It’s rare you get to see a legend evolve in the flesh before their tale is written, stamped, and told. God given natural talent, endless practice, or a few trips to the crossroads I don’t know.... doesn’t really matter, but comparing him to Cash doesn’t quite capture his sound. One day when they say the name Colter Wall people will pause and know...This fella is on his way to becoming one of the greatest country singers ever.

I find this to be refreshing in an era where country music is over produced, cookie cut and dry. LYRICS!
My name is Bob Fudge I was born in Texas
Lampasas county back during the war
Small pox and Comanches took most of my family
Left my poor mother, my brothers and me
So I headed North to ride for the blockers
They were contracting herds for the Montan(a) range
In the Spring of the year 82 we left old Lampasas
With 2, 000 steers for the Little Bighorn
Crossing our trails there were many great rivers
All to be crossed not a bridge would we find
In the cold rolling waters and the wild punching cattle
There was many a young man took leave of his life
Well we crossed at Doan's store into the Indian nation
Saw the blood on the rocks where those cowboys had died
Then it's on Fort Dodge on the Arkansas River
Where gamblers and whores all welcomed us there
And the great snowcapped peaks they were on our left side now
For many miles in the great silent land
When I first saw Montana, I knew I would love her
I would ride her great ranges til the end of my days
But she's all cut and dry now and the trails are all gone
I've been in Yellowstone Park in an automobile
But I can still see em swimming, boys I can still hear em running
I came off of the trails when cowboys was king
My name is Bob Fudge I died in Montana

I have driven from Lampasas, Texas to Great Falls, Montana a number of times and have been all throughout most of the west. I have also driven the route through Oklahoma and Kansas to get there. His descriptions of the places paint a picture but having seen these places personally makes this an incredibly moving song for me because I can close my eyes and see those landscapes in my mind's eye. I didnt think Colter Wall could top "Cypress Hills" but he did with this one.

Hi , nice video! I don't know if this was mentioned in all the comments but Bob Fudge was a real person and a real cowboy. My great grandfather Denby worked with him on the XIT cattle drives from Texas to Montana in the early turn of the century. They ended up working for the Hatchet Creek Ranch in Fallon , MT and Alden Denby started a Homestead Act homestead there. There’s a spiritual core to Wall’s music conspicuously absent from not only popular country music but popular music in general today, which is, I think, one reason why it feels so healing and so necessary. He is a musical poet and storyteller whose beautiful, haunting voice gives expression to, casts light on, the deepest, most silent parts of ourselves.,

Being misinformed and mistaken as a child is not evidence that it is ok to be misinformed and mistaken as an adult.
So if calling people of First Nations “ Indians” was ok back then, as a child...
Can we reach a little further and say that as a Nation/ people-USA that back in history when we called other people by certain names that it justifies calling them those names today?
If Indians are still Indians..... are misplaced ethnic misnomers still okay and acceptable?
And if not ... then why do “ they” get off the hook and our Red men don’t?
