My theory is that legendary is the truest and most primordial incarnation of super saiyan that was intended for only one saiyan. Unlike the weaker mutations, it’s not limited by fixed multipliers. Instead it taps into the saiyan’s innate zenkai capabilities making the legendary super saiyan as strong as they need to be. It’s just a constant influx and output of ki.Also I can’t believe I didn’t catch the journey to the west reference in Z Broly’s shock crown. It’s a reference to the golden crown that Tripitaka used to keep Sun Wukong in check
The one thing I love about the old and new Broly's design are the head and neck bands both wear. This is a symbolism from the Journey to the west where Tang Sanzang as a precaution put gold headbands around Sun Wukong, Sha Wujin and Oolong as they were demons and that they would not disobey also to control their wild nature especially Sun Wukong who Broly is more closely based off in terms of his outfit and wild nature of when Sun Wukong attacked the Jade Emperor 500 years before his imprisonment. The new Broly on the other hand tamed the wild beast Ba through his calm nature something Grand Pa Gohan did to tame Goku and Broly wearing Ba's ear is loosely symbolic to Sun Wukong wearing a tiger's skin in journey to the west.
Believe broly is a mutant Saiyan, like some gene that would naturally hold back the full power of a Saiyan wasn't formed in his genetic structure, kinda like a adrenaline rush, he got mutated to where he has access to all of the power he'll ever have as a Saiyan, and his super Saiyan transformations just boost it, that's just my take though.

Toriyama did have some involvement with GT and it is cannon to the post Z pre Super anime only timeline. That said, SS4 isn't cannon to the main manga/super timeline (yet). It's complicated.
The Legendary Super Saiyan seems to be the closest thing to the original Super Saiyan. I never saw Broly as a villain, but as a victim really pitted against the Z Fighters.
Honestly all legendary saiyan’s seem to be pretty pure in base, (well og Broly, and kale have forms they can control.), they are more like a shy/quiet person than a prideful, and foolish saiyan. Honestly if you gave any of the legendary saiyan’s the mystic/ultimate ritual form, you wouldn’t just have a character with the greatest potential, unless somehow you think Gohan’s potential is greater than somebody that went from Namiek saga to forcing Gogeta blue to end the fight as soon as possible, so Broly didn’t surpass him. You would have the perfect being to master ultra instinct, and ultra ego.

I really hope they bring back super saiyan 4 and use Broly to introduce it. When broly got mad fighting vegeta and goku, Paragus said that even though his tail was removed he somehow figured out how to harness the great ape power. Sounds like a perfect segue into super saiyan 4. Maybe they’ll change it up a little bit instead of requiring a great ape transformation to reach ssj4 you’ll just have to harness the power of the great ape form and ascend.

My theory is that LSSJ is the result of not being able to control the saiyan emotions and instincts and totally lacking regard for life which is reflected in the aura and hair (You can also say it’s a nod to the Incredible Hulk). Which probably explains why Gohan (SSJ2) in his fight with Cell didn’t get the greenish glow from his rage, but Broly and Kale do. Let me explain: when Kale initially transformed, she was full of doubt, grief and even rage. When she finally transformed and let her emotions and rage flow through her unrestrained, she expressed that she wanted to “sacrifice” Cabba. Caulifla even alludes to this before Kale transformed that the other way someone can transform is from a place of anger. And in the original Broly movie, Broly didn’t seem to want to be the LSSJ in the legend and expressed the same doubts and grief and anger Kale did. Because maybe it’s not that Broly hated Goku, but due to the transformation’s inversion on the heart and mind, he was not able to see him as another “brother” but as an opponent to be defeated. Additionally, he doesn’t seem to express his intention to “defeat” him in ‘that way’ when he’s in his regular form. It’s just that in what starts off in a friendly duel between sayains, Broly becomes a bloodthirsty autistic mess.
There's multiple reasons he's popular. - he's a saiyan villain, which wasn't common and makes it more "even" with the heroes - he can turn super saiyan, which was even less common - has green hair instead of yellow, which made him stand out - he's unique in the sense of 1 legendary super saiyan every 1000 years - the white eyes and berserk state made him an absolute loose cannon which poses a bigger threat, so more on the line For me it was mostly the green hair which instantly made me think that he was something different from normal saiyans.
The legend of the super Saiyan didn't say one appeared every 1000 years. But it was that the last one appeared 1000 years ago. Devil is in the details.
As a colour, green is something I’d usually expect something turn into *before turning into yellow* . I mean same as adding yellow to something *dark blue* perhaps. Then again if the colour is not yellow but *gold* then there’s a hint of red in there. But this kind of logic might not be what to look for here xP
Broly is awesome, and if they were to fully bring in the Golden Oozaru and SSj4 I think it should be Broly that should achieves them. That with the new Broly being canon, and said at the start of the movie to be the Legendary Super Saiyan or a Mutant. And we saw that even without his tail, he could tap into his Oozaru powers. So I think he should be the only one to go Golden Oozaru and SSj4. I do wish they made new Broly a villain like the OG was. Also Golden Oozaru might not be canon to the manga, but it is to the series with Vegeta's flashbacks and the hint of it we got when Goku went SS3 for the first time. So what is canon in the series does not have to be canon to the manga and vis versa. Half Saiyans have amazing potential but I never ones thought them as being the Legendary Super Saiyan. I always thought it has something only a pureblood could achieve, also so far we've seen that they can go SSj and SSj2. We have never seen them go past that, say for the times Gotan and Trunks became Gotenks. But so far Gohan has been the only half Saiyan to have something extra, and it was finally unlocked in this new Beast form. Kale is a bootleg Broly, sorry to those that like her. But it was a lame attempt at making Broly canon without bringing in the actual guy, and I believe the creator said that she is the female version of Broly. Still, in Universe 6 the called her form the Legendary Saiyan according to Cabba. Or that is what he said during the Tournament when he saw her take on that form. So again, Kale is her universe's Legendary Super Saiyan and new Broly is universe 6's Legendary Super Saiyan. Vegeta did say Goku was the LSSj at the end of the Frieza saga, and I believe original it was suppose to end there. But since then the show has continued and everyone and their grandmother has go SSj. Hell after a while Vegeta finally stopped saying LSSj altogether. As for the blonde stuff, sorry but the narrator is wrong. The OG Broly's hair was actual green to a light lime green, it wasn't straight blonde like it became in his second and third movie. In the first movie we see Broly go from a purple to blue hair color, blonde and ones he goes LSSj its green to light lime green. We even see this in the images shown in the video, so the LSSj is the large green to greenish hair style. People make comparisons to Ascended SSj cause of the build and the way the hair sticks out. But it isn't the same thing at all. In the OG movie this final form is called LSSj (its not just a form but him himself that is the LSSj), and in the DBS movie it was never canon-wise called Broly full power. That is something I've only ever heard fan's say that do to their belief that only the OG is LSSj and not the new Broly. And seeing the Kale color manga for the first time now, her hair is clearly is a light lime green and not solid blonde. Sorry, not trying to be a jerk or anything. Since broly is given the title of 'the' Legendary super saiyan, is it possible through all the Mysticism and spirituality stuff that he is reincarnated from yamoshi Thus making him the legendary super saiyan Plus it combines the power of the great ape and it's golden Form the super saiyan power itself. And the divine power of the God super saiyan making one big package of a mess of power that can't be controlled.
While it may break power scaling, I personally believe that the Legendary Super Saiyan form would have a 500 times power boost, as it's basically Super Saiyan (which is 50 times boost) with the Ikari/Wrathful form that DBS Broly has (a 10 times boost like Great Ape) stacked onto each other, and 50 × 10 = 500.
Too many damned forms but keeping Broly around as the Saiyan antithesis of Goku and a constant looming threat in the background is a good plot device in my opinion

My theory is that LSSJ is the result of not being able to control the saiyan emotions and instincts and totally lacking regard for life which is reflected in the aura and hair (You can also say it’s a nod to the Incredible Hulk). Which probably explains why Gohan (SSJ2) in his fight with Cell didn’t get the greenish glow from his rage, but Broly and Kale do. Let me explain: when Kale initially transformed, she was full of doubt, grief and even rage. When she finally transformed and let her emotions and rage flow through her unrestrained, she expressed that she wanted to “sacrifice” Cabba. Caulifla even alludes to this before Kale transformed that the other way someone can transform is from a place of anger. And in the original Broly movie, Broly didn’t seem to want to be the LSSJ in the legend and expressed the same doubts and grief and anger Kale did. Because maybe it’s not that Broly hated Goku, but due to the transformation’s inversion on the heart and mind, he was not able to see him as another “brother” but as an opponent to be defeated. Additionally, he doesn’t seem to express his intention to “defeat” him in ‘that way’ when he’s in his regular form. It’s just that in what starts off in a friendly duel between sayains, Broly becomes a bloodthirsty autistic mess.
There's multiple reasons he's popular.
- he's a saiyan villain, which wasn't common and makes it more "even" with the heroes
- he can turn super saiyan, which was even less common
- has green hair instead of yellow, which made him stand out
- he's unique in the sense of 1 legendary super saiyan every 1000 years
- the white eyes and berserk state made him an absolute loose cannon which poses a bigger threat, so more on the line
For me it was mostly the green hair which instantly made me think that he was something different from normal saiyans.

Broly is awesome, and if they were to fully bring in the Golden Oozaru and SSj4 I think it should be Broly that should achieves them. That with the new Broly being canon, and said at the start of the movie to be the Legendary Super Saiyan or a Mutant. And we saw that even without his tail, he could tap into his Oozaru powers. So I think he should be the only one to go Golden Oozaru and SSj4. I do wish they made new Broly a villain like the OG was. Also Golden Oozaru might not be canon to the manga, but it is to the series with Vegeta's flashbacks and the hint of it we got when Goku went SS3 for the first time. So what is canon in the series does not have to be canon to the manga and vis versa.
Half Saiyans have amazing potential but I never ones thought them as being the Legendary Super Saiyan. I always thought it has something only a pureblood could achieve, also so far we've seen that they can go SSj and SSj2. We have never seen them go past that, say for the times Gotan and Trunks became Gotenks. But so far Gohan has been the only half Saiyan to have something extra, and it was finally unlocked in this new Beast form.
Kale is a bootleg Broly, sorry to those that like her. But it was a lame attempt at making Broly canon without bringing in the actual guy, and I believe the creator said that she is the female version of Broly. Still, in Universe 6 the called her form the Legendary Saiyan according to Cabba. Or that is what he said during the Tournament when he saw her take on that form. So again, Kale is her universe's Legendary Super Saiyan and new Broly is universe 6's Legendary Super Saiyan.
Vegeta did say Goku was the LSSj at the end of the Frieza saga, and I believe original it was suppose to end there. But since then the show has continued and everyone and their grandmother has go SSj. Hell after a while Vegeta finally stopped saying LSSj altogether.
As for the blonde stuff, sorry but the narrator is wrong. The OG Broly's hair was actual green to a light lime green, it wasn't straight blonde like it became in his second and third movie. In the first movie we see Broly go from a purple to blue hair color, blonde and ones he goes LSSj its green to light lime green. We even see this in the images shown in the video, so the LSSj is the large green to greenish hair style. People make comparisons to Ascended SSj cause of the build and the way the hair sticks out. But it isn't the same thing at all. In the OG movie this final form is called LSSj (its not just a form but him himself that is the LSSj), and in the DBS movie it was never canon-wise called Broly full power. That is something I've only ever heard fan's say that do to their belief that only the OG is LSSj and not the new Broly. And seeing the Kale color manga for the first time now, her hair is clearly is a light lime green and not solid blonde.

Since broly is given the title of 'the' Legendary super saiyan, is it possible through all the Mysticism and spirituality stuff that he is reincarnated from yamoshi Thus making him the legendary super saiyan Plus it combines the power of the great ape and it's golden Form the super saiyan power itself. And the divine power of the God super saiyan making one big package of a mess of power that can't be controlled.
While it may break power scaling, I personally believe that the Legendary Super Saiyan form would have a 500 times power boost, as it's basically Super Saiyan (which is 50 times boost) with the Ikari/Wrathful form that DBS Broly has (a 10 times boost like Great Ape) stacked onto each other, and 50 × 10 = 500.
Too many damned forms but keeping Broly around as the Saiyan antithesis of Goku and a constant looming threat in the background is a good plot device in my opinion
