I’ve been running this oil for 30 years. I run it in dirt bikes, saws, and weed eaters. I have never had an engine failure with it. It is the best bang for the buck oil period.

Been running this lucas oi in snowmobiles, evinrude outboards, chainsaws and ice augers. It a good idle, clean at idle. I've gone through about 40 gallons of saber in my chainsaws over the past 18 month. Back in February at 30 below zero, the Saber wouldn't even pour from a jug. The lucas did. Never ran saber is my oil injection snowmobiles, because I was afraid it would strip the plastic oil injector gears.
Saber doesn't burn that clean in cold temps either. Again this is after 40 gallons of the stuff.
I've since decided to run the lucas in everything.

    • @donalddonaldson7211

Yep I’d imagine high viscous would be hard to pour at cold temps.

Agreed. I’ve tried everything and keep coming back to Red Armor 40:1 with 90octane rec fuel. No carbon, great protection, and it’s available everywhere.

Perhaps 32 to 1? (Easier to mix a quart at a time, say for a weed-eater that burns maybe half-a-tank per month, like I had years ago??)

I've run this for about 10 yrs now at 45:1 does a great job. One thing ive noticed is the traveling effect it has which unfortunately makes equipment attract more dirt but outside of the carb, intake manifold etc will have an oil film that attracts dust etc.

    Hi Richard
I echo many here and offer you my thanks for this oil test project. Bike oil definitely seems the way to go.
Having searched,it seems the HP2 is not available in Europe, at least not that i can find. A motorcycle page did say that Honda HP2 is the same oil as Mobil MX2T oil,but struggling to find that either.
So,can I, request some Castrol products to add to the comparisons please. It seems they do several versions of their Power 1 product-:
    Castrol Power 1
    Castrol Power 1 Racing
    Castrol Power 1 RS
    Castrol Power 1 A747
I don't know about differences and specs between them, but if they match up to the Honda HP2/ Mobil MX2T oils then availability worldwide would easier for everyone.
Love the channel and your dedication to this topic.

It’s pretty much a group 2 oil with some group 3 “synthetic” to call it semi synthetic. Likely no group 4 or 5 oils present and that’s why she burns a little dirtier than other oils especially the premix bike oils

Thank you Richard for this Lucas run tear down. I think over time the carbon build up will show heavy with this oil. Unless you run the snot out of it for long periods of time which a non proho will do. Better than swamp water at 50:1, but just can’t beat the bike oils and Saber at 40:1. I don’t see why AMSOIL keeps bragging about 100:1 when nobody I know who knows anything about power saws does something like that on a good saw. I might sacrifice my little Shindaiwa 300 someday, but I hate the unnecessary punishment to any chainsaw. Well , maybe some of them off color clones.😉

I have been trying to keep up with these oil tests you’ve been doing. I find them to be very helpful and provide much needed insight into how well our oils are working for us. I do however have a question and that is have you ever tried any tests that involve Marvel Mystery Oil in the 2 cycle gas mix? I’ve run that stuff in every small gasoline engine I own for more than 35 years with great results at least on the side of staying out of a repair shop.
My curiosity at this point is what would be the result in the case of some of these products that have produced less than desirable results in your tests or would it maybe create more carbon? or perhaps reduce carbon deposits? Produce more or less sheen? Honestly I’ve had such good results for so long now that I have to believe it has some positive effects on carburetors and internals. Thanks for the videos and the insight you’re providing here!

LUCAS OIL is NG, someone did a complete lab analysis on it and I think it came in dead last, had very little of the critical addidtives package which contain the important stuff like friction modifiers, lubricity & viscosity aids, boron, phosphorus, zink (ZDDP) etc. The Universal Averages were terribly low as a comparitor.
Walmart & Amazon oil beat it by quite a bit as I remember.
I was so pissed when I found out bc I've used a lot of there products. Mobil 1 did not do too well either, or at least not as good as the hype conveys. Mind you the lab analysis was done on conventional motor oils, not on two stroke oil but I dont trust Lucas after the lab results were made known.
I was told they put there money into markering, labels, containers & sponsers...not into the base oil, the stuff in the bottle.

Is your chainsaw ported? because if this is not the case, it is not recommended to use 1:40, putting more oil in the mixture will clog the engine more quickly. It's 1:50 as the manufacturer says.

    • @richardflagg3084
      @richardflagg3084  5 месяцев назад +8

I've tested most all of the oils chainsaw manufacturers sell and at 50:1 they only give modest lubrication in the crankcase. 50:1 is fine for upper cylinder lubrication and to meet emissions requirements. 40:1 will not clog spark arrestors or fowl out a plug. It's only 0.6oz more oil per gallon for 40:1.
