The Meaning of "I Love You"

  • Fr. Mike breaks down the real definition of love, which is willing the good of the other for the other.
He goes further than that though, saying that if we truly believe in Christ, then the loving thing to do would be to share Christ with others by being his witness.
St. Valentine risked his life by being a witness for Christ and for love. In our calling as Christians, let’s be courageous and love others not just by doing good deeds for them, but by sharing Christ with them.

On receiving the eucharist this morning-St Valentines day- I heard Jesus say 'No man on this earth could love you more than I do'. Thought of St Augustine and looked up his quote ' To fall in love with God is the greatest romance, to seek Him the greatest adventure, to find Him the greatest human achievement

I once said "love isn't just a feeling it's a choice" in a group of about 5 other teens and they all looked at me like I had two heads. If people understood this, I think it would help save so many breaking relationships and marriages.

    • @wardensofthecross4209

I completely agree... Too many people marry for romantic or sexual love alone, and that eventually fades or becomes moderated... To love another's soul and who they are as a person is what matters, and too many people don't see that. What ruins marriages is a lack of Valentine's love...

    • @venvilhenrydsilva8354
      @venvilhenrydsilva8354 3 года назад +3

      I get it.
It’s painful to see how people have drifted away from Love. But still unknowingly seek love in everything because without love there’s nothing, it’s just emptiness(HEVEL), even wisdom is pale without love. Then, these are the same people who complain about boredom & even depression.
Love is what takes us far away from the shallow and we Love because The Lord loved us first.

I read this in the Catechism of the Catholic Church: "God desires all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Tim 2:4); that is of Christ Jesus (John 14:6). Christ must be proclaimed to all nations and individuals, so that this revelation may reach the ends of the earth." That's only part of it, but it says, ALL, not some, ALL. We need to think about that.

There were 10,000 people who saw moses part the red sea.
There were over 3000 people, maybe 5000 who saw moses conjure water out of the rock.
There were 5000 people there when Jesus fed the congregation with two dosen baskets.
I don't browbeat the people around me with the truth.
I'll happily state mundane things like food and money come from God.
I'll breifly mention spirituality is the last staircase of the many staircases on Mazlows staircase.
Irritated atheists I leave alone. They were irritated atheists yesterday and will be irritated atheists tomorrow.
I shut down petty arguments before they even start.
Christianity is meant to answer questions and bring peace. I dont engange the irritable atheist much further.

I had a discussion about love yesterday with my boyfriend. He says that love is our involuntary response to virtue. I used to agree with him and stand by the same definition. He says he doesn't love me anymore, because I stopped being virtuous. How did I do that? I simply started believing in GOD recently and he, a convinced atheist, believes that I have renounced Reason and Logic and that I no longer have Truth as my highest value. Therefore he can no longer admire me or have feelings for me. By his definition, love is just a selfish enjoyment in the virtue of someone else (and he thinks atheism is a virtue). But I realized that I care about him and about other people even though they are not (particularly) virtuous. I want to help them, I want them to see what is bad for them and change course.
I am extremely grateful for finding again my faith in God! Even if it means losing this relationship.

Love in a nutshell is placing others before oneself. It's about being there for the person in good times but more importantly the bad times.
If a person says they love Christ but abandoned their faith one could argue if that person truly loved Christ at all.
The same applies with marriage and divorce one could argue if that person loved their spouse at all. Once a person puts themselves before another person it's not love.

This video helped me reflect something very important... God loves us so much that He gaves us Free Will. If He didn't give us that then that would have been self-serving of Him but instead He chose to give use Free Will and now is our option to love Him back or not... And that must have taken a lot out of Him. That is why we must do everything in our power to love God, others and ourselves!

“Love is long-suffering and kind. It does not envy; does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth: bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

POWERFUL Point!! Younger generations Must be Properly taught by education, as well as by modeling examples for them, that they Must unashamedly, Boldly, Loudly, Eagerly, Generously and Frequently Share the Light, the Way and the TRUTH that is their Christian Faith (and thus their duty), Freely and Daily with as many others as possible with the Hopes that the lost people shall also come to Know the Joy and Love that is Jesus Christ, our God and Saviour!

How is it possible to know the Truth and not want to spread it. It’s so great when you can share Christ with someone. And even greater when they accept Him.

I don't think it's wrong to share your faith with someone,I just think at times it helps those who haven't encountered anything that built their faith, but at the same time it might be pointless coz life is very different for all of us and different instances show us what Faith in Christ really means and someone may fail to understand
