Women also lust after good looking men. I have seen it and heard it. Ladies, we are just as guilty as men in instances. Not all women and men do this but we need to be honest about it too.

I don't think it's fair to say women struggle with visual lust just as much as men. I'd say female lust can be equally potent, but it's often less focused on the visual. A clear sign of this is the overwhelming majority of men struggling with pornography over women. Again, that isn't to say women have less inclination and capacity to lust, it's just certainly not as visual.

*Lust isn't about the physical aspect, it's about the psychological. Lust is a form of abuse and like all forms of abuse the psychological element is what drives the whole issue. As a survivor of childhood, domestic abuse, I know this almost better than anyone. The reason why people have this false sense of what lust is is because they don't understand that part, we see a mere fraction of what happened during these cases (the sexual assualt) and believe that's all there is to it. Because of this, we assume the victim was responsible for "enticing" the perpetrator, this is ignorance. What we don't see is the priming and grooming and intimidation and breaking down of the victim's psychology in order to make this happen. That part of it is more "fun" for the villain than the actual assualt and that's why all acts of lust (pee...dough...feel ya, raype, incest, prostitution, po...rn, molestation, neck...row...feel ya, zoo-feel ya, home...O...sexuality) are deemed men-tall disorders. Do your research and you'll find that the majority of sexual predators have severe men-tall disorders and PTSD. This is what I wish more people understood.*

*The problem is most people don't even know what lust is. You probably think lust and sexuality are the same thing...guess what?...THEY'RE NOT. Sexuality is completely natural, healthy and proven to lengthen a life span. Lust is a manipulation of sexuality that harms yourself and others. Having a sexual feeling for someone isn't "lusting" after them. God created us to be sexual beings, that's why He gave us genitals and sex hormones. Also it's clinically proven that we benefit from daily masturbation meaning we benefit from sexual urges further proving that we're supposed to, by God's design, embrace our sexual nature. So even if someone is dressing to be enticing and turn heads, that's completely natural.*

For a video that hits some deep points, it is otherwise very shallow. Why is men's modesty often centered on the heart, but avoids clothing choices, and women's modesty is heart and clothing? Particularly clothing? Men can and do dress to be peacocks. Men can and do go shirtless in public. Wear muscle tops. Have their underwear hanging out. Wear clothing so tight nothing is left to the imagination.
Why is the dignity and value of women always mentioned with modesty videos (with advice to cover up) but men get a free pass? While there may be many differences between the genders, there is no difference here: many men dress immodestly, too. Perhaps they, too, should cover up.

As a Catholic, I DISAGREE with the statement "A woman is not to blame for your lustful eye no matter what she is wearing". This is NOT necessarily true as it depends on the context. For example, if I'm a police officer and I'm called to a house at 11pm and a woman answers the door in her underwear, she is NOT to blame. However, if I'm in a restaurant & a woman walks in dressed in revealing clothes. According to God, she is guilty of (Lying) manipulating her body to deceive and entice. That is a mortal sin. This makes her PART the blame.

People have already alluded to this in the comments, but I'd say, next to visually inciting lust, the other main form of immodesty is emotional modesty. While men are more vulnerable to visual immodesty, women are more vulnerable to being emotionally revved up by men crossing non-physical boundaries.

@@Lauradahl-creations There are two forms of immodesty: visual and emotional. Visual immodesty is dressing or physically presenting one's self in a way that evokes lust visually. Emotional immodesty is acting or speaking in a way that evokes lust by stirring up sexual desires in their heart. By nature, men are generally more prone to visual lust and women to emotional lust. Thus while men and women should be attentive to both areas of modesty, men should be more careful about how their actions may stir up a woman's heart and women should be more careful about how their physical appearance sexually entices a man.

Traditionally this meant to dress plain for women this meant covering cleavage, not wearing makeup, or jewelry outside of a wedding ring and covering their head with a veil or shawl. For men it also meant keeping their legs and arms covered and not wearing a hat or anything on top of their head.
So when women entered a church if their head was not covered they put a veil on at the Narthex of the church. As for men that worn hats they would remove them in the Narthex of the church.
In the modern day clothing which had logos on them and not dressing in formal attire would had been frowned upon years ago. Anything which is considered a distraction shouldn't be worn.

Fair and yes. It's never been required for a woman to wear a veil or men to dress in their finest for mass. That would sum up people's presence at mass to their money, not their faith. I still love the chapel veil, and it can be very beneficial to remove jewelry for women to avoid vanity. It's an excellent practice for Lent. However, there's also the saying of "Sunday best" where you do dress up because you are going to meet The King. In my understanding and opinion, it seems a bit distorted. The item shouldn't be held with vanity but as beautiful objects.

Thank you for making this video! :) What I see a lot in youth groups for example, is that the women try to dress modest. They discuss their clothing with eachother and really think about it. Then if you look at the men, they don't think about it. It is as if they don't care. In the summer, they go to church with jeans above their knees and just a tanktop on. If it isn't modest for a woman to wear jeans above the knees and a tanktop, why does a man wear those clothing to church? You can see all the biceps, so it isn't modest for men eather, in my opinion. Thank you for also adressing the different aspects of modesty. I really appreciate this video :)

It's quite the opposite from where I'm from. I always have and always will wear a tie and and suit to church. It's modest, simple and respectable. But I see lots of young women (Granted, I just got out of high school) wearing booty shorts, tank tops, T-shirts, graphic shirts, etc, to church. It's not nearly as frequent to see a young man wearing anything like this. They're usually wearing maybe a polo shirt and khakis, which I think is respectable. I don't honestly think I've ever seen a young man wear jeans in church, but every Sunday I'll see 5 or more young ladies with booty shorts, jeans, tank tops, etc. (Assuming it's not winter, lol. I don't think many people will wear booty shorts in the winter LOL) I'm honestly not quite sure why this is so. Our community is pretty close-knit and most of the families here know each other, but the dress varies so much. As they mentioned in the video, I've thought about mentioning it to some of the young ladies / men that show up dressing immodest, but I'm scared something similar will happen to me that happened in the video. I fear I'll be very kind, approach with respect and love, but they'll get offended and won't return to our church.

In the gym example, according to the point you made earlier about how a Christian man's goal is to look at a woman as a person to love regardless of what she's wearing, the protective instinct should guide a man to talking to the men ogling the woman. The man could easily also discuss with the woman how she feels about the men around her and whether she is uncomfortable. That conversation does not need to include what she is wearing. It can simply be related to her experience in the gym.

Question. What is Ascension Presents really saying when they choose such good looking people as their spokespeople. Doesn't it further encourage men who want marriage to pursue only women who are at least as attractive as Jackie and for women to only pursue guys who are at least as attractive as Bobby? I.e., aren't we doing exactly what the dominant culture is doing a la subliminal framing? I.e., it isn't the content that is solely being pitched -- the presenters of that content are modeling desirable frames for us too.
If every movie one sees contains men who as attractive as Chris Hemsworth, then we're warping girls standards into not accepting guys who aren't as attractive as movie stars.
It's the same with crafting a social media image that makes it look like your life is way more awesome than it is.
It damages our ability to accept the real.

However it's not evil and is actually a morally good thing to be sexually attracted to your partner, to want to give yourself completely to them, and the Catholic Church teaches that everytime you have sex with your spouse, you are renewing your Marriage Vows. What is lust?
If you’re saying that if a naked woman is literally in front of you and being provocative you’re not supposed to be aroused because you’ll be sinning in your heart? Oh and on top of that it’s not ever her fault that you feel like you want her?
I’m sorry but that’s ridiculous. Absurd even.
I’m sorry, I usually like and agree with you guys, but “it’s never the woman fault” is ridiculous. She has to take AT LEAST part of the blame.
There’s a reason people harp on women more than men. Male “immodesty” doesn’t arouse sinful thoughts in others like female immodesty. Female immodesty is literally provoking one of the deepest primal urges we have. What is the most male immodesty can provoke? Envy? You can say the same about women. In fact anybody can provoke envy just by being, however it is not the same with lust.
I’m sorry, but this is just you guys buying into the feminist propaganda being preached at Mass under the guise of “love”. Don’t tell me for a second that the women who showed up to mass with a miniskirt or white yoga pants where her underwear is clearly visible isn’t at fault at all if someone looks at her and suddenly starts experiencing desire. Thats abused and it reeks of feminist propaganda that is continually shaming male sexuality. You have no idea how many times I’ve walked into Mass and have had it completely ruined because before I walked in I have an image of a girls parts seared into my head because she bent over in a miniskirt or the women in front of me want to show off her behind in front of the whole congregation. How is that fair? It’s not like I’m freaking trying to lust.
Enough with selectively quoting Jesus. Yes, he did say that about lust. But back in His time, women were INFINITELY more modestly dressed. We are in a completely different situation now. Let me remind you of what else He said:
    Luke 17:2
“It would be better for him(her) if a millstone were hung around his (her) neck and she were cast into the sea than that (s)he should cause one of these little ones to sin.”
By saying that it’s never a woman’s fault, all you’re doing is continuing the feminist propaganda that women essentially can do no wrong and its men who have to change.

You can’t tell a woman in one breath that she is in no way culpable and at the same time tell her to dress modestly. It’s a contradiction.
