GRAPE KOOL-AID MIX CORN VS CORN FOR DEER! WHICH WILL WIN?

  • I poured 2 piles of deer corn out. In one pile, I poured grape kool-aid mix in it and in the other pile its just deer corn. Sorry about the thumbnail. I was having problems uploading it. All the deer that came in preferred the grape kool-aid corn over the regular. The SD card memory was full in 3 days so I didn't get to see what else came in. A 7 point buck came in about 6 different times and every time he ate the grape kool-aid pile. THE GRAPE KOOL-AID MIX CORN WINS! I hope you enjoyed the video and always LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE!

The issues Ive noticed with the kool aid trick is that, like all other additives that people add to corn piles is, if it gets rained on continually, the entire pile gets clumped and full of mold whereas the straight corn will not. Happened to me recently and once the pile gets ruined, the deer wanted nothing to do with it.

I used a product on corn last year called Corn Coat and it works great in my area. It’s a super -concentrated, corn sugar. Looks like powdered sugar and so strong that 4 ounces treats a 50 lb bag of corn, oats or whatever. The super sweet smell brings deer for miles and they preferred it 2-1 over regular corn. I’m using it again this year. Some have said it doesn’t work in their part of the country though. Hit or miss.

Firm believer of Cmere deer corn coat for my feeders. Start that out early before season and as winds change the smell gets out there and will 100% recruit bucks. I had a camera set up for a month and nada! Then found out about this stuff. Used it and a few weeks later I had 6 really decent shooter bucks on camera. Opening day took one of them that was 10 and measured 141. Love using corn coat in feeders.

@@TheCW284 it’s always worked for me. Corn Coat by C’mere Deer. It’s a real fine powder that smells like candy and coats the corn. Used in a broadcast feeder it will cause a cloud of dust when it goes off and that dust will hit the wind and start to coat leaves and trees all around your site. As winds change it helps recruit bucks as the pass by and travel around. It’s always been money for me. Everyone I told about has had good success with it too.

I feed the deer here at my house year round with different things. Corn and blocks most often along with an always present mineral block. They love anything sweet and will show preference to different offerings but they eat anything out there. Nothing changes their feeding patterns though. I also never see them gorging themselves on feed offered. They eat some and move on picking leaves and typical browsing as they leave. There are a lot of deer here and they move around in small groups. Most of the time I see them at the same times of the day or night. Same groups. They vary a little but not too much. Except at hunting season when they lay low during the day for a while, even though they aren't hunted here.

    • @HappyHermitt

I've seen bait disappear faster once most of the browse is gone. Same as you noticed, they nibble a bit and move on.

About twenty years ago an old friend of mine used to have a problem with raccoons, so he started trapping them in a live trap and letting them go in the mayor's yard. He'd let the raccoons go at the crack of dawn before the mayor woke up. Over a period of a couple of months he took over twenty raccoons over to her house. He used Cocoa Puffs for bait. I was surprised that Cocoa Puffs would work as raccoon bait. He said "When they get that sweet tooth going they can't resist Cocoa Puffs." I wonder if Cocoa Puffs would work as deer bait.

Plain slices of cheap white bread are hard to beat for deer bait but keeping it dry is the problem.

I seen this last year and tried it. We killed deer almost 3 to one using this method. I got deer coming in way after deer season on game to lick the ground!! Talkn bout koolaid crack addicts! Grape seems to be the best!

You should see what vanilla extract does to a pile. Seriously you will be surprised.

I've heard of that before and a lot of hunters said it works great! I'll have to try it.

At 3:15 I thought you had caught a bigfoot eye shine up in the tree. At the top of the screen there is some wide eye shine. After watching it several times I see that it is when the racoon is looking at the camera. So just a reflection.

I used to have candy machines on several stores years ago and there were times when tbe ants would go in them and when they were chocolate M&Ms instead of throwing them away I would spread them on the deer sendero and deer just loved them peanut butter chocolates m&ms that was crazy but they could only have them when I had to throw them away because they were expensive to feed them to deer .

I've seen people spread grape Kool-aid as a goose repellent too.

If deer have a choice they will eat sugar, but if they don't have a choice they will still eat the plain corn. Understanding that point, why feed deer processed sugar which is not good for their stomach or their teeth or overall health? It seems that the Kool-Aid method does unnecessary harm when the same objective would be accomplished by just putting out plain corn. Thoughts?

Your welcome and thanks for watching! He didn’t get anything out of it last year. My dad has taken a real nice one out of that stand, but it was a while ago.
