just to practice the tableau about housing crisis and another project about covid vaccines. I don't like the projects subjects but I need data to practice the tableau.
hi my dear aghatha , i'm statrted in data analusys recently , and wanna to ask u about how much the monthly salary of data analysist where you live , BTW like the vibes that in your toytube vlogs
Hi and thank you! In the United States where I am located the median salary is around $83,000 for a data analyst. It's on my list to make a video about this as pay is an important factor to consider!
Not realy, as a data engineer you will mostly be cleaning data and fixing broken down datastreams for so called data analysts who are too stupid to write a single query and will complain their powerbi reports can't export to Excel.
Hey! Yes I have a bachelors in business administration and no masters. I have a video with my background here: ruclips.net/video/ga23mUpFq00/видео.htmlsi=DhBh8qU1We-BGyzP and another video this week talking about my data journey. Hope this helps!
I have 2 years of experiences in companies and 3 years of data associated study and still not a single job offer so yeah I do not know what they are looking for 😂
The field of data analysis is growing rapidly and as a result there is more competition for entry-level positions. You'll have to use a portfolio and resume/interview tips to make yourself stand out in the crowd

Yes Power BI is another very popular data visualization tool. There's so many out there so no reason I did not include it. I mention it in my next video
Where did you buy the track pad palm rest?
My desk setup is in the description above. The track pad: amzn.to/47aYpgM

I am from non tech background and done a course on RPA.How should i get into Data Analyst Any roadmap??
I have a video that will answer this question and how to become a data analyst with no experience coming out next week. Stay tuned!
Nice video.
I mostly use SQL and cloud based tools so having a Mac OS has been easier for me to use as that's what I use on my personal computer as well
Thanks for the awesome video. It’s very helpful. Do you have a CS degree or were you just self-taught to become a data analyst?
You’re welcome! I’m a self taught data analyst. My background is in litigation consulting 😂 and I made the switch! I go into my background here How I Changed Careers To Become A Data Analyst
ruclips.net/video/i5ekIVYUzS0/видео.html
why the sound when agatha talk only in my left headphone and the music in the right, it made my ears inconvenience :(
same, can't watch the video like this.
That was my mistake 🤦♀
@@agathakang Thankyou very much! Great you responded for the query☺️. Looking forward for the upcoming videos. Keep rocking🥳
Stay tuned!
Hi, were you using Smartsheets, and if so did you have to teach yourself that information. I am truly interested in becoming a data analyst.
Hey! Yes I was using smartsheets and that is just a project planning tool I learned on the job. I would say any tool can be used. I see Asana as a popular one and there is a free version you can use too
What would you say are good skills to have when applying for such job ?
Hey I have a video breaking down the skills here: ruclips.net/video/dJA7k58zlA8/видео.html
i think you can put a little down music because when i want to hear you it is lifting the music in background at the same time.
Thanks letting me know. I have adjusted this for future videos!
Hi, could you please advise what design document you use?
eu estou bem no comecinho, mas investi no alura. estou fazendo o curso de logica de programaçao deles e esse curso ensina java scipt.
hi Agatha, I really like your video. it gives me an inspiration.
And may I know which business podcast you are listening to? I want to listen to it as well. thank you!
and btw I am also interested in data analytics, and I study hard for it. it's like one of my dream jobs.
do you have any data analytics books recommendation to read?
Hey thanks so much for watching! I enjoy listening to: www.erikataughtme.com/ as there's a lot of self development and skills you can learn from guests on the show. As for books, storytelling with data is a good book to learn about data visualization. Sounds like you're already on the right track and learning :)
@@agathakang omggg thanksss a lot. i will study harder and harder
Wow, nice life path🤩 I also want to change to data analytics
Wishing you the best on your path! I believe you will get a job soon!
@@HelloIamLauraa Definitely you should do this
@@bangtanwings4854 Thank you 👌
That's great! I use mostly QuickSight but in the industry Tableau and Power BI are common
Stay tuned!
Can you tell me from where you have learned all this skills such as sql
Hey! w3schools is a good place to start learning sql for free and practice. You can also go to kaggle for datasets and leetcode for practice sql questions. I learned sql by practicing so my recommendation is to not just watch tutorials but to practice writing to learn.
love the video. I'm new to DA and I'm having a hard time looking for remote work in it. BTW, watch LOVE IS BLIND SWEDEN. It's dramatic
Thanks so much ❤️ and LOL I was literally just about to watch love is blind Sweden. Thanks for the rec!!
@@agathakang What did you think about Love is Blind Sweden?
@@agathakang Thank you for your response, really appreciate it!
what path do i need to follow to be a data analyst? please
Hey I have a video breaking down the path I would take here: ruclips.net/video/dJA7k58zlA8/видео.html
You use SQL to query the data, but how is Python used? Do you use a ton of Python? Are there specific libraries that are used?
Second this question.
Python is used with a series of Python libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib and Jupyter Notebook were you can analyze the data and create data visualizations to graph out your findings.
In addition, python is also used to build custom ETL pipelines.
hi i love your video thanks for the usefull information. i really want to learn and be a good data analyst but im really confused and dont know what to do . my major is totaly different not related to anything with execl, data , computer lges ive been jobless for years i konw im wasting my life , so i decided to learn something totatly different and same time earn my living, and data analyst really appeal to me but i dont know where to start ?, some good online platforms to learn with cerification?, if i dedicate my time and effort would be worth it? , cause i really cant afford wasting time nor money

Hello I’m new to your channel, I wanted to know if there are any courses that you would recommend for learning how to use data to tell a story and also using data to show an impact of a change or recommendation
I have not taken any courses for storytelling but I can share but my BI coworker recommends the book Storytelling with Data by Knaflic as a really good resource
great! please can you share tutorial on sql, im founding it difficult. can you also be my mentor
Apparently people think working out and eating are part of the job description. 😂 otherwise this was a good video.

you have a beautiful home. was this home all gotten with data analyst salary. thank you
Thanks so much and yes it was from a data analyst salary but also living at my parents home for years to save up $ haha it helped!

How much Ram do you need in your laptop as a DA?
I would recommend at least 16 GB but more the better
I want to become a data analyst how can i start i also work like you can you help us
Hey I have a video with a path here: ruclips.net/video/dJA7k58zlA8/видео.html
Yes
Looks easy, but it seems very hard to actually get a job as a data analyst.
Yes the job market is tough right now with tech layoffs. I'm hoping hiring will pick up in 2024
I study data engineering، I think my work will be similar to yours
Yes, I work on a team of data analysts and data engineers and our work overlaps a lot. It's good because you learn a lot of both which is very useful!
Not realy, as a data engineer you will mostly be cleaning data and fixing broken down datastreams for so called data analysts who are too stupid to write a single query and will complain their powerbi reports can't export to Excel.
I’m trying to create a data analyst position where I work so I would be a team of one LoL
That’s one of the best ways to transition to a data analyst! Do it internally and learn the skills on the job 😁
I am a data analyst can you assist with a freelance work
Hey I offer 1-1 coaching and coffee chats you can schedule in the description above
Hi! What education did you have? Did you take a bachelor degree in Business Ad?
