- For those of you that have been following Jasmine (age 5) and Mr Darcys journey. We impulsively bought Mr Darcy nearly 4 years ago when Jasmine was 1 and a half years old … and this is the dream I have been manifesting for years - and we’re finally there!! Living our best life 👏🏽
What a fabulous Saturday!
We headed to the woods with friends and our ponies again! There are 9 riders …. And only room in the trailers for 8 horses so …. Mother/daughter 2 up! We really do have the most fantastic bunch of horses - and best group of friends.
7 of the 8 horses are being ridden in the Total Contact Saddle (the 8th pony is normaly but wasn’t one spare today 😜)
I definitely started something with these, buying my first as a last resort and now won’t ride in anything else!! Convert!!

This is my favorite all-time video. These ponies and children look like they were “joined at the hip” since birth, magically trotting along in good spirits and happiness. Imagine picking flowers while riding. Cantering in the forest trails in the summer sun. Thank you for this joyful, hopeful, wonderful video. The world is OK after all.
Mr. Darcy is the sweetest of boys , so willing and responsive to the girl he loves. I so loved watching this.
Those giggles and friend group noises are priceless! This was absolutely wonderful!

I totally LOVED this video, Charlotte! When I was DECADES younger than now (I'm 78 and live in New Mexico, USA) I was a Pony Club instructor. I totally loved working with the children. I loved their enthusiasm and bravery and kindness to their ponies/horses!!
Ditto. What a treat. Charlotte's doin' it right 😉.
Never an instructor but have coached many a kid who otherwise wouldn't have had the opportunity to mess w/a horse & build their confidence.
Have ridden all over incl Europe (,my work took me to odd places,) & there's *no* place as special as N New Mexico. 👍🏼

Charlotte -- you are an assume mom, and pony wrangler. You stay so calm and upbeat while gently encouraging your crew along. A very lovely video. Mr Darcy is a dream of a pony that your daughter will remember forever.

What a good pony! He actually seems to feel a kind of responsibility to be quiet. And he has a really good and really lightweight rider. A good combination.

What a sweet pony. The Shetland I started on was pure evil. If he couldn’t scrape me off by bolting under a low hanging branch, he would rub me off on a fence post. But he never discouraged me from riding!

Thank you so much for showing how great ponies can be ❤ They get such a bad rap! People don’t realize how many lovely ponies there are out there! Ponies who adore their children and take such good care of the kids as they learn. I dare say there’s many more ponies out there with the patience of a saint, but they’re priceless to their owners, so rightfully, they can be expensive. I mean, who can blame them for wanting to keep the ponies that are such an important member of the family? I’d do the same thing. 😍
Unfortunately too many people decide their kids need a pony without any clue what’s involved, they just think having a pony sounds, or looks, fun. They don’t realize finding a great one (like ALL of the darling ponies in the video❤) takes more than going to an auction, looking on Facebook marketplace or somewhere along those lines. Alas, too many people don’t realize the actual cost of the pony isn’t the biggest expense of owning horses. They don’t realize paying more for a proven, higher quality of pony will pay for itself by saving money and heartache in the long run. Of course it’s possible to luck up and find good ponies through those means but people lie in their ads, you can’t get a vet check at an auction sooooo…. Good luck. 🫣

When the children are hanging on the reins, the ponies mouth pay the price, have you thought of using a soft rubber bit instead of iron, they are kinder on the mouth, while children are learning the art of gentle hands, it looks a nice ride

What happens to the pony in a year or two when the liitle girrl iS to big for him
He will stay with us forever - maybe go to stay with a friend to teach their little ones in the future. He’s been with us nearly 4 years - and jasmine has many more years on him. I won’t sell him - but I also don’t agree with keeping these fabulous ponies in a field doing nothing , when they have so much to offer. We would never be in this position if his previous owner hasn’t sold him to us when she outgrew him. He absolutely loves his life , never not wanted to be caught, never been mean, never refused or unhappy.

I used to ride as a young girl with my friend. We had to duck underneath low branches and we would shout “Holly bush” as we went under. In our 60’s now and still “Holly bush” makes us laugh. Great memories ❤

I didn’t land on the ground, but got slapped pretty hard when I was riding double and my friend in front didn’t tell me to duck in time… lol
