As a beginner I am so glad to see someone who just wants to print. I am a beginner in 3D modeling and printing. I have plenty to learn and don’t need a printer to tear apart and rebuilt on top of everything else at the moment. I’m looking to use 3D printing as a tool to improve my main hobby, not have it be my main hobby. I’ll be looking deeper into this channel and hopefully finding the footing I need.
@@gubatron2441 I did. I ended up going with a Bambu Labs P1S. So far it’s been great. Printed awesome quality right out of the box. I have 330 print hours on it so far and haven’t had to do anything other than the recommended re-greasing of the friction points. I have only printed with PLA which is the easiest filament but it has worked good for my parts I needed.
I use the Prusaslicer with my K1. I figured out a way to get the side fan control using the custom g-code "after layer change". Here is the code I came up with and it works. M106 P2 S{(layer_num < 1 ? 0 : 204)} ; Side fan to 80% after layer 1 It will turn on the side fan after the first layer is printed. The 204 is the speed percentage (204/255) = 0.8 or 80%. Prusaslicer I think gives better results than the Creality slicer, but that might just be my opinion.
Well then, you have got to be a breath of fresh air. Most creators i come across in the 3D printing space are super into the tinkering and optimizing side of things, which, while i do enjoy pushing to get the absolute max out of an investment, most of the time i just cant be bothered and i just want to use the printer as it is. i think you are the first creator ive found that actually shares that sentiment to focus on the goal rather than the journey.
I bought an early K1 and I love it, like you I am a print and go man. I have left behind all that tinkering and can now just slice and send to printer via my computer. I agree about the app and have never even tried it. Luckily as an early buyer I was able to take advantage of Crealitys goodwill gesture for the early problems and got a Camera, Hotend and Extruder replacement as well as a roll of Hyper pla for the princely sum of $2 with free delivery. Well done Creality and keep up the great work Ross😂
I'm on the other end, I took possession of my K1 Max V2 ( So called by some) on Monday. It has the better hotend and a few other little bits come with it. So I have to say, well done Creality, a mile better than my Ender 5 Pro, that has just about everything that can be done to it, yet doesn't come close. Yes, that app is painful, and the cloud transfer doesn't print all my model, it's at 100% about 2/3rds the way through the pri t and just stops, wasting so much filament. What am I doing wrong? Or is it them losing a third of my data in the cloud transfer??? I will let you know when the support team get back to me. Good video, I must say 👍🏻
It’s even simpler. Some people want a kitchen and some want a microwave. I want a device that just works with little maintenance. Others want the flexibility to change and tweak everything. We’re closer to the microwave than ever but the cost for those is climbing.
The comparison doesn't really work because a microwave has very few parts that can wear out. You only have to clean the inside from time to time, but that is more for hygiene than to keep it working. Microwaves are also dirt cheap. You can get them for as little as $50, so it's not worth repairing the microwave. 3D printers, on the other hand, have many moving parts that wear out over time. Not only is regular maintenance important, but you will need to replace parts from time to time. And you should have at least a basic understanding of how a 3D printer works to be able to perform such a repair.
@@andreas.grundler That was True about computers initially too. Microwaves are now cheap but when they came out they cost hundreds and were in just a few homes. When they broke, it would be worth repairing them instead of replacing them. so the only people who understood how microwaves and the electronic and mechanical parts were service technicians and repair engineers. 3d Printers are going that way. Removable nozzles and hot end components are being built in to them to make the hardest maintenance more like swapping a cartridge in a 2d printer. Even greasing the lead screws can be removed by using ball screws for far less wear. It;s a good analogy, we just aren't in the same place with Microwaves as we are with printers.
I watch them all because I'm in the market for a Resin printer on Black Friday. I'm leaning toward the Saturn 3 Ultra with all the wash and cure station fanciness. I even plan to use your link. 😉@@FauxHammer
Just summed up 3d printing reviews at 10:42. They get sent as a review units, people print a benchy and go "its great!" And not wanting to say anything negative to keep getting sent review units.
I like that 3D printers are evolving and getting easier to use and work with. Bambu has paved the way to the future of 3D printing and is a huge competitor and Creality has to compete with that.
First time watcher - definitely subscribed. I COULD tweak the hardware - I've been doing IT professionally for over 20 years. But I have ZERO desire to. I just want something that "works". I'm glad you're getting into the non-resin printers, and I picked this up on Christmas sale and LOVE the K1. Am surprised I haven't heard more about it. I also got the camera and LOVE IT. I don't use the phone app at all. But, I basically unpacked it, had essentially no experience with 3D printing (but lots of video watching) and was printing successfully after about 30 minutes. I moved the K1 into another room (b/c it was LOUD) and was able to print off about 10 or 12 walls for DnD landscape just back to back to back. Was a pure joy to use! I hope Creality sees more success with it. They even had a video that showed how to get your first print going (with "one click print" button) which worked great, and is what I use now. Love this printer! And very much enjoyed the video~
I'm new to printing. I started with an Elegoo Neptune 4 Max. Then I bought a Creality K1. I love my K1 and the app. Maybe it's because I'm 49 years old and new to making, but I love it. And Creality's slicer has helped me to learn slicing overall so when I use Prusa or Orca, I don't feel stupid like I did before. I use my K1 daily. I've enjoyed it so much that I bought a second K1 as well as a K1-MAX. I guess for a seasoned maker and a maker who has the expensive Bambu Lab X1C, I can see why they might not like such a budget friendly enclosed Core XY printer. At under $550 normally, and even less on sales, I'm extremely happy. I wish I never bought the Neptune so I could justify another K1. Thanks for your review.
I appreciate your review of the K1. I have seen other reviews that praise the app as the best part of the K1 "experience". So, much for those reviewers' credibility. :)
Creality Cloud did reach out to me a couple of months back asking if I'd be interested in promoting the platform... So I assume they wee offering ad sponsorship to talk about it. I just ignored the email...
I purchased a Creality K1 the other day for $370 when it was on sale to replace my current Creality Ender 3 V3 SE, I feel like I have gotten a great deal for something with high build and print quality that was originally $600!
Complete newb to 3D printing and really like your videos as ive been researching. I particularly love the quote from the Bambu A1 & A1 mini vids: "I'm interested in creating, not tinkering". That said: K1 or A1? Both are ~$400 USD.
I wish more and more company do the same as what bambu lab and creality are doing. Making FDM printers more user friendly. More competition is always better.
There’s still a big difference between the two. But if Creality do continue to support this. Something they don’t have a history of doing. Then they could be a true competitor for the throne. Well seeZ in either case. This is pretty good
A great video on the K1 that sums up my own attitude to 3D printing. I have been involved since the Rep Rap days and it has been a fascinating journey. But nothing has been such a huge shift as what we are seeing right now, the virtual flood of Core XY machines that are the closest to being an Appliance than ever before (certainly at the Hobbyist end of the scale). This should certainly enable more creatives into FDM 3D printing. That has to be a good thing.
I was always on the fence for FDM printers and slowly coming around to it. This video helps me ease my worries, especially this brand of printer. So, as always, thank you for this review and helping newbies like me feel less intimated when thinking on getting one!
Had a K1 Max for a couple of months now... One thing I have done is add a filament heater to the side of the printer to ease the pain of changing filament. Subbed now and TY for the video :)
I got the k1 max AI and love the thing. I have an upgraded ender 3 v2 and the k1 is night an day difference. Super fast, handles almost everything for you without me having to constantly adjust stuff. Print quality looks great as well. Still churning out new prints as we speak.
I see lots of polar opposite reviews of the K1. Nearly every RUclips video says it's great. And that's likely because they make sure to ship properly QC'ed printers to influencers unless they do it anonymously. But if you read through any forum/reddit it's littered with people like me who've had nothing but headaches from their K1 from the start that even profuse 'tinkering' or following their Creality's support videos will not solve. The biggest issue with them is their quality control. It would print well...IF they assembled it properly from the factory (which in my case they absolutely did not). And their support is horrendously slow. Then when they do send you parts, they are the wrong parts. I'm glad you had a good experience with your K1, but a word of warning to viewers is that you've likely got a 1/3 chance of having a full fledged lemon until they get their QC straight - if they ever do.
Thank you for excellent review from the viewpoint of someone who just wants printer to print. For me, opensource part is actually a really important part and probably why I won't buy Bamboolabs printer. There have been many companies that tried to build their own proprietary printer, went out of business, and now those printers are essentially paperweights because they can't be maintained. Opensource basically means that a year later this printer will still work, can be repaired using oem or 3rd party parts for reaonable price, will still accept fillament from any company and not just from creality, and they won't create some stupid subscription program. Oh, and that also means that if you don't like their mobile app or software then you can replace it with something better (and there are a better alternatives). Not many people care about opensource, but they should imho. 3d printers improved tremendously thanks for the companies who made their designs available to opensource community (prusa, creality, etc.) and its actually sad that companies like bamboolabs now use these technologies to create their own product, add their own touch to it and make it proprietary.
Thanks,I suppose I do get it, but I suppose with Bambu, they have already proven long-term support, and with a Device that popular, even if we lost Bambu, I’m sure someone would find a way to make a CFW
Tinker here. Discovered that side when i built a voron and had more mods done to it before i ever had the firmware installed. However i own Prusa printers too because sometimes i just want my print to well print Love your reviews thanks for all that you do 🎉
I’m trying to make the best of it, but I’m not happy with my K1. I just got it this month and the test runs with sample filament in the box went AMAZING. but as soon as that filament ran out, it’s been nightmares. Constant clogging, bad extruding, stringy pieces sticking to the nozzle and causing chaos. I’m trying to stay level and work through solutions but it’s ridiculous. The other filament I’m using is brand new and Creality branded filament.
I bought this as my first ever 3d printer as a pre-sale and I've had to sit through bedslinger fanboy reviews ad nauseum saying it's pure shit and scratching my head the entire time. It is definitely NOT shit, In fact I call it my Star trek replicator it's so freaking good. your review nails it as far as future relevance for additive manufacturing, It is practically an out of the box appliance, and like you I personally don't want to tinker I just want to print, and that fact will resonate with creatives and newbies alike who want to print cool shit just like I do. Most RUclips channels don't recognise this and I think they need to hang it up, the hobby just passed them by. I don't want to argue with another channel owner who waxes nostalgically about the "pure" hobby and who think crappy 100 dollar bed slingers have any type of future anymore and just don't get what the fuss is about. It's about speed, man! Speed and accuracy in a vastly more capable platform too! Watch all the naysayers who in the past dumped on this printer go by the wayside, face it, bro you truly don't get it anymore.
I bought an ender3 v2 then upgraded it (just some things that imho should have been on the machine to begin with) then used it as a work horse (reliably) and bought a second printer that I kitted out fully lol so I am kinda in the middle, but my first ender just works it really is print and play.
Agreed, I am. I'd always recommend varied reviews. I'm coming from it from a much simpler mindset than most, and as i said in the video, it has it's quirks. But IMO it's too hard compared to the P1P yet at a much lower price. Would I rather have a P1P than this? yes, but for currently $150 more.... I honestly don't know.
I am looking to buy my first 3d printer and need to learn everything so not tweaking a 3d printer is what im looking for, but were do we find our things to print and or availability of plastics or types. i will be looking at maybe producing car like components and toys. so im guessing pp or abs plastics are typicaly used for those normaly.
Only found a couple of your videos recently because I was shopping for a new FDM printer (actually went with the K1 before seeing this video), and would say I'm more on the tinkerer side but I actually enjoy your perspective on FDM stuff. The deeper you get sometimes the more common sense nonsense gets excused or justified sometimes.
The reason you, and other potential buyers, should care about open source, is because those that do want to tinker and make improvements to the printer and its features can do so, and you will also benefit from those improvements they make as they get integrated. This means K1 owners aren't at the mercy of Creality to fix bugs or add new features when they inevitably forget all about it and drop support for the K1 when the next hot product generation comes out.
Hi, greetings from Mexico, I've been watching a lot of your videos lately, as I'm about to get my first printer, though I can't really decide on which way to go FDM or Resin, what would you suggest? I'm really looking for as little a need to tinker as possible as right now I just want to focus on printing stuff.
So I know if someone wants smooth surface quality, then they should to SLA printers that do a good job at minis, but when it comes to Fused Filiment such as this, layer lines are just part of the process. Sanding and filling doesn't look like much of an option for that Venom shell for the spidey head, so I was wonder, instead of smoothening the print, what are some good techniques to completely hide the layer lines visually? Is there a paint or certain colour filament that will make them hardly noticeable while being looked at on a shelf?
Haven’t used a 3d printer for a long time. I just got fed up of them never working properly. I want a print and go solution. With this new wave of core xy designs we seem to be approaching an out of the box solution. I’m seriously considering either a qidi plus 3 or a flashforge 5m
Ok fair, less of a third option, more of a "both". But sure, if you enjoy the playing about with printers. But in all honestly what would you choose in this build area at this price point? Bed slinger or CoreXY, is yourc all. but what do you think is best for your use case?
@@ezyfnef I don't get what you mean then, I need to realise not everyone sees things the way I do? That was the whole point of me sharing my background at the beginning of the video? I'm not forcing this printer on everyone. I'm saying, for my use case, which others may share., this is great. Others may not share this use case, in which, This may not be the printer for them and i may not be the right reviewer for them. I literally do this with every FDM video so as not to waste peoples time. Because I've "realised" that not everyone sees things the way I do? So please help me understand your feedback?
I love my K1. It is such an amazing printer. It did have a rocky start as they probably rushed it. But after the extruder improvement on the next batch and the software updates, it is great.
@FauxHammer I think you can see it with the red silicone sock on the nozzle and the lack of a blue clip for the bowdem tube on the top. I had one from the first and second batch. Weirdly enough, it wasn't my extruder. That was the problem. My fan just didn't work, and the supplier didn't have fans, so they replaced my printer.
@@EDreyer thanks, if they had a whole batch of bad printers then it makes sense why early reviews were so bad. Mine has been amazing since first print. and it was all automated.
If only the K1 print beds weren't crooked af. The bambu p1 series is better, tho you might have to slow it down a tad to get solid prins. That's right, sometimes it's even TOO fast.
Mine has been stopping mid print lately but thinking more about that it's the same print so possibly a bad file. Other than that I've run it hundreds of hours with 0 issues. It prints every pla I throw at it with no fuss. Just set it and forget it. Some stringing with certain brands since it likes to run 220-230 for every profile probably because it moves so fast but not a big deal.
Also on the lid it says not to use the lid if the room temperature is above a certain temp. I use the lid always because everyone in the house needs to sleep 😂
I was hoping Bambu would bring out a larger printer but that did not happen. Seems I don't have a choice apart from the K1 Max. But then with 3 printers and one of them being a CR10s am still on the fence.
I am looking at QIDI MAX 3 the big killer I see is being closed source. So what happen in a year or so if you need replacement parts.@@mohistschool1003
Well.. im the same type of person but the only thing that i have to point out is the app. It is really big + for me due to the slicer in the app.. i dont have a computer available and the idea that i can just download an stl into my phone, slice it and then send it to my printer to print anywhere im well yeah.. thats the thing i need altho i do agree on the point of its being super non intuitive etc.
I'm in the world as a new 3d printer , I want to "Tinker" only if I want to instead of being forced too. I believe all the leg work should be done by the company not the end user. Between working full time and family , when I have time , I don't want to have to rebuild my printer to make it make stuff. I'm amazed by those that can rebuild, reprogram and redesign their printers , but thats not me. I want to make stuff , make videos for RUclips and spend my other time say learning 3d modeling.
I actually stopped by a microcenter and they had a returned one. I ended up talking them into selling it to me with the discount. If the sale happens again then it's probably best to pick it up then since it would be the upgraded model.
First k1, failed in a week. Waited 6 weeks for parts and months for the apology hop up kits. Sold it. First max, came broken, second max... Also broken.. It's not worth it of you are trying for reliability
i´m waiting for a idex or toolchanger at a affordable price range thats fast and smooth like the K1, but also affordable, under 1K or around it, nope...not a bambu with AMS!
I would be right there with you if it weren't for the privacy concerns. I don't like every STL I print and every webcam I take to be sent back to China. Sorry, that's a a complete non-starter for me.
hello can you help me decide? I do not own printer in this moment, I'm crafter-man, mostly i would like to print for me and my kids, figures, toys, inserts for Boardgames (here i would like to have possibility print logos in color), boxes, wall organizers, utilities, enhancers etc. What Im thinking about: 1. Bambu lab A1 with AMS (499 EURO) ++++ price + multicolor - missing enclosure/ not build well for DIY enclosure 2. Bambu lab P1S (AMS later but price of AMS itself is huge in comparisons P1S combo) (600 Euro or 850 Euro with AMS +- price + enclosure, cooling, air filters + AMS with closed environment and protections from humidity - price of AMS if is not in combo purchase Price difference between P1P and P1S is to small (40 EURO), to miss inbuild cooling system and air filter already builded 3. Creality K1 MAX AI (634 EURO) ++ price + enclosure +++ volume --- no chance of multicolor (at the moment, later price of CMS? Price of upgrade for CMS? Maybe to much…) 4. Prusa MK4 kit + MMU3 kit (unfortunally price is to high for me at the moment) What I do not like on AMS (CMS as well) is amount of waste. To be honest approach of MMU3 from Prusa is much better, would like have possibility use it on bambu or creality printer... This is for me big deal breaker, and reason why I hesitate. It is not so big to say "ok go for K1 or P1S without AMS" and it is not so small, to say "Ok go for A1 or P1S with AMS" Any recommendation which one buy? And why, considering the points I mentioned? is it worth build enclosure for A1? is it worth build own enclosure for P1P? is it worth AMS or is only "hype"? Is PVA good for supports? is PVA safe for environment (no microplastic fibers getting into ground/water)? I will be glad for any suggestion. Thank you
Get a P1S and AMS later. Because it has the best longevity of any of them and has the most options. It is self enclosed and has all the handy features of the Bambi ecosystem
Fellow K1 user. The app is a mess, and I'm really starting to dislike the absence of certain slicer features (like pauzing the print on a certain height/layer) and the inability to use plugins to add in these features...
Like I just did, I'm reviewing for people who wnat these basic functions easily. Everyone is not everything for everyone, and that is ok. there are plenty of other reviewers covering this stuff in detail. I cover user experience.
Personally, no matter how good their printers are, i would not support Creality or Anycubic for the next ~5 years. Those greedy companies have lost my trust.
I can understand that. I try to remain impartial and focussed on the product as I have no experience with their support. But from what I generally hear. Yeah. You’re not wrong to feel the way you do based on your experience
The k1 is such a good printer for people that just want to skip the fuss and get a high quality print for a cheap price. It's crazy how far we've come in the printing world lol
Is this not a Bambu rip off? And if so, just get a Bambu? I've had several Creality printers over the years and I wonder how long they will support this for....
Hance my point at the end, if they continue to support it. I mean, yeah I agree. That $150 more for the P1P is worth it, but do people have that to spend.
K1 vs P1S is a big difference in price for a small difference in performance. If money is no object, then sure... but I think Creality know they have a market here. Not a bad first stab at this, either. It's almost like they've made FDM printers before.
@@rendez2k yeah, the software side shows how much of a quick chase to catch up on the hardware side this is, hence the "they are learning" rather than "Bambu Competitor" because it can't compete with Bambu. I'm ordering a Bambu P1s and P1P just to make the videos proving this.
CREALITY IN EUROPE NEVER! There is no technical assistance in the EU. If you really need support, you will be in trouble. Their rule is that the customer has to make the repairs. I had to file a complaint with European Union customer support.
Fair enough, unfortunately that's not how RUclips works. please go and find those channels that give you the info straight and see how well they are growing. Check my older videos, my earlier ones. That's what I did. Just here's a product and here's the info. Didn't work. So whilst I always appreciate critique. Please consider "why" these types of reviews exist. because trust me, it was a lot easier for me to just sit there and talk to the camera than do all this editing and engagement shit!
@@FauxHammer Totally understood and empathize. A man does have to make a living. Maybe one way is just to lay out the basics in the first comments? or at the end have a quick table. That way block heads like me can skip to it. But appreciate your comment.
@@Beehive66 Tried that too. people watch the beginning and click away or skip to the end. I have however started doing written reviews to attach to these videos so that people could read those alternative. Those written reviews start with a summary and end with a summary and end with a conclusion .
@@Beehive66 I'm trying. I'm just saying, I didn't come out of the gate with BDE going, I know how to get clicks on video and turn this into a job. This started as a side effort to my blog, then as I steadily implemented the teachings of more successful channels it grew and I hated myself that little bit more each time. But I justify it now as. Why have a good video nobody will watch, instead of having a good video everyone will watch. All my videos could be 5 minutes long. but without justification and reasoning for every point. why shoudl anyone believe me. the worst ones are the negative reviews. Creality;s Mage S video which will be finished today is 30 minutes long becasue I say so much bad about it that i need to justify every point then justify my conclusion. And as I say in that video, that is worse for me. It takes longer to film, longer to edit, longer to consider so it costs more money to make. For a video that will actually not even earn me anything because after watching it, nobody will buy that printer! oh, and I actually had to buy that printer too! But I do it because its the right thing to do for the community. that's what helpos me justify my mild soul-selling to the RUclips Algorythm. and lets be fair, compared to many out there. this is pretty tame
"A giant leap for Creality," hmm so before I watch let me place a guess, they a) Made their own design, or b) stopped paying for reviews etc. Hmmmm idk which would be bigger for them. Lmao cReaLiTy, juSt M0d it.
Dude if you don't care about the specs why are you making a review about that printer? To show us your big head in front of it while it prints? Who cares. I'm not buying a printer because you feel it's fine, I want to know what's this and that.
I do care about the specs, but again there are different needs for different people. What I care about, this does and it does well. But when it comes to what others want to know for the sake of can I tweak this and add this code and can I swap to that hot end and all that jazz. No, not bothered. And those of us who want to focus on making prints to make cool things. We’re allowed reviewers too. I appreciate that traditional FDM printing was more involved. But that’s just not my channel. M106 P2 S{(layer_num < 1 ? 0 : 204)} ; Side fan to 80% after layer 1
It will turn on the side fan after the first layer is printed. The 204 is the speed percentage (204/255) = 0.8 or 80%. Prusaslicer I think gives better results than the Creality slicer, but that might just be my opinion.
I wonder if that will work in Orca too then.

By the nine, a review that's to the point without all the fluff. Great video!

@@andreas.grundler I'm pretty sure he meant that as an analogy not a literal direct comparison.
Just bought this. Can’t wait till it gets here!
You can get this one for 400 right now. I think it’s a great price. Looks like it will become my first printer.
if you do buy and this helps, i hope you can click my links. but yeah This is pretty awesome!
350 at micro center of you have one near you
I purchased a Creality K1 the other day for $370 when it was on sale to replace my current Creality Ender 3 V3 SE, I feel like I have gotten a great deal for something with high build and print quality that was originally $600!
I do care that it’s open source and appreciate you bringing it up
I like the way you reviewed this. I’m all over the place with my choices.
Thanks, Get a Bambu P1S and thank me after
thank god for reviewers like you. this is the only review I can relate to.
Complete newb to 3D printing and really like your videos as ive been researching. I particularly love the quote from the Bambu A1 & A1 mini vids: "I'm interested in creating, not tinkering".
That said: K1 or A1? Both are ~$400 USD.
Wow what an awesome and honest review! thank you, I have decided I will get this one for myself
Fantastic. Just be aware that there is an updated version of this called the K1C
This is pretty good
Can stop after Bambu Labs, since Creality just carbon copies good intellectual properties. cHiNa.
I hope no one does what Creality is doing and its k1 garbage
Wanna feel even less intimidated, Wait for my A1 Mini review
Had a K1 Max for a couple of months now... One thing I have done is add a filament heater to the side of the printer to ease the pain of changing filament. Subbed now and TY for the video :)
I just bought one of these for my son for Christmas. I hope it works well. I just want it to work!
I got the k1 max AI and love the thing. I have an upgraded ender 3 v2 and the k1 is night an day difference. Super fast, handles almost everything for you without me having to constantly adjust stuff. Print quality looks great as well. Still churning out new prints as we speak.
My ender 3 v2 just crapped out on me after 7 months. Nothing I do will fix it. I am looking at the K1 but wonder if I should get the max.
However i own Prusa printers too because sometimes i just want my print to well print
Love your reviews thanks for all that you do 🎉
I’m trying to make the best of it, but I’m not happy with my K1.
Since the latest round of updates, that K1 max is looking *mighty* tempting.
that review is coming soon, The LiDAR actually works and it;s pretty good.
love the k1, i have had it for around a year now know problem at all
I bought this as my first ever 3d printer as a pre-sale and I've had to sit through bedslinger fanboy reviews ad nauseum saying it's pure shit and scratching my head the entire time.
Looking forward to the K1 Max review!
I bought an ender3 v2 then upgraded it (just some things that imho should have been on the machine to begin with) then used it as a work horse (reliably) and bought a second printer that I kitted out fully lol so I am kinda in the middle, but my first ender just works it really is print and play.
I love your reviews, keep up the great work
honest review....I´m a K1Max user.
Your reviews are amazing. I don’t know what open source is either, I just want to print stuff!
The less faff the better. Solid video my dude!
you know, seeing that massive dredge marine just make me want to acquire the printer, and then print out Battletech minis in LARGE scale
Nice!
Do you remember or still have the profile you ran for the dredge marine?
I'm happy to see you are liking it. I wouldn't mine taking a look at one myself to go with my P1S.
I would do your research first, most of the reviews I have seen of the K1 have been negative - Ross' here is an exception.
Wow! I’m interested!!
Where did you get that Spider-Man / Venom model?
I have been looking for it too and I can't find it.
Enjoyed it thanks Ross
What is that model with the guy in the diving helmet with skulls on his shoulders? I love it. Where can I purchase the STL?
Yes I would like to know as well. That is a sick looking model.
I can print the files that come with the K1, buy I can't print any files that I have downloaded to the usb...it shows "no file available"
Thanks, for that. I wish more people had your appreciation.
I see this printer boasts of it's G-Sensor to eliminate ringing but video after video I look for ringing and it is always there. @2:32
Can I guy a K1 at microcenter with confidence that Id be getting the new iteration?
3rd option. I like doing both. Making and tweaking. Within reason
He needs to realize everyone doesn't see things the way Fauxhammer does.
He who?
Ok fair, less of a third option, more of a "both". But sure, if you enjoy the playing about with printers. But in all honestly what would you choose in this build area at this price point? Bed slinger or CoreXY, is yourc all. but what do you think is best for your use case?
he you Sir@@FauxHammer
@@ezyfnef I don't get what you mean then, I need to realise not everyone sees things the way I do? That was the whole point of me sharing my background at the beginning of the video? I'm not forcing this printer on everyone. I'm saying, for my use case, which others may share., this is great. Others may not share this use case, in which, This may not be the printer for them and i may not be the right reviewer for them.
I literally do this with every FDM video so as not to waste peoples time. Because I've "realised" that not everyone sees things the way I do?
So please help me understand your feedback?
Luv the do not care !!!
You can actually go to the browser and hit your printer's IP and it has a UI to manage the printer. No need to use the phone app!
Great review!
Thanks!
Where is that Spider Man model from??
I love my K1. It is such an amazing printer. It did have a rocky start as they probably rushed it. But after the extruder improvement on the next batch and the software updates, it is great.
I guess i got the next batch.
All fun and games but can we customize the Z axis offset on their resin printers yet? It's been a while now.
Yes, you can root the k1 now and put full klipper on it
Mine has been stopping mid print lately but thinking more about that it's the same print so possibly a bad file. Other than that I've run it hundreds of hours with 0 issues. It prints every pla I throw at it with no fuss. Just set it and forget it. Some stringing with certain brands since it likes to run 220-230 for every profile probably because it moves so fast but not a big deal.
My ender 3 has now been set to lithophane duty. I rarely print anything else with it.
Also on the lid it says not to use the lid if the room temperature is above a certain temp. I use the lid always because everyone in the house needs to sleep 😂
Fully open source means not only tinkering but also any slicer you want
I was hoping Bambu would bring out a larger printer but that did not happen. Seems I don't have a choice apart from the K1 Max. But then with 3 printers and one of them being a CR10s am still on the fence.
How long can you hold off?
QIDI Max3 bigger than K1 Max, better printing precision, chamber heating
I am looking at QIDI MAX 3 the big killer I see is being closed source. So what happen in a year or so if you need replacement parts.@@mohistschool1003
what's the model at 0031 seconds
Creality low quality parts is still a issue?
Nothing here felt particularly low quality. But watch a few reviews
I prefer to say, "My hobby isn't 3D printing, it is modding 3D printers."
Yeah, someone said it like this the other day. Much more concise
Well.. im the same type of person but the only thing that i have to point out is the app. It is really big + for me due to the slicer in the app.. i dont have a computer available and the idea that i can just download an stl into my phone, slice it and then send it to my printer to print anywhere im well yeah.. thats the thing i need altho i do agree on the point of its being super non intuitive etc.
I suppose it has that. But glad you agree about the UI
I'm 100% with you!
I'm kicking myself for letting a $379 Microcenter price go by without grabbing one of these.
I actually stopped by a microcenter and they had a returned one. I ended up talking them into selling it to me with the discount. If the sale happens again then it's probably best to pick it up then since it would be the upgraded model.
We don't have that shop here but wow, that seems like Crazy good price!
It's $350 right now. Best Buy will price match too (or at least they did for me).
@@troyg2986 Greatly appreciate the info m8!
@@troyg2986 had no idea Best Buy carried 3D printers. Haven't been in one of their stores for about five or six years, I would guess.
This just went on sale for $350 USD so now I'm wondering why 😝
Overcharging in the first place. But that is a steal of a price!
@@FauxHammer Yeah
I snagged one and I love it!
First k1, failed in a week. Waited 6 weeks for parts and months for the apology hop up kits. Sold it. First max, came broken, second max... Also broken.. It's not worth it of you are trying for reliability
Even the UI is a copy of Bambu Lab's UI
Hardly, Bambu UI is much much better than this
i´m waiting for a idex or toolchanger at a affordable price range thats fast and smooth like the K1, but also affordable, under 1K or around it, nope...not a bambu with AMS!
Open source should allow for someone to create a replacement phone app that won't rely on the seedy content that Creality use on their app.
I’m not sure why I’d buy this over the Bambu. I’ll gladly pay a few hundred bucks for something that can calibrate itself and just work.
What Im thinking about:
1. Bambu lab A1 with AMS (499 EURO)
++++ price
+ multicolor
- missing enclosure/ not build well for DIY enclosure
2. Bambu lab P1S (AMS later but price of AMS itself is huge in comparisons P1S combo) (600 Euro or 850 Euro with AMS
+- price
+ enclosure, cooling, air filters
+ AMS with closed environment and protections from humidity
- price of AMS if is not in combo purchase
Price difference between P1P and P1S is to small (40 EURO), to miss inbuild cooling system and air filter already builded
3. Creality K1 MAX AI (634 EURO)
++ price
+ enclosure
+++ volume
--- no chance of multicolor (at the moment, later price of CMS? Price of upgrade for CMS? Maybe to much…)
4. Prusa MK4 kit + MMU3 kit (unfortunally price is to high for me at the moment)
What I do not like on AMS (CMS as well) is amount of waste. To be honest approach of MMU3 from Prusa is much better, would like have possibility use it on bambu or creality printer... This is for me big deal breaker, and reason why I hesitate. It is not so big to say "ok go for K1 or P1S without AMS" and it is not so small, to say "Ok go for A1 or P1S with AMS"
Any recommendation which one buy?
Just get Orca slicer. Much easier
How can you do a review and not discuss printing with other elements like petg, abs and asa?
Like I just did, I'm reviewing for people who wnat these basic functions easily. Everyone is not everything for everyone, and that is ok. there are plenty of other reviewers covering this stuff in detail.
I cover user experience.
I’m don’t want to tweek . I just want it to work
Same
It's a copy of the x1c with a c name
Personally, no matter how good their printers are, i would not support Creality or Anycubic for the next ~5 years. Those greedy companies have lost my trust.
I can understand that. I try to remain impartial and focussed on the product as I have no experience with their support. But from what I generally hear. Yeah. You’re not wrong to feel the way you do based on your experience
"I noticed it was quieter with the top on!? What? The? ????
Yeah, me too. But it’s still loud
The k1 is such a good printer for people that just want to skip the fuss and get a high quality print for a cheap price. It's crazy how far we've come in the printing world lol
I’ve had one for a week or more and I can’t even get a decent first layer. Even at 0.00
Is this not a Bambu rip off? And if so, just get a Bambu? I've had several Creality printers over the years and I wonder how long they will support this for....
Hance my point at the end, if they continue to support it. I mean, yeah I agree. That $150 more for the P1P is worth it, but do people have that to spend.
Agreed. Does feel like a bit of quick cash in. "Oh look, another company is doing something people want. We can do that! Cheaper". Time will tell 😊
K1 vs P1S is a big difference in price for a small difference in performance. If money is no object, then sure... but I think Creality know they have a market here. Not a bad first stab at this, either. It's almost like they've made FDM printers before.
@@GoodEggGuy exactly
@@rendez2k yeah, the software side shows how much of a quick chase to catch up on the hardware side this is, hence the "they are learning" rather than "Bambu Competitor" because it can't compete with Bambu. I'm ordering a Bambu P1s and P1P just to make the videos proving this.
yeah, the app is brutal

CREALITY IN EUROPE NEVER! There is no technical assistance in the EU. If you really need support, you will be in trouble.
Their rule is that the customer has to make the repairs.
I had to file a complaint with European Union customer support.
Thats not learning, thats copying...
Well they learned that they need to up their game in terms of hardware and actually put "some" effort into user experience. But yeah, fair point...
I just don't appreciate all the pathos in these types of reviews. Just give me the information straight. 15 minutes could be 5 easily.

@@FauxHammer Well played sir.
But I do it because its the right thing to do for the community. that's what helpos me justify my mild soul-selling to the RUclips Algorythm. and lets be fair, compared to many out there. this is pretty tame
the worst printer I ever owned. I had to give the pos away to get rid of that shit box
Great printer, horrible app.
"A giant leap for Creality," hmm so before I watch let me place a guess, they a) Made their own design, or b) stopped paying for reviews etc. Hmmmm idk which would be bigger for them. Lmao cReaLiTy, juSt M0d it.
I don't know if they stopped paying for reviews, but they haven't paid for this one.
Those who want what I want from a printer will appreciate this. But it’s not intended for everybody
