If it spills you need to remove the stiffening plate and clean it properly. But if you unscrew the filter cap just until the o-ring is partially visible and let it drain for a few minutes, it doesn't spill out 🤷🏽
Why do that when you can spend $69 (one time) and install this tool in less than 30 seconds? Your time is more valuable than having to remove the stiffening plate.
@@AGATools I work at one of the world's biggest BMW dealers, maybe 100 technicians or more. And we all do it this way 🤷🏽 but I understand what you're saying, if I had my own shop, I'd invest in one I guess.
This is true of all cartridge insert filters. When you remove the cap, you depress a drain valve, which lets the oil drain back into the pan. That said, on these B engines, you can still make a mess with the filter element. Especially with this piss water 0 weight oils BMW is using now.
thats why you loosen the oil filter and let the check valve empty the oil housing before you remove it completely lol. still a cool tool tho. not really needed tho.
@Baron Not Baron and it was BMW who approached Toyota to partner up, not the other way round. Toyota doesn't make inline 6 petrol engines anymore, and BMW makes the best, so I guess that's why they agreed to a partnership.
@Baron Not Baron and the supra doesn't have just the BMW engine, the whole drivetrain and chassis is from the new Z4. Even the infotainment and software is BMW. You'll see BMW logos and part numbers all over the new supra, not just the engine.
Former BMW tech worked on many B58 engines just unscrew slowly till oring visible then lift vehicle and pull drain plug then finish removing housing You will have no MESS,sorry but this tool is a waste of time $$
man these videos have dramatic re-enactments now?? love it!
I love how creative you are at solving servicing issues. Your tools are the best!

By the way, LOVE your tool to remove stripped locking wheel bolts! I think we're getting one after I showed the video to the workshop manager.
We ordered and got 3 of your locking wheel bolt removing tools, 1 for each branch. Really nice tool!!!

Now you need to solve the problem of the n63/s63 oil filter cap making a huge mess!
That's an easy fix. Just swap it for a cap with a drain.
Brilliant!
good idea
Every time I watch one of these videos it reminds me why I hate modern BMW"s. Good thing we AGA tools to help with BMW's terrible design.
@1:09 that's my worst nightmare.
For 69$ you’re better off sparing 5 minutes to allow the filter to drain after you pull it out past the o ring

Talk about bad design, a Toyota will never give you this problem
Fortunately, we have a product like this to remedy the issue!
@Baron Not Baron the B58 engine was designed by both BMW AND Toyota, it's got a lot of Toyota touches and it's very reliable.
@Baron Not Baron I'm not talking about the valvetronic system, if you work on BMWs for a living maybe you'll understand what I'm talking about.

Totally useless in flat rate world. Don't take filter out all the way, brake filter loose, drain oil and then remove filter. No need to do all that.
How do you brake the filter? Where's the pedal? 🥴
70$ ….. that’s crazy expensive for that
How much do you think this should be? Would like some feedback to backup your statement.
Not more than 25$

I will try that first and see how it works, before buying the tool, 540d 👍
drive BMW and to poor for oil change in workshop 😂😂😂 you kidding 🤣🤣
nobody has time for this
Ricardo, how much time do you think it takes?
