    I wish Compustar have us the option to activate / deactivate certain alarm sensors from the remote or phone app.
    For instance if parking at home in the garage, you can just arm a certain sensor, butnif parking at a busy/sketchy area, be able to arm more sensors.
    That would be really cool!

      Technically, this is possible using AUX outputs, *but* you (the user) would need to know which AUX output is turning on or off which sensor. This is NOT a native feature though, where there are actual indications given as to which sensor is turned on or off, it would be a custom set up done using the Compustar AUX outputs, of which there can be up to 8 aux outs available (default system availability being Aux 1 and Aux 2)

    I had Compustar 2W Paging installed in 2015 on my 2000 Nissan Altima, and in 2022, Viper 2W pager was installed in my 2005 Civic Si. I personally don't care for remote start. Both systems are great since I had an Authorized Dealer install them. I will say, Compustar has the edge, but Viper is up there with them.
    2 things I like about Compustar is rapid honk when alarm is triggered and their 2 way pagers are always updated. Viper does not really update their 2 ways as they constantly look outdated. I will add that with Viper alarms; they are reliable. I haven't heard any installers having problems with them. By the way; good video.

    I've got a 1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ, only stumbled on your videos after installing my remote start, I ended up going for a Compustar CM-X with Compustar Prime R3 1 way remote, had 8 wires to connect and the old girl has remote start, ended up costing me $200! Hi ,
    what would you pick if you had 2024 corolla key-start gas model for remote start and mobile app.?
    1) Would you go DS4 or DC3 ?
    2) what mobile app Smart start or Mycar 2?
    My plan is lately to add two way remote in to the system but not now.
    Please reply as i like you videos but this is specific question if you could help me making a decision.
    Thanks

      @LockdownSecurity  3 месяца назад +1

      I would suggest the DC3 over the DS4. There is no plug and play harness available for either though. FYI, Fortin has the THARONE-TOY17 harness, that works with the EVO-ONE, but the EVO-ONE is not as good of an alarm, as the DC3 is.
      I would suggest MyCar2 for smartphone app control (ONLY if you live in Canada though, as it does not work in the US yet)

    Hello. Very good informative video, many thanks. I bought the CS2WQ900-AS but have not received it yet, I have Mazdaspeed 3 2007 model which used to start with a key but I converted it to a start/stop push button and I do have the kit to bypass the key immobilizer, now, do I need anything else to the CS2WQ900-AS to achieve Remote Start? And finally, what options does the CS2WQ900-AS come with in the box? Cheers

    • @LockdownSecurity
      @LockdownSecurity  5 месяцев назад

      If you have the immobilizer bypass then you should not need anything further, however if your Mazdaspeed is manual transmission than the CS2WQ900-AS will not work, as it is for automatic vehicles only.

    • @AhmedBahgat
      @AhmedBahgat 5 месяцев назад

      @@LockdownSecurity Thanks mate for your reply, is there a way to bypass the manual check, I can get a signal if the gear stick is in neutral position then I can pass that signal to the compustar as if it is automatic, and if the car is not in neutral then the signal would be negative? Cheers

    • @LockdownSecurity
      @LockdownSecurity  5 месяцев назад

      @@AhmedBahgat Not safe to do it that way, if the neutral sense signal ever fails, and the car is in gear, and you remote start, see ya later car, it will drive until it hits something.
      You have to use a manual transmission compatible (safe) remote start on a manual vehicle, it's the only truly safe way of doing it. You need a Compustar CMX controller, and a Compustar FT-DASII sensor.

    • @AhmedBahgat
      @AhmedBahgat 3 месяца назад

      @@LockdownSecurity Hello mate, I took your advice and designed a further safety measure in case the neutral switch fails and the car is in gear while remote starting, I designed a motion sensor using a 6 axis accelerometer MPU6050 that will only activates via the GWR Compustar wire when I remote start the car, if the car started to move while cranking, the accelerometer will activates a relay to provide power for the brake wire for 1 second, I tested it and the car only moves between 30 and 45 cm before it stops by itself. Cheers

    Which system support scheduling to auto start my car? Not a reminder, I know they support reminders through the mobile app, but I want my car to start itself every 7 AM so that if I forgot and still taking a shower, I don't need to press a button. I need the car to fully start on its own without buttons pressed. Thanks!

    • @LockdownSecurity
      @LockdownSecurity  Месяц назад +1

      None of our current models of remote starters allow remote start scheduling. Directed Electronics once made a device (a remote starter timer if you will) that could do this for you, but it was discontinued well over a decade ago. Compustar, for example, does provider a 24 hour timer start feature, where you can program the remote starter to start once every 3 hours etc., over a 24 hour period, and also at a certain temperature, again over a 24 hour period. BUT, after every 24 hour period elapses, you must REACTIVATE this timer feature.
      They do this to prevent accidently death by carbon monoxide poisoning, in situations where a timer start was activated, and the car was parked in a garage, in a home. Because the feature resets every 24 hours, it is assumed the user will ensure the car is not in an enclosed space when using the feature.
      The feature YOU want, while I agree would be awesome, does not currently exist as a built in feature, of any remote starter available that we know of.

    Would either of the Viper models be considered a passive system whereby if you turn off, exit, and lock the vehicle, it automatically becomes 'armed' ?
    Also since you explained how the Viper model tends to be more of a 'bundle,' am I correct in assuming if I want the 2-way remote I have to get the model that gets the remote start installed as well? Would one of the Viper-parent-company smartphone apps support the 3105V too and what exactly can be done through the app?

    • @LockdownSecurity
      @LockdownSecurity  6 месяцев назад +2

      You can configure either brand (Compustar or Viper) to passively arm, and also passively arm + lock (riskier to set as you could lock yourself out), thereby creating an auto arming setup.
      As for Viper, yes, if you buy one of the analogue systems, you must buy the version that comes with the 2-way LCD, they are not upgradeable per se (like Compustar can be). Now, for DS4 from Directed/Viper, these can be "upgraded" using a 2-way key fob kit, but the analogue systems (as I show in he video) require you to buy them equipped, with the key fob of your choice (not easily upgradeable).
      Viper 3105V is NOT compatible with SmartStart (Directed's smartphone system).

      The digital tilt sensors, set themselves up to whatever angle there are at when the system arms, meaning if the vehicle is on an incline or decline when parked and armed, the sensor will detect variances (tilt change) from whatever angle they were armed at. As the other commenters mentioned, while driving the sensors will not be active.

    I see a lot of Ram trucks being stolen in canada lately. You mentioned the field disturbance sensor for convertibles. Couldnt that be setup as a warn away with like a foot or two detection range just beyond the truck doors so if someone approached to use a slim jim or check your VIN it would give the warn away chirps and if they did it again it would go into full alarm?

    • @LockdownSecurity
      @LockdownSecurity  4 месяца назад +3

      Yes and no, proximity sensors can be set to trigger when someone walks close the vehicle, but the problem is the steel body of the vehicle, this causes interference and interference with proximity sensors means false alarms, constantly. The other thing that is an issue with setting exterior perimeter detection, weather, specifically hot and cold temps, these also cause false alarms.
      So, this is why proximity sensors are designed for, and best used in, convertibles, to protect the interior when the top is down.

Although this video is very informative, I assure you if you saw the DS4 with their Bluetooth app and the ability to add the viper remotes on top plus the accessories like the DS4 wireless siren and the DS4 wireless keypad, you would know which technology is more Latest and better.
    I’ve done over 3000 installs and I can assure you when it comes to software Viper/Directed is leaps ahead.
    What the viewers need to understand is that the viper system highlighted in this video is years old and still comparable to the current Compustar. The DS4 paired with Viper Clifford Python Avital AutoStart AstroStart remotes outshines Compustar.
    I will tell you one of the biggest advantages of Compu Star - they have better looking remotes, and their speakers are much louder whereas Viper tends to design, simple, and redundant remotes, which lack good speakers.

      Thank you for the fantastic comment, I would agree that technologically, Directed Electronics (Viper, etc.) have been the innovators and at the forefront of new technology, however what has caused them to fall behind (in my opinion) has been fragmentation of product directions, along with the ownership change the company went through. Directed, over the years has started, then stopped, then started various product directions, which harmed them and held them back. Leading to Compustar overtaking from a brand perspective, form both consumers and more importantly dealers. I have seen the updates coming out on the new product they will be releasing (many new key fobs etc.), and I am excited to see where it goes, and who knows, maybe make a video to refute this one and provide a different perspective.
