Erol not stupid, Erol does not want to splash himself with mud while peeing outside. Put shavings in horse "van" (Canadian eh), let them do their worst and deal with it when you get home after a beer (or scotch, depending on how bad it is). And enjoy the Show!!!!! Said with humour and some sympathy.

I love seeing the ups and downs, I myself don’t have my own horse or haven’t been riding my whole life, never leased a horse either. Seeing it not always working out for people older than me (I’m 17) and them being stressed even at a high level and when riding their own horse, makes me feel like I’m not stupid for struggling with my stress when riding and that it’s okay to be nervous/ have things go wrong. I’ve started struggling with my mental health a lot when I became a teenager and have even given up horse riding because of it (picked it back up last year). Seeing you pull through even when it goes wrong the first time gives me hope that one day I will become a great rider. Anyways love your vids 😋

I hope you stick with it... For me, horses have always been the best therapy possible. I'm 46 now and although I've been around horses since birth, I've never actually fully owned my own. I have leased and worked in various roles within quite a few equine disciplines. This has kept me more than fulfilled. I hope you're mental health improves and you can find ways to live your best horsey life! I'm a freelance groom now, and I enjoy it immensely. I have a teenage daughter who has a lovely loan pony. If you're passionate, I promise you can find all sorts of opportunities to get involved. Good luck! 💚

Kudos to you for doing so well in such soggy conditions! I moved to Ontario 16 years ago, and am such a fair weather rider now. We don’t get the rain, but we do get very hot humid summers which makes eventing quite hard work!

That was some horrible weather!! I thought Erol did really well in the rain.i love his way of going. He looks so chill and relaxed. Lovely stride on him. That's a well done on him! Tiny didn't look very happy with the conditions on the first round, but on the 2nd round, a different horse he became! You both did a great job in all with the conditions you were given. Rain!!! What a difference between Izzy's round and then her practice round. I thought I saw lots of unsteady hands and pulling back before jumps in the first, but smooth, steady and looser in the second. Good job both of you!

Horrible weather but u both went out and did it. There's dedication 😊. Great rounds considering the dreadful rain and Erol was a star. Felt so sorry for Izzy and Tiny as u could tell how upset and frustrated she was but omg that 2nd round was so amazing. Things will definitely come together the more they do it. Xx

Are you not allowed to put on a martingale to help keep the horse’s head down during show jumping? Izzy did great on a second round but need more practice at home to get comfortable over fences. She should do more hunter/jumper shows and that will get her to trust her horse better. If you think positive and have fun, the horse will start trusting his rider and you will have a great partnership. To get the nerves under control, take a pause and look around your course once again when you are inside the arena,then took a depth breath and release it slowly once the bell rang. And always, always do a huge circle to get the proper canter rhythm to the first fence. Congratulation to both nonetheless because going around in those conditions is not easy but thank god it was on sand and not grass.
He has a tendency to overbend so a martingale is not the answer 😊😊
Erol looked beautiful during that dressage test, such nice paces, what a boy for the future, izzy did an amazing job, well done izzy and well done Ash, keep up the fab content

Hey Ashley, just love brining a young horse into the world 😊. I am so sad as had to have my 36 year old ex eventing horse put to sleep 😢. My froo strong till the day !! I do have 5 other horses. there will never ever be another froo ! My dad bough he for me when I was 7 Im 41 now , she was a 16,3 hh tb mare and my best friend !! She was put to rest in her field with her heard. I miss her every day 😢. I will never get a horse like her again! So grateful for her tho. My goodness the things we did and smashed it. Love your work and horses are hard but the joy they bring 😊xxxx

I actually think Erroll performed brilliantly. The conditions were about as horrendous as possible, so the fact that he got through both rounds so well shows a level of maturity I didn't think he had yet! Plus the dressage score, although perfectly acceptable, was particularly mean I feel!! My heart went out to Izzy though... I hope she can concentrate on the very positive second round of jumping. Tiny is a very capable fella... Trust him to help you out when those nerves kick in, Izzy! We're all rooting for you! We all need a supportive friend like Ash to get that extra confidence building run for us. The Dream Team lives to fight another day!

Brilliant family day out, Harry v. Enthusiastic about everything ( not) apart from Bella of course, wees in the wagon = more drama, dreadful, dreary weather but hey you went and competed and Tiny did an amazing second round, next time confidence will be so improved, all in all ,a great vlog and thanks for taking us along 🎉🎉 love you really Harry 😂 xx

Agreed! That’s a behavior I wouldn’t let a young horse (or any horse I’m riding/training) do. I don’t understand riders who let their horses continue bad behavior. But my BIGGEST pet peeve is when a rider/trainer doesn’t teach his/her horse to stand at the mounting block. The horse should stand still until you give him the cue to move forward. I swear SO many of the riders with RUclips channels just let their horse start walking the second the rider puts her left foot in the stirrup! My blood pressure actually rises every time I see this. Sometimes the horse moves on so quickly, the rider pretty much has to vault to get on!! No! Correct your horse any time he/she takes off from the mounting block before you’ve given a cue! Even an older horse can be re-trained correctly.

He had a lovely cadence in the dressage but that first showjumping he looked somewhat belligerent and non compliant with his nose poked right out. But very well ridden. Tricky day. I don’t think he helped you too much on this one.

Why does Izzy ALWAYS look so untidy? She can’t be bothered to even do her jacket up (forget about the stock), she’s always forgetting her gloves, and is always slouching when she rides? Ashley, fix her! It’s driving me crazy! Also I think she needs a more seasoned, reliable, “push button” horse for her level of riding. I’m not trying to be unkind, but it just seems to be a theme in every one of your videos that features Izzy.
