    He is aware of his thick accent, so he now tries to speak slower, even I had trouble in the beginning of his career. The more you watch, the more you start to understand.

      I love the Bus Stop one and you're right, depending on where he is, he tries to slow it down a bit. If he spoke in his normal Glasgow accent a lot of people would be totally lost. Most of us from Glasgow have to slow down a bit and articulate when talking to others. I haven't lived there for close to 55years. I live in Canada and it was fun to speak so fast that Canadians could not understand. Usually when we were talking about somebody who was right beside us, like on a bus. LOL

    Kevin Bridges is an observational comedian. He doesn't make jokes about farts or mothers-in-law, which have their place, he makes jokes about things we all see and points out the humour in that.
    Billy Connolly was supreme in his day, but Kevin Bridges is the heir apparent as the King of Scottish comedy.

    Kevin is 100% correct about not so "social media" and how much of a soul destroying void it is.
    I've not had any FB or Twitter for over 10 years, never had IG or Snapchat or anything like them, and life is so much better without any of that!
    I'd grown up, left school and had been in work for 2 years before mobile phones were even a thing, so by time we had the Internet and subsequently unsocial media, I'd become a stable, responsible adult. All I saw in my brief time on FB and Twitter was adults regressing into petulant children, and children growing up living their lives vicariously through their apps.
    "But what about keeping in touch with family and friends, especially those far away?"
    I'm a bloke. I go with the flow, so if I don't see or speak to someone in 5 years, I don't need constant status updates about what they had for breakfast or what their next-door neighbour got their p*nis stuck in.
    I have a phone, de-googled. No antisocial media apps at all.
    Life is just better.

    • @cockoffgewgle4993

      They're fine to keep in touch with people (if you're messaging them directly). But beyond that, they're addictive and pointless. eg. I have one friend who we just send each other random RUclips videos and shit every so often.
      I was a 90s kid, so I feel like I got the real sweet spot re: technology. I didn't get the internet until I was around 16. Had games consoles and a PC throughout my childhood, a mobile phone around age 13, but also spent half my childhood outdoors, riding bikes, playing football, playing games and doing everything a child should do.
      Plus, TV is just as bad. Arguably worse.

    My Nana was a massive part of my, my family & my children's lives and we lost her 5 year ago. Every time it's her birthday or the day she died I post about her. It's not for likes etc, it's a day to remember the amazing Woman with the rest of my family and people who knew her. I get that Kevin's situation is slightly different, on about someone constantly posting about it but 6 year ago I laughed at the joke, since my Nana died I don't cos, firstly I'm pretty much who he's taking the piss out of lol, but secondly you don't know how a death hits you until it does, and posting about my Nana on her birthday or the day she died is a small little bit of therapy for me where people can make me smile about her with an anecdote rather than me being sad that I'll never get to hear her lovely laugh again on a Friday night.

    That is the magic of Kevin Bridges; a totally down-to-earth, relatable guy who is absolutely hilarious - but his comedy also makes you think, because he's an incredibly smart man. Another routine of his (found in the video 'Kevin Bridges on Britain's Deficit') is absolutely hysterical - and yet, as you'll see in the comments, a lot of his jokes about how he'd fix the economy are backed up by leading ecomonists that what he suggests *would actually work, for real,* if they were implemented. Can thoroughly recommend that one, along with 'Bus Stop.'

    Kevin does not need views. He's performing to hundreds in the audience and has DVD's earning him £millions (that's more than dollars, by the way) We are talking 'smackeroos'.

    When I was on Facebook, one thing I hated was when a friends would post something like "Oh god I can't believe this is happening, it's awful, I'm going to lose everything." and I and others would post "what's happening, do you need help?" and they wouldn't reply, and a week later they would be posting as if they never made that previous post.

    • @kevinmulligan9055
      @kevinmulligan9055 Год назад

      Yup know the post it would often end with one friend saying why what's up and they saying "pm" I'm like why not just pm your fecking friend in the first place instead of all the drama and not telling anyone what about. I have now just started to day thus right out to them all. I find myself now on fb just pulling people up on their bullshit. Its become me thing to do like the drama is their thing. I guess we all find our happy place

    He's Glaswegian like me, ye ken?
    Jings! Crivvens! - some folk dinnae ken real English - it's a scunner!
    We jeest had the Burn's night.
    We drink whisky and eat haggis in the name of Scotland's greatest poet, Robert Burns.
    He wrote one of the greatest works of poetry ever made.
    Address to a Haggis:
    "Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
    Great chieftain o the puddin'-race!
    Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
    Painch, tripe, or thairm:
    Weel are ye wordy o' a grace
    As lang's my arm.
    The groaning trencher there ye fill,
    Your hurdies like a distant hill,
    Your pin wad help to mend a mill
    In time o need,
    While thro your pores the dews distil
    Like amber bead.
    His knife see rustic Labour dight,
    An cut you up wi ready slight,
    [at this point, the host cuts the sheep's stomach containing the haggis]
    Trenching your gushing entrails bright,
    Like onie ditch;
    And then, O what a glorious sight,
    Warm-reekin, rich!
    Then, horn for horn, they stretch an strive:
    Deil tak the hindmost, on they drive,
    Till a' their weel-swall'd kytes belyve
    Are bent like drums;
    The auld Guidman, maist like to rive,
    'Bethankit' hums.
    Is there that owre his French ragout,
    Or olio that wad staw a sow,
    Or fricassee wad mak her spew
    Wi perfect scunner,
    Looks down wi sneering, scornfu view
    On sic a dinner?
    Poor devil! see him owre his trash,
    As feckless as a wither'd rash,
    His spindle shank a guid whip-lash,
    His nieve a nit;
    Thro bloody flood or field to dash,
    O how unfit!
    But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed,
    The trembling earth resounds his tread,
    Clap in his walie nieve a blade,
    He'll make it whissle;
    An legs an arms, an heads will sned,
    Like taps o thrissle.
    Ye Pow'rs, wha mak mankind your care,
    And dish them out their bill o fare,
    Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware
    That jaups in luggies:
    But, if ye wish her gratefu prayer,
    Gie her a Haggis"
    Now you know enough Scottish to watch Ewan McGregor's breakthrough role in "Trainspotting" - almost like a junkie "Inbetweeners", but from Scotland.

    Scottish translator here. The 5 seconds or so that passed you by (although I'll add in a little extra for the benefit of any other bewildered Muppets) were, "when she was alive, she never knew how to put the central heating on. Do you think she's died, went up to Heaven and somebody's presented her with an iPad upon arrival? Do you think your Gran's done an IT course? Do you think there's courses in Heaven to pass the time, since it is eternal? Oh, fuck it, I'll do a six week IT course. Do you think your Gran is asking St Peter for the Wi-fi password up in Heaven? St Peter: " aye, it's on the wall sweetheart ... Paradise ... the s is a 5."
