Motorhome Trip To Dawlish
In this vlog we pack up our Motorhome and head to an adults only site near Dawlish. The site is called Hunters Lodge at Starcross. The site offer hardstanding ehu pitches with block paving and gravel.
From the site we head off in the Motorhome to Dawlish Warren Beach and show you where to park if you’re visiting the area. From the car park we walk to the beach and then along the sea front to Dawlish. Dawlish is a larger seaside town than Dawlish Warren. A visit to Gays Creamery is a must.
Hopefully you will enjoy the vlog but warning -it contains no ice cream or fish and chips!

Just to correct you a little. The area you revered to as Dawlish Warren Beach, might put potential visitors off. You need to head north, past the shops, amusements and food places, to the huge and very sandy Beach! It backs onto a massive Nature Reserve, full of plants, wildlife and loads of pathways to explore. That’s where you get to, if you go under the railway bridge pointed out earlier in your video. It’s the only Sandy Beach for miles, we know, we spent ages and much fuel trying to find one!!!

Lovely look at Dawlish and Dawlish Warren. We stayed at Cofton which is about a mile away but it was Dec/Jan so weather wasn’t as nice. Xx

We were down there for a week at cofton holiday park. We loved Dawlish Warren and Dawlish. Popped into Teignmouth also and had a good few hours walking along the sea front and in the barrower streets. We just loved it and would go back down that way agsin no worries

We feel guilty now as the spot you parked in we parked our xtrail in there and we may have stopped a motorhome from parking in those spaces it wasn't done intentionally
Oh no, it is a car park at the end of the day and there was even more space at the top end 😊👍

Thank you Peter, yes, pleased with the compressor in terms of when we are off grid or parked up on a day trip from site. It saves on gas and we dont even have to think about the fridge keeping cold. We have a 110w solar panel but the fridge draws a fairly low amount of power 4A and has a night setting 2.5A. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend, Karina and Jules
Fantastic vlog guys, always good to see my favourite place 😊 that site looked good too. The sea wall is being replaced with a much bigger one the same as the other side of the station, with a wall that curves the waves back into the sea! I was just about to say can’t believe how empty that car park was and someone still parked right next to you, then I realised who it was 🤣🤣 really love how relaxed your vlogs are, makes for a very enjoyable watch. Hunters Lodge is a really lovely site peaceful site with great access to cycle routes and the train to enable you to explore the area easily, unfortunately our plans were changed due to illness but I really hope we go back to explore the area properly 🥰

Nice tour interesting as we are motorhomers as well and live at Kenton and enjoyed looking at Hunters as we knew it was there but have never been in there.

We went to dawlish and dawlish warren the week before, you drove past the site at the top of the hill, leadstone campsite, you defo had better weather though 👍
We did well with the weather until the end of our trip thankfully. I tried to get in at Leadstone but it was fully booked when I rang in the spring. It looks a nice site. Have a lovely Sunday 😊 Karina

Yes Jules we absolutely do have to see the fridge, I got really excited when Karina said she was going to show us. We have an Adria Twin Supreme, I keep it fully loaded with clothes and long life food so filling the fridge means we're off! I found I can pack a week's worth of food in ours with some careful packing. Loving your videos.

Many thanks for a great vlog what a great road trip to dawlish, stunning mh guys I noticed the hab door is on off side my question is have you ever had any probs when it comes to facing your fellow campers regarding jab door facing each other? Hoping to get our first mh in a few years time but the one we like that suites our needs is the pilote 650 c elegance but the hab door is on the continental side ..

Nice to see you are both enjoying your new Van I am interested to see your review coming out soon .How are you getting on with the radio and sat/nav any problems ref it freezing up and the screen for the reversing camera to bright etc ?. Hoping yours is fine .
Thanks Tony, no issues with radio or sat nav. It does default to km but reading various posts this seems common on the Ducato. The camera is not as good as older models but that is the screen as opposed to the Camos camera. The field of vision is small. My wife Debbie has had readly for a few years now it really saves a lot of money and is very green friendly. Like you Karina I love my chocolate but in the hot summer weather I find it is sickly and I do tend to not eat it much in the summer months. I do agree with Jules please stop showing us all inside your fridge. I have been to Dawlish one Christmas when going to visit with friends to see their mother who only lives 5 mins walk from the water way that you were stood at. Where was Fudge?

I see that the silver air vents etc seem to reflect on your windscreen dose it annoy you
No, it seems the camera picks them up more than when you are actually driving. I noticed that on the footage..the camera has a different angle than when you’re in the seats. 😊 Karina
Great vlog as always. Just one point. There is a long beach to the left of Dawlish Warren which is dog friendly in designated areas all year round. We live in Exeter but like the look of Hunter’s Lodge, so might give it a go in the quiet season. Really enjoying your videos. We are thinking of upgrading our Bessacarr to a new Motorhome. But which one ??

Morning Colin, yes its the new generation compressor from Thetford. It only runs off the battery and electric, no gas option. Im not a fridge expert but I did ask Thetford about it for being off grid long term etc. Basically, it uses 4A but has a night setting of 2.5A. We have a 110w solar panel and have been off grid with it. Thetford say you can remain off grid indefinitely with solar. We have had no issue with our battery levels and obviously on EHU it is charged through that. Benefits are we don’t use gas, when we go out for the day in the Motorhome the fridge runs as normal and the solar keeps the battery topped up. It will be interesting to test it out in winter when we have much less light so that’s something I will keep an eye on. It does run louder and it does produce quite a bit of heat. I like it, it works well for us and saves on the gas. Have a lovely weekend Colin 😊👍 Karina and Jules
Fridge contents: we need not only a view inside before you set off, but also sight of the remnants at the end of each trip please. Chocolate and compressor fridges - a match made in heaven.

@@HereWeTow I hope the "block" was a single square and not a whole bar - the other benefit of a compressor fridge is that the background noise when its running drowns out the whispering from within; with various chocolate bars saying "you know we are in here, eat me!"... Hi the DL is a real looker that’s for sure. I was wondering if you have or are considering a silver screen protector. I’m aware the Adria door blinds are a little different to most manufacturers in that they are not in a frame. I’m unsure which type to order for my imminent arrival. Any advice would be good. 😉

We just signed for the Matrix.!!!.. yes, it finally arrived! We can't quite quite believe it. We took it for a test drive and the 160hp auto is superb... I think you got the same engine power with the auto as well? What does Jules think of it?
I love watching these tight English streets. I lived in London for 10 years and am originally from Lancaster, but grew up in NZ... some of the roads are scarily narrow!
And what do you think of the silver Fiat air vent covers that reflect into the windscreen? Ours has those too, and I think they'll be the first change we make! The interior of the Compact looks really bright and airy. We're looking forward to the review walk around video.
Hi Jared..when I go away I do sometimes eat quite badly I will confess 😂 Brilliant news on the Adria and yes we have the 160hp auto and absolutely love it. We have already done 1800 miles. We dont notice the silver vents, it seems to be the angle of the camera that catches that reflection.

Great video, guys! At 17:35 you passed a lovely, privately owned site, Leadstone Camping, which my wife and I have used for the past 5 years! Andrew & Sarah run a well maintained, friendly site with all the facilities, spread over 4 fields, catering for every type of caravaner and motor-homer (except RVs). All pitches are grass, most have water & electric, reasonable prices (especially off season) with an ‘early bird’ 30% discount if you book for the following year! Check them out

Can I ask guys... about to purchase a '22 DL so have been eagerly awaiting your promised review 🙏 so when I heard you say 'couple of faults/ issues', my heart sank. Can you enlighten - is the Adria moho still a good purchase...?? 😳 Thank you. 😌
Our review is out two weeks today, we filmed it on this trip. One fault is only the second time it has happened on an Adria and is to do with a light. The other two are quality control issues that should have been picked up on. Personally, I would take some convincing to buy any other manufacturers Motorhome. It would have to be very special. We love the DL, even after going to the Adria launch on Wednesday I dont think there is much that would beat the DL. 😊Karina and Jules

😊 No we have so much content lined up and scheduled. Basically though to make the front bed you push the table down and it fills the gap between the two sofas. You then place the spare cushion on top of the table and its made. If you want to email me I might get chance to film a short clip of me doing it if that helps. Karina
