Cheap headless guitar!/The Eart headless guitar from Amazon review

- A few months ago I starting exploring the world of headless guitars. I came across the Eart headless guitar while browsing Amazon. After reading some mixed reviews I grew skeptical of it and I went in the direction of NK headless. After spending a lot of time with my NK I decided I was gonna go back and take a chance on the Eart headless guitar from amazon. Well 309$ and a week later it arrived and after getting some quality time playing and going over this instrument thoroughly I put together a true honest review . In this video I go over my own thoughts and opinions as well as a full mix demo, specs and stand alone playing so you can hear just the guitar.
DISCLAIMER - All thoughts and opinions are mine and mine only. I am in no way involved or biased towards Eart headless guitars. it was purchased with my own money and all specs are straight from the sale listing of this instrument. Развлечения
Great review, I love these guitars, I bought one with low expectations, but was so impressed, I now have several of them. Once I learned how the bridge worked, I loved it, and I like the pickups. According to the company, the frets are stainless.
How do you keep it in tune? Mine doesn’t stay in tune.
@@DreamMachineX Do you have the tremolo, or fixed bridge version? I have 4 of the fixed bridge versions of the Eart headless, and they all stay in tune. If you have the fixed bridge version and you're having tuning issues, my first guess is that you are not stringing the guitar properly...search youtube for a video on this...if that isn't the cause, then make sure all of the hardware at both ends of the guitar is nice and tight, saddles, bridge plate etc. Do not over-tighten though, you don't want to strip out any of the parts or screws.
Thank you for covering this; I'm going to have to pull the trigger on one of these!
Another great video! Nice work man!
I got the blue one and I love it! I don’t have any other headless and I love how I can play in tight spaces in my living room and I love the playing posture. I took the time to swap pickups for a high rated amazon $40 set and I perceive improved note separation and clarity. The only qc issue was interesting: the control cavity cover was on so tight there was no way to remove it lol. Had to unscrew one of the pots and push it down through the cavity to finally pop out the cover. I’ve got it tuned to D standard atm. Mine is named “Blue Steel”
Nice review. Couldn't agree more. My first headless and value is unbeatable.
Nice review dude. I’ve been looking at these for a little while and had been hesitant to purchase due to the mixed reviews on the trem bridge but once I saw they had a fixed I went ahead and ordered. Also, yours was the first in-depth review on this guitar, spec wise. 🤘🏼
I don't think this guitar has a trem bridge.
@@christoofart the W1 has a trem. The one in this video, the W2, has a fixed.
Bought one yonks ago because I adore the dark, hollow (don't know how you yanks would describe it, that's how my da and I have been calling it for ages--it's that characteristic that's airy, ethereal, sounds amazing when you put some chorus and a dreamy reverb on it--you know what I mean now I hope--we sum it up with the word "hollow") sound of the pickups clean. Run that through a Klon-type overdrive, into a Orange style amp, and you're in heaven. Does really well, absolutely just a great guitar for the dosh. Couldn't be happier with it--when I go to grab a headless, it's the one I go to. When I go for a humbucker guitar that's *not* for a vintage sound (I grab my Lotus L-400 Falcon for that), it's the one I go to. It's become an integral part of my kit, won't lie.
This is coming from a guy who owns more'n a dozen guitars. It's just a great player, stays in tune, feels good, sounds good, looks good.
Well said
Haunting?
@@alecmullaney7957 haunting is a different vibe, bit heavier to our ear.
I have three Eart and they are keepers. Two were perfectly set up the other I did some action adjustments and intonation. Less than $ 900 for all three best money ever spent.
Thanks for the review! I’ve been thinking about getting one of these.
I purchased almost the same exact guitar mine had the tremelo (which was crap) replaced with a sophia type trem unit (we had the body routed for the block and claw) mine has a ash body and a ebony looking fret board with the zebra humbuckers - replaced the electronics added a coil tap on the tone knob (madhatter kit) planned on replacing the pup's but they sounded so good I kept the pup's. This guitar is amazing I think - I can't put it down my Jems and strat are pissed off now. So for under a grand I have a strandberg killer. I love the headless guitars hard to go back now. The Kiesel Zues will be my next headless.
I have the W-1 which is the tremolo model and I love it. However the pickups are a little fuzzy but after awhile it is something that doesn’t cross your mind. Overall it is a beautiful looking and sounding guitar, and I agree with this review 100%
I try to be honest. But sometimes companies don’t like that. Owell i rather help all of you guys out!
Thanks for the clear and honest review. Hate the folks talking everthing bad or super nice. This is a 300 bug guitar point. And it's ok that You get what You pay for. This was definetly not the case buying my Les Paul. I thought about buying an Eart on Amazon but the transportation costs to germany of 180€ killed this idea on the spot. So I might have to order a strandberg to check it out? The real thing for then twice of the overall costs of the cheapy. We'll see
Its completely different now if you check out the page you can see the modding process of it so far
Just got one a few days ago and its great! However, this is the only guitar I've bought that was actually tuned sharp out of the box, eg the low E was F# - weird. But it plays great and stays in tune just fine. Good job EART.
Thanks for the review!
My pleasure! im glad i bought one for sure. Would love to know more info on the specs that are a little unclear if thats possible ?
No problem hit me up on Instagram @eart.guitars dm me
I absolutely love the bridge design
I love that tune you're playing on the Eart guitar at the top of the review. Can you tell me what tuning that was you were using?
That was drop D!
CNC cut fretboards don’t need to saw all the way to the end so can put the frets in like a bound fretboard
I removed the top fret and raised the nut so I could put a heavier guage strings works like a charm.
I have a different brand guitar with the same KD bridge; I recently installed a 12-60 string set tuned to low B, and was surprised at how well it worked. The lowest 0.060 string was a little tight at the headstock, but nothing fatal. Adjusting it was fine once you get understand that you have to release the locking screw. I did have to do some work on the frets, several were high, but it’s better after some fret work.
Everyone hates on these bridges but its mostly user error i have 0 issues i did a whole mod series on this guitar and i love this thing
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR hey Kenny, if you're comparing the two tuner / bridge styles ( the Nk barrel style vs this one on the Eart) which one would you say, has better tuning stability, is easier to tune / change tunings and easier to lower the action? Thanks
@@allboutthemojo id say the barrel style is easier to tune and restring as far as tuning stability there both pretty good if set up correctly i have a video on the kd bridge also
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR thanks I'll look for it. What about setting action height on the 2 bridges ?
@@allboutthemojo its pretty close to the same process for both of then honestly
I'm #98 WooHoo! This guy is technically proficient & for that I'm thankful! Rock on and just know I'll always be watching exclamation point...
Thanks !
Really thinking of picking up one of these !!
I have two eart guitars one is fixed bridge and other is not. Worth the price for sure.
@@putontheseglasses8809 r the bridges a pain or not really the fixed one
Hi, thanks for the review, i'm looking at one of these right now on ebay, but there is another one i'm looking at and i see you have that other headless type behind you there with the green pickups - what is the difference between the bridge type on that guitar and the Eart style bridge?
I personally like the bridge on the NK. Which is the guitar behind me . You can get nk’s on eBay or Ali express although they take a long time to get . The eart bridge isn’t bad if set up correctly which i have a video on how to do so on my channel. Theres things i like on each headless more then the other if the eart had fan fret and the nk style bridge and tuners it would be amazing .
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR thanks for your response, i've taken it into consideration... yeah they take ages to ship, but for the price and features it may be worth the wait... cheers...
@@resonantsky keep an eye on reverb also join the NK facebook group will give u a great idea of peoples experiences i got mine second hand in mint condition so i got it quick
The frets are steel btw :))
And can you say how to set up the bridge well please? I am inexperienced in this area and I could use lots of help haha :)
Yes i know that now after talking with the owner ... theres a video on my channel on the basics of setting up the bridge
I have one and it's great. I just wish mine had the same top horn as yours. Mine is blocky. I recently got a real Strandberg which I love. The Eart is my second favorite. I installed a ZW set in the Eart and the back cavity is spacious so the battery had plenty of room.
Yea i think the new one has the more of a round top horn i got the pro version which has an updated bridge more like the strandberg i did a video on that one also
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR yep I watched a ton of videos on the eart including yours. After all the info I absorbed I felt comfortable buying it. Very happy with it. Thanks for the reply.
Easiest guitar to restring I've ever had and stays in tune.
I bought one a while back, not the best guitar out of the box. High action and fret buzzing was an issue, after a little setup it wasn't terrible.
Ive rarely came across a guitar at that price range that didn’t need some sort of set up out of the box .
Between this one and the Grote headless guitars, which one would you recommend? thx in advance
Well i cant speak for the grote but this is a quality headless for 309 you cant beat it . Aslong as the bridge is setup properly you will have no issues with tuning or set up. I just did a major overhaul on it 6 part series so far on my channel you may find it interesting .
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR ok,thanks a lot! If I get to buy the Eart headless guitar then I'm definetly going to check that 6 part series out! You got yourself a new subscriber, keep up with the good content!
Appreciate it any questions with anything guitar related or anything feel free to reach out
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR thanks!
Fun to play. Comfortable. Great neck. Beautiful to look at. Tough to work on. Pickups not so good.
So,I saw the Eart Amazon headless which you were speaking of.then right under that on Ebay theres a company named eart with the same font with the headless for 126 dollars? I assume that's someone else trying to sell even cheaper knock offs?
Same company sometimes they do auctions to try to push there guitars i guess lol
Impressive!
13:43 that chord progression is so beautiful! Is it from something or did you write it on the spot?
The chord progression sounds very similar to a logic song that our last night covered. It's a phone number. Check it out
Its a very simple and common progression, it sounds really nice because its lower tuning and he is using inversions. The structure is just IV - V - vi - I, then IV - V - vi again! In C major, you'd just play F G Am C, F G Am. Not to take away from the player, he did a great job!
What is the weight of the guitar?
Does it stay in tune? Thanks for the review, good luck with the mods
Thats one this i like about the bridge and everything else that attributes to the stability . It holds tune really well !
well i have one and i can’t make it stay in tune for 5 seconds, usually when i’m tuning, i go to the next string and the one before is already out of tune. Everything else is amazing on the guitar but i wish i could fix the tuning issue.
@@bassandfuzz - much appreciated ;-)
If you cant get it to stay in tune then change the strings and make sure you get the coil on the tuner wheel nice and tight and make sure the screws on the tuners are tight i have tuned it and let it sit for days and its still in tune. With that bridge its all how its set up will result in the tuning stability
If the bridge is set up properly it stays in tune ..
How's the neck thickness? Ibanez Jackson or gibson?
Id say ibanez ish great feel and fast being that its satin finish
I can see there is no provision for tremolo arm?
Theres a trem version
What would be your recommendation between this and the NK?
It comes down to patience , specs and budget honestly . For 300 the eart is awesome if your just getting into headless guitars and wanna try it out or have a mod platform also if you dont have patience to wait for an NK . If you want more of a spec headless or 7 string i would say get an NK . But i do know eart does do custom builds if you contact them. So basically it comes down to what you want cause quality is there in both for sure. I was lucky to find an Nk local . Also when it comes to the bridges i prefer the barrel style tuners on the nk but the bridge on the eart is solid once you set it up and figure out how it works it holds tune good. Is it your first healdess ?
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR Thanks for the info! And great vids btw. Yeah - first time looking at headless. Always been a fan of them, but until finding these 2 brands it wasn't really an option to buy one just to see. I much prefer the shape and finishes of the NKs, and have only heard good things considering the price, so just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be missing a trick with the EART if I went for NK.
Now just need to decide between trem and fixed!
@@revenski if your goin with eart get the fixed yea the trem looks cool but i do hear it has some tuning issues from mostly everyone that got that version yea it locks but then if it stays in tune locked then u mines well get the fixed im sure theres ways to adjust the trem version but do you wanna spend your time messing with it and tuning it or playing
How was the intonation? I've heard some of these the bridge isn't even in the right place
Mine was fine anyone i know that has one hasn’t had an issue i mean it needed a little adjustment when i changed string gauge and tuning but thats obvious it was perfectly in range of adjustment nothing was in the wrong place .. in sure theres a few bad eggs out there so .
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR someone is selling one local so I might take the plunge!
@@Caveira138 do it !! Worse comes to worse if ur not a fan u could easily sell it is it the w1 or w2 ones fixed bridge the orhers trem
I will wait till one company makes version that will sell for like 100$. Then it would be great value for traveling and not worrying if it gets busted or stolen...
I dont see that happening.... ive never seen a 100$ headless
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR Yesterday I found one for 198 dollars. So it’s coming down allready. We will see, would be great.
As for the string quality, you have to remember that those strings might be months old on that guitar already
Any of these Left handed ?
Don’t think so but if you contact them they might be able to do something custom
I wish it had trem bar
The w1 does
NK or Eart?
It all comes down to what your looking for like what type of bridge you want , how long you wanna wait to get it, do you want fan fret Stuff like that . quality’s there in both brands for the price. So just compare specs and go with what suits your wants more . I will note nk takes a longer time to get but you get a more speced out headless so it really just comes down to what you want
You can get a nice headless Harley Benton for low cost.
How about reviewing both head to head (pun intended).
Good idea i looked into the harley benton ive heard from some there having shipping issues but who knows just sucks having to pay the extra vat fees and stuff but time your done your payong 75$ for shipping plus vat fees plus the instrument
The HB doesn't have the ergonomic bodyshape. That's why i didn't even want to try it.
Is this what mcnasty was talking about
Why on earth Strandberg costs $2000 and this cost only $300?
Stranbergs using better woods and electronics and better hardware i mean still doesn’t justify the cost im sure theres a number of reasons why
Making a guitar with paid labor as opposed to slave labor is expensive
Welp guess I’ll be buying one of these. My wife will not be pleased
I wont tell
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR just wanted to say thanks again! Got the guitar in yesterday and having fun with it
Ear art?
Stands for Electro acoustic art
Its a project guitar!
Check out the 6 part series i did of just that !
I should have bought one a year ago before they changed the body style. God damnit.. =(
There still there just a little big differant shape. Same specs
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR I know I'm just not a fan of the new body style I really want that strandberg shape.

Beautiful but this bridge is a piece of s...
Can we just stop being amazed that China can make a decent guitar? Like, they have a space program now.
I don’t really care what country its from . Its a decent build either way
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR Yep, that's the point I was making.
I briefly had one of these... huge pile of dogshit. The only thing ok about the "guitar" was the body. The neck was horrible. The bridge is cheap Chinese pot metal, the pots are the cheapest I've seen... and the bridge pickup was micraphonic! Stay away!
Then why are you watching videos on youtube about it ?
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR I'm hear to warn others about this cheap guitar like object. The only reason I could see someone buying this turd is to mod the fuck out of it.
