the fact that he is probably ABSOLUTELY shit faced on a minimum of 3 substances and spinning in the air that fast WHILE killing a 7 minute drum solo.. this man is a god
@Lucifer C yeah right, LOL.
@Lucifer C Like you know get the fuck out of here
If you're actually a drummer you'd know he's a very basic drummer.
Whats wrong with this devil pup thinking he could do it? And why do you think tommy lee is the only one that could do this?
@@heyitsbroski only a hating ass RUclips commenter would say this as if he isn’t a drummer for 40+ years, netting millions of dollars, in one of the biggest rock bands ever… but ya I’m sure your a great drummer too.
What's impressive is that he was able to do that while high as a kite and three sheets to the wind! Lol!
it's called talent
Three sheets to the wind....😂😂
And drunker then 10 Indians
It's motley crue if anything it makes them play better in some weird way
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ozzy Osbourne was so drunk he does not remember the entire 80s decade.
It wasn't just alcohol it was more so drugs. He fried his brain so much he doesn't remember anything. It's also why he can barely talk these days. Anyhow the dude is a Rock God!
There was a whole year, I believe it was around when they made sabbath bloody sabbath, that he took acid every day. He was just on another level
Randy Castillo was the second best drummer ever
He and Tommy are sure paying for it now! 💀☠
@Tooth andNail im not hating i just thought it was insane and pretty fucking legendary
As a drummer, I know the importamce of gravity when it comes to your playing. His playing upside down is just incredible.
i was thinking that too...working hard against gravity
Did you play drums on the space station?
@@se11459 there is no gravity there🙃 he is talking about how going againts gravity to hit your drums would be hard.
I am a drummer as well and I feel you have to have mad strength to it

Imagine the feeling. Being in a huge band, playing to an arena full of thousands of people, giving your all on the drums, probably hammered, coked up to the eyeballs and then doing a drum solo partly upside down and also spinning round and round... I would imagine that is a strange feeling.
Aweeee you broke
Very natural. Lmao
When you're so high that you can't remember if you already said "Tacoma,"...
Nope it’s a tour happen a lot
Also you copied people
And then he realizes hes in atlanta at the end. 😆
This proves Tommy Lee is a underrated drummer
I agree just totally wild
the 80's were way cooler than any other decade
Ya but I still like the 70s to
And in 30 years from now they’ll be saying the same thing about the present
sgtgiggles god I hope not .
In terms of music, it was probably the worst
@Rex Limiron Boy George, Wham, bands that wore heals and make-up, glam rock, etc. There was hardly any real creativity and/or intellectual lyrics for the whole decade. I'm on meth because you lack real taste???
A lot of haters on here. I was at the concert and this was the coolest thing at the time we had ever seen. All concerts had great drum solos but Crue kicked it up several notches with this one. Tommy may not be the best drummer from the 80's but he was one of the most entertaining.
Word! I went to the Portland ME show, and I was 8 years old. This solo inspired my little kid ass to play drums!! Best show ever!
no you wernt
@@DanRustle And how exactly do you know?
I grew up in the 80s this drum solo was one of the most talked about things on MTV for ages after Tommy did this
@@mariacherrington61920 Sure as shit was! Still badass!!
There is much more to this solo than you think. Mick had time to poop, Nicki found his mudvayne, and Vince test drove his new Pantera.

@-- you're completely wrong, offended? Really? Trust me, I'm old school till the day I die, I'm not generation 280ZZZZZZZZ that gets offended about everything. I just think as an adult using the term "poop" sounds extremely childish.

i actually saw this tour at Alpine valley Wi..Whitesnake opened...My jaw about freakin dropped when his drum kit start flippin around and him jammin his ass off...one of my best rock shows to this date...and im 44
Dude I was there too and for the filming of same ol' situation as well
I was there myself !
I saw them on this tour in Indianapolis, they filmed the "Wild Side" video at Market Square Arena. To this day, one of the best shows and the best crowds I've ever seen!
Was there too. Alpine rocked back in the day.
he might not have been shredding the drums but hes playing them damn good without skipping a beat. being able to hold your tempo on the drums is hard enough. doing it while spinning or whatever, that takes some talent
Writing a proper comment is also a talent, which you don't have.
I'm not sure what it means to shred the drums, but I also see no issues whatsoever with what Tommy played here.
His timing is out in many places. His fills are horridly sloppy.
Honestly, I think it was more fun for him to be on that rig than it was for the crowd to watch him on it.
It was NEVER about the "solo"......it was about the show DURING the solo.
It was about motherf*ckin Tacooooooooooma!
Machine gun kelly killed the role of young tommy in the dirt
I just watched it last night. I really enjoyed it
He played Vince Neil.

That movie progressed way too fast at the beginning IMO

It's literally impossible to be this good while you are spinning in the air. Tommy Lee absolutely in the top 5
No, he's not, but I would definitely put him above the likes of Lars Ulrich.

Tommy lived the best life of anyone in history.
As a drummer, I can tell you that Tommy Lee is great at his craft. He may not have super rare chops but he's a fucking SOLID drummer with a cool sound and dead-nuts tempo. Making it sound like he does is much harder than anyone may think.
This is the most talking I've ever heard during a drum solo
Because he can't play worth shit.

The 80's were a blast !!!! By far a KICK-ASS decade ! 🤘
I remember this tour I saw this concert when was 22 years old in NY Tommy drank a whole bottle of Jack while his drums and he were spinning 360
He was a total Showman. People would go to Motley concerts because of his drumming and style
it's 2023, and you'll never hear those drums sounds on radio again.
I seen this live at Joe Louis Arena in 1987 at 15 years old.
I want to say Girls Girls Girls tour. Tommy took a long pull off a bottle of Jack and got busy. What a show...
I liked how back in the day when Tommy Lee did a drum solo it actually sounded like he played the drums, rather than today with all that dubstep crap that he does which sounds like a drugged out arcade machine with a bad case of diarrhea.
Yeah man.
I hate all the dubstep drums in today's hard rock and metal too.
HEY TACOMA
I was in Terre Haute, IN AND a few months later in Evansville, IN and saw this exact tour and Tommy do this exact solo. Ive been in love with Tommy Lee since the Shout at the devil tour before this one and I'll always say he's an amazing amazing drummer!!! Give me tommy Lee on the drums any day over any other famous drummer! No body and I mean no body can top this man at showmanship, innovation and just downright groove ❤️❤️
This guy was so underrated. And deservedly so goddammit.
He definitely want underrated. He’s like one of the most credited drummers of his time. But I get what you’re saying. He was something else
Deservedly underrated? You kinda lost me there
If it was intentional that's the most clever backhanded compliment I've ever heard
@@Steve-dv4hy I thought the exact same thing
He sucks tf?
Tommy Lee is a good drummer and I love his low kicks. His double bass is great. But the real amazing part of this video is the roadies that set that up every night.
I was 7 years old at this show in the 5th row. It was crazy fun and so awesome to see this footage.
I didn't know Tacoma was so great. But, Tommy loves it. Could be the Crack.
I was at this concert tour in Cleveland, There was no Crack in 87. It was marijuana....cocaine and booze. Crack and all that other poison,,,meth and heroine didnt come on scene until 2000s. I lived it...my ex started doing crack...left him....2000s
"The biggest surge in the use of the drug occurred during the “crack epidemic,” between 1984 and 1990, when the drug spread across American cities. The crack epidemic dramatically increased the number of Americans addicted to cocaine. In 1985, the number of people who admitted using cocaine on a routine basis increased from 4.2 million to 5.8 million"

Tacoma is a shithole and always has been. Thats what makes this video so fucking funny
Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
have you heard of nikki sixx's antics in the 80's ?
All these haters smh. This man did AMAZING
Wow memories. I saw this tour back in the late 80's at miami arena. When he did this spinning. Drum kit thing ,we all went crazy. Then they pkayed a song. While he was spinning , it was. Awrsome.
"Dreams do come true unless you Shout at the Devil." I saw the Crue on this tour the same month, October 1987, at the Long Beach Sports Arena.
Respect for Tommy Lee using an all acoustic kit in 1987.
The Very Best Part In A Crue Concert. Tommy's Drum Solo. 👏👏👌👌👍👍🤘🤘🥁
First time he went in a circle he just did paradiddles around the toms. Second time he did a long roll. True marching band drummer.
I was born in the early 90s and never got the opportunity to see something like this. In fact, I still haven't and unfortunately I don't think I ever will. That being said, even with my (working on it) low attention span and even while intoxicated, this video always makes me smile and is ironically inspirational. I'm not a drummer but I feel like his passion can be applied to anything
Was at this tour....Tommy Lee came right in front of us...we were on second row...first level up...had perfect view...directly in front of us
What city was this filmed in?

Insane concert. We knew then we were seeing something awesome.....but dam!
since people on here say he sucks at drumming. Hw come your not a famous drummer? please show us all how good you are.
aha All I know is that I wanted to be up there doing that when I was 17. Bash the guy all you want .... he made millions doing this shit and I didn't! Good for him!
aha that was a stupid comment. Fame doesn't make someone good, moron. His band got famous. They could have replaced him with a better drummer and still got famous.
I was a better drummer than him by my senior year in high school. And now, years later, I am light years better than him. There are better guitarists and drummers across the country playing in clubs. But I bet you thought that reasoning was smart, huh? It wasn't.
Those who say he sucks will probably ruined all mortley crue songs with double bass pedal for the entire songs.
Homes though your comment is true. with kids in the club maybe being better..nobody is in competition with anyone, and all the drummers dig T.We all grew up jamming his shit! T is a great guy and though his music doesn't reflect more than a "feel-good groove thing" T is a very fucking good drummer. Just go listen to the album with John Corabi on it and check out some of what T was doing on that album. Offbeat signatures, triplet rolls flavoured with offbeat bass drum rudiments tossed in...Tommy can get very interesting if you let him. That's a great fucking drum album...that many just have no clue about sadly.
Homes doubt your any good
He is nailing those triplets. When you can do this as a drummer it’s a tale tale sign you are a drum master.
I saw this tour at the Capital Centre Largo Maryland. It was a great show. Whitesnake opened and they were awesome too.
I wish I could have seen this live 😎👍
Skills ..haters don't watch his videos then..great drummer& MArried 2 of the blondes that other men wish they could even see in person!! #team TommyLee
Is not about hate, he really sucks.
I was so elevated on UFO Cid in OKC during this show. This was by far the coolest thing they did.
this is awesome seen him do this at concert when i was 12.
Not really a fan of Motley Crüe but I can appreciate what the band has to offer. Tommy Lee is a beast on the drums.
There is a lot of hate on this thread! But anyway, no matter his skill or his personality. I saw this concert live at Alpine Valley and it was all about the experience, by today's standards maybe not so great, but back then, this was most amazing and rad! This show rocked and for him to be up there spinning about rocking out and not passing out or puking was a feat in itself. These guys knew how to put on a hell of a show and it was pure fun, one of my best concert experiences.
I remember seeing this in the 80's in Tucson az. Awesome
What a beautiful kit ❤
I went to this concert, but had to sell my ticket. It was sold out, and my buddy didn't have a ticket. We asked around, and they were going for $50. A kid from Yakama didn't have one so I sold mine for $40. That way he didn't have to sit by himself outside. I wished we could of seen it, because I really wanted to see this solo!
+David Regan So you DIDN'T go to this concert.
Nope! It was a sold out show, and didn't stick around to hear one guitar.
Imagine Neil Peart doing a drum solo like this. Spinning around and over cussing lol
Peart didn’t have time for bullshit. His kit did spin around ,but it had purpose . Light years above Tommy Lee. I always thought Lee was an overrated buffoon. I’ve seen both bands ,so I can say this. RUSH never wasted my money ,even 40 years later. Too bad Motley Crue never knows when to quit and keep ripping off fans .
Happy 59th Birthday Tommy Lee & Thanks for the drinks 😁
Thanks tommy Lee for the spinning drumkit 😊❤
I wish Tommy would cuss more, said no one ever...
Love it, lol
But he had this motherf*cking dream he had to tell Tacooooooma about
Out of all Tommy's drum stunts, this is still my favorite one.
i witnessed this solo in Mobile, Al 1987.......still remember it!
Estanislado Vargas I know this duh....this was his solo for the entire tour!!! including Mobile AL.....
Estanislado Vargas this was not a one time thing
Good old days:-)- I went to see them on this tour and it was LOUD..
my statement to anyone bashing this solo is this... could you play upside down, 30 feet in the air, all while in front of 20,000 people??
With boxing gloves on
+James Cutler Think about the mechanics of what happens when you are inverted and the motion of hitting the drum. Pretty wild stuff; I wish I could try it! I remember reading at the time this tour was in progress (yeah I'm old!) that he had bicycle tow clips on his bass drum pedals to keep his feet anchored to them when he was upside down. As for the solo, what else can you play for an arena of screaming fans other than some loud open figures? Good for him!
u said it all man!!!!!
And spinning around very quickly while nursing a hangover from the night before, AND after just chugging half a fifth of whiskey. I mean it's fairly impressive on its own, but when you add in the fact that they were all hardcore drug abusing alcoholic train wrecks, then it becomes impressive.
James Cutler ....yes I could.... but I'm not knocking his solo. He's always been a tasteful drummer.
It goes to show that gravity can be underestimated by Tommy Lee.
the Girls Tour had an awesome beginning too. The opening of the show was pretty sweet.
I was there🤘🤘🤘
The only drummer that plays drums upside down. A true drummer and a excellent musician. We will definitely miss you Tommy.
+Rabindra Ramjattan LOL! That's hilarious!! Oh, wait. You weren't trying to be funny?
And joey jordinson
Technical ability? Mediocre. Showmanship? Top notch.
Where’s your drum video?
He's better than I thought lol
I think thats not as easy as you think to play drum as him in his state: upside down, dancing right and left and being drunk and high
Let us know when you have you're video out, performing in front of thousands of people, playing triplets that fast and upside down, whilst half cut.
Oh cool, lets see your solo.
Seen this in person in Knoxville Tennessee in 1987 bad ass
I saw the Crüe live - January 25, 1986 - Rudi-Sedlmayer Arena, Munich Germany.
Sweet 17 back then. ;))
I fuckin love this motherfuckers 4life baby.
Imagine lars on this machine

It would be a right mess!!
Great drummer, excellent time keeper limited in rudimentary and technical skill but he’s a self taught drummer and a successful person. If you can’t solo why not just spin?
Learn the definition of rudimentary, you ass-hat.
I wish every drum solo was this short
Damn. I miss that time !
i had front row at this concert in Dallas Texas, and his drum kit was directly above me as it was spinning.
