While, who didn't? In every series he has showed up, and if somebody knows batman, they known the joker. Joker is probably the best villain of all time. Even people who know nothing about superheroes know who batman and the joker are.
My personal favorite is The Riddler. I just like the way he really tests Batman's mind instead of his physical ability. Also, he sure is damn fun to cosplay as.
I think the main reason why Batman's villains are often considered the best among superheroes villains is because Batman's villains bring a lot of human elements and character study to the table. With a lot of superheroes, they just fight their villains without getting to know who they really are, and there is not an emphasis on human emotions and psychology, just the big fights with lot of action and super-powers. With Batman, almost all his villains are interesting characters on their own: they have a personality, they display a variety of emotions, they have their motivations, they even have fears and psychological weaknesses. For Spider-Man, not many of his villains display that, except Green Goblin, Doc Ock and occasionally Venom. Who is Doc Ock ? What is his psychology, his fears, his motivations ? We don't really know, and even when we do, the show does not put the emphasis on that. For instance, Spider-Man's adventures rarely take the time to show the relationship between Kraven and his lover, or the effects of Doc Ock's infatuation with Aunt May. What makes Doomsday tick ? Does Doomsday sometimes fall in love ? The show is not interested to talk about that. In Superman, a lot of his villains are just powerhouses who want to become stronger or to destroy everything. It is not hard to see why Lex Luthor is always considered the best Superman villain and why he appears the most in Superman media: Luthor is a complete character, not a caricature like Darkseid. For Batman, you know a lot about what is inside the head of Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, Freeze or the Riddler. You feel the pain of Harley's abuse, you see Ivy taking care of her plants, you see Two-Face's multiple personality disorder, you know Riddler is a narcissist. They display emotions and personality. They are not just there to fight Batman, they have their own life even when Batman is not around.
I still like spiderman villains more since they are more memorable and have had a bigger impact on comics and among fans. Not that I'm disagreeing with you
Christian Trujillo I have to respectfully disagree with that. I feel Batman's villains are usually the first off anyone's tongue, be they a comic fan or just a random person off the street. But you are certainly entitled to your opinion on the matter,
I love how all of Batman’s main villains mirror batman himself in some way. Joker- he is an actual mirror of batman, bats is dark, serious and upholds order. Joker is bright, playful and represents chaos. Scarecrow- represents the fear batman uses as a weapon. Two-face- represents Batman’s duel persona as batman and Bruce Wayne. Penguin- represents Batman’s wealth and influence in Gotham. Mr freeze- represents Batman’s motivation, both characters are motivated by the loss, or possible loss of family as a reason to fight crime or turn to crime respectively. Bane- represents Batman’s strength. The riddler- represents Batman’s intelligence. Cat woman- represents Batman’s passion/compassion, mainly due to the romantic relationship they often share, which is rare for batman. Killer croc/man bat/killer moth/etc- meh I don’t know🤷♂️ they all like animals I guess😂 Hugo strange- represents Batman’s obsession with his work. Dead shot/deathstroke- represents Batman’s incredible skill. (More deadshot than deathstroke, since deathstroke is more of a teen Titans villain) Ras al Ghul- represents Batman’s determination and morality, both have dedicated their lives to their crusades and moral codes. Mad hatter- represents Batman’s insanity/mental issues, mad hatter is probably Batman’s most insane enemy. Sure you could argue maybe joker or scarecrow or whoever, but the mad hatter is barely a functioning person anymore, and has no capability for reason or logic left in him. Missed a few of his classic rogues, but I couldn’t come with anything different for them. If you’ve got any ideas, feel free to let me know. Oh wait, I forgot about Batman’s true archenemies... SUPERMAN yes, I made a Lego Batman movie reference, sue me
I think he would've been much higher if this list was made after Gotham came out. In 2013 the most famous version of Penguin was from Batman Returns, who was extremely different from the comics version of the character. The Gotham version is much more comics accurate (he becomes more and more like the comics version as he grows older and more experienced during the show). Hopefully The Batman's Penguin will also be more comics accurate and finally wash away the Batman Returns version.
missing deathstroke , black mask , man bat , killer croc , harley ,clay face , deadshot, mr . freeze, mad hatter and red hood at least make a honorable mentions
Personally, Scarecrow is my favorite Batman villain. The Joker is a good villain, but also the most marketable. That is why he is always number one on these list.
Darius Whittle she killed robin and almost killed batman (got closer to killing him than everyone else even the joker) pretty sure that deserves some recognition
Deathstroke for sure. He could mop the floor with batman and has become extremely popular in recent years. The others are great villains, but I don't think they quite make the level of fame and/or ability to fight batman to achieve "Top 10" status.
Gina Alexander Harley Quinn is more of the Joker's Sidekick than a Batman's ennemy. However as member of Suicide Squad she makes to the top of the list.
Teamflare Grunt Incorrect. Harley Quinn, before New 52, had an amazing comic series purely based on her. In fact, Joker was only in maybe three issues. The series kicks off with Harley leaving the Joker, working alone almost all of the time. New 52, including Suicide Squad, honestly ruined Harley. If you knew anything about her beyond cartoons, Arkham games, and New 52, you'd realize just how capable she was as her own, and in fact, is purely her own villain at this point. Sure she started off being more of a "sidekick," but alike to Robin, she became her own person when she was ready.
IzzyPwnzYou well I gotta admit that I didn't know that. I knew she was doing something other than just being always with the Joker but that was mostly Suicide Squad,at least I thought. You made me learn something thank you :)
I wish Christopher Nolan made a fourth batman and used the Riddler as the main villain. Nolan would've put a dark, crazy yet realistic spin on the character and i think the movie would've been amazing
Tren Clen it probably would be the best batman movie ever made if that was to happen. If nolan did another batman movie with penguin and or the riddler in there and done very well on the characters, i would like it the best for sure becuase they are my 2 favorite batman villians easily. The joker for me i put at number 6 or 7.
I swear to god, Killer Croc is the most underrated villain in history. He has teeth and claws that can tear through body armour, he can breathe underwater, he is better than Bane in order of strength (Croc's strength is natural, Bane's is from a toxin he keeps attached to him), he rules the sewers of Gotham and is a professional wrestler and overall bad ass in general. He should be the main antagonist in a future Batman movie.
So true I wish killer croc was number 1 and he has the most fun boss fights in all the Arkham games like batman Arkham asylum and batman Arkham knight.those boss fights were the BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEST
Can people give him a break? Batman Forever and Batman and Robin weren't the movies he wanted to make. Batman Forever was originally much darker but, Warner Brothers put it through major edits. So it was Warner's fault not Joel's.
In all my years of watching and reading Batman media, i have to say that the 3 best interpretations of Batman (outside of comics) are: The Animated Series Nolan Trilogy Arkham games
@@itskenlang he... literally ruins lives forever something the others weren’t able to do Firefly and Mad Hatter beat him cause Firefly gave the pop-star girl lasting ptsd and trauma while Hatter ruined the “Alice” girls life

Batman once described Ra's Al Ghul as "a criminal mastermind, more dangerous than the Joker and Lex Luthor put together". I think Liam Neeson's portrayal of Ra's Al Ghul in *_Batman Begins_* is extremely underrated.

no he's a teen titans villain, but he has shifted over to others such as Batman, but he's mainly been a foe for Nightwing, and he's only clashed with Deathstroke a couple times, just becuz he was in arrow doesn't mean he's always been a green arrow villain
Why was Scarface on this list In all the Batman roster Scarface and the ventriloquist every really stood out as a villain of batman I would have to admit he is underrated He's definitely not a top 10
To everyone who is complaining about Harley Quinn not being on this list. She isn't dangerous. At all. And about that "Mad Love" episode thats a one time thing, every villain nearly killed Batman. Joker could but he doesn't want to end the fun.
Batman has the best villains of any comic hero hands down.....tons of depth, variation and so much more than your run of the mill doppelgangers with great psychological elements. I figured Hush would make the list but whatever.
I'd rank batman villains as the best DC has to offer, but defiantly not the best in comics. Marvel generally ads a bit more depth to both their hero's and villains. Where most the Indy titles have to put an insane amount effort into their work since they don't have a massive fan base, and an endless supply of cash to compete with the big two. Also since their stories aren't serialized, or opperate out of the same universe they can afford to put more effort into developing less characters, or use major character deaths and apocalyptic events as a plot device without having to reboot the franchise afterwards. That said Mr. freeze and hush totally should have been on this list.
Firefly is one of Batman's villains not too much of a well known one though, if I remember correctly he got burnt all over his body from something, and he wears a protective suit with wings, he also carries a flamethrower but mainly all I have to say about him is that he is a pyromaniac. FYI he is in the game Batman Arkham Origins.
Bryce lacy He was a pyrotechnician who also liked to set things on fire, these things were mostly things he wasn't allowed to visit as a child (if i remember correctly). Something went wrong when he burned a sth and the rest is right
Top 10 reasons that make Batman the best superhero of all times: 10- He was not attacked by some bug. 9- He doesn't have laser eyes. 8- He doesn't fly with some body builder's tight suit. 7- He doesn't fear kryptonite. 6- He surrounds himself with the right people. 5- He is humble, unlike Tony Stark who told the whole world that he was Ironman. 4- Tools, Tech and Intellect instead of superpower bluffing. 3- He fights the baddest enemies. 2- He is well trained. 1- He screws em all !!! (Rachel Dawes, Selina Kyle, Talia Al Ghoul...)

I feel that this list is practically perfect. Joker will always be Batman's number 1, but the rest can always fluctuate amongst each other. I honestly wouldn't have changed one thing about this list. I was about to mention Mr. Freeze, but then I felt he didn't really belong on this list due to him not TRULY being a villain to Batman, but more of a haunted soul where his motives are for good, but his actions are not. Not nearly as bad as some of these guys here. As for Catwoman, I wouldn't call her a villain either, but at the same time, she has antagonized Batman enough in the past to fit in OR out of that category. All in all, great list!
I think the Joker Batman relationship is the most intense and in depth one in the DC Universe. Lex and Superman aren't crap compared to Mister J and the Dark Knight. Especially evident in the New 52 where the Joker become even more murderous and brutal in order to make batman stronger.
Akai john the reason why the Joker and Batman has such a "good relationship" is because the relationship has been written in all ways possible and the writers give too much spotlight to it. Frankly, is not that hard to write a character like Joker, specially when you overpower him so much. It's interesting but I feel he saturated the series already. Time to move on to other characters that can be explored. I haven't read New 52 but I feel like this is a new beginning to the Joker so I'll handle it and read it when I can.
TVegaC As much as I love The Joker as a character. I have to agree with you a bit. It's been easy for writers to write who he is even when they twist his characters a little here and there. What's really hilarious is the amount of failed back stories he has. This is even mocked in The Dark Knight as none of them have ever stuck with the characters. The problem with someone like him is that a back story takes away from him as a whole.
My theory is that The Joker isn't insane, he is just the perfect embodiment of conflict for the readers/viewers. He pushes the envelope to the very edge, and is like a message from the comic creators that Bruce and Batman will never be free of saving Gotham, he is Sisyphus and The Joker is the mountain.
10. Man Bat 9. Killer croc 8. The riddler 7. Professor Pyg 6. Scarecrow 5. Penguin 4. Mr Freeze 3. Bane 2. Court of Owls 1. Joker WHERE WERE THE COURT OF OWLS???
+FloSo Antonibro and Mr.Freeze should have replaced Hugo Strange since he is a pretty awesome villain and his back story is probably is the best out of all of the batman villains backstories
I absolutely refuse to believe that Bane was in the Dark Knight Rises. I just tell myself that they made up a completely new character and called him Bane to trick people into thinking they gave a shit. You can change his mask. You can give him that barely understandable voice. BUT IF YOU TAKE AWAY THE VENOM, YOU NO LONGER HAVE BANE. Also, that coat kind of reminds me of the one Hush wears. Maybe the role was originally for him and they just changed it to Bane at the last second.
Actually, In the DKR, Nolan donen't mention how Bean get those strength and skills and also his mask has many tubes and that can be related to the Venom chemical. PS. such a long time that i didn't watch that film for any mistake ......i'm sorry
They wanted to portray Bane as the gang leading criminal not the junkie street thug, I mean Bane is pretty bland without venom but he runs one of the largest gangs in the comics as well so he still works :D
I think Mr.Freeze should have had been in like the top 10. The Animated version was the best portrayal, him even risking his life for the others he hated the most.
I personally think batmans villians are people that could've become good but they choose the wrong. Like a psychological thing, his villians are villians that anyone can become because they're very crazy and wrong in the head. Its like batman deals with the nightmarish people that everyone fears to become or our inner fears I guess.

Where is mr freeze
Ikr He's My Favorite Batman Villain
Yeah, Mr. Freeze is one of my favorite Batman villains and he is the most underrated villains.
@@Jay-Da-Giant mr freeze isn't underrated he's really popular
Top 10 Batman villains we want to see in a live action films.
But you are certainly entitled to your opinion on the matter,
Jim Mackenzie Quite so!
I'm not even a fan of batman but I agree completely with all of what you just said
What are Joker fears? Motivations?psychology? Those are undefined for me,maybe because i'm not a Batman fan.
Killer croc/man bat/killer moth/etc- meh I don’t know🤷♂️ they all like animals I guess😂
Hugo strange- represents Batman’s obsession with his work.
Dead shot/deathstroke- represents Batman’s incredible skill. (More deadshot than deathstroke, since deathstroke is more of a teen Titans villain)
Ras al Ghul- represents Batman’s determination and morality, both have dedicated their lives to their crusades and moral codes.
SUPERMAN
yes, I made a Lego Batman movie reference, sue me
In terms of being Iconic, I think the Penguin, The riddler, Twoface and scarecrow should be higher than bane or ra's
Penguin no 7 WTF He should be at least in the top 4
The Penguin will always be Batmans number 2 nemesis
Yeah way too low
He should switch with Bane, he had a lot of hype due The Dark Knight Rises.
@@thelittlemanfromthedraftbo6805 I think two-face is number 2 tbh
Mr Freeze will always be one of my favorites.
missing deathstroke , black mask , man bat , killer croc , harley ,clay face , deadshot, mr . freeze, mad hatter and red hood at least make a honorable mentions
they only do the most insane villains and red hood is techniqually not a villain
i guess killing is not a crime
He was a villain but not anymore, just now he is an anti hero
I AGREE
red hood thinks he's a hero. because he kills bad guys
My Top 10:
10) Bane
9) Penguin
8) Two-Face
7) Deadshot
6) Mr. Freeze
5) Riddler
4) Poison Ivy
3) Scarecrow
2) Deathstroke

1) The Joker
yassssss
agree
Really catwoman is stronger than deadshot wow deasdshot is the deadliest marksman
+JackPlays catwoman is actually allied/neutral to batman in Batman:Arkham city.
Harley Quinn number 2 hahahahahaah even Batman doesn't care for her
Personally, Scarecrow is my favorite Batman villain. The Joker is a good villain, but also the most marketable. That is why he is always number one on these list.
He's number one on the list because he's the chaos to Batman's order
he's number one, because because he surpasses everyone and scarecrow is good, but not better than joker
@@aceofknaves61 scarecrow should be at least top 3
My list

5.catwoman
4.two-face
3.Ra's al Gaul
2. Bane
1. The joker
Aww no Riddler?
Lisa J Warwick I would switch our cat woman for the riddler
Everyone talking bout the riddler but I’m wondering about why everyone forgot about Harley quinn
Khayla Tavares she’s a top tier character but not a top tier Batman villain
Darius Whittle she killed robin and almost killed batman (got closer to killing him than everyone else even the joker) pretty sure that deserves some recognition
Deadshot, deathstroke, clay face, killer croc?
Deathstroke for sure. He could mop the floor with batman and has become extremely popular in recent years. The others are great villains, but I don't think they quite make the level of fame and/or ability to fight batman to achieve "Top 10" status.
Deathstroke was originally introduced as a Teen Titans Villain, but later went throughout the DC universe in other games, shows, and comics.
I was surprised Clayface wasn't on it. And Mr. Freeze.
U forgot Red Hood
Gio Reyes Red hood is on the list. Joker was originally called red hood before he changed his name and Jason Todd took up his old alias.
Who’s here after watching Joker?
That's good but where's the incredible CONDIMENT KING
Ya clock king and the ventriloquist also should have got a spot
Ye what about the infamous killer moth?
Those are scrubs.
WHERE’S CALENDAR KING?!?!
IKR best one out there
Wheres killer moth
Wtf??? Mr freeze, killer croc, clay face, HARLEY QUINN!!!!!!! Harley is awesome how could u leave her???
Gina Alexander Harley Quinn is more of the Joker's Sidekick than a Batman's ennemy. However as member of Suicide Squad she makes to the top of the list.
Shes still a villan tho
I know right she could easily beat up scarecrow and get at least top 10
we all know who number one is already hehe
I know. Obviously...
Condiment King
random lad nah, obviously the ten eyed man
EmeraldGuardian HAH na polka dot man
Djizzle96
Robbie Rotten
The ventriloquist
My top 5:
5. Two face
4. Hugo Strange
3. Penguin
2. Scarecrow
1. Joker
Riddler
Two face, Riddler, Penguin, Joker
Where TF is Scarecrow
I wish Christopher Nolan made a fourth batman and used the Riddler as the main villain. Nolan would've put a dark, crazy yet realistic spin on the character and i think the movie would've been amazing
Tren Clen it probably would be the best batman movie ever made if that was to happen. If nolan did another batman movie with penguin and or the riddler in there and done very well on the characters, i would like it the best for sure becuase they are my 2 favorite batman villians easily. The joker for me i put at number 6 or 7.
Goosebumps
Penguin, Poison Ivy and Riddler are characters I can see working very well in the Nolanverse
DI Gumtree not ivy, no realism there
Jesse McCree Yeah but she could be made more realistic like Bane was without venom
He should be the main antagonist in a future Batman movie.
yea he gets no love
So true I wish killer croc was number 1 and he has the most fun boss fights in all the Arkham games like batman Arkham asylum and batman Arkham knight.those boss fights were the BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEST
He's going to be in Suicide Squad.
he's a anti hero now so FUCK YOU from DC
oookkkkkaaaayyyy...
I think scarecrow should be way higher
My favorite is Two Face. Especially Aaron Eckhart’s portrayal
I think they should have had The Condiment King instead of The Joker at no. 1, and then the sound of Joker's laugh at the end.
Number one should be Joel Schumacher
+Bud Jones who (someone from batman robin ?)
+ipicy909 he directed Batman and Robin
Can people give him a break? Batman Forever and Batman and Robin weren't the movies he wanted to make. Batman Forever was originally much darker but, Warner Brothers put it through major edits. So it was Warner's fault not Joel's.
Lol, that's actually true from another aspect.
my favorite batman villian? *SCARECROW*
Mariano Ortiz Batman : Arkham Asylum . Scarcrow : What Are You Doing Little Bat? , Scarecrow : You failed Now Suffer!
Cillian Murphy scarecrow : Their is no Crane! Only Scarecrow!
Same he's honestly kind of under rated but he's one of my favourite villains of all time
Mines The Joker
He's my Third favorite Joker 1st Bane 2nd
Interesting choice. Risky decision to put Ra's al Ghul all the way second. Very surprised to see an absence of one missing Mr Freeze!
In all my years of watching and reading Batman media, i have to say that the 3 best interpretations of Batman (outside of comics) are:
The Animated Series
Nolan Trilogy
Arkham games
What about the tim burton films?
The Joker is definitely the best villain of all time, both DC and Marvel
+Hasan Ates I'd say in all of literature. My favourite character of all time as well.
Mad hatter: Exists
WatchMojo: No, I don’t think I will.
Well it's a top 10 not a list of all villains. Hatter was never a major villain
@@itskenlang honorable mentions tho
Mad Hatter sucks
@@itskenlang he... literally ruins lives forever something the others weren’t able to do Firefly and Mad Hatter beat him cause Firefly gave the pop-star girl lasting ptsd and trauma while Hatter ruined the “Alice” girls life

I also rlly like the Joker but dude, may i correct you?
"and he's my favorite CHARACTER..."
Ender503final bruh ur an idiot. He said Batman is his favorite hero
Batman once described Ra's Al Ghul as "a criminal mastermind, more dangerous than the Joker and Lex Luthor put together". I think Liam Neeson's portrayal of Ra's Al Ghul in *_Batman Begins_* is extremely underrated.
Mr. Freeze deserves an honourable mention at least.
yeah and he is way better than that shit called Poison Ivy. I mean Mr.Freeze, Deadshot, Deathstroke, and Killer Croc are way better than Poison Ivy, The Penguin, Scarecrow, Riddler
I say Mr. Freeze should at least be number 3

Who is Firefly?
Firefly is one of Batman's villains not too much of a well known one though, if I remember correctly he got burnt all over his body from something, and he wears a protective suit with wings, he also carries a flamethrower but mainly all I have to say about him is that he is a pyromaniac. FYI he is in the game Batman Arkham Origins.
Bryce lacy He was a pyrotechnician who also liked to set things on fire, these things were mostly things he wasn't allowed to visit as a child (if i remember correctly). Something went wrong when he burned a sth and the rest is right
NikNak1902 I remember him and like him ^^ He had the funniest "storys" in all games (Lego Batman 1 and Arkham Origin for example)
Totaly agree with your list
Ras, Bane, Deathstroke, Killer Croc, Clayface could physically fight the Bat.
@Big Boss he also a batman villan
Why is only one here
Scarecrow should be much higher smh!

Bob Baxter Totally agree. He’s my favorite.
Top 10 reasons that make Batman the best superhero of all times:
10- He was not attacked by some bug.

But where is Condiment King
Lol

Very hot take bud
I absolutely refuse to believe that Bane was in the Dark Knight Rises. I just tell myself that they made up a completely new character and called him Bane to trick people into thinking they gave a shit. You can change his mask. You can give him that barely understandable voice. BUT IF YOU TAKE AWAY THE VENOM, YOU NO LONGER HAVE BANE. Also, that coat kind of reminds me of the one Hush wears. Maybe the role was originally for him and they just changed it to Bane at the last second.
completely agree
You know Bane had Venom in TDKR right?
Actually, In the DKR, Nolan donen't mention how Bean get those strength and skills and also his mask has many tubes and that can be related to the Venom chemical.
PS. such a long time that i didn't watch that film for any mistake ......i'm sorry
They wanted to portray Bane as the gang leading criminal not the junkie street thug, I mean Bane is pretty bland without venom but he runs one of the largest gangs in the comics as well so he still works :D
They used venom as a breathing substance, hence why they changed the mask to have pipes that enabled him to breathe the venom.
If Scarecrow is Batman's top ten villain, then I'm 100% sure that the following is gonna be total Badass!
Scarecrow is my favorite especially from the arkham games
Ur just dumb

Riddler is my favorite to be honest
While other heroes dealt god-human or alien villain. Batman dealt with crazy genuises, what a perfection
I personally think batmans villians are people that could've become good but they choose the wrong. Like a psychological thing, his villians are villians that anyone can become because they're very crazy and wrong in the head. Its like batman deals with the nightmarish people that everyone fears to become or our inner fears I guess.
