Honey was adopted on 8th March 2024 - international ladies day. So cool. Now she can heal and settle into a loving new home. (News posted on Rocky's website)
Hooray for Honey and her new family!🎉❤ She's sure to become a great companion! All of the dogs we've had over the years have been rescues. All were shut down like this sweet dog, and all of them with patience and love learned to trust again❤ God bless you, Rocky for the work you do! Happy life, Honey-Girl😊
Thank you for the update, I tried to check out the link he provided and it basically just did a play-by-play of everything he said in the video with no update, and there were so many ads on the mobile site I couldn't even see full screengrabs of her from this video... I'm so glad to hear her People found her, I was about ready to hop in my car and drive to wherever this shelter is and get her myself (that's why I even clicked the link in the first place) 🥹
@@liquidminds That's reductive. Dogs don't care what you call them, it's just a string of meaningless sounds to them, so I'd personally have no problem naming a dog "Plague" or "Terror" or anything like that, it would actually be funny to have a dog with a name like that be an actual bundle of love and joy. Plus "Venom" can be a pop culture reference, the movie came out before that dog was born. I could name a dog "Venom" - although I'm pretty sure they'd get nicknamed "Venven" pretty soon.
Soooo much concern!!! Poor, sweet girl. She hung her head and neck so low….heart completely broken. Her eyes did all the talking. I hope she finds the best forever home with the best humans to ALWAYS love her.
My little senior rescue has those exact same Eyebrows of Great Concern, lol. The first six months I had her, she mostly just hid in the corner of my living room. Over time, she veeery slowly shifted from coming out periodically to let me pet her before retreating again to her corner, to actually wanting to be out near me all the time. It's so wonderful to see her blossom from a dog a lot like Honey to a full-blown goofball!! Honey will get there too!!
3:44 The way her head lifts nervously when he says “that’s bad” about her being in the kennel so long. Makes me think her previous owner may have called her a bad dog often
I just adopted a senior black shepherd last Friday, 1 day before her euthanization. She was very similar temper. She had been in the shelter since 11/15/2023. They had her as reactive to other dogs. I took a chance on her and she is such an amazing, smart and loving dog and gets along with my other dog wonderfully so far. Thanks for this video, I pray it encourages a massive softening of hearts for viewers to go adopt.
I spent part of my early childhood with a male black shepherd. He was called Wolf. Very loyal but he did chase and bite sheep (he lived on a sheep and poultry farm) if left unsupervised! I do understand why some people would think black GSDs are sinister but they should make an effort to look beyond appearances.
@@JPcommunicates Not so. If he's feeding her, he wants her to be alive and okay, dogs know this, so yes, feeding does instill trust. Things that wanna hurt you usually don't feed you.
When I was young, we found a German shepherd hiding under a bush in my Grandmothers yard. My Dad visited the dog for days, and just fed her. He finally was able to get her out of the bush and brought her home. After a few weeks she finally warmed up to the family. She was the best dog we ever had. I see the same thing in Honey. If I lived close to California I would get her in a heartbeat. With the right care and love, she will be someone’s best dog.
GSD'S are amazing family dogs but they do take a little while to warm up to strangers. Mine are amazing, they are so attached to us and us to them. This poor little girl is so so sad, she deserves so much more.
When he said “this is bad” referring to her being there for 10 days, I noticed she responded with a fearful look. I am guessing she was told she was “bad” often. She is such a good dog. All dogs are good dogs. It’s the humans that are bad!
It might also be the infection when he is saying bad. A Medium tone that drowns lower towards the end is a anger sound. She may or may not understand the word but you can bet she knows the tones. Those are instinctive (listen to a growl, it has a similar slow drop. They respond well to happy sounds (high and jump up towards the end, almost sing songy like you are talking to a kid.) Notice when he's trying to enthuse her he goes to it.
This was so heartwarming, to see someone patiently working to earn this sweet dog's trust. You really understand animal behavior. It made me happy to see that someone posted an update that she's been adopted. I hope she's living her best life now! 🐾💕
I spent 5 years as a county animal control officer in one of the largest and most affluent counties in California. While there was lots of satisfaction, the frustration and anger that much of the work engendered was really hard to tolerate. I am watching lots of suspicion and way too many fear responses from this dog. That, along with almost no response to the praise tells me way too much about her former owners; as in people who have no business owning a dog. Project dogs like this girl are demanding but always worth the effort. She just really needs a home where she can trade her affection for affection in return. Most dogs deserve far more than they get.
Just like not all people should have children, not all should have pets. An animal is a huge responsibility. If one is able and willing to take care of one, the rewards are ten fold
Similar thing happened when my own dog was renamed from Zeus to Zen. He used to be very aggressive until we changed his name jokingly and ever since then, our little pitbull mix's attitude changed completely. Now he's a sweetheart, bounding over to new and returning people.
Breaks my heart to hear that someone basically said “we don’t want her”. I hope all the “unwanted” dogs find good happy homes where they can be loved and appreciated.
May you be blessed for this 💕 💕💕💕💕 This is why I am trying my best to set up a standard animal shelter for stray and vulnerable animals like these in my community 😓 Your donations go a long way to save and feed these animals, I hope and I believe the almighty will make a way. It has always been my dream and I will not quit till I achieve it Ameen
Nobody be discouraged by this behavior if you get a dog acting like this. My shepherd from the shelter acted like this for a month but he found his favorite rocking chair and laid in it by my bed and slowly started opening up. Now the dog is the most playful and talkative dog I’ve ever seen. Hes a literally 100 pound baby who submits to the little 20 lb daushand because he knew the other dog was here first. It’s so sweet to watch. But just dont be discourage by this behavior and make it why you never get that kind of dog
Exactly, I've only had shelter/homeless dogs. Most have been scared for varying times but all opened up and all have been great beautiful best friends.
Had a cat like that, he would shiver and hiss it was hard to watch. We let him sleep in my closet till he eventually wanted to explore. Our friendship began when I gave him fresh chicken. Now he follows me wherever I go
She looks SO SWEET from the very start! Such sad, heartbroken eyes. She warmed up pretty darn quick, all things considered. My husband and I adopted two shelter dogs, two years apart. Both dogs were said to be better off as the only dog in the home, reactive to other dogs. When we brought the second boy home, it took about a week for the two of them to settle into sharing the home but now they play together, cuddle and nap together, and it's obvious they seek each other's company. We just have to believe in them, give them a safe space, and give them a chance!
The whole sitting process and just letting her get comfy reminded me of my granddad and his dog, Cuddles. Cuddles was abandoned in the woods about eight miles from the nearest town, out where my granddad lived. He'd put a bowl of food out on the porch and sit with him and talk to him, and after a few days Cuddles would hang out on the porch with him, which then progressed to letting my granddad pet him. After a week, he was able to convince Cuddles to come inside. Cuddles was still pretty iffy on hanging out with a human, so he stayed in the entryway for a week, but eventually warmed up to my granddad and started roaming around the house. They had 10 wonderful years together. My granddad named him Cuddles because, according to him, "he looked like he needed a cuddle and a hug". Honey has the same energy.
shes not stupid, she knows what you where doing, shes just testing the waters, slowly warming up and sussing your intentions...but such a beautiful dog. if your someone whos struggling to pay for dog food, you can make a nice stew for the family, and the dog can eat that too if you let it cool down, just dont use hot ingredients like chilli or peppers. its something i did for my dog and family when things where stretched thin... she lived a full 16 year life for a staff cross pit longer than most of the same breed. so i was doing something right.
once i had com on hard times between jobs and i had no food for myself or my pup so i went out into the woods and didnt come back until i had food for her i went out prepared to go hunt anything that moved that was edible, its not about not being able to afford a dog its what your willing to do for them
Gosh, I stumbled on this randomly as I'm going through a horrible spot in my life. Totally relate to Honey and the tenderness you show her helps me feel like things will be ok for me. Just need to let myself decompress and then create some movement. Thanks friend 🧡 🧡
I have a black dog who looks and acted exactly like this dog. She had been in the kennel over 6 months. She has been with me for 4 years but still is apprehensive of strangers and afraid of strange noises. She is also the gentlest sweet dog. She knows she is loved.
I also have a dog that looks exactly like Honey. My Raven is also fearful of strangers. She was brought to Maryland from Texas after hurricane Harvey. We adopted her as a puppy about 4 years ago. She has never known anything but love. I would adopt this sweet girl if there were some way to get her here.
In the 1960s my family owned 60 acres in the country in a mid-Atlantic state. The humane society had a very small shelter a couple of miles away and my mother got to know some of the people there. A beautiful, small, female GSD came into the shelter but they had no room and my mother brought her home to foster her. As a child on a farm, we took care of the animals but I was informed that the GSD was 'vicious' and that care was needed when feeding, etc. The real story was that she came from a home where a couple had one child, a son, who was beating the dog and the dog eventually began to respond aggressively to the son, and began to dislike male humans. That dog became part of our family, became a strong protector of my younger sibling, and we loved her to the end of her life. It seems that Honey may not have been treated well, likely didn't received the positive love and care she should have, and only needs a good person to turn her around. I hope she finds that home!
That's heart felt. I'm so happy you guys changed your dog life around. ❤😊Life sure isn't fair. I hope Honey gets a good life. (I always wish I could do the same for animals, to make animal life a little more fair.( I can donate, though)😊 God bless you.
That black dog in the shadows of the back of his kennel ended up being my childhood dog and he was the goodest boy a kid could’ve asked for. Love the video ❤
but your fear is based on the actions of a fraction of a fraction of dogs, do you judge all humans based on the actions of 10 of them? same logic here, be a rational adult
@@anomaly3215 A fraction of a fraction? 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs in the US per year. Having a fear of dogs is not unwarranted or uncommon. Be a rational adult.
Poor sweet baby! You can Tell she's just a love bug. The pox on the people who did this to her, and blessings and thanks to you for saving her! She is absolutely beautiful, and I hope she got a very loving home. ❤
I hope she gets a new forever home soon! Two years ago I adopted a black pitbull/lab mix from the shelter named Danger. She’s had 4 previous owners and no one was interested in adopting her. After adopting I changed her name to Juno and right away it was as if that has been her name since forever. She’s extremely loyal, kind and loving. Honey really reminds me of Juno and I hope she’ll soon find the loving home she deserves as well! ❤
As a child my parents explained this concept to us every time we got a new pet and I truly believe they were proud of their names- Star, Storm, Diamond, Leo. And I've experienced the same thing as a kindergarten teacher in a very low income and gang ridden area. Idc if everyone including your mother calls you Lil Ray Ray or Chili or Bam or J-dawg. I'm calling you Rayquan, Achilles, Amber and Jayden. They are totally different kids in my classroom. As a side note, years later I was helping Jayden with a college application and where it asked for 'Street name" he wrote J-dawg. Names effect our entire lives. 😮
@@imakedamoney420smokeweed Almost everyday, mainly because it’s just really unbelievable. I guess it has just been bad luck for her. I’ve worked with rescue dogs before and the craziest reason for owners to bring their dog (pitbull) to the shelter was because he wasn’t “aggressive” enough. People sometimes come up with the craziest reasons to abandon their pets, so the fact she had 4 owners wasn’t something that scared me off. That being said, I visited Juno 2 times before adopting her, just to make sure we were a good match for each other and to see if there were any behavioral problems which could’ve been difficult for me to work with. Turns out she was and still is perfect ❤️
It may actually have been the comic book character- she's all black with a pale patch on her chest. It still doesn't suit her, though. She seems like such a sweetheart. I just want to pet the poor girl.
As a human that went through the system and came out of it traumatized..i relate to rescues like honey here. Just need love, patience, people meeting you where you are in the moment and speaking life into you. Thank you for not seeing them as a lost cause. You remind me I'm also not a lost cause. Some animals just need extra love, just like rescue people.
Oh wow. Your sweet comment. I hipenyou know youre valuable too and doing well out there. Dont think of yourself as a rescued person. You just grew up in care that's all. Youre you. ❤
What a sweet little fluff 😢 How could anyone just abandon her and not think shes worth the fee will baffle me for all of time. And to call her "Venom" is not only an insult to her, but an insight into the life she could have previously had and how her last "owners" thought of her. Cant wait for her to find her forever home and finally get all the love she deserves. ❤
The name is given by insecure owners who want to appear tough when really they’re just slack and immature. They tend to name their kids in a similar aggressive fashion.
UPDATE 03.08.24 - Honey was ADOPTED thanks to everyone sharing her story, congratulations Honey! Source: Rocky's website in the description of the video. edit: 03.08.24 means 8th March 2024
She’s a beautiful dog. The fear in her was intense, every move gave her anxiety. I wonder if she’s been abused. I’m so glad venom is not her name now, that’s such a ugly name for such a beautiful dog. I absolutely love watching these dogs come out of their shell with love and positive affirmations. These people didn’t give her unconditional love, the fee was the breaking point for them. She’s so much better off now having a chance to have a loving forever home. I pray HONEY will find one soon. Thank you Rocky for what you do! ❤🐾
That’s what I was thinking as well - the people who named her “venom” and clearly taught her fear just dumped this poor girl. I hope she gets the new loving owner she deserves!
@harrietlivengood6793 - “That’s such “an” ugly name” Is the proper grammar. “An” is used before a vowel, a, e, I, o, u, and sometimes Y. Not in all cases. I was taught this in the second grade. It is something that is misunderstood, and misused by many people. Not Every single situation holds true, but the majority of the time, if You follow this rule, You will be correct. Stay Positive, Vigilant, Be Kind, Happy, Caring, Respectful, Loving, and You Will Be Fabulously Blessed. 🙏🏽 ♥️ 🙌
I adopted a dog who was on his 2nd shelter and one failed rehome. He had soooo many emotional issues. I didn’t get him until he was almost a year and had spent almost that entire time in shelters. He’s a cattle dog/pibble mix. When I first got him he wouldn’t stop crying and cowering and wasn’t potty trained. He’s so smart he was house broken in about 1 week and was a completely different dog within 1 month. He still has issues with fear nipping (so we use a Baskerville muzzle on busy trails or meeting new people) and is especially uncomfortable around men. Pretty sure he was abused. Came to me with scars in his head and a chunk missing from his tongue. Besides that he’s the absolute funnest, most affectionate dog I’ve ever had. He’s 11 now but still acts like he’s a puppy. Project dogs are soooo worth it. Please don’t give up on any dogs who have emotional issues. 🖤
I've rescued and fostered pitbulls from the shelter. They are the hardest, but give them love and time, they are awesome dogs and went to amazing homes.
I adopted a 2 yr old beautiful dog. She was totally afraid of a certain body type of men. She's now 13, and I think her time is getting short. She's the most wonderful, sweetest dog, and I have no idea how anyone could have abused her.
@@kathleenredick275 - Unfortunately, there are some real monsters in the world, who should never be allowed near an animal. Thanks to you, your boy got to experience the love and care all pets deserve. I’m sure it was rewarded and then some! Our pets are such a blessing, aren’t they? I hope when it is his time that your happy memories get you through and sustain you. I’m very thankful for people like you. ❤️
Let’s think about this for a minute… they said straight out they don’t want her, they keep putting off paying the shelter fees, since they were on VACATION the first time she was there, it’s clearly not because they can’t afford it!! I don’t believe she got out of the yard, they let her out of the yard because they don’t want her anymore. So sad, as are all these cases, because she’s such a sweetheart, and deserves a loving home, and someone would never abandon her, but give her all the love she deserves!! 🐾❤️
They wanted a dog because others had one but didn’t want the responsibility to care for her. A lot of people don’t deserve a loyal pet. Enjoy your weekend.
@@smartmarketing173 Exactly😢, I can never understand someone who could do this, why do they even want a dog in the first place. They are obviously not animal lovers.
You have no idea what their financial situation is. You don't know how long ago the vacation was, or where they went. You don't know if someone lost a job since then. And the fact that she was hurting another dog might've just been the proverbial straw. I am dealing with two dogs who got along fine, then suddenly they're having fights, sometimes several a week, with blood drawn (including mine). It is very difficult, frustrating, frightening, and disheartening. I'm thankful they are SMALL dogs, I can't imagine going through this with one or both the same size as Honey. I'm figuring out ways to manage them without needing to get rid of one, but that doesn't mean everyone can do that. Especially if there are children around. Better for a dog to be surrendered than a child get injured or killed.
Dude when I take my pups out in the summer sometimes they pick a nice spot and plop down to sunbathe I'm like cmon we can't stay out here all day girls xD
She looks just like my Lolly. I adopted her here in Spain and she was the same, scared, in a corner. I adopted from a post I saw on fb without ever meeting her in person. She was broken when she arrived and would not leave her corner for a week and I could not get her outside without carrying her (25kg) for several months. She hates treats, they did not interest her, but now she lives for treats. Her bed was in the corner in the living room the first week. So I slept on the couch to keep an eye on her and not leave her alone in a strange place, but after a week I decided to go to my room. I tried to convince her to come, even carried her there, but she ran immediately back to her corner. Then I woke up in the morning and it was the most beautiful gift, she had come in the middle of the night and lay beside my bed on the ground. Although she did not interact with me, this was a great sign, as it was when I left the house and came home and she had taken one of my flipflops from the entrance into her bed to sleep with. Now, 3+ years later, that is still her spot next to my bed, she chose it, even though I'd love her on the bed, she prefers this spot. It took a good two years for Lolly to behave like a more normal dog, and even now she will never be completely fearless and "normal". The amount of abuse she had in her first year of life was unfathomable. She is a princess in the house, but scared on walks and will always be, but that's okay, I am getting used to my girl. I am so happy that you mentioned that the transformations are not always fast. When I got Lolly I had watched so many videos and assumed within a week or few months she'd be completely transformed, but this did not happen and I got really down. But now I realize, I had expectations from social media videos, but what really happened was that (with time) I had to get used to her and she had to get used to me, and then we just figured it out together over time. I just discovered your channel and it brings tears to my eyes to see people making such a difference... and yes! Names are important, they resonate meaning and energy. I am so glad her name is now Honey
Same with abused horses & donkeys. There's a wonderful guy in Spain who rescues them, dogs & cats & assorted farm animals, too. He goes to extraordinary lengths & it will lift your heart to see their successes: Jacob's Ridge Sanctuary. Highly recommend. 👍🏼
:3 adorbs! I just wish my brothers(I have 3 and they're all older than me so of course I'm not gonna be listened to whether I was a male like them or not) never hit our dogs just because they did something they didn't know they weren't suppose to do. We never got rid of them btw and the last dog we got had three litters(10, 10, 3) and we only had others that wanted to adopt them do so, but ended up keeping just two from the first litter just because one of them threw up and the other one ate it🤦♀. I wish our dogs had a better life and I wish I knew even more than I did back then but also I was a kid still in elementary school and in&out of the hospital because diseases exists for some reason, but most importantly, I wish ppl would listen to me. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one doing research and experiments on literally everything I come across as long as I know what I'm doing :/ The only thing they've really only been trained to do(sort of) was sit, stand and "up".(Having them literally jump up on their hind legs to put their front paws in our hands or chest XD ) That one wasn't intended actually😅 but then again, most things are like that... I just wish ppl would always think before doing/saying something and do research if there is any actual true information on the internet and then experiment if not, but common sense ain't common :( and unfortunately, not every little thing you can find will always be found in a "morally correct" way because life ain't fair :/
This is a beautiful dog who met the wrong humans. Rocky’s patience and method is amazing, such a great example. Every dog I’ve had is a black rescue dog, they have all been amazing companions. Thank you for the work you do.
Rocky is exceptionally good with these dogs. However, one thing to note, a frozen dog, tail down & not moving, head down, eyes down, yawning & lip-licking are all signs of distress. Honey's yawn was due to stress, not tiredness. I hope she finds a wonderful, loving home bc she deserves it. 💗 It's wonderful that Rocky highlights the dogs by spending time with them, tries to understand them on their terms &, ultimately, get them removed. What a wonderful person. 😊
Indeed. And when ignoring Fidget signas, esp more than 2 or 3, this can force the dog to transfer into fight, or flight. We shdnt ignore signals and we shd give space. Butbyes, rocky does amazing things!!!
I agree all he is doing is disapointing her just for dam likes and making money on youtube. Hes a weird looking dude anyways i wouldnt go with him anywheres lol
Wow. Ten days and Honey is still so scared and sad! Thank You for sitting with this Sweetheart! Honey needs a Home with lots of Love! Share and Share Again Everyone! Hugs for Honey ♥️
I love watching you work . I am learning every time I watch . I am preparing to start helping in our local shelter as it is changing from the Humane Society of the States to a county entity . Thanks for the lessons .
As a person suffering a long lasting depression I have so much sympathy towards this sweet doggo. I wish it would be a possible for me to adopt her. We could heal each other together. I know it would be a long and probably a bumpy road, but there is a hope even with the most reactive dogs. It was so nice to see her come out in her shell just that tiny bit. Oh, how I wish I wouldn't live on the other side of the world.
I hope you go looking for another sweet doggo for your very own. I may not know what I'm talking about, but I wonder if the love of a dog and all those awesome walks, whether you want to or not... wouldn't be really good for you as well. I wish you the best.
So sorry that you have to endure depression so much….has to be exhausting😕. That in itself shows your strength…be proud of yourself!!!! Dogs have helped me all my life…they are the best!!😊. Good luck and stay strong!!!!!

I have a husky rescue from the shelter that was a part of a felony case of dog abuse and neglect and 3 months later she’s still in the same space as honey. We’re working on it together, her sister has completely opened up (we adopted them together as they’re bonded) and we’re hoping she’ll get there eventually. Definitely gonna watch your videos on techniques to earn her trust even more ❤️
Names are VERY important, so you were right to change it! Honey is what she is!! I suppose you know about this woman called Anna BREYTENBACH, animal communicator from South Africa? If you don't, just watch this video telling the incredible story of Spirit, the black panther. Initially called Diablo... And just like watching you "sitting with dogs", you will cry. I love watching you Rocky, and I am not a dog owner, and " petless" since september when our 16 year old Kibbles passed away. It took us a LONG time to choose her name when we found her and she was already around one and a half... But Kibbles was a good name for her!! All the best to you Rocky and to those wonderful people from "Friends from the Valley" 💝💖🙏 You make the World a better place, so THANK YOU!! Sarah from France
I rescued a dog exactly like this 5 years ago. I never heard her bark until about a year after I got her. She is now my absolutely best friend and looks forward to meeting new people and dogs. It took months before she was able to eat food, and she still to this day grabs a mouth full of food and runs away from the bowl. But I absolutely adore her. She is the sweetest dog and she receives SO many compliments about how sweet and kind she is. I got extremely blessed with her, and I would recommend anyone to pick a dog like this. They love you back tenfold with the love you give them. The loyalty is unmatched. But she never did get rid of those “sad eyes” I hope Honey gets adopted!!!
This series has really helped me to heal. Massive black dog advocate and lover. She looks like she may have akita and german shepard in her. Thanks for unfreezing my heart Rocky and kelly x
@@iamloved223had a black German shepherd her name was Eri from Haus Targa in Belgium 🇧🇪 and her breeder sold his dog for police/ military and protection services. And that kind of competition I did obedience with her and she was my shadow for10 years had four allergies so my dream of starting my own line was put away. We paid for her a dog hotel when my foster parents invited us with everyone to france but could bring her they where afraid of her. In Germany many people asked if they could pet her and heard many times she’s so beautiful! Our kids where safe because although no training she guarded us and the home. Unknowingly she pointed me towards her successor her health went South age 10 and nothing could be done anymore so I was by her side the whole way. Now her ashes sits in a stone ball above my desk. Strangely enough that pup she put her nose against the picture became our new buddy and he had the exact same manner of sitting between my legs although there where so many others. So now I breed border collies. I have my lisence and they go everywhere with us.
I recognize that Australian cattle dog expression and border collie coat coloration. She is very special working breed that needs acknowledgement - not happy just as a pet. They receive affection through constant companionship and being around herding animals. Careful, they aren’t called “healers” for nothing. Ever seen them load bulls into a stock trailer in an open pasture? They are masters of body language and highly observant, happiest with constant learning challenges and structured predictable environment. Could be her previous family didn’t provide enough appropriate activity to satisfy her breed needs so she took out that pent up frustration on her companion. I predict she’d make a great helpmate for a young family farmstead.
She looks like my Auatralian Kelpie! A working dog no doubt, we love in a duplex not a farm but we get plenty of daily exercise. She and her sister are very happy dogs; I've had them since 8 weeks and they're now 14 years.
It's so inappropriate to turn a working dog into a pet before their time. My daughter's little corgi is so busy and restless. I know and admire Aussie cattle dogs. She is such a beautiful dog!!
She looks like my late Kelpie. Kelpies are amazing dogs and it breaks my heart to see Honey like this. Edit: she is crying out for love, mental stimulation and exercise. I would adopt her, but I am in Australia. 😟
I’ve read alot about border collies and associated breeds and they ARE INDEED extremely intelligent and very sensitive. Truly very special dogs. So sweet and attentive and empathetic.
Honey looks like a collie mix. They are harder to break through because they are more intelligent than other dogs so remember past trauma more. Once you've made that connection, however they learn to come out of their shell. I bet that the "aggression" to the smaller dog was no more than a herding instinct coming out! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I had a rescue cat that lived under one of our couches in a spare room for weeks we bought her food and sung to her everyday and after a while things got better and better and now years down the line she sleeps on my pillow curled around my head and has no issues asking for affection and food and play whenever she needs it. I love rescuing animals and seeing the transformation that love and care can provide.
Thank you so much for rescuing her. Well done 👍👏. I completely agree, it's so rewarding seeing a nervous cat become confident and carefree once you've earned their trust. God bless you both
My own cat flew in from Ukraine. She was so, so scared. She cried whenever she saw a human. She wouldn't eat. I tried feeding her rubbing some chicken against her nose, so she would taste it. Then she tried some chicken from my hands. When she ate, it made me cry, I was so happy and relieved, but she hadn't eaten in 2 days, because she was so scared. And now? She follow us like a dog.
I have a shelter cat that I adopted a little over a year ago. She was skittish and frightened for a looooong time. She's very sweet and affectionate now, but it took a lot of time and patience for her to feel safe enough just to be herself. The first time she sat in my lap I nearly cried (and had to text a friend to share the good news!). She was apparently abused by her former owner (she was 4 years old when I adopted her) and it makes me so sad and so mad that anyone could abuse such a sweet girl.
Aww, her ears perked right up when you guys said her name was honey. Made me cry. You can tell she can feel how shes being treated and talked about. Lovee hownyou helped her ❤
This reminds me of another case with a black panther called Diablo. His name was changed and his behaviour transformed from aggressive to calm. The story( which has a twist!) is on the Arja Putman channel, currently 7.3M views. It is an incredible film. Animals know and understand FAR MORE than most people realise! Beautiful work as always with this precious Honey.
I know it’s different I ALWAYS HAD DOGS. I am now elderly and disabled so I can no longer properly care for a dog. So I rescued a cat. She came from a hoarding situation of over 70 cats. It took her weeks to stop hiding except for food and to use litter box. I’ve had her a few years now. Not the most friendly pet. Everything on her terms. Early on several bites and scratches. I’m on a blood thinner my family kept saying return her. Those bites or scratch are rare now. I made a commitment to her and will keep it as long as possible. That’s how it must be!❤
She's been through a lot likely, probably had to fight for her meal and space with the other 70 cats. Give her some time and space, a nice cozy place in a quiet part of the house for herself where she can find peace and isn't bothered. Cats take some time to get adjusted and to gain trust. Once she realizes she's safe and you respect her space/terms she'll probably melt. Cat's are just like that, somewhat different then dogs.
Oh, I've misread, You've had her for a couple of years. Maybe watch Jackson Galaxy's channel here on youtube ? I've learned quite a lot from him about cat's.
Hi, I love what you do with these little ones. I’m not being hyperbolic when I say I never comment. I don’t even watch on a platform that has comment capabilities. But I just want to thank you and your team for helping these amazing vulnerable creatures. The smile on your face when she first took the treat says it all. I started to cry because I could feel her sadness and I got nothing but sincerity from you. So again thanks!❤
We rescued a golden retriever yrs ago. Severely neglected, chained up outside, they called him Nightmare. We took him and as I got him in the car I told him his name was Rusty. He never looked back and loved us to bits. We had him for his remaining 7 yrs.
She's so precious! A lot of dogs shut down in a shelter but her eyes show a dog that's heartbroken but has so much love to give. It's hard to trust strangers when your own people abandon you. I'm so happy she got adopted
I wish I could find my dog's original picture. He was so down and depressed, I couldn't even tell he was part Pitt (label just said Lab mix). He was really emaciated and depressed. He looks totally opposite, and acts totally opposite now❤️ Love my silly boi🦮
@@gohawks3571 it’s amazing how consistent love can totally change a dog, it’s all they ask of us! Thank you for rescuing a dog that deserved a good home
Love the way her poor sad face changes after time with you. Her sadness really is heartbroken. Feel very touched to see how you are kind and sweet with that poor thing. What coud be her story to be that sad and that energyless, to have those sad and frightened eyes when you move. As a dog trainer (France) I help rescued dogs since 13 years and I feel very touched while watching your video.
Yep. People want to show so much love and kindness to an "animal", but give hatred and cruelty to other "humans", who also have emotions. So messed up.
@@janicem9225 Its little different. Of course, Im not including children in this, but humans are usually out for themselves, and giving them kindness is often a dangerous idea. Children are innocent and need protection, so do animals. I believe we have an obligation to take care of our fellow American citizens, especially the elderly as well. But outside that, I consider humans possible enemies.
Just came here form another video with a lady doing something similar to do this with a horse, I copied this comment from some one who said something about how supreme & [ insert every great compliment you've ever heard here ] she was for doing that: I know this SEEMS disconnected, but what trips me out is that you have no idea how many millions of HUMAN guys out there are just like this, and wouldn't get a girl like this to do the same she did for another species, even if her life depended on it. Why is it that she is all the things you said she is for doing it to another kind of creature, but then none like her would get praised just the same for doing it to her own kind?
I’m glad her former owner didn’t want her, now she’ll get real love from a good family which she obviously didn’t get from them! Bless you for helping this beautiful girl! She reminds me of one of my rescue cats! Took a year for her to come out of her shell, but she’s the sweetest, most loveable cat I’ve ever had! Ten years later and she shows me every day how much my patience & love meant to her!!!
I’m watching this Christmas Evening in England and it brings a tear to my eyes, I know that if I could get her here with myself and my senior malamute she’d be loved, sending her lots of hugs and kisses
I see more Border Collie & German Shepherd. She's SMART. Tried to walk herself by breaking out of kennel, she needs stimulation & exercise. BABY GIRL oh my HEART
The treat jerky proves that small steps, often have the biggest impact. I really hope that a family sees her, and they will be able to give Honey a forever home, as she (and the other dogs in the shelter) deserves to have a happy home. The family that will ultimately adopt, are going to receive a form of love that they have not experienced in their lives.
Animals are smart. Our rescue cat Louis was initially called Loki. We chose to change it straight away. His personality changed like a switch. After being pushed around home to home - the one we rescued him from lasting less than a day! He has his forever home with us and is the most affectionate gentle cheeky fluff-ball without so much as a hiss. Honey is an absolute sweetheart I hope she finds her forever home with all the love care and attention she deserves.
I suspect the owner has made up and concocted that whole story about Honey being aggressive with smaller dogs. I just don't believe it. People would go through ridiculous lengths to get rid of their pet. This breed is by nature very protective.
@@NephelyDeBussy Or she has been meeting some small and aggressive pinscher (they tend to be very rude and loud) or bolonese dogs, because of the owners thinking they are cute when they misbehave and tolerating it. I've seen many pinscher ninjas like that.
@@OnyxianFire I concur. I have chihuahuas and small dog owners tend to indulge in their shenanigans the way they wouldn't for a bigger breed... because the mini growling or micro aggression is sooo cuuute. My tiny trolls are actually the ones attacking and provoking the bigger dogs, and I'm aware of it. If it weren't for the big dogs remaining composed, my chihuahuas would have ended as snacks 😭 😁
Thank you for what you do. I rescued a Pitt 2+ years ago & he’s still learning to be a dog. When I brought him home he was food aggressive bc he had been starved. I don’t know how he was still alive- he was literally skin stretched over bones. I had to keep one dog in the crate & let the other one out. He stayed in his crate most of the time, staring into space. When he finally jumped up on the sofa, he would only stay 5-10 seconds, now he wants to spend all day sleeping in it. He used to go fetch his toy & take it into his crate & lay on it, but now he’ll run to get it & lay down & chew on it. He is a happy loving dog that wags his tail all of the time but he took baby steps & he’s still learning. All it takes is love & time, but he’s worth every minute.

This post made my day. Wonderful news.
Her eyes say she's heartbroken. She needs lots of love.
Yes, that is also my perception. This doggy is in despair.
when owners call their dog "venom", they clearly did not get a dog to shower it with love...
They wanted a big black scary dog... not a cuddlebug.
Yes she is def sad
I know poor baby
@@liquidminds That's reductive. Dogs don't care what you call them, it's just a string of meaningless sounds to them, so I'd personally have no problem naming a dog "Plague" or "Terror" or anything like that, it would actually be funny to have a dog with a name like that be an actual bundle of love and joy. Plus "Venom" can be a pop culture reference, the movie came out before that dog was born. I could name a dog "Venom" - although I'm pretty sure they'd get nicknamed "Venven" pretty soon.
Her eyes and brows are so expressive. You can read the concern in her face.

Thank you for being proactive just in time! She sounds like a wonderful dog, as so many truly are.
Good man!
It just goes to show what an amazing thing love is all creatures need to feel loved. You are doing amazing things Thankyou .❤
Why did they euthanize the dog the day after you adopted it?

@yaugch. Because your father was a really human being ‼️👍 Not those kind of people who live right now in this country....
Honey looks just like my first dog growing up. I would take her in heartbeat if I could have a dog.
When he said “this is bad” referring to her being there for 10 days, I noticed she responded with a fearful look. I am guessing she was told she was “bad” often. She is such a good dog. All dogs are good dogs. It’s the humans that are bad!
Possibly expected something else to follow that word which is both saddening and anger inducing
Good observation!

@@GoingHome77 I think you mean Dog Daddy but are we sure she is a black shepard?
She’s beautiful !
Most dogs deserve far more than they get.
thank you ❤ 😢 so sad when dogs are neglected and abused 😢
I was thinking a lot of the same things that you mentioned.
Her former owners are not animal lovers.
Just like not all people should have children, not all should have pets. An animal is a huge responsibility. If one is able and willing to take care of one, the rewards are ten fold

"Honey" is a beautiful name!! It matches the colour of her eyes. She is just an absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous pup!
Similar thing happened when my own dog was renamed from Zeus to Zen.
He used to be very aggressive until we changed his name jokingly and ever since then, our little pitbull mix's attitude changed completely. Now he's a sweetheart, bounding over to new and returning people.
That dog did NOT break out of her yard. They dumped her. Twice.
She doesn't know the word 'walk' always the sign of a neglected dog, she didn't break out she took herself for a walk
:-(
I think they dumped her too .
Loved dogs that are well adjusted and taken fir walks don't run away. Dumped or not, her getting out of there was the absolute best thing for her.

She has honey colored eyes, so that is an excellent name for this beautiful girl. I hope Honey is adopted by a wonderful forever family.
Good catch on the honey eyes. I noticed that golden color when she gave Rocky that funny side “whites” of her eyes look.

You ever stop to think why that dog might've had four different owners before you?
Calling her Venom tells a lot about the previous owners and the reason she is in this situation.
Or some little kid named the dog after a comic book character, though sadly you are likely right

It may actually have been the comic book character- she's all black with a pale patch on her chest. It still doesn't suit her, though. She seems like such a sweetheart. I just want to pet the poor girl.
@@ArtistLunatalia I want to pet her too. Those sad eyes.

I agree with you L. May she recover from the nightmare she must’ve been through, and be happy for always. 🤩💜😍🙋🏼♀️🥰
May God give you extra blessings. You sound like a real sweet person and you deserve it❤❤❤ love light and healing to you
Oh wow. Your sweet comment. I hipenyou know youre valuable too and doing well out there. Dont think of yourself as a rescued person. You just grew up in care that's all. Youre you. ❤
So glad you see the good in this, that is an important strength. Always remember that you, like Honey, are valuable and deserving of love.❤
Love to you!
Such a sweet angel. I hate that she's so sad and timid.
Poor puppy, named "Venom" and so scared and introverted. You know she was abused. People can really be cruel.
She's probably better off WITHOUT her last owners.
For sure!@@KoshN
The name is given by insecure owners who want to appear tough when really they’re just slack and immature. They tend to name their kids in a similar aggressive fashion.
I have a niece who named her love bird “Satan” . He was. How awful. Not the bird.😊
That was so cute how she twitched her ear when you said 'Honey'. Dogs understand so much. I'll pray someone with a good heart adopts her.
Dogs do not speak english.

And science has shown that positive words literally have a higher vibration. Amazing.

@harrietlivengood6793 - “That’s such “an” ugly name”
Is the proper grammar.
@@glorybelieve9010 This is not about grammar. This is about teaching an abused dog trust. That is the proper priority.
I like the poster who suggested the name sounded like "DENIM" -- that could be a transition name --> toward Honey Boo.
We can tell she’s been abused 🤬
Thanks!
This beautiful creature deserves a loving, peaceful home with patient caretakers.
She has the most beautiful face, but the most sorrowful expression. So sad. I hope she learns to trust again ❤️❤️
Thank you for adopting the dog. God please you.
@AlpineActivist - You’re a gem of a human being and so is the guy in the video! Bless you both. ❤️
I hope when it is his time that your happy memories get you through and sustain you. I’m very thankful for people like you. ❤️
Her eyes absolutely look like "Honey"! ❤🎉❤
She looks so scared. Poor baby!
Really breaks my heart.
@@dennistyler9852 I totally agree with you…👍🏼Thank you. Enjoy your weekend too! 🙏🏼🐾
Exactly; she “got out of the yard”👀meaning, what really happened was we let her out & abandoned her 😢
@@smartmarketing173 Exactly😢, I can never understand someone who could do this, why do they even want a dog in the first place.
She wanted to go out for a walk 100%. Maybe a bit of sun bathing. The warmth of the sun is really relaxing to a lot of dogs.
More likely she wanted away from all the noise. Dog's hearing is much more sensitive than ours, and clearly she wasn't liking the sudden loud noises.
It's exhilarating, too. The pups move their legs and smell the air. It's so freeing.
I've had several dogs who would follow the sun as they napped.
Dude when I take my pups out in the summer sometimes they pick a nice spot and plop down to sunbathe I'm like cmon we can't stay out here all day girls xD
15:56 right there... So beautiful... Just hearing you talk to her with love is such a game changer...

🎉🎉 HOORAY FOR HONEY!!🎉🎉
She’s got adopted? Where you learned that from?
How sweet. I'm glad you and your pupper got along and that she's doing better.
You are awesome

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one doing research and experiments on literally everything I come across as long as I know what I'm doing :/
The only thing they've really only been trained to do(sort of) was sit, stand and "up".(Having them literally jump up on their hind legs to put their front paws in our hands or chest XD ) That one wasn't intended actually😅 but then again, most things are like that...

Her eyes are so expressive! What a precious girl! So happy she found her forever home!
You are so right!
Yawns are not a sign of stress, but stress release. That is their was of releasing the stress energy. It is a good thing.

First time I found your channel and want to Thank You, and keep up the good work
Honey looks like a collie mix. They are harder to break through because they are more intelligent than other dogs so remember past trauma more. Once you've made that connection, however they learn to come out of their shell. I bet that the "aggression" to the smaller dog was no more than a herding instinct coming out! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yup and they tend to escape cuz they are a work breed and need stimulation
I'm so happy to hear this. Thank you ❤

Beautiful work as always with this precious Honey.
Rocky sitting with dogs is the best thing on the Interne, it always brings mo so much joy. What you do for these dogs is inspiring
She's breaking my heart but you're helping to heal it. Bless you for all you do.
That’s how it must be!❤
I’m so happy to know you got a cat! I retired recently and my 2 cats (rescue kittens from a shelter) are the light of my life!

I feel like humans need this kind of kindness to come out of their shells as well. 💖💖
Yep.
People want to show so much love and kindness to an "animal", but give hatred and cruelty to other "humans", who also have emotions.
So messed up.
We all do. Kindness is a rapidly vanishing commodity.

Woow, our rescue cat is also called Loki.
My Pomeranian whom we got as a puppy we named Loki. He’s a little crazy and I’ve wondered if I should change his name.
Giving words of affirmation to a doggy is incredible, I'm actually crying over here
Thank you for what you do.
Awesome! Great job and patience!
Pit bulls are for people who have attitude problems and the Dog makes them feel tough, a ticking time bomb!!!
I believe ever dog whether a rescue or bought, basically is a rescue.
@@davemi00 Great comment. I agree.
