I really enjoy your musings and speech as you progress on Mr.Jones. I also find your O.G. to be an exemplary example of what Dr.Olds was up to when building these fantastic cars. I remember sitting in a Ralleye 350 in my uncles showroom that had the black vinyl interior and no carpet, wow truly POVERTY....so the fact that your F-85 got a great upgrade in the interior department is all a bonus. What was the old saying back then never buy a Monday or a Friday car, they were hung over on Monday and couldn't wait to get the hell out of there on Friday! Good times huh ? I think it's a great idea to showcase the O.G., never tire of looking at it. Very funeral type sadness that the Oldsmobile marque has been vanished, I'm sure not a lot folks have any idea of what thatt O.G. is. Dr.Olds be smilin'.......

Good evening. I'm glad you liked this video. Took Joe and I a fair amount of time - believe it or not. That's a great memory you have.!!!!!! Thanks for sharing it. What it must've been like to see these cars brand new. Not rotted our OR over-restored versions of the real deals. Yes that Friday Monday theory still holds true in many things these days.
I love to learn that people like to the my car the "OG" Truth be told, it presents much better in photos / videos. starting to show its' age....again. Stay Tuned, more cool stuff coming.

Hey Steve, I found the build sheet to my 69 Cutlass S project. It was in the passenger bucket seat. I've never found one there before. I'm going to do a short video of the build sheet and data plate soon. Take care.

Hey there!!! Great to hear from you. Thanks for taking the time to watch this one. Finding a build sheet is always exciting. Where was your Cutlass built? Better yet, save that for your video. Can't wait to see it!

Great video! I have both the Fisher broadcast sheet and Olds build sheet for my '71 Cutlass. The date on the Fisher broadcast sheet is 2/16/1971 and the production date on the Olds build sheet is 2/17/1971. Given that, I'd guess that things didn't change too much between '69 and '71, so it may be safe to say the OG's body was built on 01/27/1969. Unfortunately, I do not have these documents for my '69, so I only have one to base my theory off of.

Great info! Finding a build sheet is always exciting. Where was your car(s)built?
It sure seems like that's what the date on the broadcast card means. Thanks for sharing your information.
Thanks again for watching and we really appreciate the compliment.

@@theautorefinery, my stable is all Cutlass, '69, '71 and '77, and all three were built in Lansing. And thanks for doing much more than a "happy birthday" video - the info you share often gives me a nugget or two that I never knew and I'm sure that applies to many that watch!

Hello again, You have a Lansing Build Sheet?!? That's a very rare piece! I'd love to see a picture of that. Any chance you'd feel comfortable email us a picture of that?
I really appreciate your compliment. That certainly helps keep us motivated to do more.

Great video, commentary, and details! Love when you get into the depths! Also love the old factory pictures. Makes me wonder who was typing those broadcast cards, what printer or device was used and how they physically got from said person to the actual car. What a story and I know there is MUCH MORE............. Can't wait

I have a 1970 Buick GS … I got my build sheet out to compare the cowl tag date 09d to the date on the build sheet
Box 1 job sequence no 33
    Box 2 date produced/empty
    Box 10 sched. No. Date
    31 10-07
I believe this means my car was probably built by fisher last week of September and assembled by Buick October 7th

Hey there and thanks for watching. You have an actual buildsheet and not just a broadcast card, correct? So then that makes sense, the body was assembled / built 4th week of September at Fisher plant and then off to Buick to have the remainder of the car built. That almost sounds like a long time, but again, who knows? Thanks so much for sharing your cars dates.
FYI October 7th is the day I brought my car home at the ripe old age of 15!.

Hi Steve … yes actual build sheet I also just checked my Sloan document which does in fact show that the Date is 10/7/1969 invoice date, the reason for the longer difference between dates is my car was assembled in Framingham Massachusetts!

    • @theautorefinery
      @theautorefinery  6 месяцев назад +1

Yeah man Plenty of different cars built in Framingham. Very cool that you have Sloan documentation. Thanks again for playing along. This is exactly what we were hoping for!.
Please share this video with anyone you think may have an interest and please consider "subscribing" if you haven't.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.... stay tuned

I will get my documentation binder out to look at it again soon.
I have GM of Canada docs, dealer invoice, protect o plate, warranty card, certification of mechanical fitness, insurance slips, ownership, zeibart receipts, etc, etc, etc
I can ask the original owners to refresh my memory, when they ordered the car and when they picked it up at the Dealership

Alright i have procrastinated long enough. Im going to send in for documents from the Olds history center. They still do that? I can send a rubbing of my cowl tag and get info.

    • @theautorefinery

Good morning. Thanks for taking the time to watch this one,
Unfortunately, the Oldsmobile History Center has been defunct for over 20 years now. It's been said that after Helen Earley retired, any records that The History Center had were donated to the RE Olds Museum.
These records then became part of the
GM Heritage Center. I guess you can start there. Documenting these cars is not easy and this is why having any paperwork at all, as insignificant as it may seem, is very important.
For example, we have no history at all on our convertible other than the gentleman we bought it from. He has no records prior to his ownership...... dead end. (for now). Have fun with the "hunt" I love this part!
