As a former doorm and furnished micro apartment dweller, liquid starch is my all-time favorite tip! Its crazy how it even sticks to cheap melamin furniture. For walls - I recommend a light wight fabric. I also used very heavy cotton fabric succesfully, but then you will need to have assistance or a possibity to temporarely fix it while putting up a very large piece (I used a lot of heavy duty painters tape, but if you dont have concrete or brick walls, push pins might suffice)
“I don’t want us all living in collective delusion.” 😂 Loved that Baguette joined you for part of this, but ONLY part - she has to maintain her aloof demeanour, after all. Excellent suggestions - I especially love the replacement drum shade for boob lights and the washi-taped doorway - such a great idea!
A great tip for renters that I realised after moving away from renting; you can paint the walls the same colour they already are without breaking rules or aski g your landlord! Sounds weird i know but hear me out; that flawless, clean wall feels absolutely different to live with than the stained, damaged walk that other tennants have had for years. Even if you cant decide the color you can upgrade the space and have a fresh, clean slate❤
I had a beautiful vintage, rice paper screen behind my bed, like the one you have pictured; sadly, I found out I punch in my sleep and tore it up one night 😭 😂
Love the sit down commentary. I think you could do some like some other interior design youtubers, but with your sense of humor and suggestions that are more fun and colorful, as opposed to many who try for upscale, classic, more simple design ideals. You are more fun!!
I love these tips! Perfect timing, too. I am revamping my entire apartment, one room at a time. I am definitely extra enough for curtains in the bathroom 🫶🏾.
Thank you for making a video specifically aimed at renters who don't want the hassle of an elaborate DIY project, a.k.a. me! I can handle Wasi tape though.
I'm going to thrift some flat bedsheets and put a wall of curtains in my tiny dining room. All these ideas were so great; there were so many that my head is spinning with plans.
YES!!!! I love hearing this. I actually even hung those sheets with tiny command hooks since I wasn’t allowed to drill in. It was a little tedious but totally worked.
These were indeed realistic yet still unbelievably glamourios looking and clever tips that dont look tacky at all. All stylish. I loved the references and how funny you are😂
Fantastic suggestions. I’m seeing a mirror-tile backsplash in my future. Also glad to see the love for screens-they can be a great place to bring in sconces, if the walls are off limits.
Thanks for the inspiration! I constantly gather ideas and love to redo or just tweak spaces in my apartment - so thanks for the ideas and examples! I have used contact paper to cover those horrible (usually beige) countertops, in both kitchen and bathroom. I recently saw someone use pink marble contact paper in their daughter's first apartment - it went from boring to gorgeous - she even did a backsplash! FUN. In the 70's when I had my first apartment, my dad had bought me an avocado green fridge... I used contact paper to cover it. lol
Woohoo! One of my fave things about doing renter-friendly decor is that it can change, so it feels like less stress and pressure and more fun to play with things.
I'm so much older than you, I was in my teens in the late 60's; mirrored walls were such a thing back then, everyone was doing it - the hippie days! These were all really good tips and tricks. I think my favorite is using fabric as wall paper.
I love these tips! I am lazy homeowner, and I can easily see myself adapting these to my still-ugly cabinets etc. until I have the time and money to replace them. You are a genius.
OK yay. Love my lazy homeowners, too. It’s funny, I always think I would do the same things in a home because I love to mix things up so often and play around.
It really can make such a difference. I even saw people stuck tall/thin plant stands in that dead tiny corner between the toilet and wall. Thought it was cool and unexpected.
Wow! Jammed packed ideas, trust me when I say, I have watched tons of vids for ideas, yours was way worth those ton and time I spent on those! New sub here!
Thank you for being honest about ceilings! I live in a home built in the 70s. We have normal ceilings. I hate all these DIYers with high ceilings acting like everyone has high ceilings.
I don’t live in an apartment nor do I rent yet your ideas are sooooo good I truly enjoy watching your videos. Thank you! So for anyone out there, these ideas aren’t just for renters although super awesome for renters. You can adapt to any type of space. Thank you again!!!
This makes me so happy to hear! I’m a big fan of renter-friendly ideas for home owners because they’re low risk and more budget-friendly, plus I like to mix things up over time.
Yay thanks for the letter. Also I live in a 1970s double mobile home with a triangle living room and the 1/2 hutch / side board. I would like to see Any Ideas. Have u done any mobile homes?
Agh, I wish I had more experience with it. I know those can be especially tricky. If you’re struggling with layout things, I might recommend checking out Julie Jones’ videos-she’s an expert space planner who breaks down her clients’ spaces, which can often be tricky. instagram.com/juliejones_designs?igsh=MWQ1ZGUxMzBkMA==
YES I have a weird asymmetrical window in my bedroom and did a full wall of heavy velvet blush curtains behind my bed. Taking your tip to add another panel so it looks more plush!!
This is the BEST renter friendly video I’ve ever seen! I live in the upstairs apartment of a beautiful rental house, with the exception of the light gray walls throughout (and a couple boob lights) and I’m over it! I want color! I don’t have the physical energy/stamina to do things like removable wallpaper, but you’ve given so many great suggestions to lean into. Thank you!
Wow! I ADORE your ideas! Thank you for the inspiration. I've been searching and kept coming up with all the exact same ideas in videos, all the usual renter friendly suggestions, and while they're nice, most aren't all that exciting or appealing to me. I love your cool and unusual content, thank you!😊
You can also buy an overall magnet for the front of your fridge if you don't want to deal with adhesive: my Mom had an image of an Italian cobblestone street in our kitchen
Ooh! OK, so a few things… -To actually drill in you need a masonry drill bit. If it feels a little overwhelming, that’s a super easy thing you could get a handy person to drop out for you. -There are adhesive ceiling hooks for concrete, depending on how heavy the light is. Those tend to be pretty light though. I haven’t used them myself, but may be worth the experiment: www.amazon.com/Adhesive-Concrete-Textured-Unsmooth-Drilling/dp/B0CL779618 3) if there is an existing light fixture and you get a separate paper lantern just to pop over it, they are sooooo light, they can be command stripped to the ceiling with multiple strips! Command strips work on concrete. Just remember to give enough clearance and use a low-heat bulb. Best of luck!
@@LaughCryDIY Thank you so much! It's about 1.5 , no existing light fixture, so I think the adhesive hooks will do it, if not I'll get a handy person. Thanks for your help!
If you’re talking about something like privacy cling film, that’s a good question. I haven’t used them in a bathroom, so I’m not sure what the product recommendation is. But you might want to follow Stefanie Bloom, who has been doing some major experimenting with peel and stick decal tiles even INSIDE the shower: instagram.com/reel/C51fd9xy_VK/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Ooh that’s a tricky one. And I so feel your frustration. A few things I might try… -Depending on how much overhang you have between bricks, these brick clips might be an option: www.amazon.com/Brick-Hanging-Outdoors-Hangers-Picture/dp/B0CPP8YDR4?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A1GMG64W1V4UVQ -Gorilla mounting putty might be good for very light things: www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Removable-Mounting-Putty-Off-White/dp/B0873Z7Y42 -I’m not sure how textured the brick is after what I assume might be layers of paint. The Command strips site says it won’t work on brick (because of the unevenness) but will work on painted cinder block (which is smoother), so it may be worth an experiment, depending on what you wanted to hang. Hope these help.
I need all tips and tricks. I bought a house last week.... the walls are grey. Paint, and decor and all the things, but I'm also a cheap whore, and need to buy basically all of the appliances and furniture, so quick and easy fixes are also much needed over here.

So many great ideas. ‘Low Key Lazy’ 😂😂😂. That’s me. I get inspired and then life gets in the way. Hi to Baguette ❤
Low key lazy are my people. Haha.
Creative ideas-even for homeowners. The banquette and wall curtains are 2 I want to try in my home.

Ooh! Love that!
Queen, your eye makeup is giving 60s vibes and I’m here for it. 🔥
