    Roll your bowstring off the cam, then you won't have to press bow as much to adjust cable. And avoid using pliers.
    Also those omp levels.... junk

  • @eggbert191

    Hard pass on cable driven rests. When paper tuning your rest is only for micro adjustments. Shim your cams instead

    @Njjb122 Год назад +1

    Im not a big fan of rest tuning immediately for a bullethole especially if your going to shoot fix blade broadheads things can get wonky fast Increasing your fieldpoint/ broadhead weight will weaken the spine enough to get rid of that small right tear you had while maintaining centershot

    Doesn't the bow need to be at full draw, to set 3rd axis?

  • @jamesesouthwick1944
    @jamesesouthwick1944 Год назад +3

    Great job! but I must admit you made me a little nervous not nocking an arrow while drawing your bow.

    • @StoneyWV
      @StoneyWV Год назад

      yup yup, way to easy to put in an arrow and point at something solid. If that peep or release fails you won't blow up the bow just destroy an arrow.

  • @l.i.archer5379
    @l.i.archer5379 Год назад +2

    Instead of raising the rest, you should have moved the D-loop down. Ideally, you want the arrow going through the Berger holes and the launcher down as low to the shelf as possible before it touches. This way, when you move the D-loop down, it'll be closer to the midpoint of the string for a more balanced draw.
    Also, never use that string splitter tool without the bow in the press and the string slightly relaxed. Twisting the splitter in the string at full tension will friction-cut strands.
    Always save the sight leveling (2nd & 3rd axes) till the end, after you've shot the bow through paper and it's tuned. If you have to change the string angle (via cam shimming, yoke twisting, etc.), then it'll change the angle of the string. In your case, you were lucky and were able to get the right tear out by moving the rest. Some binary cam bows won't let you do that - you'd have to shim the top, bottom, or both cams in order to fix those types of tears, and that would change the angle of the string.
    Awesome video nonetheless!!!

  • @LowIncomeMovies
    @LowIncomeMovies Год назад +2

    Chances are when you split your cable to set your drop away cord, you changed your timing again, a very small amount. In the past i just feed the drop away cable through once, burn the end and put a small amount of serving on either side of it to stop it from moving in the cable.

    Great video Allie. I also shoot the same bow (since last year) and it's been great in the field.
    One thing I might add to your video - 3rd axis adjustment should always be done at full draw. You can use the Hamskea tool as well, but you'll need to either aim at a hung plumb bob or aim at a leveled/plumb door jamb. Why at full draw? Because we are all human, and we all torque the bow differently aiming up or downhill VERSES a non torqued/level bow in the vice aiming up or down.
    Thanks.

    @mrgabriale Год назад +1

  • @JSANDERS247
    @JSANDERS247 Год назад +1

    Allie, if you will take the string off the cam on 1 end. Leave the loop attached just roll the string off .you can rotate the cam to get to your cable loop easier. You also can press the bow less doing it that way..

    when you get the peep set where you like it put it on the draw board and measure center arrow to center peep and that number will be the same on every bow you shoot. Unless you set up a tac bow where u might want to set the peep ¼-⅜" lower

    • @stephenwallace2423
      @stephenwallace2423 Год назад +1

      I agree that it makes sense to level the arrow on the same surface that it is attached to. However, it depends on the quality of the serving - I'm sure we've all seen occasional lumps and bumps, thin spots, etc. on serving, and that could change the angle indicated on the level. I would be more inclined to mount the level on the bare string, as I would expect the surface of the string to more consistently flat/straight.

    what is your normal draw weight? Gotta do what my coworker did for his paper tuning setup. 2x6 frame around a 24x24 target backer, paper roll at 10 yards target backer at 15, works amazing and only cost him $150 with target backer, though that was 2014 wood prices, no idea what a 10 ft 2x6 goes for in FL. Informative video! Good luck for deer season, dirt naps for the walking venison steaks ahead!

There is just people that want to make money and sell. 60-70s you never heard of arrows and bolts not passing through animals. Aluminum shaft was the answer. Its just science and what works. A 80 lb bow should have the power to send a projectile through an animal from 0-400 yards with ease. The fact they get 6 inches at 80 is pathetic not a debate.

    I have to admit Allie that I don't see alot of people using the cable drop-away style. But I've never had troubles with them on multiple bows. My thinking is that the limb-driven style can be off if u adjust the draw poundage. Your D-loop looked really good considering u didn't have the Easton pliers in your arsenal. I completely changed this year with a couple of ILF bow builds. NO PRESS NEEDED. Though I think I have everything else. I had a couple over @ my place 2day b4 season opens. The guy i made some arrows for is getting more penetration than b4 but we had to turn his poundage down a couple of pounds. His gal had perfect arrow flight. We never shot paper. I have a 21" SEVR target strapped on top of a couple of foam targets that r 2 deep. The grid target on the SEVR which is hard & comsistent self-healing foam makes this possible. After they both took a couple of shots I took my recurve with 50 lb. limbs & shot an arrow made for 45 lbs. They could both see the arrow fly kinda wonky b4 it hit the target just a little tail left. Then I took an arrow tuned for the 50 lb. limbs & put it 90* into the target face. The same thing on the bare shaft came next. They learned alot more on those 3 shots & after shooting 3D deer targets next from up in a 🌳 it came full circle. Especially when the guys tips were poking out on the exit wound. She didn't get the target tips through but her arrow flight is very nice & @ 45 lbs it all comes down to the broadhead.
    Take care & never stop getting better. 🎉
