I can't believe she gave me her trust in the end with that little act ❤Everyone go check out Sundays for all of the help they are giving us in helping dogs like Princess! www.rockykanaka.com/sundays
@rockykanaka you are incredible! I love your videos I so would love to do a sitting with dogs with you!! Keep up the amazing hard but beautiful work you do!
Thank you Rocky for letting this amazing beautiful girl know that she is loved. You made me cry but for a good reason. ❤. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I adopted a dog that was this shut down, wouldn’t stand or walk. Very skinny and full of fleas. Wouldn’t go through doors or up stairs and with a busy environment would have a meltdown, sounded like you were killing him. Took a little time and turned into the best dog. Had him for 12 years and lost him a couple of months ago, he is greatly missed.
@@D-B-Cooper it’s the ones that need that extra understanding and patience that turn out to be the best! I have my Remy who I rescued when he was 2 years old and was very shut down and no experience being inside a house. He’s the biggest love bug now and loves cuddles and squeaky toys. I’m sorry for your loss. We lost our cat two weeks ago too. 💔
I often wonder if previous owners have ever seen a video of their pets, how much it hurts the animals to be there. It’s like they are in jail….”what did I do wrong”, “Where’s my home, my bed, my people “? Poor sweet doggie 😢😢❤❤
I'm a veteran with PTSD and your videos are so relaxing. I can empathize with each dog so much when they are tight and forcing themselves into a wall. I can see their emotions in their eyes, the fear. Then, when you get them to relax, I can feel your happiness, and the dog's relaxation states kick in. It feels amazing. When Princess goes from tight muscles cowering in your lap to eating treats and panting and actually feeling good being held, its so nice. :D Thank you for what you do!
@@calimero600Many veterans do have dogs for just that reason. Dogs are so great for so many of our vets who suffer with PTSD. Dogs are very good for anyone who suffers from a variety of such mental stressors, not just those that come from military service. Did you know that just petting a dog is mentally beneficial, people who have them live longer than those who do not. I’ve been a nurse my whole life, since I was 17 years old and that’s many, many years. I wouldn’t trade those years but all those years primarily in the ER cannot help but leave their mark on your soul. There are faces in my mind that will never leave. I wouldn’t be without my dogs for anything, they don’t seem to mind being my therapy spirits and I love them as dearly as a child.
That "I'm not here, you can't see me" melting into the wall literally broke me! I rescued a great dane who had been starved and abused her whole two years, and when I met her she was trying so hard to curl into a ball the size of a chihuahua, shaking like a leaf and trying so hard to be invisible. She was my best friend, absolute soulmate for six amazing, beautiful, far too short years! I was 14 when I found her, and since then I have always rescued, and always picked the dog that needs the most support, that everyone else walks past. The dog that's curled up in the corner, wondering if they'll ever know love again. THAT is my dog, and every dog I've rescued has shown themselves to be a dog in a million!
I think we may be soul sisters because I'm the same way. Give me the cat or dog that nobody else wants for whatever reason, I'll happily adopt them and let them rescue me.
I’m a psychotherapist and I think it’s wonderful that you explain psychology because someone out there may be feeling the same way. So your helping dogs and people ❤❤❤
@@alexandrapomeroy8050 yes, exactly as he spoke of stress & anxiety, the physiology of it, that makes sense for me, about me. Thank you for this remark. As I listened to him I thought of my issues. 👏✌️😊
@@alexandrapomeroy8050 his words really resonated as someone with PTSD. The toll this disorder takes on my physical health is significant but often overlooked/dismissed/invalidated by medical professionals. This was validating. That poor baby. I know how she feels. Pure fear. Dear sweet baby 😢
10000%. I have C-PTSD and OCD so 2 different "the fear part of my brain is malfunctioning" issues and I find these videos EXTREMELY heartwarming because I see myself in these dogs and it makes me unbelievably happy to see them come out of that fear. (Especially the catatonia-like shutdown)
I'm not sure why this video came up on my timeline but I feel like it genuinely just changed the trajectory of my life. I don't know why I waste so much time trying to get validation and approval from people when there are so many dogs who need love. Going to seek a shelter to volunteer in first thing in the am! Edit: I found a place near where I live in Vermont to volunteer! I’m currently being vetted after sending in an application. OMG, when she tried to ball up further into the corner and the fear in her eyes... My gosh, I wish I could have acres and acres of land to take these dogs in. I fall in love with all of them featured on this show.
Rocky, I saw the video about PRINCESS about 2 weeks ago, and I left a comment immediately. My wife and I are in Houston TX. If Princess is still available for adoption, we would be happy to have her in our family. We already have a husky (Mama).....Mama and Princess not only look alike, but share a similar history. We put in the work, and Mama is now the most adorable dog in the world. We are sure that Mama can/will help Princess overcome whatever she's going through. My wife would make all the necessary inquiries first thing tomorrow morning. We hope she's still available for adoption.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Click on the title of the show just below the video. More information will drop down, including a link to how/where to adopt Princess. Fingers crossed.
Saddest thing I’ve ever seen. My love for dogs makes me feel so sick . I’m so happy you were here for this sweet darling. It’s going to take so much love and patience.
Poor little baby girl😢. Thank you, Rocky, from the bottom of my heart for giving these loves a voice. Thank you, all, for caring and supporting this process❤❤❤
She was turned in by animal control. They don't know the exact circumstances, if the owner called animal control to fetch her and for what reasons. Sometimes neighbors call animal control if a dog is misbehaving or mistreated. She could have been a stray before - since we don't know where her owner got her from. Could have been also a family death or whatever. She looks so traumatized.😢
For her to be so shut down like that is heartbreaking 🥺 That precious girl should be brimming with energy and love. I have faith though, she's gonna find her forever home 💖💖💖💖
She looks almost identical to my husky - she's all white and this just breaks my heart how she's trying to crawl into that corner. Thank you for taking time to help her out.
Because humans are capable of being the most violent/derrange/demented/evil creatures on the planet...more so than any other animal ever could be...but luckly there is the opposite as well.
@@angelahill3556 Because SOME people are bad. We're the only animals on the planet capable of metacognition and having principles. But if you grow up abused, or raised in an environment where no one else teaches or shows respect for animals or other people then you're probably going to be just like that.
@@Peaches-i2i I was raised by two narcissistic sociopaths and abused all my young life into my adult life until I stopped it. I never wanted to hurt animals all I wanted to do was help them because there were a lot like me. We have free will to do good or do bad people choose to do bad.
I am an elderly lady who is 72 yrs old. My husband is 74. We lost our small dog in February. I feel like i need a companion again but I fear that I might can't take care of it. But yet I feel the need to have one. I loved my little Buddy. He meant so much to me.
@@dianneradford3192 have you considered fostering??? There are so many dogs in rescues and shelters that need a loving temporary home and these organisations are begging for foster homes, plus they cover all the costs 💕🐾
Talk to the shelter. I have heard of some rescues that let seniors foster senior dogs and they take care of of vet costs and transporting Might have something loke that intour area
Could I recommend a cat? My old lady is 15, her health is going, and so is mine. So far, she’s great. Overweight, but happy and playing. Eating like the pot bellied pig she looks like. But she has cancer. I’ve decided against treatment. It’s not money. She is a dignified old lady, still loving toys and being a boss. I won’t cause, or allow that to change. When it’s time, I’ll do the right thing. I always wanted a solid grey cat. I’ve had a few, over the years. They died, before I could get them grown. My daughter has promised me a grey kitten, when sassy crosses the rainbow bridge. I also have a ferret. I DO NOT RECOMMEND A FERRET. I love her with an intensity that runs my life, but she is chaos in furry noodle form. I’m not being disloyal to my current critters, but, I need a critter to love, and a cat is peaceful.
I had a beautiful Husky named Zeus. Rescued him from a breeding farm & he had fleas & internal parasites. Went straight to the vet, got him healthy and he lived to 13. We had to say goodbye this past May due to old age and the pain due to his old age. During those years, we rescued a dozen cats from the streets and Zeus loved them all. Since his passing, I've thought about rescuing another dog, but finding one that can live peacefully with all our cats has proved very difficult. So far, we haven't found that special dog. I wonder if Princess has had positive interactions with felines. I'll be following her progress and praying for a beauty family to give her a new life with them. She's soooo precious and the Momma in me wants to wrap her in my arms, sing softly and shower her in kisses and cuddles. Thanks Rocky for your beautiful heart. Your purpose is so important! God Bless
Thank u for ur rescuing and looking for a puppers that likes cats. Zeus would want u to continue giving love to another puppers. ❤ Love is a terrible thing to waste. ❤❤
Because some people are purely evil and get their kicks from hurting creatures like this beautiful girl. They will get their judgement and punishment in the end. It's a cruel world we live in unfortunately.
Not necessarily. Just being abandoned by her owners could cause a dog to shut down. She's terrified, doesn't know where she is or why her family left her.
There is a group, and I wish I knew where I had the information - if I find it I will post it - that actually used to, and I hope still does, setup soft music piping through intercoms on the walls for free - another shelter had TVs on the walls with either soft music or dog TV or such - and the difference it made for the animals was just night and day, absolutely amazing, the peace for the animals was palpable in each place that used these methods. Please, this is something that I can’t believe isn’t done everywhere. It really makes a difference with the animals to have soft music or viewing - or both! - for the precious animals to decompress by.
We rescued a 10 month old Husky that was found on the side of the 91 Freeway in Riverside, CA... you could count her ribs and she was beyond traumatized. She is 13 now and has been the most wonderful addition to our family and we feel we hit the Husky lottery when she chose us.
Same we rescued a husky mix. He was 2 yo and you could see all his ribs and that was after the rescue put 10 lbs on him. He is the sweetest boy, he has some osteoarthritis issues as he's getting older because he had some fractures before he was rescued. I don't even want to imagine what he went through in those first 2 years. 😢❤
Princess is really shut down. You have such patience with these frightened dogs and you have won her heart. She is so pretty. I hope she finds a really lovely home. Princess is going to make a wonderful companion to a lucky person.
This girl is so very cute. I have tears seeing how shut down she is. I just want to love her so she loves herself. Thank you for the work you do and the education you share.
@@edp3202 i know whoever takes the time..with love n patience will show her she's SAFE now n LOVED. I have only respect for those that help her. Blessings..
I chose to go homeless to keep my dog. So glad I did. BTW I am disabled and elderly. I have taken on 4 dogs since the passing of my best friend. I believe he would be pleased with me because he used to take me to dogs that had been run over but we're alive. He saved a mother in the middle of a night where she was having babies in a football field. Yes sir! He was amazing.
Have a dog that acts and looks a lot like this one. She's 12 now, still doesn't care much to be pet, doesn't show affection. But she likes to be close to us. Sometimes if they've been abused, that's all they have to give. We love Luna, and believe she loves us, she just doesn't know how to show it. We don't mind, she gives us the best of what she can, and we do the same. It's sad when they're this broken.
I love what you said here. Our adopted dog was not abused - she was 6 months old when we got her and now that she’s 2 years old - her whole world is tennis balls. She absolutely has no off button when it comes to throwing the tennis ball around in the back yard. She’s not shutdown by any means. I will say was hoping for a more affectionate dog but she’s not the most affectionate girl. However, just because a dog isn’t exactly what you want it to be, doesn’t mean that dog is a “throw away”. Just like people have their own personalities, so do dogs. That doesn’t make them any less in need of love or an outsider that people should get rid of. I accept her for who she is and love her all the same. ❤
@@tevssn I think that's wonderful! Just accept her as she is. So many won't take the time. We've had Luna since she was about 2 (the vet was guessing). On the way to work one day, I saw a man trying to chase her into a road busy with dump trumps working the area. The next time I saw her, he was in his yard beating her with large stick. She was very abused. I stopped to talk to him about her one day and he told me he was going to kill her, I offered him money that if he could get his hands on her (and don't hit her!) I'd be back and pay him. She's never had a hand raised to her since, other than out of love. Luna (Lulu) is our sweet, shy baby :)
What a beautiful girl. It kills my heart seeing a dog this afraid. It should never be a thing for any animal. Im sorry baby girl. You are loved. I promise!
Rocky, Thank you and.the people that you work with for all of the Animals that you share with with us.May God Bless you all for the love you have for Animals. Many Blessings to you all. Will always keep you all in our Prayers.
I adopted a dog who came from an amish breeding situation. He was only 23 months old and did not know how to be a dog. They put him in an auction and a kind lady stepped in and bought him, had him neutered and than ask a rescue near me to find him a forever home. I've had him just a little over a month now and he has come so far. It brought my heart to see this beauty to be so shut down....she has so much love to give and the joy when she took that first treat....wow! Thank you so much for doing what you do. God bless you.
Yeah, what's up with Amish Breeders in Pennsylvania? Not sure if the dog you're referring to was from PA. But, I had a short, weird experience with one, and now you brought up another Amish experience.
@@irritatedkitty7301Idk but there’s a rescue organization in NY that has posted on YT that rescued horses from situations where the horses weren’t treated well…they also came from Amish communities.
@@irritatedkitty7301 I have a neighbor who rescued an older dog from Amish breeders in PA. The dog apparently had never even been on grass before. Spent her whole life in a cage, and the second she got too old to breed they got rid of her. I'm dissapointed to find out that this isn't an unusual situation in Amish country.
I can’t believe anyone would leave negative comments about what you’re doing Rocky! I am so in awe of what you guys do to help these animals whose spirit has been broken. As humans we can all understand what it’s like to feel abandoned or alone and you’re giving them such a gift, the gift of your love and understanding. Thank you for all you do🩷🩷🩷
I can't imagine abandoning your dog. I walked the streets of NY every day walking in and out of leasing offices until I found an affordable apartment that allowed dogs. I didn't have much money when I was younger and got my dog but I played with her with sticks and balls we found in the park. I shared my food with her, just plain veggies rice and some chicken. I spent hours training her after reading books and watching videos on how to train your dog. Dogs can be expensive if you buy them everything, but even if you don't have much you can still give them enough. No matter what I went through she was there by my side. My friends watched her for me when I needed it. I wish people understood how much responsibility a dog is, and I wish no dog ever was abused or neglected ever again.

It makes my heart glad to see her getting the help she needs. As someone who’s had PTSD my whole life, I understand the fear state all too well, kindness and patience truly are the key!
All animals I've owned were rescues. Dogs, cats, horses, and pygmy goats. I'm certified in massage therapy for animals (dogs and horses specifically). All had been abused, some for years. I used massage work to gain trust and help them understand "hands don't have to hurt".. The 180° they made in behavior was so amazing it still makes me cry when I talk about it today. My present kitty just turned 16. He gets a massage daily since the day I brought him home. ❤
Huskys are emotionally very fragile. It is said that dogs are like 3 year olds but with Huskys it is more like a 2 year old. They have an amazing capacity and need for love ... more than any dog I have ever owned and I'm old. This Husky had gotten to the point in its life when it knew it was loved and returned that love. That is why she is so crushed because losing the owner she loves and she knew loved her is devastating to such a soul. Her story, what we can make of it is very sad. Huskys who do not act like this in shelter do so because their owners didn't genuinely love them and so they had not loved the owner. Huskys often behave detached. This increases if they have no attachment to their owner. They are just owner. The last Husky I rescued was so feral when I got her all the neighbors were afraid of her. It took a lot of time and patience but a year later she is the sweetest girl you'll ever meet and she obeys me ... most of the time (she's still a Husky). She has never had any training of any kind (she can sit) but she is sweet because she knows she is safe and obedient because she loves and is loved. Very few people truly understands these dogs. For an initial meeting you did everything right. They love the sound of a human voice. It calms them. It doesn't matter what you say.
If America or California have awards for good deeds, Rocky should be nominated. So if there is, many of us would cheer if someone from California would enter this wonderful caring and clearly loving human. Rocky you are a star. What you do MATTERS. ❤️💖💟💫🐕🐕🦺🦮🇦🇺
The state of Princess during the first 25 minutes of this video LITERALLY has me bawling! 😭😭. It breaks my heart to see a beautiful creature so dead inside, most likely from LACK OF LOVE & COMPANIONSHIP! 😢 THANK YOU for choosing to work with Princess and giving her the WILL TO WANT TO LIVE. ❤❤
If you’ve been broken from life you understand what these dogs have been through. I empathize with these dogs. If I could I would adopt everyone. The Asher house does that. But, I am 68 years old, have had 2 new hips, a new back, now I am battling cancer. But, it makes my heart happy to see you doing this!
You seem like a wonderful, compassionate woman, Judy. I hope the cancer can be successfully treated so you can enjoy life with your "new" hips and back...and maybe a cat, dog or small animal (a pair of rabbits, guinea pigs). Take good care.
36:41 I think explaining how a fear response presents itself in dogs is important to both old and new viewers. It's a good reminder for those of us who have watched your videos, and it's great education for people who might really love dogs but don't really understand them.
The beginning of this video brought me to tears. I've never seen a dog SO shutdown. Poor baby!!! The things some animals endure is heartbreaking. So grateful for kind-hearted people willing to take time with them and/or offer them a loving home.
I have never seen a dog more shut down as Princess was during the first half of this video. Some of these dogs truly need more time with you than other dogs. She is such a gorgeous girl. Her eyes are amazingly beautiful and almost look like 2 small circles of light. Now she needs a really good brushing, a good bath, more time with you, some training and a very loving home who will love her for the rest of her life… never giving up on her.
I'll take her. I had a husky who passed from old age years ago. My daughter has a beautiful husky now. We love them. Great dogs. I'm in KY if you can get her to me. It's just hubby and I, so we have lots of time, space, and love to give her.

It was heartbreaking to see this girl pressing her head to the wall! I admire that you have the courage to touch a dog in this frozen state. This time you seemed to have a "hopeless case" - but in your lap she came a bit out of her shell...
Because of watching Rocky’s video, we have adopted a 2 year old Alaskan Husky crossed with a Shepherd. She is so amazing, we are working through her trauma, but oh my word, we just love her. She loves our grandchildren and our cats! As well as other dogs! She is an answer to my anxiety! She is so beautiful and loving!
A year ago I adopted almost the same dog. White Shepherd/Husky mix. It was like having Helen Keller. Intense fear and lack of socialization. First 6 months were intense--play is the answer. My guy is the most gentle, kind dog, but once out of his shell there is so much joy and energy. We got him another dog to help with confidence. Confidence is the opposite of fear. Thanks for helping Princess, She will be amazing!
The lovely darling just came to life. She is classy, gentle and gorgeous. She deserves the best of everything and complete security, safety, happiness and understanding always.
I went over to a local shelter a few days ago and loved on them. They were all so friendly, I was kind of surprised. I can’t take any home with me, but I’m going to go over and volunteer as I’m able. There was a husky that was my favorite. She was adopted yesterday to live on a farm. I was so happy for her.
Rocky, please do another video on Princess. I wanna know how she's doing now. She is such a BEAUTIFUL dog. You owe your subscribers another video about Princess........ PLEASE!!!!!!!!????😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The explanations are very necessary and I thank you for helping her and the rest. You do an amazing job. I pray though that you also make sure to do extensive background and home checks and visits before placing again. Otherwise it’s a crapshoot and you’re risking the animals to be placed into absolutely horrific situations with people who are good actors but evil inside. I have heartwrenchingly seen this too many times. Just as you would with a baby, a child, you would not just place them without extensive research. As such, these animals are trusting you, so please do not betray that trust, but do everything possible to place properly into a good and loving caring forever home. God bless precious Husky and you all for going the extra distance to do right by these precious souls.

Oh poor, poor baby. Such suffering for stray dogs. Shelters are hero’s. Rocky is a hero.
She's not a stray - she was turned in by her owner(s).

Why?????? Why do people treat dogs so badly that they end up like this? Thank you for helping her!
Because humans are capable of being the most violent/derrange/demented/evil creatures on the planet...more so than any other animal ever could be...but luckly there is the opposite as well.
Why why do people treat all of God's sentient beings like disposable garbage. That goes for all animals in my opinion.

Maybe you could handle a small older dog? That would be a win/ win.
I'd foster a senior dog if I were you. They need some love without a lot of the energy and training requirements that comes with pups.

0:50 The tears have started already. Bless her heart, she looks so frightened. Somebody hurt her. I don’t know how anyone can hurt an animal.
Yes must have been werry bad fore her to act like this.
It's pure fear 😢
Because some people are purely evil and get their kicks from hurting creatures like this beautiful girl.
They will get their judgement and punishment in the end.
It's a cruel world we live in unfortunately.
She could just be acting that way because of being in a shelter 😢
Could be that she's absolutely grieving for her owners.

Could she be in pain? From arthritis? Maybe get her a blood test? You are wonderful for allowing her to be her
Those eyes are mesmerizing. She’s so beautiful.

I mean I do think it's fine to give away your pet as if you can't care for it. In fact you should. You just need give it away to appropriate place.

How about a mule? Have you ever brought a mule around to trusting you? Asking for a friend..... 😢
I give my dogs massages daily and they look forward to them!
They won't submit to just anyone. Strong, beautiful, emotional dogs.
Rocky you deserve a huge hug.

I'll take her. I had a husky who passed from old age years ago. My daughter has a beautiful husky now. We love them. Great dogs. I'm in KY if you can get her to me. It's just hubby and I, so we have lots of time, space, and love to give her.
Poor Baby. This is just heartbreaking to watch😔 🙏🙏🙏Thank you.. Rocky🙏Blessing’s
This poor puppy😮😢Seriously- this just broke my heart open. -I’ve been locked up for so long and watching this video reminded me of me and how I felt. Thank you so much for what you do !!I think I need a dog- I’m seriously crying --I’m a grown ___woman--
It was heartbreaking to see this girl pressing her head to the wall!
❤
This is So Heartbreaking 💔
Please God , 🙏 Give this Beautiful fur baby a Loving home to live .
Aww poor girl she is so scared. Thank you Rocky for helping her and all these precious animals. ❤️
I love the way you talk to her directly and give her positive affirmations 🥰❤️
The lovely darling just came to life. She is classy, gentle and gorgeous. She deserves the best of everything and complete security, safety, happiness and understanding always.
I went over to a local shelter a few days ago and loved on them. They were all so friendly, I was kind of surprised. I can’t take any home with me, but I’m going to go over and volunteer as I’m able. There was a husky that was my favorite. She was adopted yesterday to live on a farm. I was so happy for her.
Isn't she gorgeous! Best of luck for her recovery. I love kind people like you.
Rocky, please do another video on Princess. I wanna know how she's doing now. She is such a BEAUTIFUL dog. You owe your subscribers another video about Princess........ PLEASE!!!!!!!!????😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Have you heard anything about Princess?
I feel so sad for this girl. Thank you for helping her
The explanations are very necessary and I thank you for helping her and the rest.
