Programming Compustar Remotes (Traditional Key Vehicles)

Learn how to sync up to four Compustar remotes to a Compustar remote start or security system with this video. This particular video addresses programming remotes to a traditional-key vehicle.
1. Insert your vehicle key into the ignition and cycle the key to the 'ON' position and back to the 'OFF' position a total of (5) five times rapidly. (The engine will not need to be started at any time during this process.)
2. Immediately following the key cycle, press and release LOCK (I). Please note: extending the press longer than .5 second will prevent the system from recognizing the remote.
3. Repeat step 2 for each additional remote(s).
All doors must be shut during programming. In addition, the system must be disarmed. Valet mode will be activated if the system does not identify a remote during programming.

I was quoted $75 to get mine reprogrammed was able to do it myself with this video in 30 seconds. That is insane to be charged $75 for something so simple

Your video is the BEST!!!! I have a 92 Corvette with this remote and in the late Fall of 2021, the remote starting portion stopped working. Bought my car used from a dealership, for whatever reason I didn’t get the remote for the system. After contacting Compustar customer service (they’re extremely helpful by the way) I was able to find a replacement!
Compustar omitted a key step with the 5 times on/off procedure which did not work. You must do this within 7 seconds and then press the lock button. Success.

I was initially unsuccessful, but then figured it out for my car. First I would do the five on-off method. My car would immediately blink twice and not take to the programming. I tried at least 15 times. Then I tried the on-off method, but four times instead of five. My car blinked once, I hit the button, then maybe five seconds later it blinked again. I turned my car off and tried the starter....it worked! So for some of you it may need to be four times instead of five. I have a 2006 Honda Civic LX - ANT-AP antenna type.

FYI for those of you having troubles.
Mine didn’t work after disconnecting my battery and it WOULD NOT let me reprogram my remote (lights would flash once and wouldn’t flash again when I hit lock button. Would flash twice ending programming). I made sure I wasn’t in valet mode. THEN, I disconnected my battery again and started fresh....worked right off the bat

If this doesn't work unplug the positive connection for one minute. Than try doing this again it should work. This is the process that I had to do to get it to work 👍👍👍👍
If you're talking about your car battery: A) This won't initiate remote programming. B) This may exit valet mode if that's causing issues. C) You should always disconnect negative first, not positive, or you may risk causing a short.

How do you program with a push button start car?
After installing new fuel pump which I needed anyway..it’s looking like my immobilizer is the issue. 🤦🏼♀️ Car won’t start, remotes being a dick..no engine light to throw a code.

modlel : 1WG15R-AM this remote will not link to my compustar alarm system. I currently have the 2W901R-SS remote. Is there a way to link the new remote to the system. Tried runing the key 5 times and can link the old remote. But not the new one. Any thoughts.

What do you do if you can't get the car to go into the programing mode? I have tried so many times and am at my witts end. I drive a 2014 ford edge if that helps.
this isnt working for me sadly. been slamming my head against the wall trying to get these remotes to repair. car goes into pairing mode like the video but pressing the button on the keyfob does nothing. is there a secret extra step or something?

@@Mike-zl5me yo i got it to work. remove batteries from fobs and disconnect car battery again. touch battery terminals together to drain electrical system of any juice left in there. reconnect battery and try the re-pairing process again.

This doesn't work for me. My remote fobs use to work but not anymore. There was some electrical Issue a while ago draining my battery. The mechanic did something to solve that problem. Now my compustar remotes don't even lock or unlock the doors. I have two of these Compustar Fobs :

I've got a 2017 Yaris, I can put it into programming mode with the 5 clicks trick but the CS recover doesn't respond to the new fob being pressed.

You may have purchased a fob that's not compatible with brain antenna. Contact Compustar. Good customer support.
I've always done this 5 times reprogramming method over the last 12 years with my 4runner and its always worked. However yesterday when I had to do it again, it won't work.
So my remote worked fine except the proximity wouldn't turn off so i decided to reprogram it. When I did, it locks/unlocks my doors (no parking light flash anymore though) and now it won't start my car. I've tried reprogramming again and its the same. Only locking and unlocking but no light flashing and no car starting. Winter is coming... please help.

I did this repeatedly and got no single click. Just the 2 completed programming clicks after pressing the lock button. Mine is an older model one way remote system and I just lost my main set of keys. I need to reprogram a remote to have one working one as well as cancel out the lost one. Can anyone help?

For some reason my remote let's me program it successfully but then it doesn't lock or unlock or remote start my car I get the 1 beep after the 5 on off key cycles then hit the lock button and get a double beep then take the key out and my remote doesn't work I just replaced the batteries but that didn't fix it either the lights on the remote light up like normal but the car does nothing
H Compustar, by mistake I used the same remote and programmed two cars. so when I remote start the car both my toyota and kia starts their engine together. how do I deactivate the remote from one car? please let me know.. thanks.
Did you ever resolve this? They show you how to program but not delete remotes.
If you program 3 remotes to a system then add an additional one it will boot the first from the 3. But who has remotes just laying around.

For some reason I have to unlock my car 2-3 times to get the trunk to open. I didn’t have my remote so I hit the unlock button in my car but it locked the door. I closed my door and I was locked out. Luckily I left my keys outside. I unlocked the car with the remote and the alarm went off. I couldn’t get it to stop blaring. It shut off on its own. I tried to remote start and it won’t work. The lights don’t even turn on. I get error code 8. I tried reprogramming the control but it won’t let me . I cant even turn on the key with my key either. Please help.
Thank you so much, it worked for me!!! my remote was not working, I thought the antenna was disconnected but when I tried the second remote( which I normally don't use because it is one way) it worked. I followed this video to reprogram it and in less than 5 seconds, all is working. I only have a problem which I have since I bought the car, whenever I lock the car with its original key and try to start it with Compustar remote, the security alarm goes off and make that crazy noise. Not sure if you’re still having this issue but I had the same problem and just fixed it by putting the factory key in the ignition and turning it to the on setting then hitting the unlock button on the compustar remote. Not sure if that would work for you but it did for me. Hope that helps.

Yes. You need all key fobs you want programmed present at the same time, as any other key fobs will no longer work.

Yes, programming resets all "banks" on the remote starter. If you want to pair 2 remotes, all 2 remotes need to be programmed at the same time.
Do you need 2 master keys to install remote start? My 2006 Lincoln Mark LT only came with 1 master key when I bought it
Ah, it looks like you need two keys during installation (not permanently, just for programming).

Trying to get my 2~way remote to unlock all doors instead of just drivers door only. Tried multiple things. Does this work on 2018 Jeep latitude? I've tried multiple times, disconnected the battery. After 5 turns & I leave it in the ACC position, I get the 1 click & I push the lock button & then I get the 2 clicks, but 901 remote doesn't work.

I FIGURED IT OUT! You need to hold the lock button down when doing the 5 key turns. Then the 901 FOB will beep once to let you know it accepted it. Then the 901 remote works fine.

Any advice for a 2012 Nissan Armada? I just got it installed in November and we had to disconnect battery to change fuel pump and now remote doesn't work. They want $88 to reconnect. Tried the above and it didn't work 😕
Hi Megan, sorry to hear that. It might not just be the remotes that need to be reprogrammed but also the brain inside the vehicle. If this is the case, only the dealer can do this, unfortunately.

pulled the brain and numbers are wore off. its old. installed in a 2000 ... window sticker has compustar 800 number. i called it to solve unsuccessful start(clicking and retry clicking). the guy had me do some shit... turn key, toutch break, ect. now it dont even try to stat but lights flash 2wice. and the antena has 2 lights not now stay on all the time. WTF did he do?
doing reseach on the origonal issue, all i needed to do was program tac. but the tec never tryed that and shut something off. i cant figure oiut out to reverse his fk up. also.my hood switch was broken.
PS. why is it soooo hard to find info on older modles? i dont want or need the new crap.
