Yes I heard about her change of circumstances when she interviewed for the RUclips channel called Invisible People. Praise God she has a home now, and I hope many others will have homes soon
Just think of yourself or a any female relative or friend, who cannot walk down a street safely- so horrible for all the homeless women. One just froze to death in the small town I live in.
So sad.. I was homeless myself for about 2 years. And I never g on t raped, but I got DAMN close. There was definitely a few attempts that I am SOO lucky to have gotten out of. It shouldn't be like that.
@MadDilla ATCQstarr maybe if men werent such disgusting beasts they wouldn't rape women. It's all their fault. You CAN'T blame anyone for getting raped. The rapist is always guilty EDIT Alright well everyone got this comment the wrong way. when i say MEN I'm referring to the stereotype that our society and patriarchy create. I'm not saying men on the whole. And anyways, instead of feeling so hurt and saying "not all men" or those stupid coments, if you are a man and call yourself a feminist ally or you want to, you should be breaking that stereotype in your everyday life. Don't stay quiet. Speak up, your friends, your family. Do that
if you dont have makeup, nice clothes, resources etc people treat you like a piece of crap no matter who you are. Or they assume you're just "depressed".
Pineapple Torte I swear it’s fucking sad how these people who actually want to get out of this situation are treated. I’ve let a woman on the street sleep in my place until she got back on her feet. I never felt more blessed. My dads are Jewish but they always told me do right and right will follow you
When I was out of high school, I started working in a McDonald’s. I met this homeless lady who lived in a literal box with no air conditioning, no nothing besides her belongings. She would always come in. She managed to get a job there with me. We became good friends and boy she’d tell me stories about homelessness long story short she ended up staying there for about 2 years and became a store manager. Now she lives in a home in Texas, has recently married, and is living her best life.
Arien is no longer homeless! She works at Chipotle and has a safe place to stay each night! She was featured on the channel Invisible People. The channel has several videos of her while she was homeless, but the most recent update video states that she’s no longer on the streets!
Shirley is legit. Everyone is queen, love muffin, and baby. Showing everyone the compassion and dignity they deserve is what she is all about. Find her on instagram beauty2thestreetz, she has a link in her bio where you can donate gloves, deodorant, socks, caps, etc through amazon to help support her work.
Sheri Karussi exactly. all these ppl are gonna be like shes wasting her money etc. no if thats what it takes to help her feel alive & help her function thats it.
When I was a kid, my dad became homeless, even though he had a job. He slept in his car and still went to work and took care of himself. He would still come pick me up every other weekend to spend the day together. I know even at a young age how much he needed to spend time with me during those rough times. It broke my heart to see him in this situation but we made the best of those time. He never complain about anything, and always made sure I had a good time. It's been many years now and he has a better job and a home to go back to. Homelessness can happen to anybody, even the most hard working and kindhearted people like my dad.
Thank you for sharing your story. I'm glad you're grateful for what you have and also props to your dad, for making it alive! Wish you both of you the best! 💜💜💜
i stg this girl in my class said “teach them how to get a job” like girl, they know how to get a job, it’s because it’s hard to get a job and being homeless makes it harder to a home. i stg these people
"When they find out I'm homeless....they treat me differently" “Every homeless women I’ve ever met has been raped” This is not right. It's heartbreaking. No one "deserves" to be treated that way
@To Release is To Resolve Your under alot of these comments spreading hate for what?? Did a homeless man rob you? Or beat your ass? Because it sounds like you deserved it 😂, gtfo here you ungrateful douchebag
My heart goes out to these women. I was homeless for about a year, in Washington state, living in a truck with the man who was sex trafficking me. People want to judge and say "your nails are clean. not homeless". "you have makeup. not homeless" "you have tampons. not homeless" "you have a cell phone. not homeless" but having those resources is not the same as a home. I had a phone and a kindle fire from when I was NOT homeless before I lost my job--I kept them while I was homeless. Had no money for service--I could only connect in a local cafe or fast food place that had public wifi, maybe a grocery store. Used a wifi text messaging service to communicate when I could. My trafficker would steal me makeup so I looked better for dates. Did any of that erase the reality of me going home to a truck every night, with two broken windows, under piles of sleeping bags in the winter, still shivering underneath? No. Furthermore, being homeless is in of itself a shame-bringing situation. I loved to cover my face with makeup too, when my trafficker stole it from the store. I wanted to hide as much of myself from the world as I could, until I could no longer recognize my own face. I didn't want to be me anymore. If you've never been homeless, and you don't feel particularly inclined to care about them, just wait. My mom and dad didn't really think much of homeless people either...until I, their daughter, found myself on the streets. They care now. And so do I.
I hear you I was homeless and on the prostituting myself sometimes I wonder how I survived when 95% of my friends were coming up dead or how I didn't catch the virus using dirty syringes I thank the Lord that it's been 20 something yrs I've been out of that hell
kween x just cause you and I know don't mean everyone does. And there's nothing wrong with more education, there's no such thing as too much education or knowledge. Also you do realize that bringing awareness and education on this issue is one way of acting right..? And you also realize that people can do many things at once to help and can make more videos like this while "acting." Anyways what's wrong with asking a company that's going to make videos regardless to make videos regarding this? Your whole comment was just beyond ignorant so if I were you I'd hurry up and hop off that damn high horse of yours 🙄👋🏽🤦🏻♀️
It’s insane there are so many influencers and RUclipsrs who live In LA and have such big audiences and can influence so many....but yet I’ve never heard one talk about this problem.
Only thibg I've noticed were videos about giving $$ or expensive shoes to homeless people. I bet just for likes, attention and subscribers. Sad world we live in. Rich people get more things for free while others are sleeping on the street hungry 😡
So sad that they care only for themselves if it were them I'd give so much money to help these people, I'm a teen but when I'm older I'll do all I can, God bless them
@Reese Cup good points, but its not always directly an individuals choices or their family's that lead them to homelessness. it could be that they got laid off at a company that they didn't foresee such an outcome. Thus, they would struggle more to pay the rent and eventually slip through the cracks and wind up without a place to live. To say that it's the individual's choice to be working at a company that they could get laid off at or not earning enough money to afford the rising rent would be an illogical argument. There are surely ways to prevent homelessness but the long-term preventative options are not always available at dire circumstances when one's main focus is to stay afloat.
@To Release is To Resolve Just because there are creepy homeless people doesn't mean the whole population are filled with creeps. Gtfo here nobody wants to read your hateful ass words. #privelaged
I’ve volunteered in homeless shelters and anyone can end up homeless - I have helped former policemen, nurses and lawyers. How people can be against shelters is crazy, one day it could happen to them and where will be the first place they turn to? The shelters that offer help to those that need it most!
I have met some good friends at homeless shelters. I love volunteering at them. Sometimes all anyone needs is a smile and a reminder that you are human
reason many are against it is because of what they normally see., they see the crazy drug addicts, the creepy men who follow you around and harass you, etc etc. Also lets be honest.... there are not very many who dont commit some kind of burglary/theft crime.. a shelter would tank the property value of someone's home as well, so of course the home owner doesnt wanna loose on that. People dont know or even bother to see videos like this one. they rather throw out the whole barrel of apples over 2 or 3 bad ones
@@arienwilliams5966 ok sis! I see you❤ your channel doesn't have to be about makeup either. You have a bright personality. Vlogs, with your situation, would be great way to not only showcase you but bring awareness. Good luck, luv!!!
@@meow-xn8mt I don't have an opinion on that, because honestly, I don't give a shit. But people are throwing them away. So it's better to at least inform them that there's another way to make the palette that they paid for useful.
Many people become homeless because they can not live with their family members. Some families can often be toxic and harmful, and even just as unsafe as the streets.
Brittany Hernandez family is the worse. They’ll get tired of you not working ( like it’s your fault) they’ll get tired of you eating and not contributing then they’ll demand you leave. People don’t choose to live in shelters. We’re there because it’s our only choice.
@@michelewilliams2920 you can contribute in other ways until finding a job. What I have seen is the adult "child" moving home to their families often don't want to follow any rules, don't help much, want to come and go as they please. "I'm grown!" That usually turns toxic because the giver grows tired of giving, giving, giving. And often substance abuse drinking, drugs, etc are not allowed. Or they can't bring in a boyfriend.. moving home requires a level of humility that many cannot bear. But there's rules in shelters too so the streets are the ultimate option. My dad went through this cycle many times, people who give grow tired.
Fucken oath. No one chooses to be injured, sick, or jobless/homeless.... Ya know??? Shit just happens. And it happens to all of us. Its only a matter of time , before shit goes down and then they are thinking "how the fuck did I get here"
I as homeless twice not because of drugs, because my rent doubled in price and frist time from a physical relationship I now am bk on my feet but remember it can happen any day.. Its a scary world. Keepsafe love sent 2all💞💞

Thank you all for the positive words. I get a lot of negative backlash for helping the women the way I do but it's very nice to read positive words. You can view all of our work on IG @beauty2thestreetz. Much love and Blessings to you all.
You are such an inspiration and role model for us all. Thank you so much for the work that you do, no amount of backlash can hinder the invaluable difference you are making people's lives.
I am one of these women. Rent raised, lost my job and I needed to take a roommate. 2 seems later they had me arrested and I lost my home. Squatters have all the rights and landlords have none. I got out of jail the next day I was released but they put a NO CONTACT ORDER. I never went home again! I had the clothes on my back and my$500 car. This was all done with the law behind them
Yesenia Ventura true I’m saving up for a classic car but rent isn’t letting me that’s why many of my family members are moving to small towns with a small population because that’s where rent could be 1,000 for a one room apartment
That begs the question, what right do they have to live in LA? If they can't afford it, why not move to Alabama where the cost of living is significantly lower? Why should Californian tax payers shoulder the burden of their failure to make good decisions?
Yea what if that shelter fills with the homeless people that shoot up heroine and do drugs. I’m not saying all homeless people do that but a lot of them do. I wouldn’t want those type of people in my neighborhood by little kids and schools.
I wish so badly that I was a billionaire on billionaire and could just help out soooo many people in need, even those on drugs who need housing and rehabilitation, single parents, immigrants, all my family!! All I want is life is happiness for people, and this video just showed proof that other people truly do too❤️❤️
I live in NY where their bringing shelters and taking motels that were in the area and turning them into men’s homeless shelters and a lot of people in the neighborhood are trying to get rid of them for the fact that the crime is so much higher and the neighborhoods are becoming much more dangerous for those that live here
Talaiya Jones have you ever been to an area with a shelter? Imagine wanting to raise your family in a safe, drug free and healthy environment. Stop judging people and go talk to residents who experience the issues that come along with living by a homeless shelter.
We need to stop saying "what if it was you" because it doesn't work. Most people like that cannot ever see beyond their own skin and don't care because it isn't happening to them and they often have credit, family, or social class to ever prevent it from happening. And most well off people I have met where it DID happen still lived better than those who came from little to begin with.
There are full family's out there in skid row that we see every Saturday with shirley. They need those tents and shelters. If you were looking one of these families in the eye it would change your perspective!
One time during thanksgiving I was giving bags of food and money to homeless people and I gave one to this lady and when she saw the 6 dollars her heart just melted she started crying tears of joy! I was so confused back then bc I was supper young but now that I’m older I see that even 6 dollars are like 100 dollars to these people on the street! ❤️🥺
i want to share a little story myself, one time i was going to Dollar tree with my step dad. and on the way there was a homeless lady with a dog, i was going to by myself some snacks and other stuff. but when I saw that lady and her dog my heart was feeling something, I felt like I had to do something. when i went into dollar tree I headed straight for the dog aisle, I got the dog a bag of dog food, some treats, and a cute little leash. i was gonna get the dog a sweater but it already had one. then I headed for the lady aisle, I got some pads and tampons for the lady, then headed for the food aisle, got the lady a couple bags of chips, some gum, and bottled water. I paid for everything and then I walked over to her and gave everything to her, I told the lady that every thing will be okay. when she looked into the bag she just started crying, all I could do was give her a hug I was trying not to cry. me and her prayed together, and I told her that God has a plan for her. ever since, whenever I see homeless people I alwaysssss start crying. there's my story !!:)
My dad is in a Motorcycle Club (M.C.) and honestly most of the MCs we have met are so kind and trying to do what they can to help the community. With my dad's MC they raise awareness about ALS and Down Syndrome. There's another MC that protects children when testifying against their abusers.
No, they want to help homeless people survive, but their problem is that Los Angeles creates too many incentives for homeless people to live there, meaning that save up money from all around the country and bus themselves into the city. They are frustrated that people are literally camping right outside their homes and businesses, which decreases property value and is just annoying. No person who buys or rents a house with their own money should have to put up with drug addicts and alcoholics living outside their doorstep. I'm not saying all of them, but 90% of them are druggies. You guys should let dirty homeless people sit on your front lawn smoking pot and we will see how you like it.
heybae but some people were born into wealth and didn’t earn it themselves and look down on other people and some are born into poverty and can’t get out. But trump supporters and most rich folk don’t realize that and only care about themselves, which you seem to do as well
Maria Keys would u give up ur house for homeless? You probably wouldn’t because I think u would want to care for urself too Talking about “they only care for yourself, and you seem to do as well” u sound so dumb
@Artoria Pendragon because a homeless woman totally can take care of a child. Imagine having to pay for the hospital and other things kids need when you can't even afford basic shelter.
@Artoria Pendragon I've commented on your comments before. You can't expect someone who has gone through such a thing to keep the baby, and people should be able to have te choice to keep the baby or not.
@Artoria Pendragon of course homelessness sucks, but a woman shouldn't have to go through pregnancy and birthday for a baby from a man she doesn't love from an act that she did not consent to. It doesn't matter if there is money to take care of the baby, the choice should be available
I still don’t get what you’re trying to fight for. No matter what the state or location is, we are trying to keep ourselves alive. We can TRY to keep whatever children alive but in the end, we have to be selfish and keep ourselves alive. How do you really expect ANY homeless, no money, no family, no job or status, take care of a child that was not in their intention to give birth to. IF they knew they were unable to take care of them, then they have to prevent it before it suffers anymore. Being thrown into the garbage, abandoned, creeps that pry on children, fetuses & babies. AND Not everyone or anyone is willing to care for a child that’s not theirs or take them in from abandonment. No one is obligated really, it’s called Self Love, Self Respect & Self Care. we. Cannot. Care. For others. If we cannot. Care. For. Ourselves. Get it straight through your damn mind.
It is so crazy to think how some of us are obsessing over designer items when people are barley getting by. I am so grateful for the life I live and may everyone feel the same. God bless them and every single one of them are so beautiful.
WOW, this video put me in tears. I was homeless from the age 16-19 & use to sleep ANYWHERE I could. Tents, parks, friends, but the worst was a porty potty in the middle of winter & I use to still get on the bus at 4 AM everyday to go to work to better my life & here I am now 21 with a beautiful daughter, a 2 bedroom town home & 2 cars paid in cash. I know how this struggle feels as I too never had the chance to get ready like I once did with no where to go so I always looked rough but I got through them tough times and I have gotten so far from where I was back than, blessings happen just take the steps needed to better yourself & your life & I believe anything can happen!
Angelica Martinez such a beautiful story. I’ve been researching the best options for helping the homeless in my community...would you say that offering resources for long-term change would be helpful? Is it doable? For instance, offering a free meal to the homeless, but also offering a course on finding employment, money management, etc while they eat their meal? (I hope this doesn’t come off as judgmental. I really just want to know if this would be something that proves to be helpful.)
@@karliloving126 yes I do believe providing any and all resources would be so helpful for someone in that situation, I don't think it sounds judgemental, it just sounds like your someone willing to be a helping hand and thats all people need some times!
Thank you so much! Hope to be able to put these resources into action soon! I work at a church and my prayer is for us to begin to offer resources like these in our community!
I watched this thinking 'Homeless women have more important things to worry about then their beauty'. This changed my mind. Mental health and mindset are important components to help them fix their lives. If a little makeup helps with this, then it's a good thing.
People who complain about them spending their money on makeup are ignorant. I'm glad this changed your mind. Much better than buying drugs or alcohol or even cigarettes. She is doing her best to take care of herself. God bless her.
Dumb bitches who thought they would make it in L.A when its mad expensive then when they use what money they do have boom homeless almost like there is a solution. DONT LIVE OUTSIDE OF YOUR MEANS
*When i was homeless, going to a timmies washroom, or a public park washroom and taking like a clean mop bucket i got from the dollar store and filling it with warm soapy water and going into the stall and being able to wash myself, then washing my face and hair in the sink, brushing my teeth, brushing my hair, and putting on some of the makeup and perfume i got from the Dollar store made me feel SO much better... Made me feel like a woman again.. Made me feel HUMAN again... There were plenty of times after i did all my stuff and rinsed out my undies, my socks, all my clothes, id hang them on the park bench and just relax while they dried in the sun and id do my doodles and sketches in my book, or lay on my dollar store towel and just sun bathe, paint my nails etc... There were a couple times i had some really nice men approach me and compliment me and my art... Told me i was very beautiful and one time a guy brought me coffee and a sandwich just so he could sit and talk to me for a bit lol..felt just like any girl would on a date in the park...i felt pretty, and he gave me the time of day which he never would have otherwise... It made me SOOO happy that with just a little makeup , a little soap, a couple spritzes of perfume and people would treat you SO different.. Made me so happy that they couldnt even tell that i was homeless, and theyd just treat me like a normal person.. It sounds silly but my makeup and beauty routine kept me going out there, people just look at you different.. They treat you different.. I learned VERY quickly that the opportunities for jobs, favors, food, help from shelters etc, really did depend on how you looked...i got talked too ALOT more and people were willing to go out of their way to be kind and try to help me anyway they could when i had my makeup and hair done.. It was one of the things that kept me sane out there definitely. I guess alot of people felt bad? Idk.. That a young, kind, "pretty" girl was out on the streets all by herself with nothing, and theyd go out of their way to talk to me and help me, and when my hair was a mess or just unwashed and pulled into a ponytail, and didnt have my makeup done and just had my baggy comfy clothes on, most of the time people wouldnt even talk to me or it was like i was invisible..or if i tried to talk to them, spark up a conversation or ask questions theyd just be like "nope sorry" or "cant help you"... Or theyd just get away from you as quick as possible and not even really treat you like a person, just a "homeless girl"*

@Amber Wallace-Mustufina It helps with self consciousness, not all people have money to be getting plastic surgery, I mean good for you for being naturally pretty and confident.
Amber Wallace-Mustufina good for you, but for these women living on the streets, makeup helps them feel better. I don’t see how your comment has anything to do with the plight of homeless women, including homeless women who wish to wear makeup.
So true, I feel like I'm subhuman and worthless, It's so hard to keep up a positive vibe when on streets. All your energy is spent on staying warm, or getting out of extreeme heat, worrying about where you can go to the bathroom. Getting clean water to drink. You don't have time for anything but survival. It is next to impossible to get off the streets once you are on them. A 18 month waiting list for a shelter you usually get robbed or raped at, is of zero help. Plus the shelter wants to call you and keeping a phone charged is a HUGE ordeal. Even McDonalds wont let you just sit there to charge a phone. It's a very real struggle. I knew it was tough, but had no idea how tough untill I had to live it.
Every single one of those people deserve better. They need to have a home, they need to have a chance. People need to treat them better, give them a chance

LoonToon I agree, but a lot of these people are mentally ill or have long term illnesses. When you are faced with these it can be very difficult to think clearly and make proper decisions or take action. You are at your most vulnerable. Without proper care (and if you don’t have supportive family) this can be near impossible. So it’s not just merely an issue of decision making.
There’s a homeless man in town that my mum sees every day on her way to work. Every day she goes into Greggs and buys him a coffee and a pasty/sandwich/cake etc. Then she gives them to him and just chats with him for about an hour each day. He’s never asked for anything, and he’s so grateful just to have that positive human interaction every day.
I was homeless last year here in Phoenix Arizona. Wasn't too bad, just struggling to find certain job because of the 2020 pandemic. I had to find shelter, and was there for 6 months got housing and still in housing. Still struggling, and it's an everyday thing near my area. I wore makeup yes to cover the pain, and showered with baby wipes, and Suave shampoo from the church group. I'm still living.
Women standing up for the female collective for self gain is not amazing. It's their nature. Women not acting like solipsistic misandrists and instead trying to also help the homeless men also would be amazing!
I Am Individuality God you are dumb, but I hope you can rely on your physical attributes because based on your speech, you don’t seem to have much else going for you 💕
Katelyn well, by helping them feel better mentally, that’s a big step in the right direction. She’s doing what she can to the best of her abilities, and there’s nothing wrong with that. She’s helping these women feel stronger, and better about themselves. Maybe the makeovers will help them to get a job? I think she’s doing amazing things.

I've had to use socks as pads when I was in the middle of nowhere traveling homeless. Or sometimes you gotta just bleed all over yourself and find a new pair of pants :D
They should save and get a menstrual cup. Even charities and NGOs should donate free cups to women and teach them how to use them. A cup is reusable ( upto 10 years), easy to sterilize (just boil) leak proof and doesn't need much space!
I appreciate what you have done to show the good people who are doing something to help others. Yes, LA is full of homeless people and this is caused by ... everything you can think of from drugs, greediness in raising rent, criminality, lack of financial education for some of those people, and many more... something needs to be done right away on this.
Even a hi, hello, or wave will make someone’s day. There was a man crying and I said hello to him and we had a 30 minute conversation about his dog and his childhood. Just be nice
Love that. I also heard on a podcast that take your time to ask a homeless person you pass by and ask their name, call them by their name, and have a normal conversation with them. Treat them just like a human should be treated. You don't have to give them money if you don't want to, you can offer them things instead
there are so many solutions. I think the best thing to do is for people to network together & pull their resources. Its cheaper for three people to live in a three bedroom apartment than for one person to rent a 1 bedroom. Get off credit cards, buy bulk, save rainy day fund
I’ve been homeless, clean hair is such a relief. The fight to end homelessness is a long road that is always being extended. I would love to see a end to all of it, but I don’t think I will. It’s sad. I tried to get a guy into a shelter 2 years ago. No shelter would take him in. He was looking for his son. We found out his son was homeless too. And no drugs were involved. The person he was staying with kicked out because he couldn’t afford to pay more rent. Father and son now work as laborers for a tree service that travels.
I think you’re being naive there is narrative that they are trying to push if what she is doing is so great why are many against it? And why are there no police you don’t think it’s a interesting question? And why are those women single mothers? You don’t think there trying to play victim? I have seen other parts of the world homeless people who are actively working towards to getting back into society. Why are they not doing that together as a group? Also why waste money on makeup these people are obsessed they cannot even think maturely maybe buying supplies is more important then makeup. It hard to feel sorry when they keep making poor choices. And the woman with 3 children not married single is that really wise to have all those children with a guy who won’t commit? Homelessness is a real issue but without context people are not going to have the full picture and so no solution would be made. And this video does a huge injustice all it does it get people only forcusing on tear jerking issue instead of forcusing on the bigger problem that needs to be resolved.
Kenshin 4 u don’t know the story of the single mother. Maybe the “guy who can’t commit” isn’t the father of the kids or she didn’t know he was abusive at the time or maybe she was raped by him and her kids were the result before u judge put ur self in there shoes the reality of being homeless. They are all just trying their best to find a home
Romana J I will never put myself in there shoes with out a full clear story don’t be naive there trying to push a narrative and when u leave out so much information it’s impossible for us outsiders to know the truth and can actually end up sending or donating money towards a false cause or criminal activity. It can happen and does happen and its a high possibility when these people have no clear path and wasting money on makeup is useless seriously no one will be sorry for them. Also it’s naive to assume you know the reason for her being single mother the most likely reason would be she is a worthless person who is incapable of keeping her mates satisfied which is a common accurance these days. You have to wonder why are these people not coming together as a group to help themselves get out of the situation there in and why no disregard for the people who don’t want them around because of the influence of gangs and violence when the homeless live next to them? This video did little to no justice for these people and to me I see it as a total fail u might not like it but I don’t like story’s without all the information presented so I can make a good informed decision.
I grew up in a very violent, abusive, home with two drug addicted parents then I moved in with my abusive ex, I was tired of the abuse and trauma so I took my kids and left but had trouble holding down a job due to my lifelong depression and PTSD luckily I got section 8 and my kids and I are in very stable peaceful safe home for once in my life. Thank God. Safe stable housing should be available for everyone no matter what!
i came down to the comment section to see people complaining about her “wasting money on makeup” and instead saw so much love and i love it so so much.
@Mrs Bates Yeah but like, think about how men go to work regardless of dark circles. It's wack that women need a certain amount makeup to look professional in some work places. It should be enough to look clean and neat.
@Amber Wallace-Mustufina my sister and I have eczema and very dry skin. We eat healthy and drink a lot of water. We have been visiting a dermatologist since elementary school, but with no permanent cure possible. I need to spend money on tons of skincare products just to stop my skin to basically peel off my face in the morning. Even then, my skin looks awful. I don't wear makeup, but I'm often told I should. Once I enter the workforce, it'll probably become a requirement
If I have to hear a man ask me if I'm sick one more time because I didn't feel like spending 25 minutes in the mirror or clogging my pores that day..... It's one thing if my job is being a model, it's another thing if I'm doing paper work in a cubicle, running a department or trying to teach a student math.
This is exactly why the right is pro-gun. You can't rely on police protection, and owning a gun is one of the most empowering things a women can do for herself in terms of safety, peace of mind, and freedom.
Star Cherry when have they ever done anything about sexual violence, even for women who aren’t homeless? Nothing. They don’t ever do anything for sexual assault victims but give their abusers a slap on the wrist.
Alex Meggoe my number’s a bit off. It’s around 5%. www.rainn.org/statistics/criminal-justice-system so your little “oh they’re innocent, falsely accused people end up in jail all the time” act is crap cuz most actual rapists never even get jail time, let alone somebody who’s been falsely accused. If &/or when it does happen, it’s extremely rare.
@@nickwojno-oranski7101 Where and how exactly would a homeless woman get a gun in this right wing fantasy? Where would she go to learn to use it properly? If the attacker knows his prey will likely have a gun wouldn't he have one too? How does both of them having a gun help?
If not Ellen then Robin McGraw, Dr. Phill's wife started her own skin care line. Proceeds go for Domestic violence awareness! Something as simple as a tampon or pad can restore dignity to a women. LA has the resources to make a difference but the city is greedy. People are on waiting lists for years and makes the process extremely hard to get the resources so ppl give up trying.
Leaux Daniels I honestly have this as a question. Not trying to be rude, but why don’t these people try and save up their minimal coins and then head on a bus and move to a more friendly affordable state? LA and NYC are known for being very expensive. Wouldn’t this be easier
arry starks That is a very good question. It all comes down to the mindset. I work in mental health and some homeless people are homeless due to mental health issues. Then there are some homeless people who like being homeless-hard to believe but I see it all the time. There is a patient that makes the money to afford housing without help but refuses to and is content with her tent on the street. She knows where to go where she can shower daily and get free meals.
@@leauxdaniels8155 That's what I'm saying. The city doesn't mind catering to celebrities and richer people. They should help everyone, especially those in need.
The reality of how much it hurts, how scary it is, to be homeless can never hit you much harder than when you find yourself walking down LA's Skidrow on your first ever night of being homeless and having to go from one homeless shelter to the next, until you've made it to the very last one, your very last hope, and to have been turned down by EVERY.SINGLE.ONE. of them because they had NO space "for atleast the next 3 to 4 days, try back then"...That was my, and my fiance's (he's now my husband) reality when we found ourselves homeless for the first time when we had to leave a carnival we had been working for when they decided to stop paying everyone cause they were not making enough money to cover payroll. We were trying to find a new carnival to call home but we had no money, no transportation, were stuck in LA and didn't know anyone. We lived on the streets of LA for about a week. Til his family finally could get us a greyhound bus ride to their home in Merced, Ca (about 8 hours or so north of LA)...but that week was a blur or absolute terror, confusion, and a bottomless pit of hopelessness. That was around 2013. Flash forward to 2018...we are in florida in my hometown. My hubby had a steady job at a recycling center for 3 years when they SUDDENLY shut down, leaving everyone there without a job. The person we were renting a room from kicked us out 2 days after my hubby lost his job. We had NO WHERE to go. See how fast that can happen? For 3 years everything was steady...then boom, the rug is pulled from beneath you and you can only land flat on your ass. We ended up in a tent in the woods near my mom's house (me and my mom do not get along, she never wanted a kid, i was raised by my grandparents..so she was NO help) and for 4 months that is where we remained. Every night coyotes, racoons, spiders, mosquitos, ants, possums, ect ect ect tried to/sometimes succeeded to get in to our tent or tear holes in it. Most of the times all of our clothes got soaked/everything in our tent when it rained. Situations like this will make you have thoughts you never thought'd you have. Of feeling like maybe you'd be better off just..."ending it all"...horrible thoughts. I cried myself to sleep more night than i didn't. Went hungry many nights. Then, my cousin came to our rescue and got us out of the tent and let us stay with her for about 2 months. Then my husband got his income taxes finally and that gave us JUST enough to be able to move in to a tiny RV for $650 a month. But i cant express how much that RV felt like a mansion compared to a tent in the woods. Then my husband was able, with the help of a friend, get a job installing rain gutter where he has been working ever since...making about $700 to 900 a week. We saved up and got in to a 1 bedroom triplex for $700 a month. Then after a year there our landlord had a 2 bedroom house come available for $853 a month and we happily agreed to it and we have been here ever since for about a year and a half and LOVE IT here. We are so happy. I even ride horses and own my own horse again. We have a 2003 chevy silverado. Life is AMAZING now. But to be clear, and honest, that fear is ALWAYS in the back of my mind that we could lose this ALL at ANY moment. All is takes is another job loss and thats IT. We couldn't pay rent. So while life is great now and im happy, i know all TOO well how easily it can all come undone. But when they say this can happen to anyways...it can...it truly can. Especially when you don't have "mommy and daddy's money" to depend on or to run home to. :( Sorry for the long story... but i wish for everyone to be able to get out of homelessness.

Heartbreaking
Just think of yourself or a any female relative or friend, who cannot walk down a street safely- so horrible for all the homeless women. One just froze to death in the small town I live in.
This is really hard to process.
wanted to cry at that part
The rapist is always guilty
EDIT
Alright well everyone got this comment the wrong way.
when i say MEN I'm referring to the stereotype that our society and patriarchy create. Do that
"When they find out I'm homeless....they treat me differently"
That's heartbreaking to me💔😭💞
They should treat people who are homeless with respect
if you dont have makeup, nice clothes, resources etc people treat you like a piece of crap no matter who you are. Or they assume you're just "depressed".
ILovePEPSI lmao get the fuck out it’s 2019
Pineapple Torte I swear it’s fucking sad how these people who actually want to get out of this situation are treated. I’ve let a woman on the street sleep in my place until she got back on her feet. I never felt more blessed. My dads are Jewish but they always told me do right and right will follow you
they do.
Now she lives in a home in Texas, has recently married, and is living her best life.
that’s amazing!

To Release is To Resolve stfu and leave
@To Release is To Resolve Your under alot of these comments spreading hate for what?? Did a homeless man rob you? Or beat your ass? Because it sounds like you deserved it 😂, gtfo here you ungrateful douchebag
Yes indeed!
I am so sorry you went through that. I hope all is well now
Love you thanks for sharing
It’s very brave of you to share this. Thank you. I’m so glad that you were able to escape that mess and now you’re in a better situation.

"homeless is NOT a choice. there is a story behind every struggle." I love these words
Yep
@Reese Cup good points, but its not always directly an individuals choices or their family's that lead them to homelessness. it could be that they got laid off at a company that they didn't foresee such an outcome. Thus, they would struggle more to pay the rent and eventually slip through the cracks and wind up without a place to live. To say that it's the individual's choice to be working at a company that they could get laid off at or not earning enough money to afford the rising rent would be an illogical argument. There are surely ways to prevent homelessness but the long-term preventative options are not always available at dire circumstances when one's main focus is to stay afloat.

I’ve volunteered in homeless shelters and anyone can end up homeless - I have helped former policemen, nurses and lawyers. How people can be against shelters is crazy, one day it could happen to them and where will be the first place they turn to? The shelters that offer help to those that need it most!
Preach it
Jesus will slap them on Judgement Day.

Bless those kind bikers and the woman trying to help out.
The lady with the green hair has such a beautiful personality. Bless her heart
God bless that beautiful woman!!
Yes she does! She's so inspiring
Dwayne Jones she’s so beautiful aswell

“Motorcycle Gangs are dangerous and scary”
This kind gang:
Zahira Animations they are just bored
Motorcycle gangs are homies.
James Stevens bored enough to help the homeless? That’s a win in my book
Motorcycle gangs seem to always fit into one of two categories: scary white supremacists or kind philanthropists.
My dad is in a Motorcycle Club (M.C.) and honestly most of the MCs we have met are so kind and trying to do what they can to help the community. With my dad's MC they raise awareness about ALS and Down Syndrome. There's another MC that protects children when testifying against their abusers.
I’m not gonna lie but this girl does better makeup than a lot of girls that have expensive makeup and ikea vanities 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
_true_
Not IKEA vanities 🤣🤣.. I feel you girl!!
her dye job was wack tho, that blonde either needed some toner or more time
I kind of wish she would do my makeup. It just looks so subtle and nice on her.
If I stood next to her and have people guess which one of us is secretly homeless, they would probably guess that it's me, lol.
Damn the people who are protesting are so disgusting... like you are seriously threatened by people being given a bed for the night?
No, they want to help homeless people survive, but their problem is that Los Angeles creates too many incentives for homeless people to live there, meaning that save up money from all around the country and bus themselves into the city. They are frustrated that people are literally camping right outside their homes and businesses, which decreases property value and is just annoying. No person who buys or rents a house with their own money should have to put up with drug addicts and alcoholics living outside their doorstep. I'm not saying all of them, but 90% of them are druggies. You guys should let dirty homeless people sit on your front lawn smoking pot and we will see how you like it.
Maybe because people who actually work and have houses are mad that homeless are just getting it for free lol
heybae but some people were born into wealth and didn’t earn it themselves and look down on other people and some are born into poverty and can’t get out. But trump supporters and most rich folk don’t realize that and only care about themselves, which you seem to do as well
Maria Keys would u give up ur house for homeless? You probably wouldn’t because I think u would want to care for urself too
Talking about “they only care for yourself, and you seem to do as well” u sound so dumb
heybae insults literally just state that you lost the argument
“Every homeless woman I’ve ever met, has been raped.” We need to open our eyes and get our priorities straight
and consider in Alabama she could potentially be forced to raise the products of such an evil act
Shirley is a literal angel walking amongst us. Bless her.

Being homeless makes you feel like you aren't even a real person. When I lived in my car, I did my makeup etc every day to just try to blend in
The shelter system I worked for took unused make-up and hair dye for this reason.
@Amber Wallace-Mustufina and that's great and many women wear makeup and that's great. Some people just like to modify their look.
“Everyone needs to look pretty”
No, everyone needs to FEEL pretty
Yes, but if makeup makes them feel pretty and fit into society better, then it's worth it to help a woman's self esteem.

Shout out to Shirley and to those bikers for doing what the neighborhood should've been doing a long time ago.
Kenshin 4 people would treat them different it they didn’t take care of themselves so they do little things like makeup to help fit into society

This also exposes how we need to stop considering makeup to be a Necessity for women to be “professional” at work.
YES
@Mrs Bates Yeah but like, think about how men go to work regardless of dark circles. It's wack that women need a certain amount makeup to look professional in some work places. It should be enough to look clean and neat.
@Amber Wallace-Mustufina my sister and I have eczema and very dry skin. We eat healthy and drink a lot of water. Once I enter the workforce, it'll probably become a requirement

The police need to do something about the sexual violence against homeless women.
This is shameful
This is exactly why the right is pro-gun. You can't rely on police protection, and owning a gun is one of the most empowering things a women can do for herself in terms of safety, peace of mind, and freedom.
Star Cherry when have they ever done anything about sexual violence, even for women who aren’t homeless? Nothing. They don’t ever do anything for sexual assault victims but give their abusers a slap on the wrist.

I don't think she is liberal enough for Ellen!!
If not Ellen then Robin McGraw, Dr. Phill's wife started her own skin care line. Proceeds go for Domestic violence awareness! Something as simple as a tampon or pad can restore dignity to a women. There are thousands of biker groups that support homeless shelters and Domestic violence victims. Bikers against Child Abuse ect! We are riders that ride for 100's of causes from Veterans to animal shelters. We ride for cures and causes. Our favorite is giving disabled kids rides on Harley's at summer camps. Bikers have the biggest hearts!
Can someone who has social media please forward this? Thank u very much!! And blessings to all xx
LA has the resources to make a difference but the city is greedy. People are on waiting lists for years and makes the process extremely hard to get the resources so ppl give up trying.
I agree. LA is open to all of these celebrities, but don't care enough to support people in need. Sad world we live in.
Leaux Daniels I honestly have this as a question. Not trying to be rude, but why don’t these people try and save up their minimal coins and then head on a bus and move to a more friendly affordable state? LA and NYC are known for being very expensive. Wouldn’t this be easier
Angela W it’s not even about the the celebrities, the city itself has the money.
arry starks That is a very good question.
Refinery 29 is doing an awesome job with the Shady series. We all take beauty for granted and use beauty products without too much introspection about how it affects lives. Thank you guys for all the education ❤️
+sanch203 Wow! Thank you so much for this comment and for enjoying our series!
Yes, please continue the Shady series. I've learnt a lot from this series and likely some of them might still be unknown if you didn't expose and uncover them to the world.
No matter who the heck you are, YOU can end up homeless too.
EMO ANGEL SINNER if u choose to. Most choose not to
m J yes !!! Anyone can end up homeless
Oschner wait how do you choose to be homeless it isn’t their fault if their rent goes up or they lose their job etc.(I don’t mean to be rude)
@@leafhidden why do you think anyone would choose to be in this situation?
U sure ariana grande, billie ellish etc
Thankyou for this video. After dealing with homelessness myself, Feeling beautiful and meeting your TRUE eyes in the mirror is an immeasurable step to confidence, confidence and self-love are the first steps to be able to figure things out. I feel lucky living in Australia, but, it's still so difficult. Your stats are right from what I know, and women, ARE most vulnerable, I do feel so deepy for the men dealing with these problems, I hope men can feel beautiful again too, and everyone to grow into their lives with dignity, humility, and a drive for purpose
Homeless people are still people. I don’t know why people who have money and think they’re above anyone else is stupid. We’re all human.
I don’t even have words for the girl with green hair. She’s a real queen 👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
