to add onto the “who is the park for” question in the mario kart 8/tour version of this track, there is a luigi’s mansion attraction, even though i doubt any baby would ever step near that place.
Yeah, but the internal names also show that Mushroom Bridge and Mushroom City are the signature courses for Koopa Troopa and Paratroopa, respectively... even though they fit much better as Toad and Toadette's signature courses.
The biggest crime about Baby Park is that after Mario Kart DS, they got rid of Kamek's Magic Show. I'm guessing Kamek was just too busy to run it anymore and had to retire. They replaced it with a Luigi's Mansion haunted house, which is cool. But dang, I was hoping to visit the park myself one day and see his Magic Show. Maybe the reason Kammy is in PM64 and TTYD is because Kamek is too busy doing daily shows at Baby Park. Also interesting thing to note is that after Mario Kart DS, Bowser's Ship suddenly became themed around Bowser Jr. I like to think that adult Bowser decided to let them change it to be based on his son. Imagine how cool it would be to visit a theme park and see a big ride themed around yourself! I'm sad to announce that as of the Mario Kart Tour version, the Roller Coaster was cancelled and taken down due to extreme safety violations.
For some reason I always thought the roller coaster on this track functioned as a hazard you could collide with when it dipped low enough, but it never seems to reach close enough to the track. Or maybe it's possible under the right circumstances via getting hit with an item? It's funny how such a simple track has so much going on outside of it.
Either I'm experiencing dimensional slip, or you can DEFINITELY get hit by it, and it has the same knockback effect as Bowser's spikey shells, or Chomp, or Piranha Plants, ect. I think it might be a component of the track that gets removed in most setups, though, like the life rings on Daisy Cruiser.
0:36 If we were a bit further right, and I think also if we were a bit taller, we'd have gotten hit here. Perhaps a low-hanging hazard is the course's way of showing favoritism towards babies?
the idea of a video mapping all the tracks in this game sounds rly fun, would love to see that. also, those weird goomba ride things look like a crossbreed of normal goombas and galoombas.
2:48 Next to the Poochy Slide (which has a door under it), that Merry-go-Round is my favorite part of the park! Reminds me of those carnivals from foreign countries that uses unlicensed characters as their theme.
Rather, I find his ship in water quite more strange 2:28 , as being tied to the land makes sense when FLYING is the norm for Bowser's ships/fleets. I'd like to image the ships just start transforming and gain propellers somehow, and that the sails are merely cosmetic.
Baby Park is quite the interesting place, but my favorite iteration is the one in Mario Kart 8. It features many visual upgrades to the original. The Paratroopa building is now named "Shop Paratroopa," so you can clearly see that it is indeed a shop. Bowser's Ship was turned into a ride (or if it was already a ride, it looks much more like one), and it now resembles an airship instead of a regular sailboat. Finally, there are many NPCs riding the attractions, making the place feel more lively overall. Great video, ZoomZike, but now you'll have to zoom over to the hospital and get your stomach pumped. Hope you feel better.
If Mario & Luigi: partners in time is any indication, the physical capabilities of the Mushroom Kingdom's youth is more of a mystery than this park's intended demographic.
I genuinely love your videos taking looks at various seemingly random things in games like these MKDD courses in ways that I have not seen any other youtubers do. It's genuinely the kind of content that I wish there was more of, and would love to give a shot at making in the future if I got the chance to. Genuinely an inspiration to me, please keep being you ZoomZike.
I'm sure you've already got the June Zoom segments recorded, but I'd love to see a section comparing the original Baby Park to the 8 and potentially Tour variants. I feel like a lot of the Yoshi's Island elements are missing outright, and it'd be interesting to see if they kept the DK volcano there.
These level analysis videos are exactly the sort of thing I would have wanted to make or watch when I was young. I’ve always been fascinated by background details that you can’t access. Kudos! Please make more :)
I love playing this track as Bowser Jr. or Bowser, thanks to their Bowser Shell specialty item. I always got a kick out of launching those giganto shells willy-nilly and watching them ricochet everywhere. And here, where the whole track is one closed loop, I could really go wild.
0:06 I love how you chose Wario of all people to ask on a date. I almost thought it would be Waluigi, Daisy, or Luigi... But choosing Wario got a good laugh out of me. Haha! 🤣
What I like about this track is, that in iirc Mario Kart 8, its version has the song go up by 1/2 of an octave and also picks up speed each time you end a round, just to add to the extreme craziness of this level.
The obvious explanation is that baby park is in fact a exploitation of the labor Yoshi did for the babies in the Yoshi's island games, except in a theme park form Mario had to pay for his PHD somehow, to become doctor mario, and he must have had money before gathering any in the other games; Opening a theme park based on the one time he grew up with dinosaurs, while after the fact, is a sweet yet clever way of gaining it, even if a bit misguided However his track design for racing is out of this way, I hear Nascar wants to contract him

What if my babies take me to this park? Because they designed it? That would be weird, I think. Anyways, your dedication to June Zoom is extremely admirable, keep it up and best of luck!
Okay so to my understanding, the hearts (and a lot of imagery, like the smiling clouds and ferris wheel and stuff) are all supposed to be drawing inspiration from Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story. Smiling objects and hearts are MASSIVE visuals motifs, at least in Yoshi's Story. There are heart collectables that are needed to unlock more levels, and the object of conflict in the game, The Super Happy Tree, has a large, smiling heart as it's primary focus.
So, how does Mario Kart DS's version of the track fit into all this? All four of the GameCube tracks they put in the game were stripped down due to the DS being unable to handle them at full power, and Baby Park further had its length reduced to five laps from seven, so I wonder what that would look like in-universe. Also, how does Mario Kart 8/Deluxe's version of the track, where everything is back to full power and the track is now sloped so that it can be anti-gravity, fit into all this? D:
The bottles that are towers can be soda stashions. Also the glass that showcases the "milk" could be just a gallon or more worth of spsce. Containing something that looks like milk but can last a lot longer.
I think the milk silos just indicate it is for babies, if your baby gets hungry, just hook them up to the silo. (and who said it wasn't refrigerated?) The question is whose milk is it? It can't be moomoo milk because babies can't safely drink non-human milk
I think that's because of the all-time argument of "graphics vs. style" and which one is more ageless, rather than straight up looking better or worse.
