Good video, finally someone who not only talks, but also shows how the machine works in real time, I needed a video like that to show the printer. Helps you make a decision regarding purchasing it
I got one for Black Friday for $350. Two issues that need to be addressed. First is the filament tube has hard bends that produce extrusion inconsistencies with normal filament (mine came with the new/upgraded steel extruder and i updated the firmware to v1.3.2.20), which is a simple fix of taking it out of the cable chain and loosely zip tying it to the top of the cable chain every few inches. Second is the lid is too close to said tube and should be raised by at least 5mm, would recommend it be a sealed TPU spacer to help with ABS type prints that require the chamber to be warm. Otherwise it's a beautiful set and forget type of machine for most people. Unfortunately there's a deal breaker if you're planning to print very precise parts. The idler bearings on the carriage aren't parallel. This means that when the printer head moves close to either end of X axis it warps the dimensions of the print by changing the angle of the belt. I measured consistently 0.4-0.9% 90 degree warp on 50mm calibration part printed at each corner, sides, and center (printed at 200mm/s, 5K accel). That made me return it unfortunately. You also need to root it to be able to apply a manual pressure advance settings and have full access to klipper on the printer, or but the lidar to activate the function My good ol trustily rectilinear printer which i squared, trammed, plumbed, and spit shined has >0.02% on both 90% parts and 45% parts at each corner and side. Which honestly kind of shocked me, but i did spend a LOT of time and effort in making sure everything was squared as good as possibly using a caliper and quality square. Printed at 250mm/s (4K accel) Last issue 😅the hot-end seems to lack thermal mass, after tuning the hot end a few times i still saw the temp jump +/- 3c. There shouldn't be z-banding on a machine with a single z motor and 3 point belted lead screws (copy of Bambu's bed design) and i saw for too much consistently random z banding, which was telling me possible inconsistent extrusion from fluctuating hotend temps. But that's more of a guess. Saw that on normal White PLA printed at 230c
They have fixed some of the issues. They redesigned the extruder which fixes the under extrusion problem . People who have already purchased one can purchase the new extruder, new hot end kit for like $3.00. It's only available for a short time though . They also said that they're going to unlock it so you can use Klipper on it but they haven't done it yet.
Looks fantastic! I finally gave up on my ender 5 s1...I'd level it before every print and somehow could never get it to work. I think....I'm going to give 3d printing a few more years before I try again.
Dang. Sorry you've had bad luck with your 5s1. I just got a refurbished unit from Creality and 40 prints in and haven't had a single issue. Im also using a Sonic Pad. What kind of problems were you having with your 5s1 if I may ask?

I have a question, i just ordered the ELEGOO Neptune 3 Pro 3D Printer, its my first printer. All i got with it was the filaments, nothing extra. Do you think that was a good choice as i am on a budget and its my first printer? Do you have any tips and recommendations? I dont know how to use the settings, are they easy? I will definitely watch your video on it a second time when I receive the printer
Excellent video. I found your honest approach and openness was extremely helpful, so thank you for that. Can I just ask, did you ever find out what caused the failed print and subsequent damage to your build plate?
THE FIRST 51 MINUTES OF THIS VIDEO WAS USELESS! I WAS YESLLING AT THE SCREEN, THE FIRST THING YOU DO WITH ANY PRINTER SINCE 3D PRINTING STARTED IS MAKE SURE THE LATEST FIRMWARE IS INSTALLED. THAT IS THE OUT OF BOX EXPERIENCE TO SETUP WIFI DURING SETUP AND UPDATE FIRMWARE. YOU FINALLY UPDATED FIRMWARE @ 51 MINUTES INTO VIDEO. GOOD JOB!
I got one planing on doing some 3d printing stuff for my channel nothing but problems and Creality is unwilling to help with returns I’d stay away from for the time being till all the issues are worked out
Simple means less to go wrong. I'm not keen on the phrase, I don't know what it's doing. I still use paper and a vernier to set bed levels and apart from putting Z off set in the gcode, it's very straightforward. Simple is simple to fix and complicated is sometimes terminal.
So even with auto leveling it has a chance to fail??? Also was the video sped up or was it real printing that fast??? It looked a little cartoony to be real 😅
My experience was a little different, I found that there is no toll-free support phone number to call, you have to use chat support. I had 4 different incognito support chat windows open since the morning which extended passed 1 in the afternoon and all chats auto closed on me and asked me to leave an email instead. I am a cyber security person by day and I have to say their support is negatively impactful and you might as well have a brick for a printer WHEN it malfunctions. Great features and all but not if they don't work.
Mine came with an stl file called ... Prevent Filament Entanglement, any insight on what it might be would be awesome... I have scoured the internet and cant find any info about
Sighs I bought a K1 two weeks ago and just returned it to microcenter and bought a Bambi x1c instead. It was just… a mix of delightful prints, and configuration hell. Orca made it easier (Creality print is garbage, utter garbage- who is it for? Everyone who knows what they’re doing hates it because everything is hidden 3-5 clicks deep in hidden dialog boxes and advanced toggles, and novice users will have no clue what to do because it’s so unintuitive - icons with no tool tips etc.) the biggest issue I ran into was trying to change filament on purpose on a single model to get certain layers a different color. It respects a PAUSE command but there was no way to get it to purge without messing up the print in progress, so not only did it take 10 minutes to swap filament - you’d have 2-3 hard lines of plastic on top of your model ruining it. Just terrible support from them, all of the profiles were user created. I rooted it and it only got more complicated
Good, long review, the point made about 'New' and 'First' 600mm printer for this company was made. I have an Ender3 V2 Nano, it works but at 74 I'm running out of time.... The thing I missed on this device is an exhaust external attachment, ABS smells like crap, with the K1 I don't need to buy a cabinet or add wiring and software for the camera.
@cheizaguirre5494 actually awesome. Went and got another 2 AMS units today. I must be honest, after the K1 disappointment I was sceptical but VERY happy. I recommend it
@cheizaguirre5494 I use Fusion360. I used tonuse Rhino when I was doing cnc stuff, now I use fusion for everything because it also integrates with Eagle CAD foe electronics
Bought one about six months ago. No big deal, but I still haven't plugged it in. I use the cloud for nothing, worthless in my view. I don't have any mobile phone, so the printer is now doubly useless. Using Ender 3 V2, I have three and they all work pretty reliably. But this thing, the K1 is probably never going to be anything but spare parts for a guy that wants to build a CNC mill or whatever. Junk by any other description is trash, and that's were it's going.
The K1 was just rushed out, I'd rather have my Bambu becuase I works so well and If you turn most of the calibration off it goes perfect every time. I have the X1C so the printer uses the lidar to check the first layer and calibrate the filliment but I do the calibration before hand due to the fact I want to do it myself to get the best result and so It does not need to do it every time. Every print its checks to make sure that there is the correct bulid plate installed. It only does bed leveling but only does a new mesh if the 5 points are out by a certan amount and checks the first layer using the lidar. Also the K1 does not support MMU and it cleans the nozzle but no as well as the bambu.
I'll pass on this printer. Proprietary software and hardware is not a direction we should support. You can't change a bad driver or upgrade them if you want, because they are glued in place. Some of the key bearings (Z) can't be replaced when they wear out. Bamboo and Creality are following the Apple and Microsoft anti-consumer business model. Do you really own it if you can't fix it? I can't understand why the creators reviewing these printers are fine with these things. "That's the way things are now" These new practices go completely against the idea of being a maker.

It heavily depends on what kind of maker you are. I create electronics and use 3D printers to print enclosures and functional parts. It is not my business to tinker with 3D printers, but to use them. So for me a Bambu Lab is the right choice. It is a consumer product like a TV and I certainly don‘t wanna repair or upgrade TVs though I could.
I don't understand the hate of recent companies developing the new kind of 3D printers that can be on par with many industrial 3D printers. On one hand, it is very fun to buy a cheap printer, mod it to your liking, and constantly tinkering it. But on the other hand, the convenience and the amount of time you are going to save by buying these next gen printers is really worth the money. I'm also a maker (currently an engineering student) I love my ender 3 v2. It served me well as i mod and print with it for countless of hours. But there are times that I don't have the time nor resources to mod it prior to an encountered problem that makes my printer inoperable at the moment. I just want to print something or my prototypes out of the box, no tinkering, no fuss, etc.. just pure printing. After all, 3D printing is invented solely for rapid prototyping and manufacturing. If you enjoy 3D printing as your own hobby, then have fun and be yourself, but to gatekeep 3D printing to the people who want to enter this space buy purchasing the next gen printers so that they can have an easier time printing, and less time dealing with all of the bullshit, just wtf?

Thus, I am very sceptical about this printer and thus also about RUclips videos which celebrate the K1.
