The thing I love about these Park Tool videos is that they cover all kinds of equipment - not just the high end stuff. Well done, as always, and thank you.

experiencing full-blown sense memories of changing my cables back in the mid-90s, trying to reassemble the small pieces, and then not properly setting the cable and starting it all over. love that this is out there for people now 😊

Every time I encounter those SRAM twist apart shifters I say never again.
Never understand why the manufacturer can't design a product with servicing in mind. They turn a reasonably quick job into a tedious time consuming one.
I have found that on Revoshift the retaining tabs can be brittle after a time so be careful they may break.
    Thanks for another excellent video.

Microshift is like 20 seconds and Sram is half an hour video, that says it all haha

I'm working on a very old diamond back with these shifters and it's being a pain. The shift collar does not just "pull off", even with prying with a screwdriver. I had to pull the unit out, remove the clamp collar and set screw, and pry each of the four lock levers why pulling the two parts apart. I can see his recommendation to just buy a new shifter with cable installed. A shifter is about $10 and if I were in a shop my labor would be much more that that.

Could you do a video on bolts ? Steel, stainless steel, aluminum and titanium bolts pros and cons and if you should thread lock or use grease. There are as many opinions as there are bikers out there I think.

It's the no name ones with plastic retaining piece that takes 4 hours to release, breaks, then the 2 inch spring flies out, gets lost on the garage floor... that's the one that needs to be burned from existence

They could have a kink or a fray that cause as much or more resistance than a corroded cable.

Best way to replace grip shift cables is to remove the grip shift and throw it directly in the trash.

Normal mtb shifters are good. Friction shifters are kinda cool too. But grip shifters? Meh, never liked them. Feels so clumsy for me.
