I kept tearing up transmissions in my C-10 back in early 90’s , Papa said son you keep tearing them transmissions up you gonna learn how to build’m cuz he was tired of helping me after the 5th time …. One of the many best thangs Papa did for me ! I miss him somethin bad !! But I got skilled at TH350’s . Got them thangs to slap !
I ran multiple zsk embroidery machines and Montana ski tuning machines. Before that I worked loading and unloading large pottery kilns. Love this info on transmission building.
After your explanation I appreciate even more why you don't do builds on camera. I am wondering though, if you could just throw up a cam or two and maybe voice over it later? Not something you could or would do often but maybe once in awhile. I would love to see what you actually do behind the curtain to a 4L60E.
There still a lot more to putting them together then what y’all explain when yall tear them apart. That’s what we want to see. We understand it’s a customers vehicle. You are the go to source for problematic issues with transmissions. But seeing you put them together would be great to see. We all could benefit from that, taking your expertise and carrying it on

Set up a camera above Richard looking down on his build table and tape a complete build then speed it up when you post it. That'll keep em happy and you won't be bothered.
Here is an interesting idea. Do a video of rebuilding, But, Don't say a word during the taping. The cameras can be fixed and filmed at different angles.. Afterwards while editing the video you can explain what you did. As in narrating your work.

Question Richard..... What would make a manual 400 whine in first gear? It's a stock type rebuild basically with reds and altos and a bte valve body. I'm glad you got precision transmission back but after I found your new channel I subscribed to it as well.
I still wouldn’t attempt to rebuild a transmission without following you, because of the clearance issues with bearings and clutches. I wouldn’t want to screw that up.
Not to sound stupid but why cut off a Chevy bell housing to put a Chevy bell housing back on? I would understand cutting off a Caddy or Olds but not Chevy to Chevy.
NHRA rules require that the bellhousing meets a certain SFI spec (See the label on the new one) that will contain the shrapnel if a converter explodes. Since most automatics (Except the Ford C4) do not have separate housings, the stock one has to be cut off the case so the new one can be installed
I understand that, but I asked customers if they want me to take time to video the transmission build and they tell me no they would rather me concentrate on the whole build and not make any mistakes
@PrecisionTransmission IF you had my tranny to rebuild l would want you to show how it goes together. You can record it and still do it right. Then edit all your videos of it into a 4 part rebuild or how many you want. If you don't other do it on utube and you will just keep losing folks to the point videos are not worth doing.
Just be honest with us about the build videos. We know that if you did them, you are afraid of losing business because people would know how to do it themselves. We are adults, we can handle the truth.
I had a transmission shop rebuild the one in my 99 accord. The guy said he knew those in and out and was confident about them. $3600 bucks. Came with a 18 month warranty. 18 months and 1 week later the trans went out and left me stranded on the highway. I had the car towed to his shop, and just left it with him. Car = $3400. Rebuild = $3600 Loss = $7k Mint condition 99 accord, big red paper weight. I will never have another trans rebuilt as long as I live. I could have done a full 3.2 motor, and 6 speed swap for that same price. This is why I don't trust mechanics.
I built my TH350 in my race car using some of your tricks and modifications, and it's still going strong 2 years later. Thanks !!

Why don't you just have 4 cameras on the transmission table and build with no talking buy your self, and edit videos. Try it out.
