Many thanks to Rick and the team! This is my 2nd time watching this video, after the 1st time that must have been so long ago that I don't remember when. Have to say that I enjoyed it even better this second time around. Been to Venice 3 times, but still appreciate every minute of this video. Thank you all for creating this for us.
Thanks Rick Steves ! Your video is what I need to find. I had 1 time to Euro, but I cann't travel too much, and with your video I can feel how beautifull Euro !
4:28 Mistake! the bridge connects Venice to Europe! not only to Italy. In Venice we say: If Venice didn't have a bridge, Europe would be an island! ciao :-D
Venice and its lagoon form a unique and enchanting destination that captivates visitors with its historic charm, architectural marvels, and intricate network of canals.
I liked this "trip" to Venice more than I expected. HINT: To those who like to move onto the next video quickly. Don't. Rick shows his outtakes right at the end. He gets more than a little silly sometimes. I want to party with you, Dude! 😉👍 LL
When the original dwellers sunk those piles into the waters centuries ago were they aware they were creating an Eden with a mortal life ; one which is now shuffling to its imminent extinction . Brilliant Venice which has seen scenes of unparalleled grandeur and riches and has hosted millions of enchanted visitors throughout the ages is now finally getting ready for the day of reckoning .One wonders whether the tourists who now flock to it's landmarks and monuments are aware that they are participating in the death rites of this enfeebled City . Whether Venice will be attain salvation through some miracle of modern technology is to be seen ,else it will end up as yet another Atlantis .
Rick's video is making me wish my trip to Venice were tomorrow instead of in the fall...what an intriguing city. One question, maybe picky, is troubling me...in a Lonely Planet video they advise that Venice has no sewage system and that "everything" gets flushed into the ocean...and yet locally caught fresh fish are a popular menu item..I find that a bit of a disconnect..or is that just me? Just curious. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?
Yes, I'd be thinking about that, too. Victoria, BC has never had a sewage system either, but I am told the ocean is the perfect filter. I hope you get good news about the fish :)
I visited Venice in October 2010, I ate fish, Octopus and never got sick. Also the Canals did not have any foul smell even if the sewege was floating around ( which I never saw ). I recommend you try the Baccala Mantecato yum!!!!!.
Venice is a city where the population has served the rich forever. If you understand the language and are shopping, you will hear the truth, as clerks exchange snide remarks and complaints about tourists. They went from slaving for the rich to slaving for tourists.
Captivating content indeed! If you're curious for more, there's a book covering similar ground. "Temporal Echoes: Amelia's Odyssey Through Ancestral Shadows" by Vivian Rosewood
The speedboat to Venice is a rip off ! If you want to see the Grand Canal the cheapest and best way to see it is to get a Vaporetto from San Marco Square to the Railway Station, or vice versa, and then back again. You soon get a seat and you have time to take many photos. The Venicians use the Vaporettos like buses so they stop many times.
Victor Ojeda I want to know this too! Uplifting piano music. Lovely. Really suits Venice. The fact you asked a year ago and were unanswered is slightly disheartening.
It's PBS, "a publicly funded nonprofit organization and the most prominent provider of educational programs to public television stations in the United States". @Pneumanon, more like @PneuMORON.

Yes! Burano was my favorite part of Venice. Don't go without planning a boat ride to Burano.
Thank you Rick Steves!
As usual, you allow us to travel for free.
Was in Venice 2 days ago. Loved every bit of it. Thanks Rick.
This is a solid video! I've just returned from Venice and also explore Murano, Burano and Torcello islands. it's absolutely stunning

Just like heaven
we got very lost but it was part of the adventure. Hope to go back some day. Enjoyed this video immensely.
I also got lost while I was there....I think it's sort of expected lol
When I lived there 55 years ago, it cost 10 lire to cross a canal by gondola (about 1.5 cents).
Just beautiful
i realy enjoy rick steves after wacthing your program thanks for shairing this information about my dream country italy 😃
It's nice, but pales in comparison to the original in Las Vegas.
"Gauntlet of shopping temptations" is superb prose.
I love Venice
The venice episodes are great.
Thank you for another great video, as usual informative and entertaining.

Weird, because the guy seems as fun as Ned Flanders, yet is a pothead.
Thank you Rick Steve. Good films with good information
This is beautifully filmed and edited... well done team Steves
Hello Daisy

I was there is so beautiful💙💛❤
very remarkable
nice video about Venice!
This is so cute ahaha but really though so helpful thank you!!!
Good & informative
12:46 Rick asks locals for direction in perfect Italian and then blows it by responding "Gracias".
I don't think locals care. Most of them can speak some spanish, and it's a common mistake when you know both languages, they tend to overlap.
Thanks very fine video sir please to show more videos in your you tube
Please god let me visit venice

I got a good laugh out of it as well

Vernon Lobb VENETIANS don’t SLAVE for anyone
Is it possible to see/visit the flooded churches?
Rick promise I won't tell anyone. At 7 :42 in the video you mention a Island just across from the city. I cannot find it. The meal looks amazing!
Ciao
bob Hi Bob I found it. Giudecca is the name of the Island in Venice
+Cristina Garcia The Guidecca is a separate Island from Venice. It's where the working class lives. I know of no restaurant called "La Giudecca".
11.06 how did he get those seabirds to fly with such elegance near the camera i sense drones or bs lol

How much does it cost to sit down and drink in café Florian?
+thiery572 Never mind. I found the website. I don't think it's too expensive. I mean, compare to the service and the view, it's all worth it.
Jay fitchett is a lil ginger cutie
Does anyone know the name of the song that runs from 18:45 to 19:19 ?
Victor Ojeda I want to know this too! Uplifting piano music. Lovely. Really suits Venice. The fact you asked a year ago and were unanswered is slightly disheartening.
Tom Hadler definitely disheartening. I managed to get the song off of a Microsoft one drive ad, but could never get the name.
Clark Kent
Where could we find this ad? I'd love to get the song too, if you have a link to the ad could you share it with us?
It's muzak. You can tell because the strings are all synth samples.
I Hope To Visit Venice. Thank You Rick 🫀📸🗺️
Does anyone happen to know the name os the some at 15:30? Thanks in advance

israel172251 oh please
Those Europeans really do be stealing all their names from the USA 😭😭
???
tourists aint that bad.....lloll.
Why is Venice slowly sinking ?
Answer : Simply because of body weight of millions of tourists walking on its walkways !
No more art pleaaasee!!! Show outside places, come on!!!
Awfull
The slippery drive empirically pedal because pumpkin distally chop since a premium discovery. thankful, erratic bulldozer
The irony of a travel show complaining repeatedly about tourists & tourism when it is itself promoting and profiting from tourism is too much.

Right to be honest I am truly angry with Rick Steves as he just said the n word
Ambition in a burning world, even with pretty backgrounds, is always tasteless. Rick Steves is the worst!
Peter J. Andros what an absurd statement
A very imformative and interesting video of Venice.I also like his video on Milan and Lake Como . I think Rick Steves videos are excellent.

Thanks for journeys, in this time of isolation.
Beautiful city. Such a vibrant history and culture.
I just finished watching his 1991 episode of Venice. 23 years later and he still looks the same.
Excellent video on the treasures of Venice !
