Even after many years later and I still enjoy Paz putting her hair up during the breakdown and then picking right back up when her part begins again. You missed it man! One of my favorite moments in any music video.
@Astrophobia88 Paz is extremely attractive to me for more than the hair tie bit, I agree, though. That's what most people talk about, and it's kind of annoying
I'm really glad you reacted to this. It's one of my all time favourite songs. My mum died after an 8 year battle with cancer when I was 16. I went to a Catholic school and she was a devout Catholic right till the end (pilgrimages to Lourdes, the whole nine yards) After she died I had a really difficult time with my faith and this song encapsulated how I felt. It means so much to me and I'm glad you appreciated it ❤️
You have started it. Now you must listen to the Wings of Marie 1 and 2. It is required listening. It is almost a continuation of this song, but with Tool.
Imo A perfect circles best songs are "Weak and Powerless" "The Noose" "3 Libras" "The Hollow" "Pet" "The Doomed" "Talk Talk" "So long and thanks for all the fish"
I've heard this song probably a million times and never knew Judith was his Mom. Thanks for the attention to detail and effort to fully understand a song. It's dope.
This song really hits home to me. Same with 10,000 days part 1 and 2. It really reminds me of my girlfriend who died of cancer back in 2016. She was a beacon of light and hope for me and when I lost her, I lost everything. I lost what little faith I had and went into a self destructive depression. I'm forever thankful for Maynard for putting my pain and existential depression into words and music.
Alex, Judith is part a many song story. The other parts are “Wings for Marie” parts 1 and 2, as well as all of 10,000 Days,( from the Tool album 10,000 Days) was dedicated to lead singer Maynard James Keenan’s mother Judith Marie Gridley. She passed away 3 years prior to the release of the album. Judith is the angriest song from before he came to terms with what was happening to her. The Tool songs are after her death and after he did come to terms with it. You should definitely check those out. He also has a third band Pusifer that you should check out as well. I've seen both A Perfect Circle and TOOL in concert over the last year and both are incredible bands but really, really different. The TOOL concert was pretty standard, by TOOL's version of standard, metal show with the lights and projections and all the rest. A Perfect Circle though was one of the strangest concerts I've ever been to. They both super enforce the no phones and camera rule but APC goes farther. The stage was dark most of the concert. Maynard is in the back of the stage and you can hardly see him. Everyone is lit from underneath so you this shadow effect like the band isn't even really there. It was just wild. Two of the best concerts I've ever been to and I've seen hundreds of concerts.
Im not contributing to meaning of songs here but ive seen puscifer and tool in concert. I love all maynards bands but tool concert wasnt really for me. Puscifer was good though. The performance, lighting, breaks. It was quite enjoyable
Super happy that you’re finally listening to A Perfect Circle! I hope you keep going down the APC Rabbit hole after this... so many great songs for you to do reactions for!
Billy Howerdel was a close friend of Maynard, and Tool’s guitar tech for Adam Jones in the early days. Then he formed this band with Maynard in the early 2000s
For more A Perfect Circle you gotta check out their songs “Pet”, “Orestes” and “The Outsider”! Also, Maynard’s actually in 3 bands 😂 check out “The Remedy” by Puscifer as well if you feel so inclined! 🤘🏻

Definitely check out The Outsider by A Perfect Circle aswell, especially since you (atleast seemed) to love this one. Keep doing you my dude, love ya lots!
The evolution of Maynard from “Judith” to “Wings For Marie” is inspiring. I have a religious mother and I have made the same evolution in thinking. I just want my mother to be happy and if religion does that then so be it.
There’s very few musicians that can write a song that draws you in like this one does. Judith is #1 on my list for that very reason. It’s lyrically and musically GENIUS.

In a quote from a Christian group: The greatest single cause of atheism is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, then walk out and deny him by their lifestyles. That is what an unbelieving works simply finds unbelievable. Being the son of a preacher I saw the hypocrisy in organized religion. I never pretended to be more than I was.
Mer de Noms as an album is a masterpiece. The mathematical precision on every note and depth of every song was incredible. It got me through pretty much every long paper I had to write in college.
You said the key word was "blind" in blind faith, but I wouldn't necessarily say faith is completely blind. We don't base our faith in Jesus without any evidence. We can base it on the testimony of those who came before us and SAW Jesus. Not blind. The gospels are eyewitness accounts. Jesus through the perspective of four different authors in totally different walks of life, who had access to the very witnesses who saw and walked along side Jesus. They wrote these books during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses, which is important because if another eye witness were to read one of these and something be off, they would have called them out on it, not every eye witness would have been a follower of Christ. You see, the Gospels would have been something that could have been easily falsified, but they never were. Jesus disciples were killed for not denying that they SAW Jesus after his crucifixion. I think David Wood explains it well- "How did a few disciples of Jesus convince so many people to believe a man claiming to be God rose from the dead. Just look at Jesus's disciples, all but one of them went to their bloody deaths claiming they had seen Jesus risen from the dead. Most people's explanation for the origin of Christianity is that the disciples made up a story so they could spread Jesus's message, but that explanation doesn't make any sense. If you're willing to die for something, you obviously believe it. When a terrorist blows himself up, no matter how wrong he truly is, he's obviously sincere about his belief. So Jesus's apostles had to truly believe what they were dying for, which means they were truly convinced they had SEEN Jesus risen from the dead. When most religions are willing to lay down their lives for something, it's for an ideology they had heard from someone else, and that ideology could be true or false. The disciples were dying for something they SAW. What convinced so many people that they had seen a resurrected Jesus. You can probably explain one or two of them away as being crazy, but all of them? You can think about it all you want but there's no other explanation for why they all had that same level of confidence, even to the point of death, than they actually saw Him. Which means if Jesus did what He said He would do when He said He would rise from the grave on the third day, then you can believe there's a better life to come when He said there is."
I think he said the the keyword was "blind" because he was talking about blind faith, not just faith; I certainly don't think he would disagree overmuch with anything you have to say here, he was more pointing out the dangers of faith without thought or consideration.
Buddy of mine back in high school when this came out was in a band and they would cover this. They did a battle of the bands at a local school and they said they couldn't cuss. So he would scream "HUG YOUR DOG!"
This is still one of my step dads favorite bands. At a young age not knowing a whole lot of music at the time, he would play these songs all the time. Even went to musical arts school to get more in depth with the music. Eventually he learned how to play these songs on his own and it was amazing. He was the reason I started playing guitar in the first place. Tool, A perfect circle and all the bands that Maynard has been in were a big part of my childhood and my journey into metal in general. All in all dope ass reaction man. Glad that you reacted to them.
It wasn't quite the same when you started off this video with your signature smack and "This is Alex, and I'm BACK with another reaction video" without the loud smack sound you usually throw in there! Haha, I don't know why but I love it when you do that! I hope you are doing well and staying safe with this crazy ass virus going around.
Drummer of a former band i was in met Maynard at a party before he was super famous. And apparently he his an arrogant rude person. Still love all his music. He even has his own winery now. Genius for sure.
Everyone always talks about the music in these vids, but I think the medium allows more. The video is so interesting in its own right. The director, David Fincher, and the director of photography use every trick available, from frame rate, aperture, shutter speed, lighting, and angles, to deliberate imperfections like overexposure, plus damaged film, bad framing, and misalignment on projector sprockets during the "presentation" of the film. It all helps set a tone of unease and lack of stability to match the song.
i love you guys! hope you all are out there staying safe and sound! don't shake hands!! wash them bitches.

That album of theirs "Mer De Noms" is their best work ever. You really should hear the whole album from start to finish. It's amazing.
I felt like he same way until I gave Eat the Elephant a few listens... I think its overtaken as their best, fuckin masterpiece
Agreed good sir
Not only their best album, but possibly one of the best albums ever made. At the very least an easy top 10.
Top 10 album of all time for me. Every single song is uniquely mesmerizing.
It syncs up well visually with the original animated Disney Alice In Wonderland.
Let’s hear “A Perfect Circle “. Song: “ “The Noose”
Live at Red Rocks
Hell yeah! “The Noose” is my favorite APC song.

were to read one of these and something be off, they would have called them out on it, not
every eye witness would have been a follower of Christ. You see, the Gospels would have been
something that could have been easily falsified, but they never were.
Jesus disciples were killed for not denying that they SAW Jesus after his crucifixion. I think David Wood explains it well-
"How did a few
disciples of Jesus convince so many people to believe a man claiming to be God rose from the
dead. Just look at Jesus's disciples, all but one of them went to their bloody deaths claiming
they had seen Jesus risen from the dead. Most people's explanation for the origin of Christianity
is that the disciples made up a story so they could spread Jesus's message, but that
explanation doesn't make any sense. If you're willing to die for something, you obviously believe
it. When a terrorist blows himself up, no matter how wrong he truly is, he's obviously sincere
about his belief. So Jesus's apostles had to truly believe what they were dying for, which means
they were truly convinced they had SEEN Jesus risen from the dead. When most religions are
willing to lay down their lives for something, it's for an ideology they had heard from someone
else, and that ideology could be true or false. The disciples were dying for something they SAW.
What convinced so many people that they had seen a resurrected Jesus. You can probably
explain one or two of them away as being crazy, but all of them? You can think about it all you
want but there's no other explanation for why they all had that same level of confidence, even to
the point of death, than they actually saw Him. Which means if Jesus did what He said He
would do when He said He would rise from the grave on the third day, then you can believe
there's a better life to come when He said there is."
I think he said the the keyword was "blind" because he was talking about blind faith, not just faith; I certainly don't think he would disagree overmuch with anything you have to say here, he was more pointing out the dangers of faith without thought or consideration.
Tl;dr
JESUS!
Bleh...
Buddy of mine back in high school when this came out was in a band and they would cover this. They did a battle of the bands at a local school and they said they couldn't cuss. So he would scream "HUG YOUR DOG!"
Cody Evans 😂 that is hilarious
Love this song! So haunting. Now I’ll have it stuck in my head for days!
Less than a handful of reaction videos dive into the meaning of the lyrics. You. You are above and beyond most reaction videos.
Paz tying up her hair is the coolest part in the video. period
A masterpiece, that’s how you describe it.
Noodle Nose!!!!!! Haha haha!!! THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME LOL EVERYDAY!!! 😃✌👍
Paz tying her hair up was the best part of the video for me.
I haven't listened to APC in a while ,now I gotta binge listen to APC for the entire week.
I like how the bass players, grabs her hair , like it's going down !!!
