Two guys sitting deciding if a bikini should be worn by women. Ya okay. Hey guys, how about you liken scriptures to YOURSELF. How can any scripture apply to YOURSELF. Talk about how to respond to a woman. Hey, a man is incredibly desirable in a suit. So what should you wear? Come on guys, get a grip on your high selves.
I liked the part you said "The best way to serve you is to honor God". I believe that's very true and when couples have such a mindset it brings a fruitful marriage.

Then He [Jesus] said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses [temptations, stumbling blocks, or something that causes people to sin] should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones." (Luke 17:1-2).
I agree with him, however, he needs to check himself. Look at how he is sitting with his legs wide apart in tight jeans that conform to certain parts. Just sayin'.
I agree, it's simple really. If you are a Christian and want to be pleasing to the Lord cover your bits. :) There is a physiological response from males when they see a female in a bikini. Todd is correct many people only think of themselves, I think this issue has a very simple answer if you don't only think of yourself...
What gets me about this issue is that tools like these guys talk as though THIS applies ONLY TO WOMEN, .. . what about MEN who go shirtless or wear trunks or speedos? Also, what about those NATIVE TRIBES who live in places like western equatorial Africa or South America who wear nothing but skimpy loincloths, thongs, pouches or, in some cases, go utterly naked? . .. I never hear these people, who decry women wearing bikini's, acknowledge THEM. .. . or is THIS perhaps a matter that somehow only applies to WESTERN FEMALES? Oh, and what about NUDIST COLONIES? . .. that's another thing they never seem to mention. Oh, and my understanding about BIBLICAL MODESTY is that it actually has more to do with OVERDRESSING - like wearing "broided hair, gold, pearls and costly array" ( 1 Timothy 2;9 ).
Shouldn't it be the people lusting over them that's in the wrong, for someone to think they could tell another what to wear is stupid. Women lust the same, so does that mean you wouldn't go out without a shirt on for you chest is sexalized by women? Or what about sitting with your legs open, are you asking to be lusted over, do you want to bring attention to yourself? It's so rude and dehumanizing for you to talk about what one may or may not do with their body. If one feels comfortable, as long as no genitals are showing (I won't be specifying them) then to each their own and you should take it upon yourself not to lust.
_"Woe to a world that leads people astray! Although it is necessary for temptations to arise, nevertheless: Woe to that man through whom temptation arises!"_ ~Matthews 12:7 God asks us not to tempt others. And anyone who tempts others has equal responsibility to the sin committed by the tempted!
Christians today are lost. They rather spend time trying to toe the line of sin rather than trying to please God. It really comes down to Christians letting the flesh dictate their beliefs.
would you think its Christian to walk around in public wearing underwear? No? but if everyone did it would you feel more comfortable? just because many commit immoral acts does not make it less immoral. If everyone committed abortion it's not less murder in Gods sight. Remember God is the objective standard we are measured and judged individually without favoritism regardless of what conduct others approve of. We are not of the world. We belong to Christ. what would be the reason you can't wear it in church? because it is sensual? because its indecent? because it is unworldly?, disrespectful? how do these descriptions change simply because you add sand? If men dressed in bikinis would its absurdity become more evident due to less desensitized frequency? a crotch patch is the last step before being naked. the last step from the most extreme possible act is the same as saying it's ok to be the darkest gray from black when Christians are expected to strive for perfection as to be white as Gods angels. Cultural acceptance is relative to the closeness of its spiritual conviction. Some Godless cultures run naked, do they justify us doing the same? Ask yourself why you wish to wear underwear in public? Are you attempting to glorify yourself as your own idol? wishing to solicit the attention, praise, admiration, lust or desire of others to worship, crave and covet you? If we agree lingerie is for the purpose to arose sexual desire, is a bikini far from it? Do you desire to fit in and conform to the cultures expectations when they themselves are GODLESS ? If God is the same yesterday today and forever, and a day to him like a 1000 years, does the passing decades make sinful fashion trends designed by sinful men, make the unchanging human form less shameful to be publicly exposed? Does your comfort require the discomfort of others, in that their sexual peace must be disturbed? if you throw a match on a pool of gasoline do you blame the gasoline for igniting? Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” 10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” he still considered himself naked even though he was more than bikini clad, wearing a fig apron. Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them "A coat? No God, I want my fig leaf bikini!!!!!" So despite wearing a makeshift sown bikini apron, Adam still considered himself naked in the presence of perfect holy conviction. In the presence of criminals, we are comfortable with our evil. So if you can't wear it at church you shouldn't wear it in public. other then the beach where all others are committing the same act of sin where else would you feel comfortable being the only one wearing a bikini? A similar question was asked concerning whether men should have their hair cut. The first post in reply to that one gave the answer for both: "God looks at the heart, not at the outward appearance." Unfortunately for John MacArthur's own new Tables of the Law, nobody was wearing bikinis in Biblical times, and the word is very modern, so the decision is entirely up to the individual. Swimming pools have been taken to Court for not allowing women to go topless. The argument seems to be for sexual equality. Men go topless, so why can't women? That sound as sensible as my local council, who wanted to call a new swimming pool the "muddy waterhole." (Well, they cannot legislate to say that women in cafe bars can't wear bikinis, because the legislation would have to say that men can't, either. Well, if they have to say it, then say it! The law is such an ass, that it does worse things. I won't express a personal opinion, because women should make up their own minds.
You really missed the mark. Yes, modesty, for both women and men. needed to be addressed. However, the bulk of the video should have been about lust which is the real problem. By the way, modesty has changed over time and by culture, but lust does not change. Finally, why do you have your legs spread and raised to the camera when talking about modesty? Maybe, you need to examine yourself before judging others.
The problem with all this modesty culture is that it seems to imply that there's something unholy or corrupt about sexual attraction. God made women beautiful. Why oh why is this a problem?
When God hung on the cross He was totally naked, and Adam and Eve were as naked as can be. Job 1:21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord hath given, and the Lord hath taken it: blessed be the Name of the Lord. Isaiah 20:3 And the Lord said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years as a sign and wonder upon Egypt, and Ethiopia, Matthew 25:36 I was naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. John 21:7 Therefore said the disciple whom Jesus loved, unto Peter, It is the Lord. When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girded his coat to him (for he was naked) and cast himself into the sea. Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 2 Corinthians 5:3 Because that if we be clothed, we shall not be found naked. 2 Corinthians 11:27 In weariness and painfulness, in watching often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and in nakedness. Revelation 3:17 For thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing, and knowest not how thou art wretched and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.
Sin is the reason Adam and Eve had to clothe themselves after Eve took of the forbidden fruit. It is also why we need to wear clothes too! SMH Taken "naked" out of context seems foolish.
This question is mainly pointing towards the season of summer. I agree with the message as we should think more of the company we´re in. Take your surroundings in consideration. In my experience it comes down to how you carry yourself. If you put a lot of value in your clothes, with your way of being, that might cause the "problem" to grow. You can never ever dress normal, clothes will always say something about you. It is pure ignorant to say that your clothes don´t draw attention. If you want to reach a certain group of people you will have to dress a certain way. Peace.
You have to remember that modesty is extremely cultural. I would argue that in this culture, a basic swimming bikini would not be seen as immodest by anyone. Some places in Europe, it’s culturally fine to swim in the nude or topless. In the Renaissance, the church commissioned nude statues be created that were seen as a beautiful, godly thing. So should we be modest? Yes, sure. But I don’t think you can just outright say that that means women can’t wear bikinis in public. That’s a very large leap in logic that isn’t a universal truth by any means. Secondly, and more importantly, if your primary argument against bikinis is that it makes men stumble, then I believe we have a whole different issue on our hands, which is teaching men to treat women with respect, no matter what they’re wearing. Hopefully this won’t come as a surprise to you, but women get ogled and harassed no matter what they are or aren’t wearing. Modesty has nothing to do with that problem. That problem lies in the hearts of men who need to understand how to respect women.
I have this struggle in my heart, because I have extreme trouble finding a one piece to wear. I am 6 foot tall, and no one peice I've ever found actually fits. They are made too short for my body. I try to wear conservative bikinis. I can't stand wearing shirts and shorts, as they get water logged and fall off, or slide up, and cause frustration. I am trying so hard to find a pretty and modest one peice, but it is very hard.
Double C What do you think Christians are here for? If we're not supposed to care what people think about us, then why didn't we get raptures up the day we believed? 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 1 Pe 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; 2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. 3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 1 Cor 10:33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the [profit] of many, that they may be saved. As Christians, it's no longer about us.
I have always wondered about this question and one other thing he asked about the turtle neck that's an easy its not a must but pertaining to the bible the less skin you show the better it is but its not a must but its better
Last response to the couple was DEAD ON... should have started out with that.... its hard to talk generally about this stuff, but it makes it easier to swallow when given in real life examples
I kinda disagree on the whole "you don't want to be a stumbling block to someone else" thing. If a person wants to be chaste, they will be chaste. Thats their responsibility. The issue is not so much about being a stumbling block, but about personal dignity, which is each individual's responsibility to decide and act on. However, me, I would never feel comfortable about wearing one. "He is not to be numbered with the people of Baha who followeth his mundane desires, or fixeth his heart on things of the earth. He is My true follower who, if he come to a valley of pure gold, will pass straight through it aloof as a cloud, and will neither turn back, nor pause. Such a man is, assuredly, of Me. From his garment the Concourse on high can inhale the fragrance of sanctity.... And if he met the fairest and most comely of women, he would not feel his heart seduced by the least shadow of desire for her beauty. Such an one, indeed, is the creation of spotless chastity. Thus instructeth you the Pen of the Ancient of Days, as bidden by your Lord, the Almighty, the All-Bountiful." ~Baha'u'llah
I think they look too much into this small stuff . I'm sure if these guys were at a beach they wouldnt mind looking at women in bikinis . It makes one feel like you can't do or enjoy anything , like you have to be the most boring person ever and you are not human .
The true answer is No, A Christian women even though may have the body for it, should not give the spirit of Lust and his friends ammo to stumble other women or men.
You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little @%$ed up maybe, but I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to !@$%ing amuse you?
Real Truth. Real Quick. First of all the authorship of Timothy is suspect. There isn't consensus among the best of scholars that it was even authored by Paul. "Paul" was actually suggesting modesty because it was Roman fashion to be modest at the time and Christians needed to "fit in" rather than dress how they wanted in their new found freedom. It has no bearing on a bikini in 2015. Second, we've come a long way since 1st century understandings of gender and equality. Wags, as he's called, is like many of his ilk. He strings together scripture like it's a single book from Gen to Rev. It's not and anyone trained theologically in a sound institution would know this. Yes, I'm trained, I'm ordained, I"m a Christian pastor. Scripture is fluid, it changes, and it must speak to our times in a way that makes sense. Wags sounds a lot more like a Sheik in the Taliban. He might as well hand out burkas at Watermark. His position comes from deep seeded and ancient patriarchy . . .nothing more. To cloak it in a passage from scripture is abuse and lacks integrity.
tcu1992 Yea, I was thinking the same sorta thing.... I think that a woman would be more suited for this question.... but I agree that Paul was speaking specifically in context to the women back then because he was describing the equivalent to like getting plastic surgery and booty implants and walking around topless back then.... But I think that is one of the few lines in the NT that allows quite a big of wiggle room just because of how specific yet incomplete the examples of what not to wear are.... But he made a good point about paying attention to WHY you are wearing what you're wearing... Is it to please man? Or is it to represent God? I think that's a good point...... And I would flip it back around on men too.... We get let off the hook way too much... Going topless or wearing speedos I think is just as equally enticing and men do it for all of the wrong reasons women do it too.... But if you're worried about body heat... then fine.... or if you just really like fashion... then fine.... but I would advise against going out to show yourself off.... Its such a grey line though lolol I think its mostly a waste of a conversation unless you feel convicted in your heart... The holy spirit will guide you so if you're really struggling with this, pray about it lolol
+tcu1992 get of here with that. a man has an opinion that is just as valid in this matter as a woman does considering WE are the ones some of these women are trying to seduce. no one is telling a women what to do. he is suggesting to women who want to please God how an appropriate way of dressing would according to what scripture says. this for the women who WANT to dress like whores.
+Gerald Boulin We? Speak for yourself. I'm not trying to seduce anyone. If you can't control yourself around a bikini that's your problem, not the woman. And it's not just an opinion from this preacher. He's dangerous. Any preacher that says there were dinosaurs in the ark and still gets followers is scary…but not as scary as the people who follow him.
I’ve always been confused with bikinis too, never a control thing but just looks weird to be almost naked But as a man it’s simply long beach shorts and a vest or shirt, I never really got the idea of a bikini 👙 so thin, so exposed and so almost graphic haha
It's not for a man to talk about whether a woman should wear a bikini or not. It's for a woman to use her common sense, to protect herself and respect herself so that she isn't a target for those men who can't keep themselves under control. I never wore a bikini when I was younger. It was never to prevent a man from 'stumbling', it was for my own self respect. These two would probably say I was being modest for the wrong reasons. Sheesh!
Matthew Adner 33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Martin Luther said: "You can's stop the birds from flying over your head, but you can keep them from building a nest in you hair" What about self-control? You are reading that verse too literally. As men who shave your beards and cut your hair, you should know better. Christ has freed us from these strict laws (Galatians 5) We still follow the laws set out in Galatians 5 verses 19-21, but it should be noted that we don't follow these laws in order to be saved (as we are not saved by our deeds but by grace; through Christ alone), but because we know it is pleasing to the Lord (as that is what Scripture tells us). We should be able to control our lustful thoughts and nature instead of judging people for what they wear to the beach. I mean for goodness sake even the people who go to nudest beaches can control themselves. You also said "You wouldn't wear a bikini to church" Yes, because that's not what swimwear was designed for, it makes no sense to do that. I don't wear a bikini, but that's because I want to protect myself from men with a similar thought process and a lack of a good moral compass who can't control themselves and not because doing so would make me a dangerous succubus. Control yourself. As simple as that.
Are women really tuning into these bozos and taking from them "God's preferences" for how they dress? Ladies. Guys. Go skinny dipping! Have a great time. Jesus could care less. Be kind to one another. Have fun and join hands and whether you're dressed or naked. Be loving. Be happy. These two are from another planet.
Radner X Raledake You sound like Satan himself. You should read your bible. Without holiness no one can see God! I pray that you would repent. Take care.
isn't modesty objective? What's modest to me may not be modest to others. Attention to me is something someone else did. They have free will and can do as they please.
michael brosseau We know that we're not supposed to make a brother or sister stumble. Dress in a way that you know isn't going to draw a lot of attention to yourself. It's no longer about us but about Christ.
Let’s be real though - men can lust after a woman no matter what she’s wearing. Discussing whether or not she should wear a bikini is grossly missing the point.
I have several! =D I wear them for sunbathing, water parks, the beach...But if I'm going down a water slide or to an indoor pool, I'll wear a one piece. Believe me, I'm not out to pick up guys. I have a guy, and I'm out with my family.
Your adornments and your character should reflect who you serve and your virtues... if you dress modestly people know the most high is your Lord and that you don’t seek self centered attention or cause people to stumble
And as men, we were taught it's immodest for a man to sit with his legs wide open. Like the guy on the right. Modesty is for both men and women.
Those who say men can't sit with legs open are just manhaters who want all men to become women

Although it is necessary for temptations to arise, nevertheless: Woe to that man through whom temptation arises!"_
~Matthews 12:7
God asks us not to tempt others. And anyone who tempts others has equal responsibility to the sin committed by the tempted!
Christians today are lost. They rather spend time trying to toe the line of sin rather than trying to please God. It really comes down to Christians letting the flesh dictate their beliefs.
I agree. But what can you wear if you wanna go for a swim?
You can find modest swimwear.

Thank-you praise God very good advice in the Lord in the word of God. Amen.

It's extremely foolish. Some people just like having their ears tickled.
Out of context. Foolish.
Peace.
Moral of the story if you are on a beach or in a pool wear as moderate of a swimsuit as possible
Exactly. These pricks are legalistic as hell.
Toxic Christianity alll in these comments wow I’m embarrassed lol.
And you get to choose what women wear because.....??
Anyways.
Thanks for this.
That problem lies in the hearts of men who need to understand how to respect women.
desertrose0601 every woman is different and it could be a stumbling block for some.
Man is cultural; God is not.

I am trying so hard to find a pretty and modest one peice, but it is very hard.
speak on modesty for both men n women or don't speak at all on the topic.. because it comes of as hypocritical..
Don't forget mentioning 'yoga pants' or 'leggings'. It's one thing to wear leggings under a dress, it's another to wear them as 'pants'.

Yes, lets tell people to worry about what other people are thinking about us.

You two men are totally welcome to wear a bikini. So are women.

You should only wear a bag. Hessian, or plastic. You should wear a full niqab in the shower. Take advice from men.
Yet again. . .a man telling a woman what she can or cannot do and misusing/abusing an ancient text to do so.
tcu1992 Hi! Thanks for your comment. Was there a specific verse used that you feel was taken out of context?
Real Truth.
Any preacher that says there were dinosaurs in the ark and still gets followers is scary…but not as scary as the people who follow him.
ok ITS YOUR BODY. DO WHAT YOU FUCKING WANT ITS YOUR FUCKING BODY. if u wanna wear a bikini, go for it girl
I’ve always been confused with bikinis too, never a control thing but just looks weird to be almost naked
But as a man it’s simply long beach shorts and a vest or shirt, I never really got the idea of a bikini 👙 so thin, so exposed and so almost graphic haha
May I ask about the 666 in your name? Just curious
@@twent19 I’m a bit of a satanist that’s all mate 🦋
The irony right ✨
It's not for a man to talk about whether a woman should wear a bikini or not. Sheesh!
can Christian have a sexual desire

Martin Luther said: "You can's stop the birds from flying over your head, but you can keep them from building a nest in you hair"
What about self-control?
Radner X Raledake
You sound like Satan himself.
You should read your bible. Without holiness no one can see God! I pray that you would repent.
Take care.
Radner lied against God saying Jesus could care less, just as Lucifer did in deceiving Eve. Hell just keeps getting hotter for the unrepentant mocker.
False.
isn't modesty objective? What's modest to me may not be modest to others.
Attention to me is something someone else did. They have free will and can do as they please.
michael brosseau
We know that we're not supposed to make a brother or sister stumble.
It's not about you. Could you be more self absorbed?
Your adornments and your character should reflect who you serve and your virtues... if you dress modestly people know the most high is your Lord and that you don’t seek self centered attention or cause people to stumble
