I was born just a tad too late to really get the best of the 1980s glory days of metal. I was in high school from 1991-1995. I need that time machine that one commenter above discussed.
My go-to fashion at the time was to wear a leather jacket with studs on the sleeves, layered over that with a sleeveless denim jumper with patches from Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Destruction, etc. . Interestingly, for some reason I was wearing sweatpants and very strange basketball shoes (or something like that). It was certainly laughably lame, but back then I was 100 times more lively than I am now.
I was born in 2000 and didn't have anyone interested in Metal, so I got offically into stuff beyond Metalcore and Nu Metal in college and post but if it's something that I miss about Metal, it's the fun aspect! Euronymous tried to make Metal (with Black Metal) as unfun as possible and this genre is fucking big, and how everything became either too techy, either waay to much of a demonstration of art with mixed genres element, where tf is this fun era of Metal, I guess only in Thrash and Death can still be found... I kinda understand why lots switched to Hardcore alongside Death Metal after the 80's when Thrash already released it's most amazing stuff...
