BB2 works great in my area,I love it because the deer end up eating the soil too. It is expensive so I usually mix it with corn, roasted soy beans and pellets for my feeder. All of this equals higher protein. Corn is only 8-10% protein. If your using corn to attract and shoot a deer great,if your trying help the deer health and have bigger body mass and eventually with age a bigger rack you need more than just corn. Last winter I had my shoulder operated on,while recovering at home i noticed a group of bucks behind my neighbors house, probably 80-100 yards away. I decided to put out a camera in my back yard and feed. I put out corn and topped it with BB2. The 1st night I got 8 bucks and several does. Also ended up finding a shed about 10 yards from the spot. I also put out 50# of corn on the farm and 3 days later nothing had touched it, I was shocked 1st time I've ever seen that before. Put some BB2 on top of it and the next day it was gone. I think they work well together. It draws them in and they get a boost in protein and other nutrients.
I have the same results however when putting out a new set I put the BB2 on top of the corn. I have found that the deer find it the first night on a new location with the BB2 vs. just corn. The smell draws them into the corn. Works great for me and I would say that the deer prefer the texture of corn vs. ground up corn and that is why they eat it. If you notice in your video the larger pieces are picked out of the BB2. I however do not care if they eat it or not, only that they come in.
cant go wrong with corn, i put out corn in my feeders and also put out a few 50 pound bags of sweet feed/ all grain,. ever since i started using it i have noticed more deer in my area and the corn last a little longer too
I tried this same test twice. Once in January/February and once in July. End of January corn won. In July, the corn actually stayed out for over a week until it molded and the BB2 was eaten in 3 days.
I feel like this didn't really test the big selling point of BB2, which is that it is a long distance attractant. I feel the piles should have been put a good distance apart, not right together. Because maybe the BB2 is really good at drawing them in, but, if given a choice they just prefer the corn.
i find your comment funny cuz deer in my area wont touch corn but if use bb2 the whole pile gone in just 12 hrs. have to use bb3 the cube version to slow deer down so it last sum time.
Your all going to think im FN nuts, but im going to tell you the best deer bait going, miniature marshmallows. Before you go calling me a crazy fool, try it, then come back here and say thanks. The great thing about them is if you have a stand way back in, the mini marshmallows weight nothing. put 4 or 5 bags in your backpack and every time you leave your stand dump them out all over, not in a pile, an old timer taught me this and all i can say is you will never catch me without them.
I've been feeding big & J for 3 months now. The deer never eat all of it. Looked like your pile with no rain. Must be the moisture in the ground. Think I'll go back to corn. Thank you for doing this test.
Big tine 30-06 cherry rush blows them both out of the water. I get mainly daytime pictures of bucks on an everyday basis. Most days I get seven bucks at one time on camera
i cant get 20lbs to last 12 hrs they find i and just kill the pile switched to the block verson and get same amount of deer just takes um longer to eat it.
2:36 "But I guess there's not much money in it" BINGO! I use my own mineral mix (I do also use a commercial brand because one bag is easier to carry than 4 gallon jugs of my mix and I found one that works). I like to try a "new" commercial brand each year, just to see. Nice video!!
If you had 1 day to hunt state land and it’s a mile walk into thick stuff. Where your not familiar with or even knowing the travel routes.... which do you prefer? I’d take the less weight, considering your carrying bow and stand...also I’d take whatever smells stronger to bring them in
i use big tine 40 pound bag gives what deer need to grow and helps with keeping deer healthy also helps keep the herd healthy And it also helps with the bucks racks
Cracked corn molds easy too. Corn does attract but has nothing but sugars in it which does nothing for the deer. I say put something out to help the deer with calcium and other beneficial minerals!
had a lot of same results here in wv.tested corn in a hanging feeder against promos takeout.acorn rage and record rack block.they ate the corn out of the feeder and stomped the other stuff into the dirt and it's a month later and still laying there
Pre season i used Big n J along woth cracked corn as a mixture and where some plots were not being hit used just the big ive found just the opppsite though where our deer enjoy this blend and its not on the grouns long enough to mold as well as even with an early frost this year it did not mold, perhaps humidity could play into this and differemt regions?
I had terrible results with the B&J BB2 and the block as well. I also have mixed BB2 with corn in a broad cast feeder that resulted in mold growth inside the feeder. I did have great results from a peanut based nut grub recently. I would highly recommend trying a peanut based grub/bran product.
Great honest review! I have been wanting to try it but stayed away I figured corn would do the job. I remember when I first found out about sweet feed like for horses I think it's a bunch of grain with molasses in it I said it should attract deer like crazy I put out a 50 pound bag and it rained the next day I had the biggest mess.
Biggest issue is did BB&J attract the deer and the deer ate the corn? It's a bad test. You don't know what actually brought the deer in - just what they ate.
I am in north west Ohio. I know coon eat as much if not more than deer do. Did you try mixing them together? The Big and J can be the attractive, but the corn lasts longer.
I put corn out and then I use vanilla flavoring all around on the leaves. that attracts quicker the smell Cary down the trails through the woods they follow it right to it then you got him hooked on the smell do that several times with them together then when you want to go hunt you just put the vanilla flavoring out and they think Dinner Bell is rain but you're there
But you put them side by side and more field corn, now look at it this way per say the corn is something you eat a lot of like steak chicken pork and right next to it is BB2 think of BB2 as of your protein shake now essentially and might smell good , but will there be more of a outcome if mixed, like what we saw the deer came in but was it cause of the smell of BB2, that being said what if you ran 2 more test, 1 with them mixed and another test with them separated in different deer trail crossings.
I put out the BJ for 3 weeks, so the deer were used to it and were chowing it down gone every evening, then I put out a 40 lb bag of apple scented corn, they absolutely killed the corn in 2 nights. I will only put out the corn from now on
Had same results in Pennsylvania the big &j might smell really good to us the deer prefer plain corn. And the least amount of moisture hits in feeder spout and it gets moldy in a days time. Waste of money!
I wonder what a real deer biologist would say about feeding the deer or any wild animal. So many lazy people, so little hunters! The impact we have on wildlife just to bad a deer is so ignorant.
I found that the wildlife corn with ole nasty husk and makes youre hands all powdery white after you put it out works ten times better than the corn from say walmart and tractor supply...they eat it but it had to be eaither rained on or took a few nights before they would eat it on my property..they good nasty corn dont take no time or atleast thats my findings....hope that helps somebody...
@@jasonbuben7787 it really depends on where the trees are and how big of a crop there is. I've raked them up in a parking lot it was easy, I got a 35 gallon trash can full. It lasted 2 nights and they was all gone.
How do you know that the Big and J didn’t attract the deer to the regular corn? It seems you would need to set up 2 cameras at least 100 yards apart with corn at one and Big and J at the other to see if one is better than the other.
This is bs I been using bj for a while and I been getting a huge amount of deer on the property.Bj is my go to when the deer isn't showing up to my corn pile as they should.
Respectfully, have you looked at your results this way? The deer were “attracted” by the Big &J and when they got there they ate the biggest pile of feed which was he corn. And why didn’t you put out equal amounts? Though the corn was gone we can’t really say it wasn’t because they liked the corn more. It’s not the same consistency. I’ve used both and honestly i got mixed results. So either way i have to hand it to you by spending the cash to do the test. Again just a respectful observation.
that stuff is just no good just to tell it like it is ..iv found some stuff called 4sdraw check it out works very good bout to do a video on 4sdraw vs bio logic full draw..see how it turns out in a few days ..check ya later buddy subbed ..toppy
This is a terrible experimental design. First of all, this is a PROTEIN product, intended to boost body and antler growth, and milk production, during the spring and summer. It's not just a hunting attractant (e.g. bait). Secondly, placing bait or supplemental feed directly on the ground, as opposed to from some type of feeder, is always going to lead to more mold issues. Third, I'd bet the deer that were tested were well accustomed to eating corn, whereas the BB2 was a new food item. It's not uncommon for protein feeds to be eaten slowly when first introduced. This is why many managers mix protein foods with corn initially and slowly shift the mixture ratio to mostly protein, then entirely protein. Then, there is the lack of many aspects that make an appropriate study, such as repetition, controls, multiple study sites, separation of corn vs. BB2 feed sites to not confound the attract qualities of each, and repeated measures across time. In no way did this "experiment" test the effects of BB2 to improve body condition and antler growth at the herd scale.

gonna test in a video trail cam brother lol, always have em bc kids at cabin so hey why not
I'm going to try it. I'll holler back at you

Barrick Mane I have to agree with ya , that cherry rush brings in the bucks in the daylight
You just saved me some money, thank you very much

Have you tested it on bear? We went through 1400lbs of corn at our camp. NW Ontario.

Research clock stopper by deer:30 it's great stuff
I mix it with apple flavored corn and I’ll tell you the bucks love it. I had 6 different bucks on game cam, where I usually just have a bunch of does
Apple flavored corn? 🤔 Where can I find said Apple Flavored Corn?

What editing software was this made with? Great video!
This one was made using Final Cut Pro X. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!!

Same thing happened to me, the dust in big&j is reason the deer won't stay on it it cake's up in the mouths!
put grape cool aid on the corn and watch the difference. it out performed the cmere ddeer and acorn rage hands down
Chris Wrigley thanks for the info will have to try that out for sure, thank you for watching
Jello packets work too!
I should say Jello powder works well for flavoring/scenting mineral sites.
BigWrig Outdoors are you using the presweetened cool aid or the little packets of unsweetened?
I did see a difference in buck quality while using Big & J. Once they get use to it I had bigger quality bucks on my land
Saw on Instagram you guys got some more big and j you giving it another shot?
BowhunterJim Yes!! Going to try some fresher BB2 as well as some of their other products. Reviews to come soon!!

yep corn is the best no matter what
100% agree. Cant mess with perfection!!
I put this out in ain't seen a deer since crazy
Keep it
Deer on my land want eat the bb2 squirrels eat the corn but the rest turns into a fungus
corn is king
I guess if you have a lot of money to waste B &J is the way to go. They walked right by my pile to get to the corn.
I rake up acorns for free and use them for hunting. Deer will take acorns over corn
That must take a ton of time 😳

LMAO0O0O0 we have not tested the block, so we hope it does good for you, thanks for watching and best of luck
Well, they are eating the big block, don't have corn out yet though.
The block needs to be off the ground for it eventually not to mold. I made a wire table for it so it shouldn't mold now.

but it looks like they didn't even try the BBJ. clearly the corn was the winner.
And that's y wen the big pile was gone thay didn't tutch the other pil
