Honestly im glad that im not the only one who had random bad days, but your spirit of keep going and kindness to give away those bread inspired me today!
You are a very compassionate and kind person, and turned around your bad day! I wish I lived closer to frequent your lovely shop... The USA is a bit far for a daily jaunt - lol! Blessings..
Greetings from Brazil. My worst nightmare is waking up to an open fridge, once it happened and I lost 3 loafs of multigrain, now I double check my fridge before going to sleep.
Lily just want to say I love your videos and insights into starting a small business from scratch. Really inspiring for other entrepreneurs starting out! Also I noticed your brown mug and I found the same one in a second-hand store here in Australia last week and so I have one too! How funny :)
thank you so much Charlotte! How funny and what a small world we live in... I love that mug and actually want to find more of the same kind - gorgeous!
so clever of you to donate the overproofed loaves to your food bank! i totally agree that small businesses should try their best to be ecofriendly as well, keep it up!
I LOVE “visiting” with you in this kind of video. It is real and I like hearing what you are thinking and planning. I am so sorry about your frig and the bad day, but I am betting there are a number of food bank folks that are seriously enjoying your bread - lucky them!!!
I think morning buns are a great idea and so many options. And the van !!! Last year I thought about getting what is called a “cottage” license to sell some things either markets or from the end of my driveway! A cottage license is allowed for home bakers who sell directly to customers (vs via a bakery or restaurant) and only available for things that are “safe”. You can do breads for instance, but not things like canned veg. When you have a chance, I’d like to know what kind of license you need to have.
Hi Lily, love your work. I have started a micro bakery in Melbourne Australia (I left the rat race and I'm now loving life), I specialise in cookies, I also use eco-friendly packaging and stamp my boxes and bags. My stickers come in handy when I wrap the cookies, brownies, babkas etc., in tissue paper, I seal it with the sticker, so when you open the box, it looks all neat and classy, but still homemade because my logo is simple and rustic looking. Just an idea for you when you mentioned your stickers. All the best, and happy baking.
I could have olive oil with everything I love it so much! I actually saw a recipe for a couple pieces of dark chocolate, olive oil & sea salt on sourdough toast recently so don’t think it’s just me! Hope you enjoy it ☺️
Awww so sorry for things going wrong yesterday... even your new fridge got delayed, hopefully not for too long though. I really felt for you when I watched your video as I can see just how dedicated and comitted you are.... nevermind Lily you made a lovely gesture taking the loaves to the food bank... so proud of you and someone will have made good use of your efforts. Hoping you are coping better today and I bet you cant wait for your new 'goodies' arriving... Take care :)
Lovely, just lovely. I would buy your bread every day of the week. My interest in bread is as the staff of life, it's nutritional content and it's ability to sustain life and energy as is has done for thousands of years. Good luck with your fabulous Lily's Loaf.
Just found your channel and its so lovely! I got so excited when you said van & mobile bakery. Excited to see where the journey takes you! 💙 from Berlin
You are great and courageous and I wish you best of luck. Looking forward to following your journey onwards. Greetings from Copenhagen from a Sourdough home baker.
All the best - great to see your progress. Running an even smaller bakery up in Derbyshire - sold 10 baguettes last Saturday! Gonna get me one of those stamps...
It's great that you managed to donate those loaves of bread. I'm sure they still taste delicious! I have the same fear with my food business. You can get a device that sends you warning on an app if the temperature goes above a certain limit. The brand that we use is called ink bird.
I did my apprenticeship as a baker/pastrycook 20 years ago and the trade has diminished a lot over the years. Someone who feels and shows the passion is the one that stands out for sure. Just my thoughts Regards Elton
I was surprised that you drew the bread of your logo cause i really like your logo design and thought it looks classic and beautiful! And i absolutely love your mobile bakery idea so much!!!!! So sad that i don’t live in your local place. 🥺 Till the next week, i’ll wait for your new video for all of your new equipments!❤️
Hi I'm from Malaysia and I had a super micro sourdough bakery too in 2018-2019. Feel sooo resonated when you shared your bread, your packaging, logo etc. Love your logo so much! Enjoy your journey and all the best 😁😁😁
@@LilysLoaf and I stamped my bread bags one by one too ! Every part of your videos really brought me back to those beautiful days with dough and breads 💓
Lots going on there, Lily. Seems you are thinking ahead of the game. Great to see your sister is supporting your project. Pretty loaves are the goal but not the norm here as I plan my 39th loaf. They all taste and crunch great out of the toaster though. I make croutons or bread "chips" with particularly sub-standard results. A crouton never knows what it was truly meant to be. Ha ha.
Hi Lily, love your videos, they are very inspiring. You could use the stickers to close your boxes. I would first tie them with the bakers twine then "seal" the knot with a sticker.
Greetings from San Francisco! Your breakfast looks fab! Since you mentioned Tartine, I have to agree that their morning buns are amazing. especially the orange zest really took it to the next level! Yes, it was massive too! I can't wait to see your own version.
Sorry to hear about the fridge. What mixer are you getting ?, I am currently trying to get a small micro bakery going and hope to be as successful as you, you look like you really enjoy it as I do. Keep up with the videos as they are incredibly inspiring.
Thanks, thats a little bit out of my price range but I am looking at a Ankarsrum mixer which I have read great reviews on although can look very unconventional. I'm excited to see your new mixer soon.
poor Lily, do not get discouraged, the hitches are always annoying but unfortunately they can happen: the important thing is to know how to deal with them in the right way and you are doing it very well! I hope everything will be resolved soon!
You're an inspiration, Lily. I have been baking and baking and I can't eat it all. I am planning on giving future baked goods away but it also would be cool if I could eventually run a micro bakery. What advice would you give a person who wants to do that?
Suggestion: could you do a video on your favorite bread books? Unless you did already if you did could you link that? I love your channel and I am working my way through.
Hi lily! I love your videos and it’s so nice that you share so much about your business online. I was just wondering how you went about making your website as it’s so well put together. Thanks!
Lily what is the size of the carrier bags , I want to order locally but I don’t know what is the perfect size for a normal size sourdough . Many thanks
I'm sorry your loaves didn't turn out well. I hope your customers were understanding. I enjoyed the video though. You seem very adept at marketing as well as bread making. You're very clever. :). Oh, I'll be interested to see what new oven you get.
How lovely it is that you were able to turn your bad day into a generous gift for people who could really use a good day :)
yes it definitely turned my day around... the food bank definitely needed the loaves more than I did in the end!

happens to all of us Pinny! Thank you for your kind words :)

thank you, what a good idea! Will give this a go tomorrow for some of my brownie orders :)
nice channel :) will tell my sis about the bakery since she lives in London :)
I just over-proofed my loaf so I understand your disappointment. We just get back on our horses again and bake on!!
exactly!!

hello Matt thank you! This video I made may answer your questions :) ruclips.net/video/3rLGyweyi60/видео.html
Caravan’s sweet Kimchi breakfast bun was ace. I’ve also found Nisbets a bit flaky and random on deliveries when I’ve used them
sounds delicious... that's interesting to know! I've never bought from them before so not proving to be the best experience so far.

who else found 3:39 the dripping oil oddly satisfying,
I made my first loaf today which came out ok, but wrapped it up still warm, and it got rubbery
Good on you for donating the mishap! It's terrible when something slips up...
Keep it up!
What's your biggest seller?
thanks Justin! Biggest seller is my classic sourdough loaf and chocolate chip cookies:)
Hey id love a video about how you make gluten free loaves!!!! so hard to find anyone making good gluten free bread
great idea!
what does an over-proofed loaf look like?
normally flat as a pancake!

hi Malcolm whereabouts did you see it written as Steatham? Let me know! Thank you :)
