The point of her stating the problem is so that people are aware and those female athletes shouldn't have to go through pregnancy without health insurance and paid maternity leave.

I hope one will first consult doctors rather than doing something like this themselves.
@K. F. it's not risky. Military woman do it all the time. Running depends on the fitness of the woman. It brings no harm to the baby, as long as your use to it.
@K. F. If you are a fit woman already then it is fine. Of course a woman who doesn't normally exercise shouldn't run like that while pregnant but her body can handle it because she has trained her body to. She also wasn't in a high risk pregnancy so she was fine. If Nike wouldn't threaten to drop her then she could have taken maternity leave and focus on her pregnancy but instead she had to train and run.

Menzy A lot of people exercise intensely, even with their baby. Their body is now built to sustain them and their child. It’s not like she is NOW getting into it.
And it’s very good to do since it helps with the bodily changes that happens while pregnant and what happens after birth.
If she and other athletes can do it, plenty of others can.

Sure, when you're athletic you're likely to handle the pregnancy well enough but you never know what it can do to your body so the pregnancy really could be an "injury". She got lucky but a lot of women have difficult pregnancies and actual problems for the rest of their lives caused by pregnancy. Nike is a business and you're making a bad business choice when putting your athletic abilities in jeopardy with pregnancy. Pregnancy DOES affect the body, health and the ability to perform. You cannot deny it.
@@bubbles6853 fetuses are more durable than you think. In the military woman still run, while pregnant. It all depends on the fitness of the woman. If they're already an athlete, then it's ok for them to run, because they're conditioned for it. No harm will come if they're use to it already.
“Stop treating our pregnancy like an injury”, That’s a good line right there...

This is huge statement.

This ones a toughy. I had two c-sections and I realize that that is not the norm, but I was definitely injured after that. I love how America claims to be the greatest country in the world, but is the only developed nation that does not have paid maternity leave. Come on, America, get with the times.
I’m pretty sure they don’t at all.
All the men complaining need to stop and think. They think it doesn't benefit them so why should they care. Most countries with maternity leave also have paternity leave. Beyond an income while women are at their most vulnerable, maternity/paternity leave also guarantees that your employer can't just fire you during your absence. Just knowing that you'll have a job to go back to is a big relief to women/men.
@@AL-bv7jt your choice to have a kid. Your business. You pay for it. I wont but it, but dont ask me to subsidize your choice.
@@loveflying4488 Just don't be surprised when USA disappears because your women aren't allowed to reproduce. xD
I'm so proud of my country - India in this regard
In all government jobs , women have at least 8 months of paid maternity leave
While it varies from 6 to 8 months in private sectors
I’m not buying Nike anymore if that’s the way they treat women really.
Look up Mary Cain
Nico Di Fictional I just watched that video and I’m so disgusted
Same. Not gonna support a Company which does not support women.
@RJ Rockwell assuming you are a man
@Rebecca Kilmore While I may be a man, however, I believed that it is wrong for companies like Nike to force their female athletes to ship their breast milk across the world because Nike didn't have paid family leave.
I admire women who don't put off marriage, family and children till they build a successful career! Love and family don't prevent you from being strong!
They could make a maternity line, that's their loss!
👌🏾good idea
Starr J that is a brilliant idea. 💜
Lana Joy exactly🤦🏾♀️
Riiiiigghhhttt how could they NOT have seen that opportunity!!🤦🏾♀️ oh I know IT SEEMS TO ONLY BE MEN AT THE TOP!!
Lana Joy FR🙌🏾🙌🏾.
Bruh knowing about these things just now, in 2019, is shocking.
I'm committed to never buying Nike.
Aye aye!!
But is it Nike in general or just in America, cause in my country it’s illegal to do this in the first place.
Cassidy Starke Which country? I live in Europe so are the rules different
Charlie C
Same, i’m dutch
i agree that this is awful, but if you stop buying nike shoes it literally won't hurt them at all, they are a billion dollar company
It baffles me how short sighted these companies are! You would think with all the fearless athletes that Nike promotes, some of that fearlessness would have left an impression on them. I love how Alysia ran while visibly pregnant, because representation and normalization matters. I applaud Alysia and Allyson for calling this out! ❤️❤️❤️
My mouth dropped when she said they took away health insurance 😱😳
Exactly! Right when she needed it most.
I didn’t know that the Olympic Committee even provided health insurance. They’re jackasses to take it away.
"Just Do It Even If It Means Sacrificing Everything"
I guess we now know which Nike meant by this.
Her words are so powerful and she is so strong, more love❤️
High level discrimination. Thank you for this important testimony !
How have we not evolved beyond this...? I hadn’t even thought this could be a reality for athletes. Wow. My respect for female athletes just went through the roof
Bruh. Never buying Nike clothing, shoes, bags, anything AGAIN
finally watching an actual callout on youtube and not petty website drama
And here I thought Nike cared about the "woke" agenda.
I believe Nike doesn't run a program that gives information about fitness and nutrition.
Studying these women for science can be sooo beneficial.
Adam Muncy 😂😂😂😂 that’s what all these companies want you To believe
Damien Alexander ok but did we ask for you to explain your entire philosophy degree or
Lmao this damien dude really wrote a whole paragraph
No Nike and Asics for me in the meantime. Moms wear shoes too and I know for a fact that they do double work starting from the time when they're pregnant.
Yes, they are comfy. I've actually got my wife a pair of that before. Thanks@Samara V Hamilton.
'Moms wear shoes too' - Right! Nike was stupid, I'd have capitalized on her pregnancy & came out with a whole maternity line with Alysia as the model
Adidas it is lol
I wish Alysia all the best! She is so brave for speaking up and an inspiration for female athlete all around the globe.
people should boycott nike. it's time for this giant to fall
I agree
jeff damicog agree totally!
Agreed, however, what alternatives are there to Nike?
@@soccerruben1 champions and adidas i guess
Ruben Espinoza there are so many great and smaller brands out there. Is there a specific sports gear you’re looking for or just sports clothing and shoes in general?
They have always been calling women "crazy", even when we wanted to vote, become a doctor, or do anything really. So be "crazy !!" # Love your crazy.
I'll never buy a Nike product again. Money talks.
I haven’t heard of her but I love her! Such. A good role. Model.
This gave me chills, she is amazing thank you for standing up. Nike and Asics should formally apologize
Nike/Asics: You can not give a birth to a child and be good at sports.
Alysia: Hold my proteins.
Nike/Asics: You can not give a birth to a child and be good at sports.
Alysia: I just DID it! TWICE!❗️❗️
This story needed to be told. Bravo!
I never brought a single Nike products in my life. And I never will in future.
Nike is trash, they are just after money and don't care about people. You should buy Underarmor, its a very good brand.
As a father for a beautiful baby girl, no more nike
We appreciate people like you. Thanks for being a good role model for your daughter!
❤
Wow, just wow!An amazing woman and a STRONG MOTHER!👍
wowman woman!
"Nike, when are you going to start dreaming crazy?"
major OOOOOOOOOOOOF
It's so sad that Nike can't see the beauty of having a baby there would be no "Nike" if the mothers who had these men didn't have them 😒
There would be no “Humans” if men didn’t get those women pregnant
@@daddydiesel7177 You're being quite pathetic. Sure, conceiving a human life requires the contribution of both a man and a woman but BIRTHING that human into the world is something only a woman can do.
@@daddydiesel7177 lol, still more work and sacrifice for the woman. Ever wondered what would happen if women stopped at giving birth? There was no formula 200 years ago.
@@Doodleoodle01 And she can’t do it without a man meaning it takes both a man and a woman to make a child not just a woman
@@daddydiesel7177 You clearly did not read my comment well. I said it is a contribution of both a man and a women to concieve a child...
I am never looking at Nike in the same way again....
HELLO ADIDAS!
How do you know Adidas wouldn’t do the same?
im was along time ago notice nike is only interesting in money profit only...which their price too high compare too adidas..nike is too greedy everyday, want the whole world under their system,is not for people anymore....its for the rich n famous now....im not buy any nike brand since 1997...
Adidas values & promotes their deals with wealthy non-athlete celebrities (Kanye & Beyonce) over the actual female athletes they sponsor.
I’ve refused to buy their stuff since Michael Vick.
It took this?
Now this is how you fight for equal rights!
She is just so badass!!! I have so much appreciation for mothers❤️
Amen sister. I wish you all the best. Hope to see you this summer in Tokyo
Is it ironic that the ad before the video was a Nike ad?
Likely paid money on it because it had Nike in the name and so run an ad
Bro it was to set the tone for the video
Michael De Santa
0 money for the creators
ads? What is that?
@@AndreyFere89 In this case, the Nike ad was a part of the article to highlight Nike's hypocrisy - the commenter is mistaken.
