thank you syd! i'm glad it was helpful! to add to your point, these skills stay the same but the level of 'ambigiuity' def increases as you grow as an analyst! for instance, I started out only analyzing for very specific asks (i.e can you graph the Y/Y user growth for every country) , then in I was asked to analyze based on a topic (i.e. can you analyze the impact of the marketing campaign), and ultimately now it's more so given an open ended business question, carry out the entire data analysis + biz thinking end to end (i.e. how should we allocate our budget per country next year? this will invovle thinking through a framework, understanding business context, looking into different biz performance indicators etc.) hope this helps!
@@LillianChiu101 thanks for replying to me lillian!! yeah def agreed, it's only been 3 months but i can feel how important it is to have the ability to clarify ambiguous questions and come up definition for the metrics to answer those questions. and sounds like the world of analyst just gonna be more complex down the road lol, but perfection comes with more practices! hope one day i can be as good as you are and carry out bigger projects :^D

I just watched your internship video and now am watching this video. First, congratulations on the promotion! But what I found most interesting is how your demeanor change. Now your body language and the way you speak are very American.
I agree with JC, depending on the company and how they define the BA responsibilities writing SQL queries are not usually a requirement. However, the last few years I've seen an increase in BA positions that require 8 - 10 years of experience writing complex queries. That's usually a nice to have not a must have but it does weed applicants
Nearly all of my friends, colleagues and former colleagues don't have that kind of background. I have know people who are database analysts who have that background and they tell me its stupid really to ask that much of a BA. Why? because with that experience writing complex SQL queries they can make more money as a database analyst than as a BA.

Whats the difference between Data Science and Business Analyst at your job? Some jobs i've had to do both roles but curious how it gets broken out in other corps.
What is your data source and is it necessary to clean up the data before analysis?
