I didn't realize how much care DBZ had over Super until this weeks Toonami airing. Goku and Gohan were flying at high speeds over the ocean talking... And their clothes were COMPLETELY still. A scene like that in DBZ would have showed looped animations of their clothes flapping in the wind, same with the hair, and DBZ didn't have the technology we have today to simplify the process.
It was at that moment I realized that either DBS was on a hell of a budget, a tight timeframe, or doesn't care.

cr4sher7 it’s not the muscles, i mean these guys can bench press the earth. 50lbs of musle added isn’t what slows them down. It’s that their KI goes straight to adding strength, but in return it takes away from other aspects like speed. Their focusing on ki to get stronger. The muscle bulking is a side effect. Super sayian 2 adds strength and speed since it’s a multiplier of overall power. Same with super sayian 3 but at that point it’s taking away from stamina.

The whole “you’re slow because your muscles are too big” is bs anyway. When you are that fast and strong, that little bit of bulk would be inconsequential.
@Senior Partner umm it 100% does, SSJ grade 3 would be the equivalent muscles mass to a pro open class bodybuilder. Have you ever seen those guys move? They are suuuuper slow and sluggish, they get winded after running up a flight of stairs and can't actually full out sprint because their hamstrings would tear. Fat slows you down yes, but being obese level weight in pure muscle would actually be way worse for speed

Broly can handle the weight, he’s 9 feet tall, (As LSS) plus he’s the legendary super Saiyan
JBcoolbreez piccolo is listed at 7’5” I know he’s my favorite character and Broly is second. So Broly is prolly like 7’10” but I look that up. He does go to 9 foot even as LSS
My interpretation was always that Trunks took the regular super sayian form and just bulked it up for increased power, but Broly's normal form is always that bulked up. The difference being one is artifical and the other is natural. So Broly is just used to moving that much mass around and can properly handle it, whereas Trunks only used it a few times (to keep it a secret from Vegeta) and didn't master it in time for his fight with Cell. Broly on the other hand has been fighting with that form his entire life, so he's perfectly acclimated to it and has managed to remove the weaknesses.
My other explination is that Broly just don't give a fuck.
You definitely have the right idea, but to add to it further, the ki strain on trunks the few times he used it was also a problem for him. If he could spend enough time in the form he could eliminate that easily, but he doesn't get that luxury thanks in part to Vegeta.
Krillin isn't to blame here because 18 is really strong at the time and since I assume she outright told him "I want to join you guys and be good" effectively (obviously in her way) his choice to wreck the remote was not near as bad as Vegeta being Vegeta.

Because that's not the same form. LSSJ was more like SSJ 2, increased both strength and speed, while USSJ increased strength, but decreased speed at the same time.

It's because both LSSJ and SSJ2 increase/unlock the base Ki of the user. USSJ modifies the shape of the body and the Ki consumption rate, but doesn't change the amount of base Ki.

In sports when someone with a small frame gains alot of muscle mass they lose speed and agility bc their not used to being at that weight.
But people who have always been pretty big are used to walking around at that weight allowing them to still be quick and agile.
Your heart and bones density will determine how much force you can apply to your strength and speed. your muscle mass doesn't determine how strong or fast you'll be. Broly is probably 7 ft tall and is already huge in his normal form compared to goku vegeta n trunks who look under 5 ft 9 n pretty slim. Broly is already huge so more mass doesn't effect his heart n joints as much as the others, allowing him to apply more force then others can. I'd assume that broly in his normal n ss1 form is as fast as SS2, if you combine my statement with what Cell explained to trunks.

Since Broly's transformation is legendary it's a natural gift that he has to control his buff body. The rest have to work harder at it. Broly couldn't get to SS3 or 4 .

Brian Awesome LSSJ is literally a form on it's own, which is why it's legendary as it cannot be obtained by others like Goku via Training & it's not bound by restrictions of Grade 3 because they're entirely different transformations.
Super Saiyan Grade 3 is something any Saiyan can obtain, and it has it's downsides obviously as it just buffs Super Saiyan's original power at a cost.
You're pushing Super Saiyan to go beyond, which is why it has downsides and evolution to SSJ2 should be considered. LSSJ has no downsides as the form itself is natural & Grade 3 is not natural.

@@andrewtaylor4796 because kale is the Canon broly before the broly movie ^•^ now let's say hypothetically that the LSSJ form is SSJ grade 3 the absolute main reason broly doesn't lose speed is because he had years to get used to it(theoretically speaking) while trunks went into it with not a bit of training to handle the form or get used to the extra mass. Sure Goku stated it's a useless form but that's theoretically implying they can't get used to that extra weight when they absolutely can. I mean look at Vegeta in 500x gravity or Goku in 100x gravity they trained to get used to that extra mass so in a way SSJ grade 3 could actually massively boost there power in base form if they mastered it(aka LSSJ)

The ascended forms aren't as useless as they seem imo. I think Its just Trunks and Vegeta used it incorrectly. Broly used his buffed up form correctly. The grade 2 and 3 should be used more defensively. For example trunks was purely on the offensive in grade 3. Given his lack of speed hits would miss. However, if he fought in a defensive way, he could have opened up cell and landed a hit a clean blow. Broly majority of the movie tanked the Z fighters and countered. Or he used his large, widely spread body as an attack to make up for speed. So as a grade 2 or 3 maybe they should fight at a diffetent pace for more effectiveness. Or i'm just wrong and wasted time 😂.

One issue. In his fight against Cell, Trunks showed no sign of low stamina, and he was likely fighting at full power. With this in mind, I feel like Trunks would have shown signs of exhaustion, but instead he just gave up because he was too slow. It wasn't stamina that prevented Trunks from hitting Cell. What do?

@@kinteasw4874 broly is tall asf with or without that form difference is trunks isnt tall like broly so when you stack on 100 pounds of muscle onto a body that's only 5"11 (just a example hieght) your body will slow down especially if your used to only carrying a certain amount of muscle and train a certain way to be agile while broly stacks 100 pounds of pure muscle onto a scrawny 6"4 body frame it fits him and since it doesn't take 100% of his power to do so he can use the rest of his energy as a boost for just being laterally fast cuz broly isn't very agile he can just get from point A to point B really quick another example Rey Mysterio vs Brock Lesnar if they both weighed 200 lbs Brock is like 6"3 Rey is like 5"11 or shorter who's body would perform best with a extra 50 pounds of muscle? Rey doesn't need that kind of muscle because that isn't how he wrestle's too me broly's body is just better fit to pack on that muscle and use it effectivly
With there different fighting styles and with broly's power not running out he would be better suited for the form while being huge wouldn't benefit trunks speed blitzing and agile style
Edit I say this to add on to the videos theory
This completely makes sense (ctually comes from a tall guy - me), basically same strength level looks buffer on a 1.7m guy than on a 1.9m+ guy. Heck, you might be able to benchpress 80 kilos and still look skinny af. Also, the weight and muscle mass distribution is a completely different system on different height levels, therefore the limits are too.
