John I have to say that for whatever reason the bottle label is a real eye catcher as are the tins. Wish I could afford to have them on my whiskey shelfs. Beautiful stuff.

I'm halfway through a Douglas Laing Old Particular Single Cask Laphroaig 10 yo (53.4%). No chill filtration and natural color...just lovely! One of 261 bottles. Maybe even paler than an Ardbeg Ten--wait, a Laphroaig that pale? Indeed. Big, bold, with a bit more focus on the distillate. Great nose, wonderful development, satisfying finish. Minor issue: comes in a 700 mL bottle. Bigger issue: no longer available.
By the way, I definitely write down neck-pour notes in my reviews; I just don't draw firm conclusions.
Glad you showcased these Old Particulars. From my lone experience, I'm a fan!

      Greetings Andy,
Wow that Laphroaig sounds like a banger! I thought Indie’s went under the Williamson banner?
Refreshing to find someone else who appreciates the neck pour.
More Old Particular’s on the way.
      Cheers 🥃

Thanks for reviewing these whiskies, I have not had either one. I have had some really good IB Highland Park bottles over the years. Cheers!

That 21 does sound nice. I've only seen Old Particular at 48.4%. Age and ABV does matter.
I have an unnamed 14 year old Orkney from Signatory at 46% matured in a refill butt. Truly lovely. And from the unchillfiltered collection it was well under $100 and I really was happy to find a HP with some mild sherry.
For the same $110 I have a Dimensions 10 year HP at 54%. It's a vatting of bourbon barrels for sure but needs more age for over $100.

      Greetings Jack,
48.4% seems common but I do have couple cask strengths and other variable abv’s with them which shows to me they are not cookie cutter and dial in the abv to suit the bottling.
Signatory does great stuff as well… that sherry refill sounds right up my street for sure.
Never heard of Dimensions but your bottle sounds great as well.
      Cheers 🥃

@@justwhisky Dimensions is a Duncan Taylor brand. This is a vatting of what looks like bourbon barrels. They give the dates of distillation and bottling on the label but not the oak type.
Any independent Highland Park is probably worth trying. I've been eyeing one of the burlap sack official single cask releases but they get very pricey. $250 for a 15 year old.

At a local store (van Baal Drankenhandel in Geitenkamp, Arnhem) i saw a 20yo cask strength tobermory at that same proof, supposedly still in stock, for a little over 100 euros. Of course these releases vary but i found hardly anything about that particular bottle.
I think i might roll the dice on it after seeing this review! I enjoyed your insights and will be subscribing.

I’m a big fan of Tobermory and that sounds like a fantastic price.
