Jojo Part 2's "official" colored manga has the brass knuckles as the same color in the anime in case people were gonna say it came out after KSS ( prnt.sc/hk8gR7agdpy3 ) Which treasure in The Great Cave Offensive is your favorite?
I find it hilarious how 3 golden triangles with nigh-omnipotent wish granting power left behind by actual dieties are somehow *less valuable* than a Katana in this game. It's not even a legendary or magical katana, it's just a plain standard katana.
I'd say my usual Katana privilege, something I've noticed in recent years about balance in games and he anyone that uses or if the game allows use of, they tend to be good. But this is to far back. Unless this trend goes back longer then I thought. Investigation is in order.
"I'm sure Kirby will make the most of it." Bold of you to assume that Kirby has any concept of money to begin with. He'll probably decorate his house with the treasures without even understanding that he could make anything from selling them.
In Kirby Super Star's ending credits, it is revealed that Kirby owns a house. However, I am a millennial, and thus will never be able to own a house. :(
At first I found it funny that Falcon's helmet is worth much more than the Screw Attack (y'know, one of the strongest and most devastating weapons in the Metroid universe) but when you sit there and think about it, it kinda makes sense. Falcon's helmet is pretty thin and is a single piece yet seems to have similar functionality to Samus' helmet which is usually attached to her Power Suit. The Screw Attack, meanwhile, casts a powerful energy field around you...but only if you're somersaulting? If you think about it, it's a really weird niche use. SPECIFICALLY if you're somersaulting in the air and not if you're just...spinning in general. Granted, it'd be broken if it was active while we were moving in Morph Ball mode, but the Screw Attack is only useful if you have the strength and agility to do a somersault in a full suit of armor! And that's just for a few seconds! If you wanna be the flying ball of death we recognize it as you NEED the Space Jump and probably the Gravity Suit if you also wanna be able to do it while submerged in water or lava! And it's Chozo tech which is apparently super notorious to replicate by pretty much everyone else so it wouldn't be much use to begin with outside of anyone who happens to own Chozo armor! Being 800 bucks is definitely a steal but it'd be nothing more than an expensive paper weight unless you had the equipment and training to use it. That along with its' awkward niche use makes sense for me for why it's so cheap.
@@kirbylover2.038 Oh yeah! I didn't even think if that! Falcon's helmet is one of a kind and belongs to a famous racer while we KNOW (or, at the very least, realistically assume) that there's more than one Screw Attack! I think three if you don't include the games where Samus gets her upgrades stolen.
On top of everything, the screw attack is mainly a weapon, and Dreamland is a relatively peaceful land, with any interstellar threat being dealt with by kirby, so the weapons market probably has low demand
also, 15:30(ish) - the catch with the Triforce is, not only do you need $8000, but you need that wealth to be Balanced between your Bank Account (Power), your Cash Stash (Courage), and your Investment Portfolio (Wisdom)...otherwise, if you try to buy it, itll split up and go to two other buyers, and then you have to search through listing after listing and hope that they eventually put up their thirds for sale again, so you can try to reobtain all three...
The Japanese name for the Model Ship, "Floating Moon Boat", makes it a clear counterpart to the Sun Ring. Also, the Beast Fossil and Fish Fossil may be a reference to the fossils found in the original Pokémon game, which are also found directly next to each other (though you only get one of them). Also, Orichalcum might be a reference to the Dragon Quest series, where, in the 3rd game, it is revealed that Erdrick's sword, and possibly all his gear, was made from the stuff. As for the Katana being more valuable than the Triforce, my best guess is to do with Japanese culture. In feudal Japan, the lowest level of the hierarchy were merchants. Even farmers and artisans, who were typically poorer than merchants, were more highly regarded, because they had the honor to MAKE their own living, rather than simply selling the fruits of others' labor. Besides the Emperor, Shogun, and Daimyo (Feudal Lords), the highest members of society were Samurai. Therefore, I believe the Katana's high value compared to the Triforce is based on how much honor Samurai had, and how little honor is to be gained from wishing.
My theory here is that a few of the items in the Great Cave are simply replicas, hence explaining why Mr. Saturn is being sold and why the entire Triforce is massively under-priced. Also Samus did visit Dream Land once to deal with some Metroids, maybe she somehow dropped the Screw Attack while looking for them.
The fact that your recent videos have been in the proper aspect ratio and not 16:9 with a black border is something I just now noticed and is just a neat touch I appreciate
Ironically, the total amount of money you get in The Great Cave Offensive is also the maximum amount of points you can achieve in a videogame with a high score. Also, the part where the sentence about the barrel was voiced by the DK Rap guy was dope!
I just loved the YuGiOh reference made at 10:22, the absolute horror in your voice when you realize what's happening, while Yugi says "It's time to duel!" is just amazing. Edit: speaking of hilarious jokes made in this video 11:40 has Marth attacking ZoomZike for thinking he was a Fire Emblem hater Another YuGiOh reference (which the same joke is just reused) at 13:46
Regarding the Koopa Shell: Koopa Shells are essentially clothing to Koopa Troopas. They can take them off, break them, and likely buy them at stores. Mario Kart backs this up. Why else would they trash so many of them? $8 per shell is pretty good for long-lasting clothing like that, and it's fairly cheap to throw around in a sponsored event like Mario Kart.
I was going to say "not literally, but probably in spirit?" until I remembered who we were talking about. Kirby is rich in spirit too. And friendship! And all the other metaphorical senses that one might be rich! DAMN YOU KIRBY, YOU THINK YOU'RE BETTAH THAN ME?
Fun fact: the Beast and Fish Fossils may actually be Pokemon references, for Super Star released a whole month after Red and Green over in Japan, and specifically having these two fossils, which are the two kind of fossil Pokemon that exists in every region, kind of gives it away. Maybe the names and graphics were decided around the last part of development? (It would also explain their surprisingly low price for, y'know, fossils, the thing even Pokemon seems to think too valuable to be able to sell in shops) It helps that Sakurai would later mention having played through Pokemon Sun and Moon in its entirety on release date to decide on a Pokemon from it for Ultimate's playable newcomer lineup. (And to his credit, Pokemon maingames CAN be surprisingly short. XY's can be beaten in a single weekend, for example)
Ah man, I was putting together a paper myself about the pricing of these items. But props to you for finding the origins of the ones from other games and those that hold cultural significance. Most of the latter I was just about to lose my mind trying to figure out. If it helps ease your mind, I did do the calculations to find out how much in weight the gold and platinum objects are. Based on the price, there's barely half an ounce of actual platinum on that ring, so it could well be the same price as a very large or fancy xmas tree.
Now here's a question. How much money would you be willing to pay for each of these treasures, realistically speaking? Not their in-game value, but their real value. I'd be curious to see a video analyzing that.
The two fossils you can grab at 7:12 are a reference to the Pokemon series, where in a couple of the games, you can get a choice between one of the two fossils to bring along with you on your journey. Given how the chests are in the same room, with one on the left and one on the right, it's safe to assume that it'd be like a choice, but since no one else prevents you from taking both of them, you get to enjoy doubling your collection (and potentially Pokemon).
3:21 so for context, I'm pretty sure the screw attack ended up in the great cave offensive in kirby's dreamland 3. In it, samus is missing her gravity suit ice beam, missiles grapple beam, and of course, screw attack, you can tell by the choice of armor, she is wearing nothing but the varia suit, meaning we had a metroid prime scenario
03:06 Perhaps the Chozo have visited Planet Popstar before? If we want to go even further, then we have the Ancients that show up throughout Kirby lore, who are similarly advanced in technology and similarly mysteriously vanished just like the Chozo. Who's to say that they are not one and the same? And then there's Dedede, an alien bird himself. Could he thus be a Chozo, a descendant of the Ancients?
The main ancients in kirby have been confirmed to be humans, however "the ancients" are not limited to one race so I could stretch to races across the galaxy. They were just all working in one place at one point
@@TheRealSuperKirby But that's about the people who onced lived in and conducted the experiments in the Forgotten Land, right? Was it ever said that those are the Ancients as well?
I feel like the fact that I knew the brass knuckles could be a Battle Tendency reference (even though he SHOULD'VE used clackers tbh) means that I've read and watched part 2 way, way too much.
@@moosesues8887 Part 2 happens to be my favorite, and I also quite liked Part 1 (even though it is probably the weakest part, that doesn't make it bad, IMO) and there's nothing wrong with that! :) I get that part skipping is a big thing or whatever, but some people like to watch from the beginning. PB and BT aren't somehow objectively bad, lol. :P
Which begs the question, *why* is it the hardest treasure to get in the game? They could just swap the positions of the Triforce and the katana and swap both treasures' price tags, and then the Triforce would be both the hardest treasure to get and the most expensive.
@@imveryangryitsnotbutterwell with all powerful deities such as nova and star dream, the triforce only has like 1/100th the strength of nova and star dream so it makes sense why it’s so cheap
Something tells me that Kirby's actually the one putting the price on these items. Given the surprisingly low value of things like the screw attack, it would make sense. He doesn't understand the extent of their value, so he lowballs the prices.
The jokes in these videos are starting to get a lot more unpredictable and I'm loving it The dream course, goku drip, the 100 coin These videos just keep getting better
So as I've been informed while watching Metroid Prime content, apparently the Chozo, when they interact with other races, gift them some of their technology, and in regards to power-ups, usually the Screw Attack. This is based on the fact that the Luminoth of Prime 2 and the Reptilicus on Bryyo in Prime 3 have it. And in the latter case, it's in a room on the frozen half of the planet that showcasing statues of a Reptilicus and a Chozo, the latter presumable gifting Screw Attack to the former (though the power up is actually found BELOW the hand of the Chozo statue, presumably because the mechanism in the hand caused in to position itself vertically, dropping the item). What I'm saying is that the Chozo must've been on Pop Star and interacted with whoever was around at some point if Screw Attack is lying around on the planet. EDIT: While a mislabeling, Screw Ball would become an item in Melee that allowed the holder to Screw Attack when jumping or throw it at someone to force them to Screw Attack. I believe the item became a Badge akin to the Franklin Badge in Brawl.
So because of 12:15. I have to admit the dime you used to base your calculations might be the same issue. A cute nod to the value of a dime rather than a true suggestion of 10 cents equaling exactly 10 G. This makes even more sense when you look at the fossils you mentioned being likely undervalued. Honestly, the most likely answer (although the least fun) is that developers didn't consistently price items as you discovered between the Platinum ring and the Christmas Tree.
I think the reason that both games have the same maximum score is obvious: 9,999,990 is the highest possible score with only 7 digits, if you ignore the 1s place, and although they had different treasures, it makes sense that the remake would have the same max score as the original, so people could accurately compare their scores across different versions of the game.
I'm pretty sure the reason for some of the prices being less expensive than expected is just kirby being bad at determining when he's being scammed or lied to when finding the value of his treasures
The 100G= $1 actually makes a lot of sense because that’s approximately the yen to USD exchange rate in the 90’s-2000’s. So 1G is likely worth 1 yen, which makes a lot of sense for a game from Japan!
The reason the triforce is so cheap is because if you attempt to make a wish without a balance of the three elements it'll split up and go to the three people who represent the traits
7:22 I don't think that a fossil of an animal you can find alive today would go for all that much - unless it was an extinct fish, which it never specifies. But I'm not an expert. EDIT: 10:26 I remember hearing back in Japanese class that some bowls would develop weak spots from the regular action of tapping the spoon on the rim (I think to get stuff off of the spoon, maybe?). EDIT 2: 11:09 That's because you don't live in the Nintendo universe, where you could find one basically anywhere.
It's a shame we don't know the size or appearance of the gold; If we could measure it, we could get volume, then use density of gold. The price of gold by weight is consistent. Usually about $53,000 USD per kilogram. That'd find alternate, more lucrative prices for SOME of the treasures. 14:00 Lol, this sentence mixing. Much appreciated. So, does the rerelease predate Drawcia's game debut? If so, Drawcia's wand showing up before her would be interesting.... Anyway, neat analysis video! Thanks for uploading!
Another note about the brass knuckles potentially being a JoJo reference. A Japanese game having a JoJo reference is like an American Cartoon having a Star Wars reference. It's not toooooo much of a stretch to assume it's JoJos.
wait since kirby picked up the triforce and it doesnt split that means he has a balance of a three atrabutes and while kirby clearly has power and courage this means kirby must be hiding some very incitful wisdom
Metal Gear Solid came out in 1998, 2 years after Kirby Super Star's release. The bandana was a reference to Rambo in Super Star. In Super Star Ultra, the bandana could be a reference to Metal Gear Solid, it just depends.
4:38 You had to make a "Your Mom" joke, didn't you? 9:19 I guessed it was 100 bucks! I'm no dummy! 10:22 Nice Yu-Gi-Oh reference! Tutankhamen was the name behind the mask. 11:37! What a SSBM reference, Marth going on the attack. I'll have you know that Kirby stole it, not the player. 13:47 Another reference! Priests use anks to worship the many gods.
Apparently in the japanese version, the conversion is 1G = 1¥ (The dime is called a 10 yen coin) So in today’s money he could have $99,999.90 or have $72,799.80
It might not be that crazy that some of those items aren't priced as high as we might expect. Like the Triforce and Screw Attack, because either A) these are just replicas. or B) No one in the Kirby games can/know how to use those items, like the Screw Attack, I doubt the Dreamland inhabitants have a suit that can use it or been taught by Chozo or even know what a Chozo is. So they wouldn't give it much value for functionality. And if you bring up Smash (as I just thought of it while writing this comment) it is a separate universe, and Master hand from each series are different, Kirby can eat one and not the other.
All 3 clips showed Samus using the Space Jump (infinite jump), but only one clip showed Samus using the Screw Attack (damaging enemies by somersaulting)
Ah, at last we have a video documenting just how much Kirby was able to make during The Great Cave Offensive. It's... not as high as I thought it would be, but it's still great to have a proper answer after so long! Also, the wish-granting Triforce being worth less than a random katana will never not be funny to me.
I think that the Screw Attack is worth so (relatively) little is because it's useless without a Power Suit. The Mr. Saturn is probably a figurine, not a living creature.
Imagine 100,000 dollars worth of treasure lying in an undiscovered cave and the one to find the cave has no concept or want for money but takes all the treasure anyway. What does Kirby even do with all this stuff?
I mean Marth, Chrom and Lucina don't really *need* the Falchion for anything, so I'd say it's fine to let Kirby sell it Hell, at 325000 Gold, that's money that could be better spent on forging Brave weapons to have absurd stopping power that outclasses anything Falchion could ever do
I literally only just realised you had made this video! Thank you so much for answering my question and making a video on the idea! Turns out Kirby is not the millionaire I assumed he was, he's still gotta get that bread XD
i’ve bough a fish fossil for 10 bucks before. Beast fossils are usually much more expensive, but there are many fossil deposits where there are hundreds of small fossil fish preserved relatively well.
"Uh, huh, so's you's tellin' me that these triangles can grant wishes, eh? Riiiiight... well, I guess I can give ya 8000 for them. Take it or leave it."
Does Kirby even use money? I just assumed if he wanted something, he'd pull out the hammer/sword/parasol/cutter/fire power/ice/stone/whatever power and take it by force. I mean what're you gonna do? Try and stop him? Heh, yeah good luck with that.
"I can't even begin to fathom how [the screw attack] ended up in a place like this" Well we know from Kirby's Dream Land 3 that Samus Aran is a canon character in the Kirby universe so
I imagine the Nunchucks could also be more expensive due to legal reasons, they were banned in quite a few places at the time, and if not banned then had the price hiked up to make it harder for someone to get them.

For those wondering why the Katana is so expensive, it's cause it's arguably the hardest treasure to get in the game.
I wish I was richer than Kirby.
I'm sure that final total is still something Kirby should be happy with. I hear housing is real cheap in dreamland.
Something tells me that Kirby's actually the one putting the price on these items. Given the surprisingly low value of things like the screw attack, it would make sense. He doesn't understand the extent of their value, so he lowballs the prices.
And he also found like 20 wish granting things
He does not care for those anymore
I don't know why but... I love it when people upload content of video games in the game's actual aspect ratio.
The jokes in these videos are starting to get a lot more unpredictable and I'm loving it
The dream course, goku drip, the 100 coin
These videos just keep getting better
I like to think Kirby just came up with the prices for all these off the top of their head as they found em.
4:36 wasn't expecting that roast damn got me
Just shows that kirbies world has some serious currency issues if everything is so dam cheap
No wonder shops are so rare in games.
12:32 "What happened to the Queen?"
How this sentence has aged...

@@gamertypeawesome Doesn't mean it was written today
RIP Queen Elizabeth II of England.
Can I get an o7?
I think the reason that both games have the same maximum score is obvious: 9,999,990 is the highest possible score with only 7 digits, if you ignore the 1s place, and although they had different treasures, it makes sense that the remake would have the same max score as the original, so people could accurately compare their scores across different versions of the game.
That was 1996 dollars though! Kirby hands that off a Waddle Dee with a green accounting visor for investing and they'd be loaded today!
So 1G is likely worth 1 yen, which makes a lot of sense for a game from Japan!
>goes on about disrespecting the Screw Attack
>shows Samus using Space Jump without SA
sasuga
14:35 yes. These two things should definitely be priced differently. The tree is worth way more
And here I was wondering how Kirby pays his rent. Seeing that ol' pinky is probably a minimalist, that should cover him for a few years.
Fun fact, they know how to make orichalcum nowadays. Its basically Brass with a bit of iron, lead, and nickle in it.
The reason the triforce is so cheap is because if you attempt to make a wish without a balance of the three elements it'll split up and go to the three people who represent the traits
I think the sheer price of the christmas tree and its status as a treasure proves christmas is Extinct in kirby's universe
.... ya know I fun the idea that Kirby could just flat out have a Triforce in his basement and it never gets brought up cuz he doesn't care.
What happened to the other glass slipper? Still on the owners foot. She was in a hurry.
That drip thing startled me. Drip Goku... We met again.
7:22
I don't think that a fossil of an animal you can find alive today would go for all that much - unless it was an extinct fish, which it never specifies.
But I'm not an expert.
EDIT: 10:26
I remember hearing back in Japanese class that some bowls would develop weak spots from the regular action of tapping the spoon on the rim (I think to get stuff off of the spoon, maybe?).
EDIT 2: 11:09
That's because you don't live in the Nintendo universe, where you could find one basically anywhere.
14:00-14:05
I love what you did there
I can only assume the Screw Attack is a collectable ball with the symbol on it and not the technology.
Edit: Same with the Triforce.
It's not toooooo much of a stretch to assume it's JoJos.
i've always wondered about this ever since i was a kid but somehow never put together that 1:1 conversion with the dime and 100 dollar coin
I love how all the artifacts you collect would foreshadow Smash, my favorite is the Falcon Helmet!
The prices in the game are somehow even less consistent than in real life
wait since kirby picked up the triforce and it doesnt split that means he has a balance of a three atrabutes and while kirby clearly has power and courage this means kirby must be hiding some very incitful wisdom
"Are You Richer Than Kirby?"
"The first item is worth-"
I lost.
I had no clue what some of the treasures were referencing, so thanks for the video!
Yep, I paid about that much for my life size Mr Saturn plush
The Bandana could also be a reference to Metal Gear Solid. The sprite looks at lot like it does in those games.
Apparently in the japanese version, the conversion is 1G = 1¥ (The dime is called a 10 yen coin)
So in today’s money he could have $99,999.90 or have $72,799.80
10:12 got me. Good game ZoomZike.
The Yu-Gi-Oh jokes were great, love your stuff, Zike!
Richer than Kirby, I would ask MrBeast that question.
And if you bring up Smash (as I just thought of it while writing this comment) it is a separate universe, and Master hand from each series are different, Kirby can eat one and not the other.
theory: the triforce was devalued by kirby eating ganondorf followed by him trading it to wham bam rock in exchange for a charleston chew
Personally I'd say the frying pan is a reference to Paula's Fry Pan from Earthbound
I like to think that Kirby donated all the money he earned to charity
"The Screw Attack is an incredible piece of technology"
Show Samus not using the screw attack
All 3 clips showed Samus using the Space Jump (infinite jump), but only one clip showed Samus using the Screw Attack (damaging enemies by somersaulting)
Fair lol
Wait what about all the treasure at 16:44? That should count too
Ah, at last we have a video documenting just how much Kirby was able to make during The Great Cave Offensive. It's... not as high as I thought it would be, but it's still great to have a proper answer after so long!
Also, the wish-granting Triforce being worth less than a random katana will never not be funny to me.
I think that the Screw Attack is worth so (relatively) little is because it's useless without a Power Suit.
The Mr. Saturn is probably a figurine, not a living creature.
Honestly these value prices make sense considering Dedede was the one who set up this scuffed economy.
8:38 this poses SO MANY QUESTIONS!
Imagine 100,000 dollars worth of treasure lying in an undiscovered cave and the one to find the cave has no concept or want for money but takes all the treasure anyway.
What does Kirby even do with all this stuff?
12:33)
"What happened to the queen?"
Sans and Reigen.
thanks for also talking about the origins for the treasures that was neat
Great video
4:30 *Lucas starts crying his eyes out*
You always have well edited videos!
I mean Marth, Chrom and Lucina don't really *need* the Falchion for anything, so I'd say it's fine to let Kirby sell it
Hell, at 325000 Gold, that's money that could be better spent on forging Brave weapons to have absurd stopping power that outclasses anything Falchion could ever do
Dude went on a tangent about a nonexistent JoJo reference to fill time in the video. Lol
Maybe in the Kirby universe, you can get more for a dollar then in the real world
"Uh, huh, so's you's tellin' me that these triangles can grant wishes, eh?
Riiiiight... well, I guess I can give ya 8000 for them. Take it or leave it."
Does Kirby even use money? I just assumed if he wanted something, he'd pull out the hammer/sword/parasol/cutter/fire power/ice/stone/whatever power and take it by force.
I mean what're you gonna do? Try and stop him? Heh, yeah good luck with that.
A GCO video madey by you specifically feels like a dream come true. Ty
"I can't even begin to fathom how [the screw attack] ended up in a place like this"
Well we know from Kirby's Dream Land 3 that Samus Aran is a canon character in the Kirby universe so
I imagine the Nunchucks could also be more expensive due to legal reasons, they were banned in quite a few places at the time, and if not banned then had the price hiked up to make it harder for someone to get them.
Samus exists in the Kirby universe. Screw Attack being there is a given.
12:33
Hal and Sakurai was ahead of their time during the remake
11:42 All he has to do is grab you. He has a ridiculously long grab range.
Kirby's small fortune is not worth nearly as much as his absolute love of life, food, and friendship. Kirby's living *the* life, yo.
