Hey all, Ven posted a short document today announcing that they would be deleting their Twitter and ending their push against Alex. The TL;DR is Ven apologizing for their actions and explaining that what started with concern led to things going too far, including Ven acting and speaking in a "transmisogynistic" way. It's only three pages so you can check here for their full statement: shorturl.at/dhs59

Well....to be fair, older people CAN be taken advantage of by people younger than them, believe it or not. Grooming in general, refers to a manipulation tactic used to exploit the trust of a person in a relatonship with the groomer by using their-vulnerabilities, insecurities, issues etc. against them.
TLDR:ANYONE CAN BE A VICTIM.It is simply a matter of circumstances that, causes these situations to happen in the first place.
Hope, this helps. Also, let it be known that, for now I am sort of neutral on this entire matter and simply hope that,Alex isn't a kiddie fiddler.

I agree that this shouldn’t be taken this far, but as someone who has experience with someone who made me extremely uncomfortable, I wasnt at all ready to confront the person about it for as long as I knew them. All that being said, I feel like that’s a conversation that needs to be had in private, and if and ONLY if the person doesn’t apologize, then that can be made publicly. I don’t sympathize very much with Ven due to how out of proportion this blew up, but I don’t think demonizing people who might feel uncomfortable with something that happened just for the reason that they didn’t speak out about until now is ok either. A lot of people online are virtue signalers. They want to feel good by saying nice things, and letting other people in their clique support and enable it. The reality is that most peeps online just doesn't care about people to the level they'd want you to believe. You can see this happen in real time every time someone (or a group of people) they like or defend does something they disagree with. Then it's sudden animosity, because everyone else and their clique are also upset, so they must get upset too. It's mob mentality, but even more stupid. And that's why I believe the internet should never be in control of being the sole deciders of serious situations. Sometimes people even say mean things to each other. None of this warrants a fucking callout post trying to burn someone's reputation. The worst part is how many people will take stuff at face value and assume it's truth, or that the hyperbolic statements about someone's behavior is literal. I think weaponizing a young fan base to smear anybody is definitely predatory behavior, maybe not towards the kids themselves but using online minors to triangulate an adult who hasn't done anything heinous is unhinged levels of lengths to go. It almost does make you as the accuser look worse though, because if you have to use a mob of teens to get your online justice done as an adult, but other adults want to clarify facts and you won't do that, things look very fishy from that angle in my opinion. Also just because if minors are as native and defenseless as the young adult accuser portrays, them why go to minors to spill all the beans to if you know they are more easily influenced? You know what I mean? Can't have your social justice concept that you claim is a poison pill someone else is doing, and then be doing the same exact thing under the guise of "protecting the community from a big bad guy" without substantive facts or evidence.

The clothing stuff is so wild to me. Like do you think people with shoe fetishes are constantly lusting after everyone around them wearing shoes? You think they're incapable of complimenting a persons shoes without it being a sex thing? It's the same sort of weird logic that makes people uncomfortable with gay people in dressing rooms. There's so much weird shaming, transphobia, and shaming of mental illness that really rubbed me the wrong way when I read Ven's document the first time. I remember closing it and being like "Why was this a callout? Why was most of this just Ven bitching about an obviously mentally ill person they never made clear boundaries with, and then oh yeah maybe he crossed some lines with kids AT THE END?" it's just sloppy. Yes, Alex has some things to learn, he's a young man and has some lessons to learn, but he doesn't strike me as a PREDATOR.

Chugga wanted to collab with antdude and messaged his girlfriend to ask him about it bc he knew she would reply quicker. That was it.

It’s almost weirdly exploitative to expect a minor to be able to facilitate a safe space. I don’t say this as an insult but minors don’t have the mental capacity to take on the mental burden of a bunch of other teenagers and their mental health states and the unique situations they’re in especially pertaining to being trans, gay, etc. Adults primarily facilitate those spaces because they not only have lived experience but because they typically have some sort of credentials or have worked in that field before. Asking a teenager to be in charge of a safe space for other teens is essentially the same thing if not worse than a single instance of Alex putting his mental state in the hands of a minor in my opinion.

I'm inclined to agree. Yes, it went incredibly poorly and I'm truly sorry to both parties involved that things turned out the way they did, but condemning someone in a state of crisis for reaching out to a friend for support just doesn't seem right. And in the end, he took accountability for how that situation went! Honestly, he took accountability for every wrong thing or misstep he did in this situation and that is commendable.
Yes, it wound up being the wrong call to go to Mitcha about it, but I speak from experience that when you're in social circles with others on the internet, it can be difficult to know if something might be "too much" to lay onto someone, especially if such boundaries aren't established in the first place. Mitcha ended up being the wrong person to go to in this situation due to what wound up happening afterwards because of it, but I agree that we shouldn't condemn him for reaching out for support from a friend when he was badly hurting.
I've been on the receiving end of people reaching out to me for support when they were hurting like this, and I'll admit, sometimes I've been ill-equipped to handle certain situations and I've had to set firm boundaries with some people as a result. But I would never condemn them or think ill of them for needing someone to be there for them. That isn't fair to them. I'm their friend and just because I may be ill-equipped to be proper support to them, that doesn't mean I think they shouldn't reach out for help: just that I might not be the right person to reach out to; in which case I'd say as much and direct them to someone who IS better equipped to help them in the way that they need.
This is not me saying that this is what Mitcha should've done in this situation, as I understand they were placed in a position that they were ill-prepared for and their mental health suffered as a result. I'm not about to tell them what they could've done when I was just as ill-prepared as they were the first time it happened to me, and it DID mess me up as a result. It's really scary to be in that position, especially when you're young and dealing with your own shit, and I sincerely hope that they're able to get the support they need for their mental health due to what resulted in this situation.
What I AM saying is that shit like this DOES happen, and while it is unfortunate, I don't believe it right to vilify either side for it.
I'm very glad that Alex is seeking help and is taking the time to focus on himself while everything is going on. I wish him the best and hope that he's able to get the support that he needs; I hope the same for Mitcha as well. Ven has actively been proved to be lying or twisting the truth to make Alex look bad, and that in my eyes invalidates most if not all claims they have made. They are gatekeeping people who have had a different experience from them.
Ven's intentions are actively malicious, they are jealous and bitter towards Alex, and while Alex did need orientation and correction, they don't deserve the treatment they got from these acusations. Ven was actively hurting everyone that ever interacted with Alex just to make Alex look bad, and that is inexcusable.

it's so scary that content creators are one bad friendship/relationship away from a google doc dropping 💀 and there will always be an audience that eats this up in the name of morality and some twisted sense of superiority. honestly how can you not be paranoid

First, thank you for pointing out that its way weirder for an adult to convince a bunch of teens they had been sexually used than anything Alex seemingly actually said (aside from talking about unaliving to a teen, that was not appropriate). A lot of recent allegations seem to be "We had kind of a shitty relationship" which, yeah lots of people do. or "i was uncomfortable secretly the whole time" which, that's awful, but if you don't communicate that how is your partner supposed to know? Neither of those things make either partner a predator or a terrible person. This recent need to turn relationships not working out into full blown accusations is insane to me. Especially since, as a survivor myself, I know how this will reflect on other people that choose to come out, with actual valid allegations about actually bad people. Also, what is with this recent satanic-panic level idea that anyone a day over 18 that has any interaction with anyone under 18 is being predatory?? No, talking about gender identity isn't predatory, neither is sexuality. If it was, people would be arresting sweet old Ms. Smith for talking about how she has a husband and just had a kid. Is Alex the best person for that? I don't know, from what I've seen probably not. But that doesn't make what he did inherently predatory simply because of the subject matter.

I'm having an emotional response to this because I am so tired of all this cancelling crap. Not everything is lovebombing or gaslighting or manipulation, not every interaction with teenagers is abusive, and not every 20yo is immediately aware of how their interactions can be interpreted/weaponized.

I'm glad you're giving a levelheaded, fair approach to this topic. The other time I heard about this everyone just jumped on clowning on Alex and calling him a groomer, while the whole time I was just thinking, "This feels so petty and unsubstantiated." I almost always side with victims, but I don't even think the "victims" in the story are actually victims. If anything, Alex is the victim.

Ven is deffinetly one of those idiots who thinks setting a boundary is "Well I said it's against my boundaries, so you have to stop what your doing immediately, even when it has nothing to do with me!" When no. You set boundaries, you keep them. You are the responisble party to step away from someone who is doing something you don't like, and you sure as hell can't go blame someone for doing it anyway WHEN YOU SAID IT WAS OK. YOU ARE THE ONE DOING THE MANIPULATING THEN IF YOU DO NOT SPEAK UP.

I feel horrible for Alex in this situation. Ven talked about Alex’s mental health when they had absolutely no right to - even if Alex had posted it to a public server - and completely invalidated Alex in vulnerable points of his exploration of gender identity. As a trans man myself, it’s so frustrating and hurtful to see trans folks being so unkind and giving no grace to other folks going through the very difficult and personal experience of trying to understand their own gender. If we can’t be compassionate with each other, then we’re screwed - often nobody else will be. Where could Alex have gone to talk about his feelings around gender that Ven wouldn’t have heavily criticized him? Obviously we can’t know for sure, but to me it seems like Ven was trying hard to isolate an already very emotionally fragile person. Alex isn’t perfect, nobody is, and creators are just people too. Ven seems very manipulative to me and I really hope that they don’t try to start anything around this again. I hope they spend some time reflecting on why they felt the need to go after Alex the way they did and why they did and learn, and most of all I hope that this experience didn’t set Alex too far back in his own journey of finding the most healthy, authentic version of himself.

And people wonder why slander makes me so uncontrollably angry. The more people lie about things like this, the more people will stop believing accusations altogether, and then horrible people will be able to do even more harm. I have been accused of horrible things in the past because of insensitive, joke posts I have made online. And it drove me to the absolute darkest point in my life so far. I remember waking up every day thinking my life was over before it truly began because of a couple tasteless jokes I made on the internet when I was 14-15. I'm 17 now. and that half year of torment still affects me greatly. Alex def made some mistakes and he absolutely needs to be more responsible. but there's a difference between being a flawed human being who needs to take a step back and make better decisions at times than simply being irredeemable.

The sad thing about the whole event is Alex acknowledges that his image is forever tarnished. And he _is right._ Even when people are cleared of wrongdoing, THAT wrongdoing forever follows them. Look at SuperMega. Nick and Lex (intentional on her part or not) _damaged_ their reputation and they forever have to carry that, all while Nick gets away with smugly mocking them. Look at Pyro as well: Pyro cleared his time from being a groomer, but you still have people calling him one and his fanbase (for better or worse) use the fact he had to admit to being a furry degenerate to make fun of him as part of the "lol buli pyro" jokes.

as a genderqueer teenager myself i do agree with the points you’ve made on the whole safe space topic. i dont think its weird for adults and teens that are old enough to fully understand the subject to talk about it, as long as it stays as healthy discussion and it doesn’t delve into venting things. its also important for the adults to keep that boundary, and to be the enforcers. they’re ultimately more mature than us, and are in an inherent position of power, so it’s important to keep that in mind no matter who you are in the scenario
