The General is one of the finest pieces of comedy cinema ever produced... I have it on DVD and my 9 yo daugher watched it recently.. she absolutely loved it.... somethings are timeless.....
I love it too - and Sherlock Jr and College …but the 2 reelers were so poetic somehow… Surreal and hauntingly beautiful : the Scarecrow, Cops, the Balloonatic… so many beauties there! Amazing…
Can't think of a better place to meet her. So cool. I once read a story about Chaplin's son, Sydney, going to the Silent Movie theater on Fairfax to watch some of Chaplin's Mutuals. He kept hearing this guy in the back of the theater laughing to the point it was annoying. Turns out it was Chaplin himself, watching with Oona. I've read other accounts of Chaplin watching his films in small Hollywood theaters. Funny.

Buster Keaton = fantastic and Elwy Yost the interviewer = fantastic. Elwy interviewed many greats. Would love to see a channel devoted to Elwy Yost.
