Beautiful, beautiful work! a true credit to the original Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife :D I would love for you to make a knife suitable for emergency first responders, e.g. with a window punch on the pommel or a seatbelt hook on one side of the dagger with the rest of that edge unsharpened to aide removal of clothing etc (well, technically it wouldn't then be a dagger but you know...) If you could do that I would carry it in my boot daily XD
The dimensions of the blade seem solid. But the hilt looks a bit fat. Where it breaks down is the handle. Its missing the second hip toward the back and its missing the grooves. All probably done originally on a wood lathe. The grooves are important. Highly polished coco bolo. That's like one of those anti stab prison knives they intentionally make impossible to grip wet as a safety feature. The grooves add grip for when its wet with blood. No gooves thats a 0/10 fighting knife. Would not trust..See grain raising. semi poor finish will add improved grip. Are we looking at it? or are we planning on shankings here? Holding it. I think thats the psychology that instills confidence. Are the valleys and troughs placed and sized to where when you put it in your hands does it feel form fit? Does it instill confidence in your grip if you know about the details of getting down with the get down?
I haven't used O-2 steel myself so far but I think that your quenching temperature was way too high, buddy.^^ It should be 'Hardening : 790 - 820 °C' something like this. And this is definitely not yellow-hot, more like a red-ish color. Otherwise, good job!
Joe the Builder I agree it looks a bit too hot, but as he says the colors can look different on camera.
As a recommendation: use some sort of colored border around the writing you put in videos. That way the text is always visible when you put it in the video :)
You have to do 3 normalisation cycles : 810° then 780° then 700° we are not at a precision of 20° lol but the grain structure gonna be super fine if you do that 😉
Being a knife collector myself it seems just about everything shape and proportion wise is wrong with that.It doesn't look right. That's not a Fairbairn-Sykes dagger.
Why are you cutting like this with your angle grinder ? It's an anormous waste of time, disk and steel Just do straight cuts by follow the line of your tang, you would have save a long enough piece of steel to make another small knife
Stop relying on auto focus. You can manually set focus range. It takes a couple of moments to get right, but makes a world of difference! I've done photography and videography for quite a while. But I like your channel and videos. Just wish they were a bit longer and in depth. Thanks for the entertainment!
Dope AF results, Gentil Knives! Now it needs an equally dope sheath/scabbard to complete the package!
Beautiful build!
These historic fighting knives are great projects and you did it very well!
KUDOS!
That sharpening jig you made from that angle stock is such a freakin genius idea!
The sharpening jig is a great idea. Love that knife you made. Awesome.
Dude you got some crazy talent. Keep it up.
I made a dagger in that style(Fairbank), it was my first dagger and I know it isn't perfect but it still looks good. Thanks for the video.
Beautiful workmanship!
a nice version of a VERY difficult to build knife.
That my friend is a truly stunning dagger, coupled to a great video, thanks for sharing.
The handle doesn’t really have the typical iconic look of a Fairbairn Sykes dagger how it’s all smooth but it still looks amazing great job🇬🇧👍
Very sweet dagger man! Thanks for sharing this with us! Love the Alec Steel merch :P
Nicely made !

That tee shirt rocks my friend. And your work and skills are really getting better all the time. Anthony Kent HAWK woodlore knives UK
That's cool n all, but me personally prefers forging, seems way more durable
Nice letter opener
3:58 Polishing all curved up over the knife with the point at few inches from your stomach, seems a bad idea!
What did you put on the cocobolo for it to be black ?

Godt arbejde! Og flot resultat.
Why did you cut so many slots to cut out the tang ,one cut either side would save a lot of time and material nice knife

Yes I'm pretty sure it's the right temperature my camara can cheat with Colors when it is dark outside :)

You are the beat one!

Old Henry Im 15 and i come from Denmark
Its not a F&S , all dimensions are wrong and the blade is not long enough or thin enough. Wooden handle ?
can you make a pyramid head knife ?
and social blade says you gain 400 dollar -5000 dollar is it counting your shop to ?
Fairbairn. Not Fairburn.

Ayylin \/ who the fuck are you to talk like that ? I'm just sharing how to properly cut with and angle grinder
Tried searching for your dagger on the internet through Google unsuccessfully. Shame.
Thats a lot of scrap from one knife
You want to copy a knife...why not make it look like the original ??
