I'm just an regular car owner and have had my new car a couple of months now and have been trying to find a decent video to help me learn some professional tricks when washing it and looking after the paintwork etc. This is by far the best video if found, and I don't feel so scared about using a polish/ glaze. 👍👍👍
Thank you very much for your kind words 🙏. Glazes are totally safe and really do enhance the paint. Just remember to give the bottle a very good shake before each use
I only started getting my car valeted in 2015 when I bought a Skoda Octavia Hatchback on an 07 plate and the cars paintwork was absolutely immaculate and really the first car I'd ever owned worth spending the time and money on ... In 2023 I moved to a Skoda Superb in an even better condition and still have it looked after although I've had it ceramic coated to make it easier for myself to look after her but out of all the companies I've used only one has ever cleaned inside the fuel filler flap and hes the bloke I'm sticking with
Every thing is EPIC with this video son. A very useful guide for all and up coming entrepreneurs who are thinking about giving this career ago. Plus a nice guide to helping those weekend warriors who are looking how to make their pride and joy stand out. Well done. Dad

@@epicautomotivedetailing agreed. I don't understand why anyone is a fan of car washes. Expensive and scratch yards tbh. Rather have a dirty car until I have the time to do it myself properly. Even a lazy prewash and blast down with a pressure washer is better than a hand wash.
That was one of the most thorough explanations of what it actually means to detail a car I’ve ever heard-and trust me-I’m a HUGE enthusiast and at home detailer myself-you would be GREAT at being an instructor, as knowledgeable and logical as you are-❤
Just started a job valeting today and you're videos are going to help I know what I'm doing but tips like these are vital, thanks very much for these videos
Thanks for that video. Entering one of our cars for a classic show tomorrow. Done zero preparation (was working away arrived today, long story). Plenty of useful good tips here so I can wake up and spend 1.5 hrs tomorrow morning making it look half decent.
Brilliant video Dave and I agree with you about most drivers’ perception of a ‘valeted’ car…. most of them would struggle to even see or appreciate the extra steps which take you on to a ‘detail’. I’d leave detailing for customers who understand it and more importantly are willing to pay for and enjoy that next level of treatment. I’ve done a few 8-hour heavy jobs for friends and have felt disappointed when they didn’t even notice some of the detailed enhancements I’d carried out 😢
I find gravity helps when brushing , agirating mats, either hang then rotate them aftwr each brushing, or brush them whilst they are upside down. You can also use sunshine to remove many stains on light coloured materials. Lily brushes are also good for agitation...
What a well made video. The explanations are well articulated and presented as such. I only watched this for interest to look after our brand new van but now inspired to buy product and give it a go. Many thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Thank you so much. I know I my not always be right in the eyes of Detailers but I feel its always best to share what i personally experienced after 16+ years of being in the industry and its always done me proud
100% correct as usual. It's also known as Detailing here in Australia. You have a basic pack and a "full" detail which is everything. Various options are very broad from business to business. Cheers.
I work for a company in the UK called "SVS" (specialist valeting services), we are contracted to the car dealerships and wow, i can't say how much i agree with this video, im just a "valeter", but what these car folks don't understand, each car needs a different cleaning method and each car is in a different condition... it's so frustrating because dealerships think a full valet can be done in 1 or 2 hours (2 hours if absolutely disgusting)... but just the start of this video explains, clay barring, polishing, engine bay cleaning, fall out, wheel cleaner, steam cleaning carpets etc... and this is why a lot of car valeters quit their jobs, as they are under appreciated. i too have thought so many times about quitting, but what else is out there where i travel the uk... almost nothing.

Another quality video Dave 👌 When cleaning the engine bay on a new car are the electrics more protected as want to keep it clean but afraid of getting the electrics wet & knackering the car. Cheers 👍
Thank you, every car is different so its hard to define one method that fits all but im exploring a new method of using a tornador for an engine bay clean soon so that could be interesting
There are a few ways of removing tar but beginners may spend too much time faffing during the wash process in the direct sunlight for example so it could be overwhelming for them. By using this method after its dried you can still achieve removal of the tar by being careful and working one step at a time so its actually easier
Another great informative video dave, it’s nice to go back to basics as nowadays there’s so many different techniques and people prefer their own methods over what someone else would prefer? Would you be able to do a video on how to clean headlining safely ? Cant wait for the next video 👍.
Hello Ian, yes 100% I cover it in my interior detailing video but I think I need to explore a few more new methods but definitely want to make a dedicated video
Have you ever tired auto smart tardis , that’s always been my go to tar remover and it’s works fantastic, but even more importantly it’s by far the cheapest tar remover , it may have rose in price like everything else but bought 5 litres from my auto smart rep for £19 couple years ago
Out of interest Dave, how much would you have charged for that service if it were a paying customer? Love your vids btw, very clear and informative, one of my goto channel’s 👍
Valeting is a good way to make big money if you do it right. 90% of customers on the roads today just want a nice clean car, not all the fancy ceramic coatings and extra's that the higher end car owners want. Most people have a normal (affordable) car that the masses drive and just want to keep it clean and shiny which does increase the resale value by a lot because you have kept your vehicle valeted for it's entire life and it's clean and in good condition when (or if) you sell the vehicle. Of course this only works if the customer is a regular and truly keeps their vehicle clean for it's entire life. Even if you did this type of valeting two to three times per year, you would keep your vehicle in pristine condition throughout it's life! I had a take home police vehicle for about 25+ years when I was a cop and i would do a full "valet" on my patrol car at home about every 3 or 4 months with maintenance wipe downs and cleanings in between. My patrol cars were always sought after at the auctions after it was time to switch them out for new ones due to end of life cycle as it was in like new condition, even after 150,000 to 200,000 miles!. Taxi cab companies would buy them and use them for many more years. It doesn't take much to keep your vehicle in great condition. By simply doing a quick vacuum and wiping down the interior with an interior product for all surfaces like Soft 99 Was Mist+ and you will be good to go for many months to complement the valet you just paid for. Get the Valet repeated every few months and your vehicle will stay pristine for a long time. It's just simple, 10 minutes worth of maintenance per week with a vacuum (Hoover), and a quick wipe down to keep the valet going a lot longer. A product like Wash Mist+ can even tackle the windows (along with all the other surfaces inside), with light cleaning and a slightly clean and fresh scent left behind and your interior looking fresh and factory (matte) showroom appearance on the leather and plastics. A further product I would highly recommend that's fairly affordable is their So2PUR which has no scent but kills any odor inside your vehicle and leaves behind no scent. A quick spray down (if you do have odors) will tackle that, and you will have a quick clean interior with only a few useful products. I just wish Soft 99 sold Wash Mist+ in a gallon format in concentrate form. Detailers would probably use it more for quick wipe downs if it was available in concentrate gallon form to make it economical for the valeter or detailer.
Hello Dave from Australia 🙃 Good video mate and how's life treating you? All looks great in your new unit a very tidy professional layout for customers to see.
Help needed! I've bought my own kit so I can start washing my car and my parents car at home, because I'm sick of finding scratches and mad swirl marks around the bodywork. After washing both cars I've noticed chips on the front of the bonnets (there were a some dotted around the rest of the car but more prevalent on the bonnet). I'm wondering if this is to do with washing the car from too close? I did try to keep a good distance at all times. The only other thing I can think of is we have recently washed the drive and there are loose stones around. Could it have been the stones being picked up by the water?
My freind and i started a detailing buisness last year and we had to stop because it got cold but when we go back i noticed it takes us forever to clean a car not to mention we dont have proper tools any advice and how much do you normally charge to detaili a vehicle on average
Should I charge for interior cleaning separately or make on price for the exterior combined? Or one price for the interior and one price for the exterior?
I saw you show a GT4 when you mentioned supercars. As a GT4 owner I wouldn't let any detailer clean my engine bay... Because you'd need to lower the engine out of the car to even see it 😂
Love the videos sir, congratulations great content again, thanks for anything you do for the industry i admire you. At the clay bar issue, personally speaking, i always clay the car ( combined with iron decon) independent if i polish or no after. I am aware for any marring, BUT, the paint is really clean and completely smooth after the clay bar service, witch a customer can feal immediately. If any marring happen usually means that the paint was heavily contaminated and probably already swirled up. But even in this scenario when i apply a common wax with a simple DA and a simple wax ( red/black) application pad, usually remove any potential marring on the spot. That is my point of view... Again congratulations sir, keep up. My kind regards
Nice one thanks for the comment. Really appreciate it. I just hope beginners just watch this and not feel like they have to invest heavily on a polisher. That all comes in time
ummm im divided on this one lol Im not a pro, but am interested in starting something myself, and I dont think i would be offering this as a service. Perhaps you can tell me how many cars you would do this for in 1 day and what returns it would yield? I would be more interested in detailing than valet, but i think a balance of both would be ideal. But hand touching a car like that for probably not much money ... its not worth it is it? What about using spray on protections that are done wet.. like Koch Chemie Pw ProtectorWax... or a cheaper spray wax? Be far more efficient with time wouldnt it and give the same time of protection most likely.. I mean you wouldnt use a very expensive wax for this job, so again i would say use a product in a lance or spray it on and wipe off to save time. Valet people arent car nuts....are they ? If someone knows about detailing, they tend to know about or care about cars, and therefore you would use a different method of care and products... its not just about correction? Clay mits/towels are great for maintenance washes and leave no marring... in my experience anyway, so a correction isnt something to worry about with those. And If i were to use a clay bar for a valet, then i just wouldnt risk it.. and it would be a detailing job.. period. Maybe this is where myself as a weekend warrior and not a pro comes in... because my conscience is about my own cars and friends cars.. not about running a business and making profits. Great vid anyway... and I like your openness about what you do and how you want to offer the advice!
Real question. A full valet would eat up how much of your time? Ive been practicing on friends/family cars to see my average time. Im spending about 1.t hrs on interior with extracr vac and interior wipedown. And about an 1.5 hours with the external wash if i go over with wax at the end and hit up the trims. Am i moving too slow on average?
id say your doing well. Every car is different. Back when i was in my 20's i could sometime do maintenance cleans in 1 - 1.5 hours but now its getting tougher so im now more like 2-2.5 hours
got to be honest, I completely struggle with the concept of doing a s little as possible for as much money as possible. my packages are OTT in what they include and that's where I struggle to sell them as they are priced accordingly. I cant bring myself to be like a typical valeter
A couple of red flags when starting out. "What's your cheapest price" "It's not too bad" "If you do this one for cheap I have loads more for you" Don't be afraid to say no and walk away.
That was great. You're so lucky to still have a Nan. Look after her mate.

Thanks so much!
Really enjoy your videos
Love your honesty and advice
I love car cleaning and your tips make things that little bit easier.
Look forward to the next video:)
Thanks Jonathon sorry for late replies. Still catching up now
Interesting video. What is that big blue towel you're using to dry off the bodywork? Is it an extra large microfibre cloth?
Great video. So smooth in front of the camera.
Thanks mate
Nice one Dave great advice there top man the car looked great.
Thank you for your kind words 🙏
Another quality video Dave 👌
When cleaning the engine bay on a new car are the electrics more protected as want to keep it clean but afraid of getting the electrics wet & knackering the car. Cheers 👍
Thank you, every car is different so its hard to define one method that fits all but im exploring a new method of using a tornador for an engine bay clean soon so that could be interesting
@Epic Automotive Detailing
Looking forward to it 👍
Cracking video! So can I check - tar remover doesn’t need to be washed off? You just wipe of with a towel?
There are a few ways of removing tar but beginners may spend too much time faffing during the wash process in the direct sunlight for example so it could be overwhelming for them. By using this method after its dried you can still achieve removal of the tar by being careful and working one step at a time so its actually easier
Another absolute quality video, yet again. I'd also happily pay you to valet or detail my wife's new car!
Thanks Jon 😁
Fantastic video as always Dave
Thanks Eamon thats very kind of you to say
Dave could you tell me how long it took with filming the whole process? Great job as always mate 👍👍👍👍👍
Hello it took me a day. Thankfully the studio helps me with getting better sound which is the biggest problem for filming
Fantastic video! Did you use clay bar before the glaze? And if not, is there any advantage for doing so or is it not recommended at all?
Thanks!
Great job there Dave with great info.
Thanks very much mate
Great vid. Grandma’s lucky to have u 😅
What’s the best microfibre towel to use?
I use a variety. Twisted loop are my current go to towels. They are practically the same in terms of quality
Another fantastic and informative video Dave
And you should do Nans car every week now mate
Lol I don't even get to clean my own car 🚗
Hello Dave from Australia 🙃
Good video mate and how's life treating you?
All looks great in your new unit a very tidy professional layout for customers to see.
Thanks mate. I've put a home gym in it now and a dart board so it's more of a man cave 😄
@@epicautomotivedetailing Can't go wrong with a man cave😀
@@mag1vl tax deductible too 😂
@@epicautomotivedetailing Ah ha even better🤑
Great video as always, do you offer a detailing service to the public if so how do i go about getting in touch, 😊
Thank Trevor. Sorry I can't take any more clients on due to other commitments 🙏
What make is your jet wash pal? Great vid btw
Thanks mate this is Ava p57
Love your videos, great job. Thanks!
Alright Dave recently subscribed love your videos and content do you not use jizer for heavily greased door shuts and engine grease .
Thanks so much. I mainly use citrus pre wash for greasy door shuts
Fantastic video, valuable info cheers mate
Thank you
The strategy of marketing that you applied towards the end of the video, getting the customers reaction.
Customer? That's my Nan 😂
Fantastic tips and advice. Thank you.
Hopefully I will be getting a Peugeot 408 but it has rather large black plastic bumper what should I use to keep it looking good.
I use infinity wax plastic coat
People could think I am mad...but...the fiat punto is a wonderful car.
Nothing mad about it. It actually looks quite nice, good shape this one
It's most probably just stone chips from the road. You have to hold pressure washer in paint for a long time to remove the paint
My freind and i started a detailing buisness last year and we had to stop because it got cold but when we go back i noticed it takes us forever to clean a car not to mention we dont have proper tools any advice and how much do you normally charge to detaili a vehicle on average
Hi with the wheel/ tire cleaner will I be ok to use it on newly painted alloys?
For example, If you detailed a car exactly like in the video, how much would you charge?
Should I charge for interior cleaning separately or make on price for the exterior combined? Or one price for the interior and one price for the exterior?
I saw you show a GT4 when you mentioned supercars. As a GT4 owner I wouldn't let any detailer clean my engine bay... Because you'd need to lower the engine out of the car to even see it 😂
Hi is using drying aid (ceramic spray) when drying is a must to achieve screatch free drying?
Btw in using twisted loopd drying towel
It's not a must but it can help ever so slightly.
That all comes in time
@@epicautomotivedetailing keep up sir.
Iv got the cla 45 Matt black alloys, which is the best wheel cleaner for these? Just worried about if tge matt look would peel off!
ummm im divided on this one lol
Im not a pro, but am interested in starting something myself, and I dont think i would be offering this as a service.
It's all worth it making your nana blown away with the results ...
Yeah she was well happy
Great video dave 😊😊😊
Thanks mate
got to be honest, I completely struggle with the concept of doing a
s little as possible for as much money as possible. my packages are OTT in what they include and that's where I struggle to sell them as they are priced accordingly. I cant bring myself to be like a typical valeter
Wax, polish or glaze to a personal car, I'm going to wash every 2-4 weeks?
Which sprayer are you using to apply the citrus pre wash.
Hi there my epic comrade....where can I get the big blur drying towel from please....any links/discount would be muchly appreciated
Lee
Hiya this was yum cars twisted loop towel
Great video!
The only bad thing is that with the English climate, the next day the car is filthy
Any advice on a good hard/Water spot remover? Cheers
Hello g techniq water spot remover is excellent
@@epicautomotivedetailing appreciated 👍
A couple of red flags when starting out.
"What's your cheapest price"
"It's not too bad"
"If you do this one for cheap I have loads more for you"
Don't be afraid to say no and walk away.
Big red flags those ones 🔴
