  • Decided to go with an aftermarket trans temp gauge instead of a cluster swap. Definitely happy how it came out

I would install a inline sensor on the out from the trans cooler line...your not getting a accurate temp...you would be surprised how much less that electric sensor is reading then the actual fluid temp leaving the trans...mine will say 160 on the ecm and its 180 fluid temp coming out of the trans...

i may end up doing this, i grabbed a cluster with trans temp thats supposedly plug and play and is i guess but my trans gauge doesn't work idk if its something with the 80e swap or just the cluster itself, i can read the temp in hptuners though so i know that works

Did this exactly step by step to my 2002 turbo silverado. Worked great. However, on a cold start the gauge reads around 120 degrees. I don’t understand how the tranny fluid could be 120 as soon as it starts after the truck has sat for a day ? What does your trans gauge read on a cold start

Also. How many qts of fluid did your 4l80e take with trans cooler and aftermarket converter?
