Welcome to my channel! I'm Allie, an archer, hunter, angler, and public lands advocate. But really, I'm an all around lover of all things outdoors! I enjoy sharing all of my adventures here on RUclips including the good and the bad. Learning how to enjoy the outdoors is a PROCESS and I'm here to share mine with you. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe ;)

I would recommend going much closer for your paper tuning, the purpose of your arrow in flight is to stabilize itself. So if you are what looked like 10 yards away, the arrow still has time in that range to stabilize itself and force a nice bullet hole. Try it at 6 feet (enough room for your arrow to completely pass through paper before it touches target) and then see your tear. You will notice a large difference between 6 feet and 10 yards if there is a difference. If it still is a bullet then great job! Hope this helps you a little. Great series!
Thanks for the feedback!
I'm going to add one little thing, and it's just something I've always noticed since the early 90's is that shop's use a fairly thin paper that you can almost see through so the paper doesn't change whatever the arrow is doing . It lets the arrow show the smallest of inconsistencies that might mean half twist here or there or whatever on the string to get 'time' or remove string lean .
Basically mynute adjustment's .
So maybe stick to thin paper : )
As others have stated love the series.
Exciting stuff 😃 iv gone from hoyt back to pse , im excited too , that slammed hard Allie , awesome paperwork ,
Man I am happy I found your channel I enjoy your content keep up the good work
Thanks Daniel, much appreciated!
She teared up a little, that is so sweet
Paper tuned first shot 😃
Your draw/hold form is slow n smooth here.
Thanks for watching!
0:27 high lift cams?
Just kidding
Freaking awesome congratulations
you are special Allie
Allie, since your going to do more bow builds I feel like I should say something, don't get me wrong, I love you, but, when paper tuning, do it at about 3 yards from a drawn arrow tip, reason, after any more than that the fletching has done its job and straitened out arrow flight.... don't hate me...
No, worries I appreciate the feedback!
While I'm not a wheel bow guy I must say, awesome job Allie! Your series gives me a peek into the other side of archery. What a time we live in indeed.
Thanks Paul.
You did a nice job! I’m looking forward to watching your next build.
Can't wait.
Let’s do it !
i just wanted to ask , why did you build a bow that needs a bow press to adjust , im a Brit , and most bows seem to be draw adjustable without a press , most types of cams included , But congrats on building your first bow 😊😊😊😊 awesome , it is a buzz iv engineered trigger parts iv bodged bows out of three old compounds shortened limbs , made fiberglass limbs , swapped cams about .. and stuff worked out , , 😊 we have better gear now 3d archery has took off in the UK ,
You do not need to demonstrate nothing to no one. The pleasure of learning something must be a thing that give pleasure to yourself... that feeling when you grow, when you learning something new, and u are better now than firs. Search THAT feeling, not the "false" feeling that you need to demonstrate to other people. I know you are a RUclipsr and live for the community, but think about my words.
Your way to far from the paper
Yes, now i know. Thanks for watching!
Congrat's Allie! Great job on the bow build and the positive videos that brought us all along with you on your learning journey...
New bows are always fun; good luck with the Evo set-up.
Thanks Ross!
You inspire us as well, Allie! For example: Brother, myself and a few other friends went out for the first time in a LONG time and shot some clay pigeons. I'm talking a few years since the last time. We all ended up with sore shoulders..but it was sooo worth it! We plan on going out again next month once we all heal up ;)
Thanks for being a positive role model, Allie! You're awesome!
So happy to hear that!!!
Ok lady here we go. The PSE EVO is a freak bow in a good way. Also, the build up will be easier, it is so quiet you won’t need cat whiskers and what ever you do please use the new lower stabilizer spot. I have the NXT 31 and I had the Hoyt defiant before and I’m glad I went with the smaller bow, but the 33 is going to be a Cadillac compared to your avail. Good luck and have fun. Good job.
Glad to hear that, im excited to shoot it!
Definitely looking forward to the PSE build! The one brand that I have been shooting and love it!
Im pumped!
Outdoors Allie I’m looking forward following you on this, and I’m proud of ya for taking on a diy build! Great work!
Impressive! I told you, you'd like it (PSE)! I have turned my 31 NXT into a target bow using threaded rods and pewter ingots and added fwd legs like Dudley's bow, using the NXT's extra stabilizer hole. What you & Nick have done is very impressive. You will love your PSE.
Thank you. Im really looking forward to getting it set up!
@@OutdoorsAllie your knowledge of the fine tunning is impressive. All I've done is change my draw length & poundage which is super easy on the NXT. I do have a tru glow range rover power Dot on the way,...it never stops. I need a second stim check for up grades! LOL 😂👍
You need to eust your draw lithe some
👍
Ur awsome!!
Thanks for watching!
Just now seeing this video. You’re gonna love your EVO NXT. I bought the Nock On version of the 33”, and I recently bought the NXT 31” as my plan B/oh crap bow. You’re gonna LOVE it!!!... You’ll be so impressed by how much more poundage you can pull with that bow compared to other bows. I can literally pull 10 pounds more than I can with Mathews/Hoyt. 65 lbs with my PSE 33 feels like 50-55 with a Mathews VXR. Excited for you Allie
Glad to hear. Thanks for the feedback Steven!
Amazing inspiring video. Would be awesome if you could make a video about all what a beginner needs to start a compound bow shooting ( how to choose the right size of bow; the right type and size of arrows for different animals, when and why to change the cable of a compound bow; how to adjust the sight, quiver and stabilizer, etc
Would be awesome if you could share some of your knowledge and experience in the future videos. Thx and get going, you’re awesome 👏🏻
Thanks Horia. I'm making a ton of videos like that!
Very solid build 👌. I know u have had people chime in about the paper tuning distance. Good call on shooting from your knees. I found for me if I took that large roll of packing paper & put the roll on the floor then I could attach it @ the desired height on an open step ladder. Then I place the target on a table to match that height. 1 word of advice on your next build. If u can order blank shafts u could really do it like a minimalist. Cut the arrows on your saw & make sure both ends r square. Glue in the inserts, AAE makes a glue which doesn't get brittle. It's like a rubber-epoxy w/o a 2 step process which u will appreciate if u hit a hard bone on an elk. Shoot from about 20 feet @ your new 3D target which is hard. U can shoot 2 bare shafts in different spots & then look @ the angle of the shafts to each other. If u do this & find that 3 arrows r going in perpendicular & 1 is flaring to the right or left that by just turning the nock like 1/8 of a turn that the shaft might start behaving in flight when compared to the others. By doing this b4 fletching u could not only have tighter flying arrows but arrows that give u maximum penetration when tipped with a broadhead that is lethal in sharpness & toughness for better penetration. I'm only shooting 58 lbs., but my latest shafts that I did this with need a bag target behind 2 Black Hole broadhead targets & I haven't put the broadhead on yet. When I do put a broadhead on I'll be shooting a new SEVR target with self healing foam cuz I like to find my arrows to use later on the real thing. Congrats on the new bow. It's better than advertised.
Thanks for the feedback Joe. Ive heard good things about SEVR.
just stumble one of your video, how to butch a deer. It was neat 'n went through your channel for more. Immediately knew i always dreamt what are you doing now. Good job, Allie.
Thanks for watching!
order a bow that fits, you could improve your shooting if your bow allowed an inch maybe 1.5 inches more draw length.
Thanks for the feedback!
Strong work! Was really hoping to see you yoke tuning a bowtech, reckon we can’t have everything.
Would love to try one out!
Hi Allie great job. We love your rambling.
🤗
Just a little advice I would paper tune your bow with a bare shaft not a fletched arrow. A beat shaft will show of the arrow is not launching straight where a fletched arrow will correct . If bare shafts fly straight your broadheads will be much more accurate
Thanks for the feedback Seth!
Try Bareshaft tuning, made my big fixed blades fly like darts
I will for sure.
Looks and brains xoxo
You can ramble as much as you want.. It's YOUR channel! We all will still support you ✌
Thanks Josh, much appreciated!
If you shoot a fletched arrow to far on paper the vanes will stabilize any flaw you may have
Thanks for the feedback.
I tremendously enjoyed this series, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful
Love you
I would also recommend - after general paper tuning and so on - to use your choosen broadheads for refining tuning and set up. Broadheads in fact fly not as well as a target point, and "enhance" every single error in tuning: something very useful. This is so true especially at extreme range, like 60 or 70 meters. Once super tuned my bow with broadheads, I use a set of them only for shooting, and I do my practice only with them. It's a bit more expensive since you will mess up your target, but you will have exactly the same path and trajectory of your actual hunting arrows. Believe me, it pays a lot.
More over, a little advice about broadheads: try the Slick Trick "Viper Trick" - the fly very, very well, and they cut on conctat : good for low poudage bows/big game. I used them on a very big Bison.
Thanks for the feedback Fillippo!

Thank you for the video, have a nice day!
Super 👌 awesome congrats
Thank you! Cheers!
Will you use the same rest on your next build?
Yes!
Still a fan ! U need to come back west. Utah
Very soon!
Why get a POS? I mean PSE... shoulda just got the VZR 31.5 IMO
I like it so far!
@@OutdoorsAllie I guess that’s what counts! I just found a crack on the limb of my VXR... 😡 going back to the shop now
👍 ❤
Hey Allie! Congratulations on the successful bow build! Forgive the long comment, hopefully, it is value add! Now you are moving forward and improving upon your learning, excellent. Recently, I attended the International Bowhunter Education Program (IBEP) here in Germany. The entire class was in German to include written exam and I do not speak German. However, with a little interpretation and help from other German students, I managed fine, and passed the written exam. However, I failed two of seven shots on the shooting exam from unknown distances with broad heads: zero tolerance for missing. There were several factors which led up to getting a new bow one week prior to the course, not having time to practice…etc. but listing out all the details is too much in this forum. Bottom line, I hold myself accountable for not passing and will not make excuses. If I am reading the IBEP requirements correctly, I do not actually need to take this exam or become IBEP certified as I was born prior to 1986. However, learning and improving upon my knowledge in archery and bow hunting is important so, I took on this challenge. As I gain more knowledge through reading, watching your videos and others, I decided to make my own adjustments to my new bow, change my arrow setup, change the weight of my field tips, change my broad heads, and work on using a new thumb release. Learning to do it myself is my preference and passion. Like you said in your video (My Arrow Build for Deer Hunting),” I’m just paying attention more…and I feel like I’m a little bit of a smarter archer than I was.” Yes, when you become smarter on how the entire system works, you become a better version of yourself and that is invaluable! Your new bow build comes at a great time, I will learn from you as you post videos, make my own improvements to my bow, and by the time the next available course is scheduled, I will be ready to pass the shooting test. I believe you will be happy with your new PSE Evo NXT 33. I own a PSE Bow Madness 32 (stored at my sister's house stateside) and my newest bow is a PSE EXPEDITE…love them both!
Wow, thats crazy. Thanks for sharing!
PSE evo nxt is an awesome bow.
Cant wait to get it setup!
Hey Allie! Question what’s your poundage? I’m shooting 52 pounds 27 inches.. I’d like to get a single pin.. can you please help me?
I love HHA single pin sights. amzn.to/2O0AbiI
Hi Allie! Great job! And you have a great attitude! And its great idea to build another bow! Congrats on getting the PSE 33" NXZT! At the end of that bow build, you will be even more confident! As for me...just trying to get my Shrewd stabilizers, front and back, balanced, to were I really like it and feels the best. Have a great week! And we are probably all a little jealous of your bow build accomplishments!
Thank you so much!
Cant wait to see the next build
Coming soon.
Longer bows are more forgiving , like a long paddle for kayaking
Good analogy.
@@OutdoorsAllie iv been called wore 😊
AWESOME Allie you have made it and welcome to the PSE nation . Im a PSE shooter love it . it is the only bow made 100 percent in America , every inch of your pse was made by us . super !!! how you can work in nicks bow as well . you are awesome .I only hope other females would use you as a role model.
Thanks Anthony!
Great Job!!!! Check your tuning again after you've shot about a hundred arrows to make sure nothing stretched. Also, check out bare shaft tuning as another way to tune your bow.
You've come a long way. Much respect to learn how to do all this. Can't wait to see what's next. Did you draw any good tags this year?
Will do. No drawn tags, but lots of fun hunts planned.
Awesome series Allie! I've been contemplating getting my own equipment to set up a personal bow shop in my garage. I think you might've pushed me over the edge and convinced me to do it. So much fun and you can tweak things to get them just the way you want them. Great work! Fun to watch!
Thanks for watching Travis. Go for it!!
I enjoyed your bow build series. I think you did a fantastic job on it. As we all know that the more you do something, the more confident you feel doing it. I’m excited to watch your next bow build journey. One last final thought. It doesn’t matter what bow you choose for yourself. What’s important is that it fits YOU, and when you shoot it that it feels right.
Thanks Robert!
Great job and way to go through everything step by step! The best part is you'll continue to learn. One thing you may do, (and it involves more shooting), it shoot paper at different distances, 5-6 feet, 12 feet and 20 feet...... the longer the distance the more the vanes take control while the shortest distance tends to show how the arrow is firing prior to the vanes taking over too much. Once you feel comfortable with your form, shooting a field point tipped bareshaft through paper and seeing a perfect round hole -- makes one know their bow and form is spot on and that is a wonderful feeling! Best of luck!
FOR sure. Thanks for watching Allan!
You are a real go getter. You remind me of ....me....before my illnesses. I have come to feel like your online uncle, and I am very proud.
Thanks John, much appreciated.
WOW! We can't really complain about that, now can we!!?? Great job! What a learning experience and so glad you shared this process. 👍
Thanks for watching Eric. Excited!
PSE is good, I run that at 70 and my pse I can change it from 18-70pounds. I paid 400$ just for the bow.
Niceeee!
Great job! It was fun watching you learn. RUclips makes learning so much quicker. I learned archery by driving to an archery shop over 45 minutes away and hanging out with those at the shop. Then, I joined a archery club and I learned from other members going to 3D shoots. What you learned. in lets say a year ,took me 10 or more. There is always more to learn though. The season is around the corner and I'm trying to get my blinds ready. Have Fun!
Thanks for watching! RUclips is magical lol
So proud of you, you have really stepped up you came, I have truly enjoyed watching your growth in the past couple of years..
I understand the doing stuff alone thing, I believe that is very important, but there's something to be said, about the connection we make with other people,
Keep up the great work. God bless you and Nick.
Much respect and love.
Thanks Tim!
Congratulations on your perfect paper tune tear, but it's a good idea to shoot a few more arrows to make sure the first wasn't a fluke. Also, I
think the shorter the axle to axle ratio, the less forgiving the bow shoots.
True. Thanks for watching Blain!
Allie your awesome love your videos now that I've see you do all this makes me want to do it ...thanks so much you Rock Allie!!!
Much appreciated Randy!
Love ❤️ your videos so relaxing 😎 amazing keep up good work God bless

Cant wait to shoot it!
You ROCK cause you’re REAL!!!!
Thanks Richard!
You have done an awesome job with your bow builds soooo proud of you
Thank you Blake!
6:15 THOUGH
Good job on the build. I wish you luck with the PSE. I have always felt that my old Jennings that were longer non parallel limb bows of the past were more accurate than the Mathews Z7 and maybe my Vertix. But I’ve lucked up & hit bullseye at 50 yards or so with both. However target bows are longer with a longer brace height for a reason.
ya, I like the longer bows.
Me too. The only reason I switched was because of ground blinds. But I have thought about a halon X or Comp or trx36 or 38. I am not mathews loyal, I believe if you’re going to use a shop. Find one you trust and then shoot what they sell
What's youre draw weight on that bow?
