    Colter is an insane mix of Cash, Townes, Billy Joe Shaver, Waylon, Willie, Steve Earle and probably a few more I'm missing. He is country to be sure but it is more that Texas singer songwriter thing than the next George Jones. Dude has the chops, the voice, and especially the songs to the next great one. He takes all his influences and jells them into something all his own and it's just too cool for school. Killer lyrics.

    LYRICS:
    Mr Toronto man go away from my door,
    you've got my wheat and canola seed;
    you're asking me for more. Better fly before I produce my 44.
    I'm just a prairie boy, never meant none no harm.
    Spent my days making wages out on the Martin's farm.
    No eastern boy's gonna twist my arm.
    It's so damn cold out here, the wind will cut you half in two
    I ain't kidding now, my old plow is frozen to my mule
    I've been living off of ice cold rainbow stew
    Don't be picking fights with no Mennonites
    Don't be raising cane while they're planting grain and working through the night.
    They're gonna let you know if you ain't acting right
    Mr Toronto man go away from my door,
    you've got my wheat and canola seed;
    you're asking me for more. Better fly before I produce my 44.

    Mr. Toronto man, go away from my door
    You've got my wheat and canola seed, you're askin' me for more
    Better fly 'fore I produce my .44
    I'm just a prairie boy, never meant none no harm
    Spent my days makin' wages out on the Martin's farm
    No eastern boys are gonna twist my arm
    It's so damn cold out here, the wind'll cut you half in two
    I ain't kiddin' now, my old plow is frozen to my mule
    I've been livin' off of ice-cold rainbow stew
    Don't be pickin' fights with no Mennonites
    Don't be raisin' cane while they're
    Plantin' grain and workin' through the night
    Gonna let you know if you ain't actin' right
    Mr. Toronto man, go away from my door

    It don’t matter a speck what label you wanna toss at this young hoss, that there is mighty fine music! This man represents the salvation of country music from the jaws of modern, commercial, lyrically impotent Country-Rap (C-RAP). Steve Earle so eloquently describes modern country as “hip-hop for people who are afraid of black people”. Make mine “Outlaw Country” and I reckon the genre will survive! Who needs all these “purty boys” anyhow?!?

    • @Realtree_Egirl
      @Realtree_Egirl 7 лет назад +22

      Guitar-wise, all three play using the Travis picking style coined by Merle Travis. Doc plays various other styles such as flat picking but Townes near religiously Travis picks. Colter Wall has the same hammer on's as Townes when he makes his F shape chords. I love Townes' picking and adapted a lot of it into my own picking so hearing Colter Wall just now makes me happy believing he has as well. Also the fact that he sounds damn good!

    • @0Imtheslime0
      @0Imtheslime0 7 лет назад +6

      Same with me and Townes pickin´ is very addictive to adapt. I feel i have improved quite a bit by adapting Townes style. Simplistic yet rhythmic and good on your ear.
