I'll be purchasing my first bow in the new year. This really helped me understand what ill be looking to get in a bow. The local Sportsman wear house has a really cool old timer that really does it because he loves Archery. Ill be working with him on different bows till I find my final purchase. Great video
As a twelve year old archer I can agree with shooting 20 yards to get good form. It doesn’t hurt to shoot 25-30 yards after you get comfortable because all it does is magnifies your mistakes so a shot 1 or 2 inches left might be 4-6 inches left so you can adjust so sight or work in your form. If you see this please let me know how much progress you have made I have been shooting a compound bow since I was 8 or 9 and can honestly say that I can constantly shoot 4 inch groups at 40 yards. Just today I was shooting so I know I was good for white tail deer season in pa and shot a arrow almost through the other but it was off just a slight bit so I just broke and arrow and didn’t get bragging rights.
I bought a species ld in July did upgrade the sight, quiver and have a regular peep sight not the one with the cord. Got a deer in early October then got my second one 3 days ago. First deer with a compound bow both were on public land. But i also did get a good sized 9 point and a small doe with mr crossbow also.
Hi sir I am interested in buying a bow for hunting. what price range would be good for something that can kill deer, ducks, that can also last? something solid that can last a while thank you!
Every time I have been into a bow shop the employees act pissed that a customer actually walked in. They don't ask if you need help, usually can't find anyone if you have a question. If you do find someone you usually wish you didn't. So you stand there trying to Google the bows you see to get info.
I just bought a compound crossbow, now that I see this, I think I would've had much more options is customization and personalization had I gone with a compound bow.
I am watching this on August 17 2021 because I am researching to find the right bow to buy as a gift to myself for my birthday. Not only I am late to have a chance to win something, the published date for this video " August 19" is my birthday
Dont see why it would cost you over 500$ if you're just starting, unless you start with pro stuff which you shouldn't. I mean when I started all I had was a 40lbs cherrywood selfbow and 3 practice arrows. Cost me like 20$ just for the arrows. It doesn't have to be expensive, and it honestly shouldn't be imo: you can have alot of fun starting with simple things, and in my experience overcomplicating archery is very VERY bad whatever level you are. All I use now for both practice, fun and hunting is a 55lbs recurve that cost me about 250$. The rest I built myself. Nothing is free, that's true, but you don't have to spend immesurable amounts especially for a hobby you don't know wether you like or not yet.
I have never bow hunted but watching the THP guys has peaked my interest. The one thing holding me back is my lack of knowledge and experience. After watching this salesmen and seeing his patience has eased my apprehension. He seems outstanding!
Bull Basin Archery in Flagstaff was this was. Super helpful, walking me through the process and giving me range time to see what product fits me best. Love it there.
Agreed! Most shops I’ve been to they were to busy to even give me some tips or pointers. I wanna get into bow hunting myself but I haven’t found anything I want to start with.
Being the only person in my family interested in hunting, I don’t have much guidance or help starting from scratch. But this channel has single handed helped me every step of the way. From learning about onX to scouting in the summer ext. thank you guys and keep up the good work! #beararchery
I'm in the same boat... I started last year much like Gooch in this video. something under $500 and try to figure it out on my own (ended up with a diamond archery edge 320 for lacking of knowing nothing else at the time). Hunting only public land and so on. All the things I've learned here are amazing. I was able to get a whitetail last year on a public piece of land ground stalking when all the people I know said it couldn't be done. I kept thinking, I've seen these guys take all kinds of nice whitetail down doing exactly what I'm trying to do. I was quite pleased to be successful and think I owe a lot of it to this channel. So excited to see this seasons episodes and learn more. Keep it up. (the obligatory #beararchery lol )
I would go with the Diamond Infinite Edge Pro for a beginner. It is fully adjustable draw 13"-31" and weight 5-70lbs and cost less then $500 :) \o/.... I love mine and spring is here :))
Dude I feel the exact same way, every time I bought a bow I was rushed through the process and ended up doing all the adjustments myself at home with google open to answer my questions lol
These guys are top notch. I drove 2 hours to go to that shop specifically because the ones near me aren't very good. I can personally vouch for the process that Gooch went through. Definitely an awesome experience.
same... from what ive experienced they usually dont know what theyre talking about or the act like they’re better that everyone lol this guy seemed super nice though
I've shopped here for a bow, and they're like this all the time, Mark let me shoot all the bows I wanted, then I left and came back a few months later, and shot more bows and ordered a bow from them. I think I was there a couple hours getting set up with my bow. This is a pro shop with great service.
This salesman was awesome. No BS, no pressure and knew what he was talking about. Just the perf ect guy to buy a bow from! A+++ But dude shorten his draw length please!
Draw length probably isn’t as bad as your thinking. It’s probably more of that fact that those Tru-Fire patriots have way to long of a shank therefore he’s floating that hand past his ear.
Man, I'd love to have a bow shop like this. My experience was I picked shit off the wall and had no explanation no conversation and learned via youtube and watching slow motion draws of pro archers.
A trick I was taught for my peep, close your eyes and draw. Get your natural anchor, nose on the string just like you’re about to shoot and then open your eyes. That’s where you’re going to be every time instead of moving your head to the peep. Make your adjustments from there.
I love sales people like that guy. Friendly, knowledgeable, and doesn't say things just because he wants you to know that he knows. I learned a lot just watching this.
All my bow hunting friends all have expensive setups. This before is what I needed to get started when I start how hunting! Thanks again you guys are great! #beararchery
Mark is the name of the salesman? Well that man is an absolute diamond. When you run a shop with a dude like that in it, you are setup for life! Professional, calm, knowledgeable and patient. I am just hoping I find a guy like that in the two shops I am going to visit. Never shot a bow and I am doing the backwards thing, buy a good bow and then learn how to use it, because we don't have a archery club nearby, I rely on ppl around. VERY good video, great presentation and content :)
It’s honestly crazy how much yalls videos have helped me as a hunter. I went from being a novice deer hunter to now I have gotten to the point of being able to spot and stalk and have gotten 3 deer with a bow finally after years of no luck with it. You guys are awesome! Keep up the good work! #beararchery
After I had a labrum tear I had to draw exactly like him. After enough physical therapy and reconditioning, I was finally able to draw correctly again. Having your elbow in makes it much more stable for a torn up shoulder. I’m not a dr, but after going through this process and learning how to be a reconditioning trainer I wouldn’t tell him to draw any other way until his shoulder is built up enough. 7 years later I can draw normally, but in the beginning I could feel my shoulder getting torn up drawing with my elbow high.
I haven’t had anyone to teach me anything outdoors related. You guys have really helped me gain the confidence to get out into the woods and start hunting on my own. #beararchery
Honestly, as much as I refer new people to Dudley's vids when they're getting into the sport- this is one of the better examples what to expect on your first day in a pro-shop and what should be done before you exit. I was able to jump into a Mathews from the beginning with minimal pocket-pain, but #beararchery makes a great product for people who won't feel the difference between a $2k bow and a $350 bow that just want to get started in target archery or hunting. When I first saw it pop-up on my feed I figured it would be an experienced archer going into a pro-shop, but having a complete novice do it and the pro-shop explain actually gives this vid some tangible authenticity that someone who doesn't know jack about archery can learn from before they take on their first purchase.
I'm fortunate enough to have an archery shop in my home town with a really knowledgeable bow tech like this. He helped me set up a new-to-me bow this year, so I'm all set for the whitetail woods! If I'm selected for this bow giveaway, I'd like to pay it forward to a veteran or active-duty service member. I'd also make them a new @kohlscustomknives hunting knife to go with it! #beararchery
Hey The Hunting Public! I have been with you guys when you were at around 15k subs so I've been here a bit. I have learned a lot from you guys and love all your content! I would love a new bow as I have recently got back into the phenomena convinced by your vids! I currently shoot an old takedown Samick recurve and would love to get a compound. Only thing is that I'm only 16 so don't quite have 500 or 800 dollars to spend on a good new bow but rather save the majority of my work money for a car! Thanks for reading this if you see it! #beararchery
@@BowhuntersUnited okay thanks! I like shooting it but would love a new compound just don't have the money yet. Maybe in the future I will invest in one👍

I can beat that, go to a pawn shop, and you will find tons of used compound bows and arrows in a traveling case, some way under $100 clams. I found one in great shape for cheap...
I have a sister that finally wants to start hunting, all she needs is a bow, and her birthday is in a few weeks. I would absolutely LOVE to give her this. #beararchery
if you were looking into maybe buying her a bow and she maybe wants something more girly there is a pink and blue camo bow from hoyt and i have to say i love it.
@@AxcelGamer97 yep bow goes from middle of September to December 31st while rifle is just the from the first Saturday or November to the next Sunday. I've also hunted muzzleloader so that's two more weekends but I haven't seen a deer, my hunting land is probably too far from food...
Had similar issue as a kid, till i met a family friend whom is an amish bow hunter he taught everything, tricks and tips, all i did was to bring him a few cases of locally brewed ginger ale soda (they were strong tasting) it helps to have friends that know tricks
@@azbittel there are several good quality bows under the $750 mark that people can buy from bear, pse, etc. There is absolutely no reason why someone needs to spend that if they are getting their first bow, and just trying to get into the sport.
No joke it was literally my birthday last month I’ve always loved bow hunting but I don’t have the funds to get a bow and the #beararchery package would really mean the world to me
Cool place! Ive went to 2 bow shops here local and they just expected me to know everything about everything and it deterred me from hunting with a bow the last couple years. I am a gun hunter usually and this has inspired me to find a decent shop and know im not the only one getting into the sport and that there are good folks out there willing to coach and mentor you.
Your title says "$500 ARCHERY SHOP CHALLENGE". Also both of you said the same thing. The bow that you chose was already $399.99 (plus tax it's over $400). Plus the extras (i.e. arrows, release and anything else that was behind the scenes). I am just pointing out the obvious. Your challenge was busted from the start. I am not trying to be an ass. I totally understand that archery adds up quick. I want everything and my wife has to keep me inline or I would be spending allot. I totally liked the video and what you are passing on to hopefully new archers. I totally like the sales guy. I liked it when he said you don't have to pay over a grand to hunt, target shoot or just have fun. If I was close I would buy from that store. Keep up the good work. I stand corrected. Everything for $473.95. That is a great deal! That archery shop defiantly takes care of all their customers. That is a very nice bow. It's fast, smooth shooting. Now I want one too. What are the specs on the BEAR ARCHERY AZ31?
All salesmen should work like this guy, not just archery shops. He gave the customer options and was honest about where the extra money goes on the higher end stuff. Most people can tell when you're a fraud looking for the bigger commission anyway. Good job.
This guy is amazing I love how he explains everything doesn’t feel like a sales guy feels more then a teacher as a beginner this is awesome not only u buying a bow but he also teaching u at the same time great guy you can tell he loves his job
Man after my first experience at my local shop this sales man is the real deal and not out to make a buck. Truly out to help the community from beginner or professional. I’d travel to deal with him
I have the bear paradox. Wt trophy ridge hitman stabilizer. And a qad ultrarest. The Ibo is 330 fps. It's my 1st bow. And I love it. And a Trophy ridge REACT pro 5 site. Also put a Apex side mount rear stabilizer trophy ridge hitman 6 inch. Custom strings. And it's the 70 pound model. And I shoot Blackeagle. Trupeep sight and a kisser button.
Someone get this sales guy a drink he’s the definition of professional

That's not a trick, it's just the way to do it... so many people out there craning their necks to use the peep...

way better after they fixed it haha

Suh dudes🤙🏻! When I first started it was hard to find that constant set point a kisser button helped me a lot… have fun practicing!
Looking good #beararchery
I have always wanted a bow
Girl get out there and show them boys up! 🦌
#beararchery
This guy just taught me what I wasn't doing right ligning my peep sight correctly
#beararchery I've rifle hunted but I've always wanted to get into bow hunting, much longer season
Where are you hunting? I got into bowhunting for the same reason is why I ask.
@@AxcelGamer97 North central Minnesota, somewhat of a pressured area, not super super high but not low, but bow season would a lot better than rifles
Alan Leukuma Bow season is a hell of a lot longer in Kansas than rifle, so I’m bow hunting here now. Rifle season is like 10 days.
@@AxcelGamer97 yep bow goes from middle of September to December 31st while rifle is just the from the first Saturday or November to the next Sunday. I've also hunted muzzleloader so that's two more weekends but I haven't seen a deer, my hunting land is probably too far from food...
Alan Leukuma Decided that if you can’t beat them then join em haha
You guys are like the only hunting you tubers that don’t spend 1000 on a bow
My first bow was a $300 Chinese special. Still killed the same as my $1300 PSE setup.
I got that exact same bow and I love it. Really want to learn how to stalk animals on the ground though
Had similar issue as a kid, till i met a family friend whom is an amish bow hunter he taught everything, tricks and tips, all i did was to bring him a few cases of locally brewed ginger ale soda (they were strong tasting) it helps to have friends that know tricks
I love seeing new archers getting into the sport.
Someone give my boy a raise lol
Me knowing nothing about bow hunting or bow’s in general thinking budget of 500$ being cheap in that scene.
@@azbittel there are several good quality bows under the $750 mark that people can buy from bear, pse, etc. There is absolutely no reason why someone needs to spend that if they are getting their first bow, and just trying to get into the sport.
I'm trying to get into archery, this makes me so excited. Honestly, that customer service was impeccable
No joke it was literally my birthday last month I’ve always loved bow hunting but I don’t have the funds to get a bow and the #beararchery package would really mean the world to me
Exactly what I was looking for in a video! Thanks
WHERE IS THIS STORE? I WANT TO GO THERE AND GET ALL THE GEAR.
Great videos guys. Fantastic shop as well.
A master class in consultative selling. The customer also listened to all his great advice. What a great exchange!
I’d travel to deal with him
I wish this place was near me !!! #beararchery
Excellent staff! You found a golden bowshop right there !
