Are UK Campsites Too Expensive? WEST AYTON CAMC SCARBOROUGH

- Опубликовано: 24 июл 2024
- Are UK campsites getting too expensive? We visit West Ayton Caravan and Motorhome Club in Scarborough and stay on a Premium Pitch. Does the price we paid we paid reflect the value we received? We discuss prices, the facilities and take a walk around the village of West Ayton to find out.
VAN GEAR
We use an EcoFlow Delta Max 2 with solar panels for our electricity on the road. We never have to plug into campsite electricity supplies during the summer months. You can find them here amzn.to/43Mm8CQ
We use these lights in the van amzn.to/42WVXbq - they are USB powered, last ages on a charge and they are detachable so you can take them to the toilet block at night time.
This is our trusty diesel heater which we've had zero issues with amzn.to/46fVG6i - it is very warm and extremely economical. We upgraded some of the parts which can be found here -
Fuel line amzn.to/3PDxTr5
Exhaust amzn.to/46cammI
Turret amzn.to/3PmLrH9
Drill bit for Turret fitting amzn.to/3NEEPCT
Hole Saw for Turret fitting amzn.to/3NjmR7i
Heat Proof Sealant amzn.to/3Nb40eG
Claire uses the heater in combination with this oversized hoodie which keeps her warm even in the Alps in winter amzn.to/42JG6Nf
Our water tap is USB powered, lasts ages and doesn't let us down amzn.to/46aamDN
Our sink is just a sink but works well amzn.to/445I2kb
We use 2 Jerry Cans for fresh and waste water amzn.to/3PlSQGv
These are our blackout curtains that are light weight and block the light brilliantly amzn.to/3XcCpyp
Our windows have this stuff across them amzn.to/3NDn0Uv - we keep them closed with these press studs - amzn.to/3qRqUAm
This handy humidity and temperature monitor is good for keeping an eye on the interior amzn.to/3CDw5Xi
These are hands down the best travel towels. They are small to pack and work like magic at drying us off amzn.to/3JmDjCH
When we cook in the van we use our beloved Ridge Monkey which can be found here amzn.to/3PDxa9l and my old Trangia Stove which is bullet proof. They can be found here amzn.to/3PkRRX6
We use an iPad for navigation which is awesome. We mount this over our existing radio with these mounts amzn.to/46qcYxF - they are really good and we haven't had any accidents.
The van is insulated with this insulation amzn.to/3XiVFKM - Claire is usually cold in the house but finds that she is always warm in the van.
We used this for sound deadening the van which has made it so much quieter on the road amzn.to/3Jm8EFr
CAMERA GEAR
Our footage is shot on a GoPro which we highly recommend for travel as they fit into your pocket and your footage is stabilised. These are well worth having and are way better than your phone camera. You can find these here amzn.to/3pl9pb3 - because we use external microphones we use a media mod that allows this. You can find this here amzn.to/3NCxR13
You may notice that we have really good low-light footage in our recent videos. This has been made possible with the Sony ZV-E10 camera. It's a vlogging camera with a swing-out screen and gives excellent quality images without being too big and heavy. You can find these here amzn.to/448TED2 and the lens that we use here amzn.to/3Nj1brU - the lens is extremely important for low light.
One of the problems with the Sony camera is it is stabilised as well as the GoPro so we use this gimbal when out to smooth out the shots.
We use a lot of batteries when out and about so we have added these extra batteries with chargers to our collection amzn.to/3NDVtm4
This is our tripod which is great as it doubles as a monopod amzn.to/3p3IGzW - it's lightweight and easy to carry around.
I love our camera bag, it's easy to arrange things how you want to with individual compartments, it's got a waterproof cover and you can strap the tripod to it amzn.to/3qRa0Si
We use Comica C3 wireless microphones so that you can all hear us clearly. They are a budget mic but really good for capturing dialogue as we are out and about. You can find these here amzn.to/3Nh32xF
These memory cards work really well for our 4K footage amzn.to/3Jmkj7e
The UK is a nightmare for being ripped off by greedy campsites, unfortunately the worst culprits seem to be affiliated to the camc, I am also bombarded by emails, trying to sell me courses, insurance or other stuff.
As I cannot justify the prices they try to extort I will not be re-joining.
Great honest Vid, letting people know what they are letting themselves in for using camc site
Hi there. We try to be honest and straight talking Yorkshire folk so very glad you liked it.
We have come to a different site this weekend and it’s not camc so we can compare….. watch this space…
Literally crying with laughter over the "privacy wall" ( might be to do with having a bottle of Aldi's finest Malbec), C&MC offering exceptional value for money 🎉
Thank you sooooo much, you have made my week 😂😂😂
Hi there. You just cannot beat Aldi for a cracking bottle of Vino. That reminds me we need another bottle for the van so just nipping to Aldi
We’ve just cancelled our membership, they are to expensive for what you get and we prefer independent sites where you get value for money and better facilities. Love the videos👍👍👍
We totally agree about independent sites. Our favourite independent so far is one in Filey on the tops. Great facilities for me and excellent nature for Andy…. Oh and a pub in walking distance 😀
What a great video makes a change for people to tell the truth about the cost of sites, since Covid sites have all jumped on the band wagon with prices, I understand costs have increased but like you pointed out you can get a room for less. No site should be over £30 per night, we have stayed at west Ayton before Covid a few times for the Pickering war weekend and never paid over £30, love this type of video hopefully site owners will take note of guys like you, but I fear it’s a supply and demand situation. More floggers should start and highlight this day light robbery and stop just pushing the freebie’s they receive good or bad! Keep it coming peeps 😁👍
Hello, glad you liked our video, our honesty and jokes!!
No one has asked us to promote anything… I would have thoughts crocs would have by now 🤣🤣
We've just spent 17 nights on an adult only, fully serviced pitched site, (electric and facilities included and dog friendly), in the very South West of Cornwall, between Helston and Porthleven. £37 per night, with WIFI included. During the entire stay there were only 6 of the 12 available pitches occupied. Second time we've been and its a real find for the area... Heading back again at the end of August for another two weeks......
Sounds fab. We love Cornwall and went to a static caravan site there about 2 years ago. You will have to share the details with us. We hope you love your next trip in August and that you get a sunny week
I love it at Bracken farm as well
That still sounds expensive to me.
£58.00 pound is a rediculous amount to pay, I stayed on a campsite in Thornton Le Dale which isn't far from Scarborough on 31/4/2023 and it was £15.00 per night for 2 adults, and the pitches are about 50 metres apart from each other, so everyone has their privacy.
Hey. I’m checking that place out pronto….. if there’s a pub close I’m interested 😂😂
even cheaper in pickering
@electricragtime we will be going to the Pickering site soon
Hi Clare and Andrew. I've just booked 9 nights in June at West Ayton then I found your video, dony know if I've done the right thing now 😊. But at least it meant I found your u tube channel, absolutely love it. I'm at work on an oil rig off Blackpool with nothing to do I've binge watched over half of your videos and it's kept me busy. Love it, keep it coming, it's the highlight of my day.
Hilarious first vlog I have watched. Hope there are more UK site reviews like this 👍🏻
Loads!!! Glad you like our videos 👍☀️
everytime i heard the drums i pictured you and Claire sat there with the bongos drumming away!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🥁
Outrageous price stayed in more secluded lay-bys than that if it 😊 wasn't for the cl,s i wouldn't be a member.
Thanks for the vlog enjoyed it.
So glad you liked it. Was it my crisp talk!!!!
Come to think of it I think we have probably stayed in less secluded car parks.
The price seems to have gone daft doesn’t it. The privacy wall was funny 😂
It’s very random the prices sites are charging, you can get a great site with hookup and nice views and facilities for £20-25 (the odd under £20) still but lots seem to be going up and up such as the one you visited, imagine it would be around a tenner cheaper a year or two ago?
Interesting video, all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Hi David and Rachel.
I bet the poor campers on the plot next to us were very upset about the lack of privacy wall 🤣🤣
Happy travels to you
Just booked West Ayton for 9 days in June. Then I searched reviews😊 but at least it made me find your channel. Im at work on an oil rig off Blackpool with nothing to do so ive binged watch over half your videos to keep me going. Absolutely love it. Keep em coming ❤
It’s a lovely clean site, you will enjoy. Walk down to the pubs 👍😁
Welcome to our channel 😁happy you found us. Love that you watched a load of our informative videos 🤣🤣
@Stchristopherofatlantis 👍 just counted up and I've watched 71 episodes since the 18th of April 😂 when we next go away I'll send a picture of our caravan. My ambition is to be a roving reporter😊
We will show your report and pictures!!!!!
Thanks for taking time to watch. We appreciate it
You make people laugh, brilliant video, beautiful couple x be safe guys x
That campsite was terrible value wasn’t it 💰
And this is why 90% of my park ups are free , a campsite can offer me nothing that the wilderness can not as long as I have done my shopping before hand :)
Am lucky enough to have a camper van with it's own toilet, shower, fridge etc. which means we can stay in small offgrid back-to-nature type sites with few facilities. Just booked a New Forest campsite for 3 nights for £10 per night (only includes water and chemical waste facility. We have stayed in more expensive sites, but avoid anything that costs over £30/£35 per night. The number of rules also seems to go up the higher the price is.
Hey I can only dream of a camper with its own toilet?!?!
New Forest sounds excellent, you must keep us updated if it is any good. Happy travels
@@Stchristopherofatlantis Composting toilet and a toilet tent could be a good solution? Birthday/Christmas/Anniversary present for Claire?
I hope Andy reads this ……..!!!!! 🥴
Bang on vid guys… totally agree. This is why we stick to CL sites now- avg £15 a night and nice and quiet. CL sites are everywhere and easy to find…
Hi. CL sites are a great way to stopover. We have been to a few now and enjoyed them
Have a great week
We regularly use an adult only site near York, lovely and clean, lovely shower and toilet block, bus stop outside sight to get into York. We are going for three nights next week, £119.00, all in pitch, they’ve just informed me that next year they’ll be adding £3.00 a day on for electric, but if extra electricity is required it can be purchased from the site office, so next year we’re talking £43.00 plus a night😱😱😱…I think we will be looking elsewhere…
Hi. How are you? Thanks for watching our video.
The site itself sounds great, right up out street, esp for getting into York easily. Now… that price is just crazy!! Such a shame.
Awe we must have been there the same time as you! We were there for bank holiday, like you left it late to book anywhere so tried this site. Love the vlogs good old Yorkshire humour 🤣❤️
We hope you enjoyed the sunny seaside!
I hope you didn’t witness the crocs. Let’s hope we see you next time 😀😀
Love you two, you're both nuts😁 love your sense of humour, love Pablo too🐶 x
Hi. Andrew is the very nutty one and I like to think I am less so…. 🥴
Another great video guys. PRICE = OUCH!!!!. For that money I would expect a stunning sea view from a pitch.
For that money I expect Andy to stay at home but he keeps coming with me… 😂😂
Shocking, the price of UK camp sites is getting ridiculous and while people pay the higher prices, the owners will keep increasing them. We have stayed in some great sites in Spain and Sothern France. I have just checked and for this time of year, prices are 20-35 Euro a night with EHU, great facilities, views and a pool. Cheers K.
Hi there.
Spain is in our must go list so very interested in your recommendations. Andy can practice his Spanish!!!
Absolute outrage that price. Fuming that poor Pablo got stung 😢. You were 100% in your observations.
Cracking review video!!!
APT 🐾 xx
(That’s all for today folks)
Bet you particularly loved the not so privacy fence 😂
@@Stchristopherofatlantis I’ve seen taller fuller weeds 😂
We always loved this site but since redevelopment we haven't been due to the inflated prices, and found this on most sites within the CAMC network,, I do think they are starting to outprice themselves now, and we don't use the club sites much at all. Do a lot of rallies now with the MCC average cost £12 p/n
Hey! It was a really well kept site but us Yorkshire folks like value, and we truly feel we didn’t get it here.
Rallies sound great, we have never been on any… so that’s something for our list.
I camp in a tent and wouldn't want to stay there. It looks like suburbia, I'm surprised they don't charge for the "ornamental grass" between pitches.
Hey there, thanks for watching our video. Happy camping ⛺️ and we hope you have great adventures
Just found your channel. Where do I start........ I am older age than you guys (60) but glad to see that you are reviewing these sites. So i have been caravaning for 30 years and motorhoming the past 6 years. I realised how much of a rip off sites are when I started Motorhoming. I am a member of both clubs for the past 36 years, i havent been to a proper club site for the past 6 years. Main reason is value for money, CL and Cs sites are where I go now if I am not wild camping. You may think i am living in Scotland. No , north of England , lots of places to pull up for the night , in England , only thing I wont do is put up an awning or perhaps not use my deck chairs, that depends at times if no one about then whats the harm . No need for privacy fence as I am usually remote location. I often get into an area where there are picnic benches for free..... i be respectful to other people and try to be inconspicuous which is tricky as I have an 8 mtr motorhome. Anyway , I agree sites are taking the piss! i REFUSE to pay there rip off rates. Fortunately I have had 36 years of freedom. I am prepared to walk away from it all if it continues to be stupid and unrealistic. Glad to have had the time I have had, but feel sorry for the future generations. Thats why I am glad to see you guys pushing back , keep up the good work and enjoy your freedom.
Hi. We are glad you found our channel 😀 North of England is such a fantastic place so pleased to see a fellow Northerner!
We wish you many more long and happy travels 🚐
We bought a caravan I 2017 and joined the caravan club and stayed here a few times. It was getting far too expensive to stay anywhere, store the caravan and have a car big enough to tow it. Ended up selling it, caravanning isnt budget friendly anymore.
Hi, How are you?
Yeah this site was particularly expensive for what you got in return which was a shame.
Thanks for watching 🚐👍☀️
Do you remember when pringles were stackers? Xxx 😮😮😮😮 privacy bush in progress. Have you got your own tap? Now that is premium with an electric hook up. I am a typical yorkshire pudding i love a good deal xx liz
Claire here. I can’t stop eating Pringles.. I am obsessed and can eat a full tub but will have to stop because of the motorhome pay load issues 😂 😂
You are the best RUclips ever😂❤
Thankyou Sam
Totally agree. We've been CAMC members for 25 years and are considering cancelling. We're currently on Castleton CAMC site on a non awning pitch for £46.50 per night. I might add u pay the same whether u have an awning or not. We are not allowed to put a toilet tent up because it's a non awning pitch but we have taken up a third of the pitch with our tiny VW camper compared to great big caravans and a car on other pitches. We were handed a double sided A4 sheet of 'rules' and every toilet cubicle has more rules on the doors about pitching up, time of arrival etc. We are grown ups being treated like children. So different to our welcome at a CCC site in Scotland a few weeks ago!
Hi there.
The Castleton campsite is on our go to list actually as I know it’s not too far from the pub!!
Scotland sounds good… somewhere we haven’t been so please tell us where to go!!
@St Christopher of Atlantis errrr there are more pubs than people in Castleton. Beautiful village with equally stunning walks. Village 10 min walk from site. Be sure to explore the back roads too. You just have to do the whole of the NC500. We took 16 days spending 2 days at each site to get the most of each area. You can't hurry cos you keep stopping due to the stunning scenery 😀
Thankyou so much for this. We’re going to go go go xx
@@Stchristopherofatlantis if you're considering Castleton then there's a lovely independent site down the road in Hope either that or stay on one of the access roads to Mam Tour
I’m going to look for that now….! Thankyou
Long time since we've been on a site in the UK... is this the going rate these days!?
That privacy fence was hilarious.
Great video guys!
Hi there. How are you doing?
I felt most sorry for our neighbours who had also paid for a privacy fence and had to watch me attempting to BBQ our burgers in bright pink crocs… no one wants to see that…
@@Stchristopherofatlantis No... no one wants to see that, you're right. We are doing great but also looking forward to getting back to the UK for a few weeks.
with the cost of the motorhome/caravan on top, surely it's much cheaper to airbnb a place (or adapt to off-grid)
Hi there, thanks for watching our video. Yes you have a valid point there 😀
I thought it was meant to be cheaper up north. At least that’s what my mate (originally from Barnsley) tells me.
In Dorset you should be able to get on to a decent site for £20-£35 with all the facilities. I’ve opted for farmers fields recently: Wooders Campsite, Wareham forest. Pitch up where you want. £8.00 per night per adult. Camper vans/caravans £5.00 extra. Hot and cold showers, toilets bar open on Fri/Sat. Steeple Leaze farm near Kimmeridge, similar: £8.00 per night per adult. Toilets: Farmyard and in field - Showers - Rubbish disposal - Washing up sinks around the site - Drinking water from stand pipes in the yard - Camp fires and barbeques allowed - Car parking by pitch?
What’s not to like?
Hi. Thanks for watching our video.
We are Barnsley folk and those places sound fab. Will look them up. Have a great evening
Most of the camp sites I use in France are €10-12 a night but sometimes it’s as little as €8. In Spain it can be up to €16. For that I’ve got all the facilities that I need.
What a bargain 💰 Sound good to us
"We might not come back here". Ive a funny feeling they wont be having you back 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi. How’s things?
Hmmmm yes you have a point 😂😂😂😂
Yes that is expensive especially for scarborough darn sarf we only pay 35.00 maximum fishery creek hayling island. Liz xxx😮😮😮😮
Terribly pricy, especially for us northern folk 😂
Robbin buggers. No wonder folk prefer to wild camp.
As you say much cheaper to camp abroad , I’ve also stayed twice on the campsite Jungfrau in Lauterbrunnen, think I paid €130 for a pitch on their small camping field no electric for 3 nights. Just down the road at Aareg campsite on lake Brienz was €27.
Great vlogs guys, you are both northern comedy gold.
Hi. Thanks for watching our video.
We loved Jungfrau, we think one of the best sites we have been to, esp overlooking that waterfall!
Glad you like the Northern banter!
Just done a heck. Because that seems outrageous. It only £23.50 night grass with awning & electric.
£32.60 premium
Hi. It must have been the time of year we went. 😞
Hope you are well
Brilliant. They are out for the money and that’s all. Totally agree with you about the pitch, £58. One should not have to worry about the level
Privacy fence !!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂.
As for watching your video, your sense of humour brilliant
I could not stop laughing. !!!
Thanks. Wish You Well
Hi. Thank you so much. We are so pleased you laughed…
Keep watching for more humour next time. Enjoy your weekend.
Well I totally agree these sites are way too expensive. Currently in France and not paying Over €21.00 with swimming pools. Unfortunately people will pay and as you mentioned, you got the only available pitch, so sold out. As long as they can fill them the prices will rise.
Hello.
France with a pool in the sunshine sounds like a cracking deal to us. We hope you are having a fab time.
Happy travels
The CAMC are getting silly re. prices now. We recently camped in Florence, Italy. £68 a night, standard pitch with hook up. 2 euros bus ride to city. The campsite had three stunning swimming pools, a camp shop that would put Sainsbury's Local and Tesco Express to shame. Still expensive though.
Florence 😍😍 it’s in my dream list.
Would you recommend?
🇮🇹
Some of them really take the mick but then the 'glamping' turds have caused it. I just want a field, nothing more.
Hi. Yes the expensive not so privacy fence was terrible 😂 😂
Thanks for watching our video
Generally we have found that club sites of all types are a rip off. We have for several years now only use family owned sites. Most recent was in Cornwall, Chacewater Park. An adults only site which is well kept and has all the facilities that are required in two blocks that were very clean and tidy. All that for £150 a week even in the summer. Obviously not a pristine a site as this one but who actually needs that. Back there again in August.
Hey. This sounds right up our street. I will take a look at this.
Happy travels
Simple answer. Yes. !!
Hi there
Simple reply. Agreed !!!
Mad,oh Beryl
😂😂😂
CAMC site pitch prices are barmy. We only stay now at CL’s or CS’s, which have also hiked prices but for around £15-£20 you usually get a spacious pitch, great views, EHU and sometimes hard standings with water and drainage. Families with young children do need more facilities and generally go for the main club campsites, I feel for them.
Hey there. Hope you are having a cracking weekend!
We are going to try a CL so we can compare. Our kids at grown up now so we can go anywhere really (yeah yeah we don’t look old enough 🤣🤣)
@@Stchristopherofatlantis 👍 Great vlog by the way.
Let’s be honest, there’s no reason those pitches should be more than £25 per night, £30 at a push ! And to not be level is as much of a joke as the privacy screen 😂
Hi. They were pleasant but totally overpriced for what it was. Pub wasn’t too far though 🤣🤣🤣 Hope you are well
Did they mean a privet edge 😂
That’s got to be one of the biggest rip-off’s ever
Great video tho 👍👍
Hi, Yeah we felt that it was, such a shame. We had a great time down at the pub!
Oh dear 🙄you got proper value for money there, not ! I would also be very pissed if i paid that for 1 night and its defo not premium. Love the video btw.
Hi. It was terrible value and the others on those ants must have thought the same.
Have a fab day to you (super happy you liked it)
As you said, the table and bench should have been wiped clean when you arrived at the pitch and a disposable BBQ should have been provided.
It wasn't even a nice looking site.
Hi. Thank you for watching our video. We hope you have a great evening
Did l get ripped off?? Yes, we cancelled our membership ,private sites have more for less.
We have been going more and more to private sites and they have been great 👍👍
Really fun, informative video 😃👍
OMG, I can’t get over the price. Absolute robbing b**tards. I’m only a wannabe van lifer and I honestly thought it’d be about £25 to £30 a night. £50+ is bonkers money. You might as well go to a hotel for that. Not worth it at all. I used to live in Scarborough and Ayton is miles from the centre on the very edges of the town. I wonder how many people book that thinking they’ll be near the sea… 🤔
Hey, I bet it was great to live by the sea when you were in Scarborough …
All I can say is it was a good job the privacy fence wasn’t any higher or it would have blocked the sun out for us 😂😂
Yeah you are right you have definitely been robbed but I think that’s because they saw your crocs omg seriously no one who lives in Barnsley should ever be seen in crocs lol
On a serious note we are members of both the CAMC and the CCC we are seriously considering ending our memberships because the price increases are astronomical, we are supposed to be in a club that cares and all they do is put up the prices. I honestly believe people should stop using them that’s the only way the prices will decrease rant over .
We are currently staying within a ten minute bus ride of Venice and we are only paying 35 euros there’s a pool, two bars and a restaurant on site I think the caravan clubs need to take note.
Andy loves his crocs.. he says they have changed his life!!!
In Venice?! There’s 2 bars?! We are on our way…..
found France and Portugal to be best places to get a reasonable priced camp site ,with much better facilities, UK has gone greedy "because they can,and people will still pay it"
Hi there. Portugal is high on our list so we will definitely go… happy travels
Yeap rip off, we only stay on CL or CS if we stay on sites at all. That was so over priced and you were right in respect of a money grab. I won’t be renewing my membership for sure. We are lucky in that we don’t need sites other than to dump our waste, maybe upgrade to a bigger van, self build, Clare would love a toilet and see you splashed out on some snazzy crocwear 😂
Loving the suggestion of a bigger van with a toilet… essential!!!!
Andy says crocs are the future.
The CAMC have become very expensive, I am a member at the moment but I’ll probably not be renewing my membership. To stay on a CAMC site costs a similar price to a reasonable hotel room. We just want somewhere to park over night, we use our own facilities the only thing we need is somewhere to park, somewhere to dump grey water, a tap to fill our fresh water tank and a toilet waste emptying point. Surely that doesn’t cost fifty to seventy pounds? And then when you book there’s different prices for the number of people in your unit, so a solo person gets a price then each additional adult costs ten to fifteen pounds extra. Ok the sites need maintaining and cleaning, but the prices just don’t weigh up, I don’t mind paying a fair price, but the CAMC have gone way over fair prices.
Hi there.
We agree and are happy to pay if it is good value. On this occasion it just wasn’t up to how it was described which is such a shame.
Happy travels to you. Enjoy this weekend sunshine
@@Stchristopherofatlantis Booked on a ferry for Monday, eight days in France, off on the annual trip to the Le Mans 24 hour race. 120 euros for seven nights in a campsite very near the track.
Sounds awesome… ☀️
You were conned cheaper to stay in a hotel 😊
Hi there. Thanks for watching this, yes very pricy! Eek
Have a great day
The Caravan Club is expensive.
Eeek yes 👍
3:26
We have had campervans for over 50 years and been a member of the caravan club for over 30 years. Cancelled my membership yesterday. Definitely a rip off.
Hi. Yeah it’s pricy esp if you want a decent privacy hedge 😂
Thanks for watching our video
This all started when the 21 foot rule came out campsites dramatically increased over night and rip us off.
Hey.
I need to read about that, I don’t know what that is. Let me look….
Yeah before the site could cram us in then the 21 feet between units came in so prices went up 3 fold because they weren't having as many units on site .in the 90s I used to pay £6 a night with ehu .those days are long gone.
sure it didnt say a Privity wall :)
🤣😂
What a rip off. Mind you if people pay, they'll keep charging. Thanks for the warning 😐
Hi there, happy travels and enjoy your weekend
Jacked in C&C getting too expensive
For us Barnsley folk it definitely is!!!
I think you might have chosen a site managed by a descendant of Dick Turpin. Then all sites are increasing in price. They lost money during Covid and are trying to get it back in a short time.
Hi there. Happy sunny Friday
I think that the site had not really delivered on what was sold to us. When the trees have grown I am sure the experience will be better. Saying that we had a greeeeaat time
But you know the price before going, just saying
Fair comment… but I was hoping for a decent privacy fence to hide my crocs!!
😳😳😳 Been robbed 😏😔👍
Hi there.
Us Yorkshire folk don’t like that 🤣🤣 We hope you had a great sunny weekend
So you've gone on the most expensive pitch and complain that it was expensive? The last C&MC site I stayed on cost £21.00 per night. If you had gone instead to the C&C Club in Scarborough you could have gone on grass only for a fraction of the price you paid. I recently paid £9.30 a night for a grass only pitch on a C&C Club site. Maybe you should change the name of this video to "Are premium pitches worth the extra money?" as judging the price of camping in the UK by quoting the most expensive pitch you can get seems unfair to me.
Hi. Thanks for watching our video.
Even if it was level it's definitely a rip off..
It was the BBQ shelf that did it for me…..!! 🚐
The caravan & Motorhome club is a none profitable organisation, but are charging more, than private sites and affiliated sites. Us members, should start complaining at the AMG. Those premium pitches are total rip-off. Been a member for 12 years, not for much longer.
Hi. Thanks for watching us.
We had a great stay but felt the price for a premium pitch wasn’t good value. 🚐 ☀️
Barnsley war cry , Oww Much!!!!
After 5 years we've just ditched the CAMC membership as clearly not value for money or sorry a rip off!! There are better independent campsites we find that are cheaper.
CAMC sites are "nice" but you must park within a mm of the space rules/designated fire break, facing the right direction or face the Roth of " I'm the warden and in charge, officious purple polo shirt wearing male, at a site that may or may not be near to where you where you were the next resort down the east coast for example
Hi, we have only been to one independent place in Filey on the cliffs and it was brilliant. It wasn’t too busy and Andy didn’t yell the Barnsley war cry once !!! 🤣🤣
well and truly ripped off....one born every day
Hey, thanks for watching our video
You want a story? Camping and Caravan sites require you to book online. You can't ring the site, or should I say, it's very rare you can ring them.
So you go online, if you can get a signal in Scotland. You say you're in a campervan, and 1 adult. You are very unlikely to get a pitch. The Camping and Caravan algorithm wants a unit, 2 or more adults, 2 kids, and a dog. The algorithm wants the best money making booking. So if you are on your lonesome, you've go not chance. If you're looking for a pitch around 5pm, you might be lucky, because the algorithm knows the window to get that 2+2+1 booking is getting very small.
I've been rejected by countless Caravan & Camping Club sites.
Hi there.
This is terrible to read… I have noticed that some independent sites take phone bookings, another reason to use them I think.
Happy travels in your campervan
Have to say that the C&M club serves a great purpose. It puts al the grumpy motorhome and caravaners in one place. You know the type. The ones that moan because someone has put up a flag pole, moan about sliding doors on camper vans or kids playing in the play area.
We are just interested in the best walks and the closest pubs 🤷♀️🤔🤣
And don't forget do not be taken ill or your car breaks down within 21 days of arriving on site and you have to cancel or bang goes your deposit. Has this club become the heartless club ?
Hi. We didn’t think too much about that and it’s a valid point
Thanks for watching 👍
Snobs are willing to pay.
