Want to take off like a rocket ship? Mike shows you how in his B8.5 S4.
From the factory it is good for a sub ~5 0-60 time. Авто/Мото
I have a B8.5. If you want extra power, press and hold the traction control for 10 seconds and make sure cruise control is off. Without any mods wait until RPM hold at 3k then release brake. My B8.5 is tuned with APR Ultracharger (Stage3), APR dual pulley, ECS Cooler, ECS valved exhaust x pipe with resonator delete and 4 inch pipes. I wait until RPMs hold at 4K. The car was a beast before but it’s a complete savage now.
Sounds like a fun setup!
A 2013 is a b8.5 goofy
Just got me a s4 same year can’t wait to try this
Let us know what you think!
I found that it goes even faster if you hold the traction control button for about 10sec to completely disable the ESC. About 8.8 in 1/8 mile vs 8.5 w ESC off
Nice!
So under dynamic mode and traction control off, just push acceleration pedal down to the floor and it will automatically control the rpm to around 3000?
As long as the brake is fully depressed and the transmission is in Sport mode. This might be B8.5 specific.
I’ve got a b8 and can’t figure out how to even switch modes
I own a B7 S4 Avant with the V8.
Is my car able to do this as well?
I thought I had some sort of way to do this which is why I found this video.
I can turn traction control off and I can put it into sport mode but I have the
tiptronic transmission instead of a manual.
Sorry, I know of this video being applicable to the B8/8.5 S4. Not sure if your car has that.
What if you don’t have the Drive select feature ? Don’t have the option of putting it in dynamic, comfort , etc . Does it still work with just turning off traction control and putting it in sport mode ?
All S4 should have this option.
My father has a 2015 a4 sport Edition plus or competition edition and it has it Standard you have to turn off stop start and turn of hold assist and then it launches and is a 2.0 prototype diesel
Thanks for sharing!
Kind of off topic and im late to the party on this video, but how did you get the range for your gas below the mph? Mine always shows the average speed of the trip
You can cycle thru the information in the center display using the steering wheel.
I bought an used a4 3.0 tfsi 272cv versión year 2013. I have the stronic and the esc button so my car display the same Messenger of i turno it off it goes "warning sport mode activated"do you think i can do this? Will it be dangerous for my car? Even of the rpm doesnt set automatic can i do it on my own?
Not sure, I can't speak for the non-S4 models since we never tried it on one.
I heard that you cant do launch control and shift with the paddle shifters? Is it true?
false that wouldn’t make any sense
That's entirely false.
Very helpful video. Does this work with the B8 S5?
I am not sure on that model.
B8 Owner here. They mailed a "missing page" from the manual to the owners about this. Turn DSC level one off (tap the DSC button once as in the video) and be in Dynamic mode. Then mash brake, then floor throttle. Engine will settle around 3K as shown. Let off the brake for the launch. Note, if you plan to use this to race other cars, it's NOT exactly instantaneous. Leave about an 8th of a second gap if you want to launch at the exact time as the guy you're racing.
Hey man I’m just now seeing this video and I’m trying to figure out how to set what rpm I launch at ive looked everywhere
I own a 2012 b8 s4
Does your vehicle have factory launch control?
How big is the fuel tank? Im looking forward to purchasing an S4 and i can see from the video you got half a tank with 175miles left
+Big Moe it's a 16.1 gallon tank and you'll be lucky to see over 20 MPG based on my experience lol.
The estimated range is very optimistic on these cars.
I drive my B8.5 S4 very sedated, and I get about 25-26 mpg.
You forgot to mention you have to be in dynamic mode.
+L BC correct this will not work unless you're in dynamic mode.
This works in cars that do not have dynamic drive modes. My s4 is a 6mt and does not have drive select and this process works just the same.
Does not have to be in Dynamic Mode. I run in Sport and choose comfort mode.
@@jgrandison2004 Idk if my car have these options to change from comfort to dynamic, how can I sse if my car have it or not?
Right through the MMI screen.
Do you need any upgrades to the engine ?? Would it do anything bad to your transmission
The car will be fine as long as it is up to temp and you don't do this every day.
Is it standard on all cars or do I have to request the dealer ship to unlock the feature?
Should be standard on B8.5 S4's !
Does it work with the 8 speed tiptronic transmission
I cannot confirm this. Would be worth trying the procedure to see what happens.
Hi, i was able to launch my b8.5 audi S4 but one week ago my S4 just stop launching at 4000 rpm it’s launching at 1.5 i don’t know why
Are you sure it is in sport mode with ESC off? If it is and it still isn't working, you may have hit the vehicle max launch count of 200. Getting the vehicle tuned would remove this.
Will this work without having drive select? I’m looking into buying an S4 but his does not have drive select sadly?
This should work on any DSG equipped B8.5 S4.
How is the car without drive select? I drove an s4 with drive select and it was awesome but I found a killer deal on an s4 without drive select
It should still have launch control if it's a B8.5 S4.
I have a 2011 audi a3 S line and when i smash the throttle with launch control, i get way too much wheel spin. But if i give to little throttle it just bogs down. Any suggestions or does it just take practice? Cuz i deadass got jumpstarted by my friend in a Mitsubishi galant lol.
Sounds like your awd isn't working or you've got some bad tires. Does the S line have launch control?
@@FocusedGarage i actually just got some new Pirelli tires because i got a nail. But my a3 is front wheel drive. Im think it has launch control because when its in Sport and traction control off i can put my foot on the brake and hit the gas and it the rpm stays around 3200rpm for about 6 or 7 sec.
@@Nani-du9ym bruh, you've got front wheel drive, why you tryna launch
@@vetlea1087 why not? Lol. I think i need a driver mod oof.
@@Nani-du9ym A fwd car is always gonna spin if you step on it, you just have to find the rpm sweetspot where it won't spin too much.
Back when I had a fwd A5, I found that to be between 2000-2500 revs on dry tarmac 🤔
Sadly we cant do launch control in Audi SQ7 2018 , we did all of the steps , btw in audi a3 2017 works just perfectly.
Just picked up another VW/Audi product myself and it does have launch control! Expect a video soon!
Hey i got a s4 too and i dont got that traction control button????
What model year?
Would a mother who doesn’t drive fast be comfortable and not disturbed by the exhaust in this car? My dad is looking at this car but my mom has to drive it too. Would it be way to sporty and uncomfortable for a mom to drive?
When driven like a normal person, this car is totally civilized. The trans shifts smooth, the exhaust is quiet, and it's very easy to manuever.
Focused Garage
Exactly, and well put.!
It will make her a better driver; that’s how civilized these Audi’s are.
Nice, does this also work this way on the 2006 model S4 B7
Not sure. This may be specific to DSG equipped cars.
I have SQ5 2015... I can't do lunch control. I tried all the steps. Why is that? Dynamic mode...S shift...ecs off...
Break all the way down... and when I push the gas pedal the rpm goes to around 2500rpm but the car wants to move... I feel that the brake holds the car... it is not lunch control it is just break and gas regular. What is the reason????
Perhaps the car is still on its stock tune and has already reached its max amount of launches as limited by the ECU, 200.
@@FocusedGarage come onnn... are you serious???????? There is thing like that?
How about the A7 ? It works for it ?
This may be an S-specific feature.
Does it work with the audi rs4 b8 2013???
I am not entirely sure. You could give it a shot and see.
Yes it does
will it work on audi a4 dynamic mode ?
I believe launch control is S4 specific.
I believe 2017 -18 a4 has a launch control...
Not sure, I can't confirm that or not.
For B8 and B8.5 I don’t believe the A4 has launch control. Car isn’t made for performance at all unlike the S4
Hi I wanted to try this launch with my 2014 S4..... Is it safe?
+yoshi1015 yoshidiman factory will let you do it 200 times I believe lol. It may cause very minor gearbox wear, but nothing I'd worry about as Audi put this feature here from the factory.
ok thanks ..... i tried it but when i step on the brake and accelerator it tries to lunge the car forward so i cant get to 3k rpm with it feeling like im going to hurt something
Yes super stable and easy
on your 2014 audi s4, put the car into dynamic mode. Press and hold the traction control button for about 5 seconds till it said ECS OFF (not sport), put your shifter into the S position. then press the brake as hard as you can, and then the gas as hard as you can and then let go of the break.
I got a 2015 A4 Quattro. Pretty much same as the s4 without the engine and badging. Does mine have launch control. ?
I'm pretty sure it's an S exclusive thing but not sure.
If u have a rev limiter than ya
@@FocusedGarage I swear my 2005 Audi a8l had one.
Maybe, haven't tried haha
Focused Garage one more thing. Where did you get the Duck lip spoiler for your car. I want to get one for mine.
Do you have to be in park ?
To change the settings? No you don't.
Is it true that the driver has a full 5 sec of letting it rev?
Yea it can hold the revs for a few seconds before it disengages.
@@FocusedGarage so after 5 sec it disengages? You can tell I'm a new RS5 owner 😉
You'll have to restart the sequence.
Congrats on the purchase!
How about manuals?
I believe there is no launch control for the manual trans. I could be wrong, but am relatively sure.
My S5 b8.5 doesn't have drive select hence why I can't launch it(?)
Is your car manual or automatic ?
@@FocusedGarage nvm, I uhmm figured it out Xd. Just gonna step on the gas a lil abrupt.
About manual transmission
You are the launch control !
is this a V6 or a V8?
Supercharged V6
You like this thing? thinking about it for my daily
Absolutely a great car. Very reliable too for a "luxury" car.
Is this standard or mapped?
This is on the standard factory tune.
@@FocusedGarage nice, looks very quick
Thanks, the car was a lot of fun.
this cant be the s tronic version right, shifts seem way too slow
This is the model with the dual clutch transmission.
About 5.4-5.5 0-60 i get 4.5-4.6 with my b8.5 s4 with no launch
Thanks for sharing!
Will doing this affect my transmission life ?
Since the car has it from the factory I would say no.
@@FocusedGarage sweet lol
I wouldn't worry much! Haha
Is it safe to do it ?
If it wasn't safe they wouldn't have put that in the car. Also if you do it every single light on every single day, I am sure you will wear out components faster than regular use.
Exactly what Onder said. It's safe to use, but prolonged use will take its toll.
Focused Garage if it’s not safe to go 100 mph plus then they wouldn’t have made cars capable of doing that 🤷🏽♂️
i did this in my dads s5
How was it?
@@FocusedGarage no answer ... his father probably found it out haha
Hahaha
@@FocusedGarage thx by the way for the video tried it today with my s5 work perfectly haha
DSG gear box??? thats new :) i mean old hahahahaah
It's a great transmission, haha.
Nuke 'em by Datsik. Nice.
A throwback at this point haha.
@@FocusedGarage Just picked up a B8.5 S4 and holy shit is this thing fun to drive. I had a B6 A4 and a B8 Avant but god damn...I miss the wagon but this is a whole different beast.
Congrats on the purchase!
Idk why it seems like i can launch my audi A5 3.0 TDI Manual, much quicker than this :-?
+Alex dinu not sure. What's the factory 0-60 time?
Focused Garage Stock at 240hp and 500nm, 5.9 sec.
Stage 1 at 280-290hp and 600-640nm 4.8
But the feeling when going off its like a rocket due the high torque.
The interior looks dated on such a late car as this 2013. I am bit surpriced I must say. My Audi A6 is from the same year but the interior is on a whole nother level with dual.. highres-screens and more futuristic dashboard. Im thinking about buying a 2008-2010 S4 and compared with this car, that makes those earlier models look pretty attractive.
Zamsonite B Keep in mind the B8 interior ran from 2008-2016, during that time period a lot of advancement had been made in design and quality. That's why the A4 was refreshed a couple years ago.
I think the A4 got stuck with the "old look" way to long.. My first Audi was a TT 180hp from 1999 and to be honest with you this interior was not far from that look. If one want's to buy any RS or S models from 2006-2012..getting a older looking dashboard-stick-steering wheel is something that must be totally overlooked. My A6 (4G) came out 2011 and my model is a 2013 and that was 5 years ago and it still looks very up to date. I wish they would have done the same interior changes on the A4, especially on the S4 and RS4 models atleast the same time as when my A6 was released.
