Many thanks to Rick and the team! This is my 2nd time watching this video, after the 1st time that must have been so long ago that I don't remember when. Have to say that I enjoyed it even better this second time around. Been to Venice 3 times, but still appreciate every minute of this video. Thank you all for creating this for us.
Thanks Rick Steves ! Your video is what I need to find. I had 1 time to Euro, but I cann't travel too much, and with your video I can feel how beautifull Euro !
Go out of season! Get to the main sights early or late, pick just one or two attractions each day and spend a lot of time getting lost, people watching and eating in small family restaurants, riding around on the vaporetti. Magic!!
Thanks for this advice Sue, I'm researching our trip for September, hopefully we'll be off season a bit. I like the idea of one or two attractions a day, getting lost...
Better then arriving early, buy your tickets in advance so you do not have to wait in line. I went in January so there were no lines. Unfortunately, many businesses on Murano and Burano were closed, It seems they only operate during the more active times of the tourist season. Another piece of advice is learn how the water buses work. ACTV & Alilaguna.
THANK YOU! This is good to know. I am researching for a trip next year, and I want to visit mostly small towns. If they shut down in the fall, that would be very disappointing.
Rick’s guides gave me the courage to travel to Italy sans tour guide in 1992 when I was in my early 20s. It was a big deal back then as European travel wasn’t as popular with Americans as it is now. Thanks Rick!
Another of Rick Steve''s glorious travelogues to start another day in lockdown! This brought back memories of our trip to Venice, which followed Rick' to Torcello and Murano. The glass blowing alone was an extraordinary experience, and the Murano chandelier we brought back has been a joy for years.
4:28 Mistake! the bridge connects Venice to Europe! not only to Italy. In Venice we say: If Venice didn't have a bridge, Europe would be an island! ciao :-D
I have to commend you on what an excellent job you do, I've been to Venice a few times and still your program was enlightening and informative and gave me new destinations to visit.

I liked this "trip" to Venice more than I expected. HINT: To those who like to move onto the next video quickly. Don't. Rick shows his outtakes right at the end. He gets more than a little silly sometimes. I want to party with you, Dude! 😉👍 LL
Great history from this place, you where lucky enough to see the Rialto Bridge without it being under reconstruction as it has been for the last months. And they added a horrible Diesel commercial on the center of it, terrible! Anyway, I recently finished my video of Venice, didn't show much of Rialto for that reason, but did showed a lot of the city and architecture hope you can get a chance to check it out!
Venice and its lagoon form a unique and enchanting destination that captivates visitors with its historic charm, architectural marvels, and intricate network of canals.
When the original dwellers sunk those piles into the waters centuries ago were they aware they were creating an Eden with a mortal life ; one which is now shuffling to its imminent extinction . Brilliant Venice which has seen scenes of unparalleled grandeur and riches and has hosted millions of enchanted visitors throughout the ages is now finally getting ready for the day of reckoning .One wonders whether the tourists who now flock to it's landmarks and monuments are aware that they are participating in the death rites of this enfeebled City . Whether Venice will be attain salvation through some miracle of modern technology is to be seen ,else it will end up as yet another Atlantis .
Ignore this comment as this is a personal msg About that dream about doctors. For me, there's nothing wrong taking pride of that. Aside from having a rewarding future of being able to help and heal people, health amounts of pride is also included in that. Whenever you feel like giving up on your studies, just look forward to that kind of future where you'll be able to help people heal.
Venice is a city where the population has served the rich forever. If you understand the language and are shopping, you will hear the truth, as clerks exchange snide remarks and complaints about tourists. They went from slaving for the rich to slaving for tourists.
Many thanks to Rick and the team! This is my 2nd time watching this video, after the 1st time that must have been so long ago that I don't remember when. Have to say that I enjoyed it even better this second time around.

Thanks Rick Steves ! Your video is what I need to find. I had 1 time to Euro, but I cann't travel too much, and with your video I can feel how beautifull Euro !

+Sue Harvey September and early October are ideal for a Venice sojourn.

Gordon Hall you may just hear those sirens go off in October and find yourself walking across ‘card tables’ in October - but it’s ALL GOOD!
Rick’s guides gave me the courage to travel to Italy sans tour guide in 1992 when I was in my early 20s. It was a big deal back then as European travel wasn’t as popular with Americans as it is now. Thanks Rick!
This is a solid video! I've just returned from Venice and also explore Murano, Burano and Torcello islands. it's absolutely stunning

When I lived there 55 years ago, it cost 10 lire to cross a canal by gondola (about 1.5 cents).

Vernon Lobb VENETIANS don’t SLAVE for anyone
I need to know the name of the music playing in the background at 3:20. Its haunting, beautiful and makes the video perfect. Does anybody know?
that part hit me hard as well.
12:46 Rick asks locals for direction in perfect Italian and then blows it by responding "Gracias".
I don't think locals care. Most of them can speak some spanish, and it's a common mistake when you know both languages, they tend to overlap.
We think Venice in one of the most beautiful cities in Italy
Bellissima !!
Awesome
Thanks very fine video sir please to show more videos in your you tube
Hello Steves Rick :)
