I tell them, I'll send them 3 boards which cost $1500 each, and a sensor that cost $300. Told them to try the sensor first. Told them to pay for one of the boards, and that I'd refund if the sensor was the fix. I next day aired the parts. 2 weeks later I get a text that the $300 part fixed it. 2 months later they text me, "Totally forgot about returning the boards, can you confirm your address?" I give them the address. 7 months later I get another text, "OMG, I just found the boards sitting here. I'll send them" 5 days later I get a tracking number and they arrive the next day. I've seen too many slimy companies like this. If they get paid in full, they walk away and never come back. Always have a clearly worded contract and scope of work in writing. Only pay for materials delivered and labor after it's done and signed off on. If they want to be paid in advance move on to somebody else.
This is a crappy situation, but that's not how it works. Do you ever work for free? I have bills to pay so I can't work for free. There are just as many, if not more, clients that would take advantage of that free labor and stiff the contractor. Once materials are installed, it's the property of the homeowner, regardless of who installed it. This means that a contractor would then need to go through the drawn out process of small claims court just to get potentially a fraction of what they're owed. All the while impacting their livelihood and ability to pay their own bills. My contracts clearly outline the payment schedule so the customer knows exactly what they're getting in labor and materials for each payment. There are also tangible benchmarks during a project that indicate when I need the next payment. All of my payments will include my own labor for the duration of time from one payment to the next. On larger jobs, some of those benchmarks can be months apart. No one is working for free for that long. It's simply a matter of reputation and communication. Don't hire the cheapest bid and read your contracts closely.

Paul, I don't know how you do it, after taking on a "small" fix it deck repair that has turned into a huge 500 sq foot remove/replace/rebuild/spend lots of money I seem to remember this being MUCH easier at 25 years old.
The black bathroom tile is outstanding. Excellent vision how you did that design. I watch all the construction plumbing electrical channels and stud pack is at the top of my list. The three of you make a great team.
I've watched you guys since before starting on Jordon's garage. This whole series on Jordon's property has yielded a bunch of great content for your channel. What I'm most looking fwd to is when Jordon officially moves into the garage, and then we can see the house demo.
As someone who lives in the DFW area, I was really leaning towards using the company from Ft Worth to redo my shower as part of an upcoming bathroom renovation. The fact they ghosted you makes me prefer to go with old fashioned tile rather than with those guys. Really disappointing a company who won’t stand behind their work. I realize they weren’t the installation crew but it was their name all over it. They should have at least tried to make it right or at least return your call.
See! its already costing them! I sent them an email and told them that very thing along with their integrity being damaged! Reputation and word of mouth in the construction business is everything! A bad reputation spreads out faster than you think as well!
@@disqusrubbish5467 Whether they were in-house or sub-contracted the company is ultimately responsible for them, since they hired them. Their ghosting Studpack over it speaks to a lack of care about the quality of the work.
Paul, your work on those tiles is impeccable. Jordan you picked out an amazing pattern !....It looks like a ton of cubes all over the wall ! So Cool, Rad, you're a pure stallion too !
Love hou the bathroom is coming together. But I cant help but see that single pointy tile on the left. The whole edge is basically isometric cubes, only that single tile isn't. I would put a single tile 'horizontaly' to finish the 'cube', just for OCD sake 😅. But keep up the good work! I love how you keep the balance between perfectionism and good is good enough.

I wish I had half of his knowledge. Man he is good. Whatever he’s doing he’s already a step ahead in his mind. Great work guys. Wish I had someone like this to pass his knowledge on to when I was younger.
That is really such a shame that company ignored you after the tour and everything. You should try to get in touch with the owner. Or tell a news company. If they're going to do that to you knowing their work will be broadcasted in front of hundreds of thousands of people.. Imagine what they do to the average joe. Put that company on blast. So much money involved in this, it's not right. You really need to do it not just because it feels good to out them, but to protect others from falling under similar circumstances as well. What they did is just plain wrong. Period.
If I remember correctly, although there were many things wrong with the installation of the shower, I believe the biggest issue were the misfits along the ceiling line. How about a small marble crown molding to match the porcelain tile, or maybe even in a white marble or quartz? Looks classy, and all the gaps go bye-bye. And if the vertical corners are an issue, you could marbleize some quarter-round to match the tile, and then coat it with epoxy. Once again, it's Gaps-Be-Gone.
I had some similar suggestions that I posted! They may not have seen my comments! I figured out how they could fix all the screw ups in that shower and it would look like it was planned that way which is important! Ive been doing tile for over 30 yrs! I can fix anything when it comes to tile no problem what so ever!
What a great job on the tile, I look at the pattern and see steps like in the old video game Qbert. Smart decision on the shower walls, get some value out of using the room as it is, if it was the main house then it may be a different outcome. You all are doing a great job on this house!
Guys, that tile looks AWESOME! What a cool layout, I'm impressed by the creativity! Good choice on the shower, way to expensive and time-consuming to redo it all, so sad that the company never came back to make it good, guess they'll just take the PR hit. What a shame. But being the pros you are you can make it look near perfect and hide the errors. Keep up the great work, I've been chomping at the bit waiting for this installment.
Glad you made it through Beryl. It passed through my area on Sunday I think and I was sick so I slept through most of it. I was shocked that our power didn't even go out. Glad to see that Jordan's power stayed on. I'm guessing the company that installed the porcelain walls is not the same company that fabricated the walls? Maybe let the installation company know you intend to file a complaint with the BBB for their shoddy work, unprofessional behavior, and lack of response. That tends to get them to call you back. If you paid for the install maybe you can at least get a partial refund. It sucks when things don't go to plan but sometimes you have to live with it. There were some mistakes on my bathroom reno but I made do with it and am not bothered by the imperfections. Have you considered putting the tile around the perimeter of the mirror or just under the edge but not under the entire mirror? Leaving a little space between the side of the vanity and the wall also gives a little more elbow room when using the lavatory. Ooh, the tile has a sort of 3D cube illusion now that its grouted. That looks neat!
I cannot believe they just ghosted you. Like the worst possible move to make at that point was to play it that way.

Maybe he was just making fun of Obama and the joke went over your head?
I agree with leaving it. What a snowball effect you would have if you would start to remedy the tile situation. In the long run, who will be looking at that when everything else will be taking center stage.
Love your channel and keep up the good work.
its great to be part of the journey.. i remember when it was just a dirt yard... whats crazy is the 1st thing i saw on your channel was a bathroom job.. so its kinda cool seeing it again
I didn't get a studpack video in such a long time, it felt like eternity. I almost forgot what universe i was in... Glad to see you guys back in action! Definitely looking forward for the bathroom tiling tear down video, and the rise of a perfect tiling video after that.
You guys are literally the best yt channel for building things. Not only do you share your family moments, but you explain everything. Learning so much from you. ❤
That tile is absolutely beautiful! Your father is a master at this work. I cannot wait for more video. God bless. I was concerned about the weather there for you. Happy everyone is fine. COME ON. WHERES THE NEXT VIDEO?
That tilework looks fantastic, I WANT IT! Thanks for the video, guys!
Jordan and Rad, I hope you both know the national treasure you have in Dad! OMG but you two are amazing too to have his back like he has yours! The only video worth watching for all his tips and tricks. Glad you all side stepped Beryl too. See you on the next one❤
Awesome bathroom tiles, makes me think of Qbert, the video game, awesome work, you kids rock.
Great tile selection, sweet.
cheers
I've watched you guys since before starting on Jordon's garage. This whole series on Jordon's property has yielded a bunch of great content for your channel. What I'm most looking fwd to is when Jordon officially moves into the garage, and then we can see the house demo.
What was the name of the company that you purchased the porcelain shower from? I want to make sure I never do business with them.
Elevation Stone in DFW area
Pretty sure they said the installers were in house.
@@disqusrubbish5467 Whether they were in-house or sub-contracted the company is ultimately responsible for them, since they hired them. Their ghosting Studpack over it speaks to a lack of care about the quality of the work.
Tile looks awesome, 3-D effect! I remember "Qbert", played it on my Commodore 64 back in the day!
You guys are too awesome ! Love watching you work !😊
This video reminds me of the old days with you guys. Your work and production is still the best.
Paul, your work on those tiles is impeccable. Jordan you picked out an amazing pattern !....It looks like a ton of cubes all over the wall ! So Cool, Rad, you're a pure stallion too !
Great News. Glad you guys survived. This is almost a live show.
Equipe is pronounced "eh-qui-pey", which is Latin for "I totally didn't just make that up".
Tough call but a good one I think. Sometimes you have to compromise in your own best interest. Keep up the good work!
You guys are the absolute BEST !!!
Holy crap if they treat basically celebrities that way can you imagine how they treat regular folks like us. What a crappy company.
That bathroom looks awesome and your attention to detail is amazing. Glad you survived Beryl!!
I would love to see a more in-depth video on "simply" moving up that ductwork in the wall. You guys do awesome work. Thank you so much.
That parallelogram / diamond black tile is very cool! Good choice Jordan!
In Spanish, "equipe" is a command to equip.
Now that you're in Texas, time to work on your Spanish. :) We're all Texicans.
For some reason I’m in the mood to play Q*bert
Glad I'm not the only one that thought Qbert!
That's for us old school gamers!! ✌😉
Took the thought right out of my head.
Came to say that, you beat me to it 😂😅
Drop a Coily in the toilet.
Great to watch quality work being done!
That Q-Bert wall looks spectacular, guys. Well done
I was thinking about y’all here in Lower Alabama while Beryl made landfall. Specifically I was thinking about those huge walls. good to see it’s still upright.
Folks, your writing, presentation, and editing skills just continue to get better. Sometimes your content isn't super interesting to me (not often!), but it's *always* engaging, entertaining, and most of all, packed with information. The effort you all are putting in really shows. Thank you!
Glad you are safe guys. Great video as always.
Glad to see you guys are safe! 🎉🎉
Can’t wait to see you guys with the Perkins boys!! You guys nailed those tiles!
Time for the "name and shame" part of our show, folks.
They did name them when they toured the factory
Elevation Stone in Fort Worth
@@ncootywere they the suppliers or installers though?
@@locke3141the installers were third party I believe
@@locke3141 Yeah Im not sure how closely connected elevation stone is to the install company. Awkward either way.
I tbink you made the right choice with the shower. Its unfortunate, but at least it still "looks" great, and now you know never to work with that company again.
Also, this is my favorite build series on RUclips, and I've watched/am watching many.
... and when you do the main house .. bet you won't be using THAT TILE COMPANY. Never heard back from them .. shameful! But not surprising, finding honorable companies is getting harder and harder.
Modify the vanity! Way of life! Now y'all are having fun again! Modify (gut) the wall for the drain, don't cut the bottom of the vanity .. now to see what ya do
Oh, I bought one of those hole saw setups! Thanks for that!
well thought out reasoning to your plan!
Awesome job! Plum as always! Great pick Jordan! #23
I don't know Paul...I ket hearing "Rad & Jordan will finish the tiling....yet, All we see in the video is YOU.....are those boys working? It looks SPECTACULAR...Nice choice Jordan!!!!!!!!!!!
Tile wall looks like the video game Q*Bert. Looks awesome.
You just dated yourself, homeboy!
Now I can’t unsee that! 😂
@@elmerkilred159 - Yup. ;-)
Can't wait to see you guys help the Perkins crew with framing!
5:15 Speaking of other states, come to the Capital Remodel + Garden Show in Virginia next year! I haven't gone the last few years, but I would definitely go to see you guys if you were there.
Period.
Good call on the shower too bad the company screwed you over. Nice job on the tile looks great!!!!!!!
You guys keep coming up with great stuff i look forward to seeing your videos!!!
I never thought tile could be sexy but “That is Sexy!” Excellent cut work Paul!
Better off using stone or tile though in a shower not wood! Marble is really soft and 1/4 round can be made easily with a bullnose wheel on a wet saw!
Brilliant idea!!.
I was thinking some stainless steel Kerdi quarter round with the tucked-mastic-lip cut-off & just Proseco big-stretch to install.
@@StonemanRocks Road trip!
@@StonemanRocksThe seamless ceiling lines are ruined. I'd try lowering the ceiling 2" in the whole room.
I waited all day yesterday and then today for this Woohoo! Looking fresh brother!
definitely agree with the decision to keep the shower! great video all around! so excited for the final product! yall are so close!
Love that tile! Most excellent choice.
Love that tile and the pattern it makes. Super job!
What a great job on the tile, I look at the pattern and see steps like in the old video game Qbert.
Smart decision on the shower walls, get some value out of using the room as it is, if it was the main house then it may be a different outcome.
You all are doing a great job on this house!
love that you guys are working with Matt over at Bunker Branding for your merch! he is a good dude! keep up the good work!
Here we go! Glad you guys are safe
